[Volunteers Needed] Central Command Duty Officers
Serveris replied to Skull132's topic in Completed Projects
Volunteering. (As stated several days ago.) -
I would be very interested in seeing this. Wouldn't be very hard to port over at all. Our current records system is a bit lacking, so this would be great to have. +1.

[Volunteers Needed] Central Command Duty Officers
Serveris replied to Skull132's topic in Completed Projects
Yes. All my support. I would be willing to participate in this duty officer population, should it be passed. This will work out a lot of snags requiring CC intervention ICly. -
Hi there. HoS player here. It's true,I died twice, nearly three times, due to crew shenanigans with atmospherics.once in the AI core, and once-more in robotics. I died several times, but as a victim in this, I wouldn't go as far to call it a gankfest. There was RP to those crew that didn't rush into research murder in mind. I walked into research (armed to the teeth, mind you,), intent on arresting Fortune Bloise. Let it be noted that everyone in security, bar a CSI, was inactive. It was only us two. I armed her, and ordered her to remain in the AI core, so that she could continue to reset Bloise's law uploads. Well. I expected the cyborgs to be around the AI core, looking for a way to drive the impromptu militia of mining/engineering. Boy, was I wrong, and probably should have seen it coming. I kick down the door to the mech bay, and immediately notice Bloise standing in robotics, with three subverted cyborgs. I immediately knew this wasn't going to be easy, and probably wouldn't play out well for me. Needless to say, it didn't. RP was held for a moment, with Syrus demanding she put an end to this. Fortune demanded that he drop his weapons and surrender peacefully. What happened next, I assume full responsibility for, as it was my decision to put myself into the red zone, where I knew I was most likely going to die. Other people on this thread need to realize they got killed because they entered a known war zone, and paid the price. After knocking Fortune into near death, and badly damaging most of her army, nearly putting one out of service, they got me, and I died a second time. I ghosted, and watched Fortune mend her cyborgs, and the mining militia charge into research, and get slaughtered, despite Fortune's suggestion for them to back off. They ignored her warning, and breached robotics, attacking the antag force. They got killed for it, as expected. Their fault. They could have listened to reason, and not rushed the murdersquad with oxygen tanks. Then Jennifer walks into research, against the many warnings by crew, the AI, and Fortune herself over the radio. Did the player listen? No. Why would they do that? They walked right in, and were detained immediately, as expected, and following an exchange of words, was killed off, execution style(which admittedly, was roleplayed, but it could have been roleplayed MORE). Regarding the skillsets. 1. I believe it was long ago agreed that antags be allowed to work slightly outside their defined skill chart, for the sake of keeping things interesting. 2. Regarding the cloning machine. The cyborgs were assisting Fortune in operating the machinery, from what I saw, Fortune was only contributing her hands, whilst the synthetics were interfacing with the APC re-powering genetics, beginning the cloning process, and manipulating the cryo tubes, as quite a few ghosts mentioned also mentioned this in dsay. I would like to see players hone up and admit they made mistakes in the future. There was no way pouring a dozen unarmed civilians into a jaws of hell was going to turn out well. You lot should have realized going through with this wasn't going to turn out good.

Interesting idea. Would give security more to do on extended/slower rounds, especially the warden, and any officers manning the security checkpoint. I'm not sure how I feel about letting them be used as lab rats, though. Something like that would bound to get out to authorities, and I would think NanoTrasen would want to avoid condemning press as best as it could. It might-emphasis on might- attempt this on some of it's other, darker, more higher security stations, such as Convert's god-less shithole where you don't have a prayer in hell of ever seeing a pension, Arcadia station, where apparently, very controversial experiments take place, and live human specimens are treated quite cruelly. As it stands, I like the prospect of a prisoner role being on station. But it needs some tweaking. Perhaps we could say they were detained near the Aurora, and are being kept there (because we were the closest structure with secure holding facilities?) until they can be transported to the Odin for Alliance retrieval? We had something like this on D2K5. Worked out quite well. Then again, we had a much larger prison area to accommodate this, as quite a few bald, thirty year old prisoners were frequently occupying security.

Maybe refluffing security themselves would be in order? Some fair points have been made here, staging solid arguments from both sides. Last I checked from our lore, Nanotrasen held significant influence within the Alliance, due to their substantial financial backing up its Navy and political agenda, enough authority to the point where Sol allows them to, 'commission,' (See: constructing their own cruisers, repurposing Alliance battlecraft to serve in their navy, complete with re-designating them as, 'Nanotrasen Military x,'((NMV Icarus)) spacecraft originally belonging to the Alliance. With this reputable amount of political power in mind, I would imagine Nanotrasen might be able to, 'convince' the Alliance Senate to recognize its paramilitary/security as modern day 'Sky Marshals.' (http://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sky_marshal) Now, what proposed effects this would have, I'm not entirely sure. Maybe refluff the security force to having some sort of connection to the Sol Police Force? A subsidiary law enforcement detachment, perhaps, that Sol had allowed NT to commission in enforcing its corporate regulations, but also holding obligations to the Alliance itself? This could leave security as still being referred to as, 'officers,' I believe. Currently, on baystation 12's most recent code, fax machines are able to send messages to a Sol Police Official/Representative, in addition to central command. I'm not sure how you folks will feel about deviating from the current, 'absolute loyalty to NT and its corporate regulations,' that we commonly see in security, but seeing as how a good deal of you are looking for some form of change, maybe someone can provide constructive input, or build off this suggestion somehow.

No. (Actually +1. Jenna is my favorite mod ever, and would definitely look forward to them being able to play as command.)

I for one am in favor of IA recieving command comms access. This would make briefing them on situations and communication between command much simpler. Whilst playing as a head of security, I find internal affairs invaluable in maintaining order and productivity throughout the station. Every round, I am constantly communicating with IA though my earpiece, my PDA, the fax machine in the bridge, using officers and assistants as message runners when comms are down, and in person. Hell. I would probably communicate with Dorian Bonds with smoke signals, were they implemented. All of this coordinating, whilst also trying to keep the other command staff aware of their activities, is exhausting. As if keeping my officers from beating prisoners, and ensuring proper escalation of force was being used wasn't enough. Them being able to keep themselves informed of command activities would take a load off for sure. +1.

I, personally, would like to see some kind of energy reload system. Maybe have power cells, sprited and fluffed to look like small magazines, that could be loaded and unloaded from energy weapons, and recharged at any standards weapon recharger. I was considering filing a custom item application for an energy pistol (for playing as my HoS character) with this exact functionality.

The purpose of the game isn't to crush the antags, or level the station. It's to construct a fun roleplay environment. Personally, I would like to see the station brought to its knees more often. Those are fun rounds.

Fortport's Head-Whitelist Application.
Serveris replied to Fortport's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Did the raider event with him as well. Very competent officer. Made my job of managing the situation much easier. Was a very capable officer. As for leadership, I'm unsure of Pycroft's potential, as I haven't really seen him take charge of a situation. I'll patiently wait until there's a situation in which he can prove this, and will do what I can ICly to ensure he gets these opportunities. My advice? Roleplay/train with cadets. Working with those as an officer is a good way to display command worthiness, and it can help the community that's trying to learn how to play security here. Until then, withholding my full support. -

The number of Medal of Valor recipients on the Aurora is astounding. -
Quality doctor, very reputable name around medical, and always seem to know what you're doing. Haven't ever seen you do anything command related, though, so I'm not entirely sure of your leadership capabilities. I'd be willing to support this just off your competency as regular medical, though. +1.

Head Whitelist Application

-1. The snowflake special-ness is strong with this one. I have no clue why Nanotrasen, or this 9th battalion, for that matter, would take on someone like this, nevermind hiring them/awarding them a high-tier medal. This history needs some serious revision. And that's all I have to say about this character in particular. Seeing as how the others are not the scope of this application, though, I won't go into details on them. I'll just leave it at, 'They're all equally disappointing, but for different reasons.' Some of which have already been pointed out by others on this thread. -

+1. Hands down, one of Aurora's best roleplayers. Hope their tajara are every bit as comical as their dionae. -
Tony Adams's HoS Whitelist application
Serveris replied to a topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Whoops, started typing this up a few days ago, but didn't submit it! My bad. Alright, here goes. Tony Adams is a fairly well known Warden. He is often praised and spoken highly of on TS, and in private Steam conversations I have with other players. He it's a pretty competent warden, with a sound knowledge of current protocol, as well as the ability to differentiate one similar crime from another, and assign punishments accordingly. My only issue with Adams, and this is totally understandable, as warden can be quite the dull job, is that he is frequently out of the brig, most usually when he's needed. This is a minor issue, though, as he always comes running if enough hails are made over comms. I for one am interested in seeing how he performs in command, and judging from how people speak of him in private conversation, I know I'm not the only one. +1. (Psssst. Need to be a bit more active in advertising your application, otherwise you're going to be waiting a long, long time. ) -
We're getting a merge with Bay's most recent stuff, yes? Bay addressed this months ago, so this should be fixed.

Hunter J Robinsons promotion application request
Serveris replied to Theplahunter's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Need to start treating your detainees better. I can personally attest to unfair, illegitimate, and downright dickish brig sentencing and prisoner management. EDIT: +1. Their performance has increased considerably from what I've seen. Null everything I said before hand, as it's been corrected in the past several weeks. -
Right. So today, there was an engineering incident. Several bombs detonated throughout the station, causing quite a bit of damage. It was when an ERT was summoned to help deal with the incident, that I realized a number of problems. Two, chiefly, that I would like to see fixed. The first and probably most important, being that the ERT is equipped with air pumps and air scrubbers. How nice. A major oversight, however, is that the air pumps are not filled, and are therefore, useless in refilling the station. If the Engineering supply room could at the very least have a small atmospheric refill station to ensure that they're topped off, that would be much appreciated. Second being, the ERT is not equipped with inflatable barriers. None, whatsoever. In events such as the major breach today, the crew did not have enough barriers to adequetly seal the areas. As such, I had to request that an admin spawn some in. On a side note to the ERT, I would also like to see the timer for returning the ERT shuttle to be removed. All it really tends to do is keep a bunch of people sitting around, waiting for the timer to countdown, so that they can return to the Odin. This leads to some rather dull RP for the ERT, and anyone they may have brought back with them. In addition to this, using the ERT shuttle as an evacuation point, (The AI is about to blow the station, the nykes have set the nuke for detonation in two minutes, while the shuttle will be here in eight,) no longer becomes viable, because even if the crew manage to get to it, they still have to wait thirty minutes for the timer to be reset. I personally find this unrealistic, as if there were an actual emergency that may require a speedy extraction, there most certainly would not be a delay on how quickly the shuttle could return. That being said, I do see why it is in place. It was designed in hopes of making sure the ERT did a thorough job on its operation. But honestly, not all red alerts take an ERT an entire hour to resolve. In short, I propose the removal of this timer mechanism from the shuttle computer, or at the very least reducing it from an hour, to say, 5-20m. I feel like these are very basic things that any self-respectig repair crew should have. If anyone else feels that the other areas of the ERT require attention, feel free to throw in your issues here as well, and maybe we can get a mapper to get this taken care of.

I've seen you like. Three times in the past month tops. Really haven't seen you play at all until today. -
Quality roleplayer, easily one of Aurora's best. Seen them do synthetics a couple times, think they've got the mindset for it down. EDIT: Forgot to add my official +1.
