BYOND key: Serveris6
Character names: Syrus Seto (More to come, depending upon whether or not this is approved.)
How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Roughly a week.
Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Because I wish to be able to play as command staff on Aurora station, as it seems, from what I've seen, that the current command population pool is, quite frankly, a bit small.
Why did you come to Aurora?: Because I got fed up with the administration on baystation, and quit along with a number of others(roughly a week ago), and while skimming for new servers, discovered this lovely paradise. Upon seeing other ex-bay players here, I decided it must be worth staying with. Best decision I've made in a whle.
Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes. Extensively.
Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.
Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Role-playing to me is defined as being immersed within your characters' state of being. This includes, but is in no way limited to, setting situations through their eyes, acting on situations based on their morals and beliefs, and interacting with their environment whilst acknowledging that every action has a consequence, in that your choices will affect those around you.
What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To coordinate their departments, delegate duties properly, and act as a representative of their department to other command staff. In addition to this, the extra access can greatly help out the rest of your department, especially in emergency settings (this is applicable in every department.)
What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: The whitelisted players, upon being approved, should act as role-models to the player-base, and encourage good behavior/roleplay(as well as practicing it themselves!), while doing their part to behave and follow the rules as well. If I were approved, I would do what I could to carry out these beliefs to the letter, in the aforementioned methods I have already outlined.
Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions.
Character name: Syrus Seto
Character age: 33
Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Syrus Seto was born and raised well-outside of Sol, on a small, man-made moon within the Artifice Rings, constructed to simulate the atmosphere and biology of Terra Firma, which has been named, aptly, Artem Terraris. On his hemisphere of said moon, the only colony/structure to note was a small administration base belonging to Silver Security Solutions Incorporated, a moderately sized corporation specializing in the conditioning and staffing of private security/paramilitary militia professionals.
Like most of the children living near this colony, when Syrus came of age, he enlisted and trained with SSSI, and became a civilian-level security contractor, taking assignments from his handlers ranging from personal bodyguard details, station and colony security, to auxillary navy support. Whilst commissioned as a command staff bodyguard on a small station near Tau Ceti, Syrus met Adriana Posson, whom he later married. They have two children by this point, Gaius and Aelius Seto. After completing his rotation as a command bodyguard, Syrus was assigned to a number more stations, one of which was the NSS Aurora.
What do you like about this character?: This character and myself have an extensive history. Syrus Seto has been my choice character for the past four years I've been playing SS13, and I've grown quite fond of him as a result. I really can't exactly explain why I enjoy standing in Syrus Seto's shoes.
What do you dislike about this character?: How limited he is, training wise. His background doesn't offer for very much leg-work in other departments, and is near-exclusively security/command as a result. To compensate for this, I have to make half a dozen other characters to adequetly enjoy all aspects that SS13 has to offer.
Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff? (Please note that Head characters must be over 30, unless given special clearance): Yes.
Why?: He has survived two years of commanding the security teams of baystation, earning much praise. I'm sure that some of the ex-baystation players that have moved here can vouch for this.
Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions.
How would you rate your own roleplaying?: For lack of a system to this question, I will presume this to be a scale of 0-10, 0 being god-awful, and 10 being miraculous.
I would place myself at an 8.4. I've been playing SS13 for four years now, and have made an attempt on every server I've played on thus far to refine and exercise my roleplaying skills. I am told by many that I am an exceptional roleplayer, capable of balancing my characters out with strengths as well as weaknesses, to ensure that they remain lore-friendly and believable. I wouldn't place myself higher than a nine, because I believe that I still have much to learn in the field of roleplaying. I doubt I'll ever truly consider myself anything above a nine, as roleplaying is something you can never truly master. The techniques to roleplaying are limited only by the characters your imagination can create.
