BYOND Key: Toasterstrudes Character Names: M.A.K.E, K.E.L.T, Kar'lan Sel'ler, most of the other robots that have a 'K.E' in their name somewhere. Species you are applying to play: Unathi What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Yellow-ish green Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Of course I have Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I wish to add to my growing whitelist number. I've already applied for IPC, Tajara, Head's, and have just finished my Moderator Trialship, so I thought, "Hey, why not go for the rest of the whitelists". Today I have set my sights on the Unathi, They seem like a race that I wouldn't mind playing, so why not try for it? Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The Unathi fill the 'honor above all' cliché of aliens in our lore. They have the ability to be one of the most aggressive species that we have, and have mechanics, as well as lore to back that up. Besides the obvious visual differences of the Unathi, they also have a much different culture. A more 'tribal' societal structure gives them a much different feel than Humans. Character Name: Ges'savas Shav'vass Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Ges'savas Shav'vass grew up in the clan Sha'vass, Born from Ve'ress Sha'vass, his father, and Ses'keas Sha'vass, his mother. His father was a man of valor in their tribe, A warrior like his father, grandfather, great grandfather, and so forth. It was legacy that Ges'savas should become a warrior like the generations behind them, but Ges'savas was much different. They were a sort of Social Outcast from their clan, A non-female Unathi that was interested in Culinary arts, something seen as unacceptable by not only his clan, but his family. Upon his coming-of-age, he was giving an alternative; He was going to either become a warrior, or be exiled from the clan. Ges'savas's hands were tied, either face exile from his clan and lose the dream they hoped, or set forth their predestine legacy. They reluctantly agreed to become a warrior of their clan. During one of their walks at night, they looked to the sky, taking a moment to gaze at the stars, an Idea struck them. They convinced their Clan leader to assist them into leaving their home, and traveling into space under the precedence that they were going to go off, and work for security for a corporation. Technically, they did not lie to their elder, after working as private security, they managed to make enough money to travel to Tau Ceti, and move into Beisel. They started working in a Restaurant as a bus-boy, and after about two years managed to become a sous-chef. They saved up money, and managed to take out a loan to go to a college for Culinary arts, and managed to get their Masters. They began to look for placed that could use their expertise, before looking back to the stars. What do you like about this character? I like the idea of a more civilian based job for a Unathi, something to change up the norm. I don't believe i've really ever seen a Unathi Chef, so I though, "Hey, why not make one". How would you rate your role-playing ability? Solid 7-8/10 Notes: ily Jackboot

[Denied] 1elbow's Head of Staff Application
ToasterStrudel replied to Jarl_Elbow's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I'm going to have to agree with DatBerry on this one, the incident with the slimes really throws me off on this application. In addition to that, you've only been around for about a month, and I haven't really seen any of your characters around to give a positive rating for this. If it were me, I would give it a little bit more time before you apply for a Head position, try and make your character a little more well known. Though, me being the staff member who dealt with the slime incident, i'm not going to +1 or -1, but i'll leave my opinion here. -
The Aure, Mechanically Unique Primitive Species
ToasterStrudel replied to WrongEnd's topic in Archive
I'll throw my two-cents in here. Most races are brought to NanoTrasen for their abilities to somewhat adapt to human cultures/etc. I don't believe in lore NT would ever replace some races like the tajara or skrell. (Especially the massive amount of lore and playerbase that would basically be thrown out for your new race). There are actually quite a few Tajara, Skrell, and Unathi players, who have throughly developed their characters, and have been throughly immersed into the server, how would you think they would feel if they had to get rid of their character because a race was replacing theirs. I hold a few whitelists myself, and me being a casually lazy person, i'd be annoyed that all of my work was basically just thrown away for a race that I probably wont play. The only suitable race I can see replacing is the Vox, due to their ability to be played as raiders, BUT even then, that means we lose are funny named bird people for raid fun, because your race probably wouldn't be very much suitable for raids. Honestly I'm sorry if this is being a bit harsh, but this is pretty snowflakey, our server is set up to where we can dedicate our resources into developing races and lore, and so far its working out fine for us, we have been doing great without having any new races. Plenty of races can be alien if you play it right, all races can be alien if you make them. TL;DR this is a bit snowflakey for my taste, and it'll remove a lot of playerbase in lore that we've spent years making. -
Due to the memes that this app has caused, and the fact that this would probably be a better Custom Loadout item, I'm gonna withdraw this.
-
Yes its a snowflakey item, but every app here is a snowflakey app. This will bring up some roleplay though, as Monique (M.A.K.Es owner) will most likey be angry at them for abandoning the look of the poncho. Also Coalf started it. :^( Also I wouldnt mind if it was a custom loadout item, just didn't know if others wanted it or not.

*Unsheaths their own katana, one that is a few more inches longer than yours* I see what you mean there, but thats the thing, MAKE isn't religious, they're a robot, so your opinion is flawed. *My old body fades into shadow, and reforms behind you, two times as big* How do you know that MAKE's creator, and owner of Kalentine Electronics isn't Irish? Maybe they were HARD PROGRAMMED to like the color green? You wouldn't know though... how pathetic...

Alright, my opinion time. Honestly I think self-healing would take out a lot of interaction with crew for synthetics, so that should probably be crossed out. From what I know, synthetics were not allowed in most command roles because they couldn't be trusted, sot hem being patriotic and attempting to repel tbe 33rd fleet by risking their lives should have proven they can be trustworthy. Out of the three options, I would wrather command roles stay a thing. #letmebeanIPCIAA :^)

You have activated my counter-trap card. Red shows blood and death, REASON BEING, Robots cannot show passion or love. Green symbolizes growth and life, something robots can bring forth into the world. Me: 2 - You: 0
-
What are you talking about Green > Red any day. Green portrays innocence, whereas red portrays hatred and anger. M.A.K.E is a good little robot. PLUS it clashes better with the engie orange.

BYOND Key: Toasterstrudes Character name: M.A.K.E Item name: Workers Flannel Why is your character carrying said item to work? The quintessential look for any prospering worker in the construction or lumber-jacking trade is flannel. M.A.K.E, being a sensible robot that wishes to look the part in their job, must keep up with the blue-collar look of these construction workers and lumber-jacks. They would want to achieve such looks as to properly fit in better with their work environment, ensuring efficiency, as well as looking dope. Item function(s): Can be worn, has an opened, closed, opened w/ rolled sleeves, and closed w/ rolled sleeves variant. Item description: "A very sensible green wool flannel, really brings out the hipster in you!" Item appearance: How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? I feel that the poncho craze has gone stale, maybe we can usher in a new era of the flannel. (ALSO it'll apparently usher in a new conflict of poncho vs flannel :^( ) Additional comments: (I'm so sorry Tish but I must snowflake, this will be my last one I promise :^()

It probably won't be an every round type of mech, and I thought having a different type of Ripley could spruce things up, could be an Engineering mech to deal with blobs or other hazardous materials. I believe there is already non-mining mech modkits (I.E the red and black) so I thought it would be something nice to spruce up RP and change things up.
-
Me and Xeno's go back a while. I don't think I can comment for their synthetic characters in the past, as I haven't had much interaction with them, BUT, I feel their roleplaying ability and focus on how a character should be structured hugely outweighs my own ability (which I have a white-list for). I feel they should at least receive a chance to join us robust IPC master-race players, as they may bring some interesting new perspectives to the community. I feel the passion they have for the synthetic race is reason enough to give them a whitelist, but their backstory as well as the ideas that they may bring to the table would be a great addition to the dirty synth playerbase. +!

BYOND Key: ToasterStrudes Character name: K.E.L.T Item name: H.E.M APLU Ripley Modkit Why is your character carrying said item to work? It is a test design created by K.E.L.T to see if it could make an efficient Hazardous Environment Mech to assist with chemical spills. Item function(s): It would function as a mod kit, and be added to the existing Ripley to better improve its design for Hazardous Environments (Its mostly just a recolor) Item description: The H.E.M, or Hazardous Environment Mech was a 'fever dream' of K.E.L.T, a design that they decided might come in handy in case of an accidental phoron spill, or other chemicals. It is a Mech designed to keep hazardous chemicals outside of it. Item appearance: How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? Usually I only see Ripleys being used as mining Mechs, I thought it would be nice to try and change it up a bit. I don't see modkits being used as much anymore, thought maybe adding some more will have people using them more. Additional comments: I'm sorry for the double post for custom items, this was more-so just a fever dream that I had the other night, was messing around on a test server looking at all of the modkits and decided, "Hey I want one!" so here we are, a tireless night of spriting later.

BYOND Key: ToasterStrudes Character name: Kar'lan Sel'ler Item name: Family Beret Why is your character carrying said item to work? The beret was given to her by her mother before she left planet to work for NT, it would mostly be for a good luck charm, and a parting gift. Item function(s): A hat for her head, and a memory. Item description: It is a brown beret with a orange patch sewn into it, the patch would have her initials sewn into it as well. Item appearance: How will you use this to better interact with crew and/or stimulate RP? It is something that relates to her past, so it could be brought up in conversation, or other means. Additional comments: I have the DMI's made for if it gets accepted!

Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: Toasterstrudes Character Name(s): M.A.K.E (Maintenance Tech), C.A.K.E (Chef), K.E.L.T (Research Director), Kar'lan Sel'ler (Engineering Apprentice). (my mains) AI Name(s): N/A Preferred means of contact: Can work with anything, Good with Discord, Skype, Carrier Pigeon, you name it. Age: 19 Timezone: EST (-5) When are you on Aurora?: Usually at night, and most days of the week. More so on the weekends. Experience How long have you played SS13?: I've been playing for about 1-2 years or so, on and off. How long have you played on Aurora: Started a few months ago. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I'm still learning, but I know enough to be able to assist in any way that I can. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Sadly, I have not had much moderation experience. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Nope! Why do you play SS13?: I play it for enjoyment, its a good game to take your mind of of things, gives me a chance to escape the day-to-day hustle Why do you play on Aurora?: Though Aurora wasn't the first server I started on, its definitely is a place where I will stay. I enjoy the community of it. The Roleplay is held to a standard which I love, and the community outside of the game is entertaining as well. What do moderators do?: Depending on what the admin tells them, they do a lot of the smaller administration things, they are basically mini-administrators. Game-mods usually deal with dishing our warnings, helping with Ahelps, and the occasional bwoinking of the Greytide robuster trying to break into the armory. They are basically the little servants of the Admins, and ensure that everyone is following the rules. What does it mean to be a moderator for our community?: Much like what was said above, you're the peacekeepers of the server. You are there to help out where you are needed by the admins, and to ensure that everyone is following the rules. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Firstly because Alberyk told me I had to, Secondly I know that the moderating team is quickly getting outnumbered by the CCIAA and the Admins, and from my knowledge they are in need of some more people. I thought I would go ahead and chip in, see if I could help out. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I've got a lot of patience, as well as an ability to adapt to things as I go. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I've lived most of my life with everything on the list. I'm used to being stressed, (Can thank School, Family, Relationships, you name it!) so its something I've become keen on controlling. It really takes a lot to get me angry, even then I wouldn't let my anger get in the way of what i'm doing. Insults are another thing that don't really phase me, I've been called almost everything under the sun, the Internet and life have built a nice and thick skin for defense. Anything Else You Want to Add: Alberyk pressured me into it. plz demote. <3 Also thank you for the consideration!

I'll throw my two cents in, though my opinion is probably biased due to already experiencing it on Lohikar's test server, I like it, it gives a more "relaxed" simplistic feel, and more rustic feeling in terms of gameplay. It just goes to show how just changing something as simple as lighting can change how the game feels, it'll defiantly improve the server IMO.

Sadly with the new bay-merge, IPC's can't inject themselves with milk and enzyme to make cheese with their body- BUT, if you manage to somehow convince medical to lend you an IV drip to put milk and enzyme in, you can make cheese with your body :^) Edit: Added Complimentary picture :^)

I was thinking that would work best, have it run off of the internal cell, much like how it runs off of internal oxygen.
-
I was wondering if maybe us IPC players could get a better way of wearing Hardsuits, its always been a pain to wear one as an IPC because you /always/ come very close to overheating. The organic counterpart has a pretty good Oxygen supply, and has a free slot, but the IPC version has to lose a slot, aswell as face a possibility of damage. I was just wondering if maybe we could get something similar to a mounted RCD or taser, something similar, an addon that can be put on hardsuits to have a built-in suit cooler. Feel free to add any suggestions to it, or opinions, Thanks.

Ikrad is a cool guy, I say give them a nice beret to go along with the cool-ness. The hat itself is a pretty cool idea none-the-less.
