I personally would just make the transformation sting much, much more visible to bystanders in the area. Lings that do this get away with it 90% of the time, so people really can't make backups of it without borderline powergaming it. Might add a significant cooldown period for it as well, so that an antag can't spam it in the bar, and have half the station be Fortune Bloise in thirty seconds flat (or for people to fire extinguisher + monkey cube their way to victory from a maintenance closet five minutes into a round). Especially not without Urist McOfficer seeing his buddy get jabbed in the back by a giant stinger.

I'm not taking a definitive stance on this until a loredev provides some input here. Could it be done? Yes. Rather easily. If there was something passed along these lines, it would probably be handled on a case by case basis, rather than siik maas open for grabs on anyone that wants it. Similar situations such as this have been handled on other servers by characters applying to appropriate lore staff for having knowledge of such things, as they would any other whitelist or privilege.

It's been feasible for a while. Skull's just been too busy to set up an application procedure for this particular situation.

A custom synthetic sprite. The code for this is doable, although, it has a slight catch to it. We need variants of these sprites for each cyborg module. One for security, one for mining, one for janiborg, etc.

Love the idea of command dorms, the teleporter, command restroom. The captain's quarters looks AMAZING. It all looks really cool. Two things I wanted to address, though. The main bridge area is way, way too large. Larger rooms are not appealing. I like the 'cramped space station' aesthetic that most Aurora areas have going. Maybe reduce that? Add some tables, or a desk area? Something to make it not look like a storage warehouse with a desk on one end. Second thing. The general security of the bridge is reduced considerably. Breaking into command areas here would be incredibly easy. Too easy. Any decently equipped intruder could easily crack into most of these areas in no time at all. It's hardly a secure area anymore. Needs more fortification, imo.

That's mainly a gameplay thing in my mind. It'd give traitor IPCs an astounding advantage Icly. They already have a staggering advantage on other species.

BYOND Key:Serveris6 Character Names:Syrus Seto, Merrik, Fate, Robert Graham, Spectre, Kr'see Veeris, Misilithais Uaekis, Morgan Goodman, Keaton Fullbright, Riley Marx, Janus Seto, Taeyss Viserys How long have you been playing on Aurora:Seven to eight months. Species you are applying to play:Integrated Positronic Chassis (IPC) What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt):N/A Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:No, due to it not having been finished, but I have read Baystation's lore for it extensively. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race:Because I like the concept of being able to play with a mechanical, robotic mindset, without having to restrict my roleplay in the form of four poorly designed laws on the pretext of restricting gameplay potential. Additionally, quite a few people I enjoy roleplaying with have recently taken up IPC characters, and have been encouraging me to pursue one as well. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:IPCs are mechanical, synthetic beings, which were originally designed into servitude, but somehow managed to piece together funding to purchase out their contract, and acquire a chassis from which they now occupy. They are immune to pain and fear, however are still expected to take self-preservation actions due to the value of their chassis, and it not being something that they can easily replace or live without. They do not eat, nor do they sleep, but rather, they must frequently draw electricity from their environment to compensate for this. Why does this species in particular hold your interest? As stated above, they are a 'race' of sentient machines, which have purchased their right to live independent lives. I feel like having access to this venue will allow me to expand into a new realm of roleplaying, as I have with unathi. I currently hold a unathi whitelist, and find the experience of playing as something not-human much more appealing than I originally expected it to be, and would like to expand further. Character Name:Praetorian Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs: Originally, the Praetorian android series were a line of products offered by Silver Moon Security Solutions Incorporated, bid off to clients to serve as property and individual protection resources. The units were essentially rented out to whomever can afford them, and hardcoded to prioritize the client's requested purpose, much as how Nanotrasen programs their synthetic units with the 'four laws.' They were charged from bodyguard details, overseeing packages of land (both privately owned and government controlled), to protecting places of business during riots or high tension situations. During one such contract, a Praetorian android, serial number SMSS-089D, was leased to the Mendell City Police Department, and assigned to precinct 37. The android was tasked to serve as a patrol unit - even partnered alongside an organic police officer - for the duration of fifteen years, building considerable popularity and respect with its colleagues at the precinct. Following the expiration of its contract, which could not be renewed due to budget cuts within the city police force, the model was slated for decommisioning. Upon hearing of the company's plans for their highly favoured mechanical comrade, a large portion of the police force pooled together a sum of credits in order to purchase Silver Moon's title claim on the praetorian android, as well as a chassis for it to occupy. 089D was emancipated, and transferred into the chassis. Over the next ten years, it took the name Praetorian, abandoning its serial number for identifying itself, and collected a paycheck as a normal officer, living within Mendell City. After growing tired of the city, it began to seek work elsewhere, inevitably landing it a position on the internal security service of the NSS Aurora. What do you like about this character? That they had a thoroughly fleshed out career prior to working with Nanotrasen. Most of my characters lack a thorough career before having worked for the company, and none of them have had a strict allegiance to a government system before this one. I'm looking forward to roleplaying as a mechanical character with a strong sense of patriotism towards the Sol Alliance. How would you rate your role-playing ability?:Exceptional, although, as stated in my other whitelist applications, it can definitely be improved, and I'm always looking for ways to flesh it out, and refine it by playing as different roles, such as IPC and unathi. Notes:Beep boop.

Finally. Clothing with REAL character definition plainly visible, something that can actually raise eyebrows. +1.

Tempted to -1 this just for the irony of the admin charged with applications not having their application approved. But that's asinine, and unjust. Few people deserve command whitelist more than Tish. He's already done a lot in giving to the community, and an interested in seeing how he contributes in this manner. +1

You mentioned that the manifest this round was wiped. I don't suppose you know how this happened? What caused all those records to disappear? I believe this information is crucial. Many AIs have personally wiped station records just do that they may put this loophole into effect. Just trying to make sure that isn't what happened here.

My thoughts regarding everyone requesting clothing items as of late (coats especially.) The bulk of these that have gone through have added next to no extra roleplay value to players that got them. Why do we keep requesting these, out of curiosity? All they've provided thus far is to make your character visually different, which, last I recall, is explicitly stated that this is not what custom items are for. What's the exception here? EDIT: Found it.

Skullikins is currently the Interim Head Admin. A new one will be selected once all the musical chairs business concerning staff promotions has finally settled down.

Outboarduniform Head Whitelist

Your character's name and ckey are completely blanking on me. What jobs does this character usually take, again? -
Addendum: The aforementioned individual was presented with a copy of his approved injunction form, which he was allowed to take possession of.

Concerning the bit of stacking a thirty minute sentence against you, this is doable, but will catch a head of security some serious flak. 'Sir, why is this man in the brig for an hour?' 'Vandalism.' 'That's fifty minutes more than a maximum penalty for vandalism should be, you're literally Hitler.' More often than not, if you insist on causing problems for security during an emergency situation, they will keep you in the prison wing until the alert level is lowered. This generally requires admin permission, though. Sound familiar to your situation? This was the command team's intention in involving admins in the first place. As said in my previous post, I do enjoy encounters like this as security and command. They make slow rounds more interesting. Like all things, however, there is a proper time for them to occur. The rounds in question were simply not the right time for your flavor of antagonizing. This being said, I do indeed look forward to the day I play an rp-rev with you, as you seem to have a great amount of potential in filling that role. My advice to take from this whole encounter? Maybe not completely lose the edgy attitude in your characters. Just tone it down a bit, perhaps, do that incidents like this don't repeat themselves. There are plenty of edgy/passive aggressive characters on Aurora, but the really memorable ones don't end up overshadowing/drowning out the true antagonists when they decide to make their appearence. This has been said already, but I was not the only one that brought this to administration. There were several, I believe, and not all of them were even security/command. They were regular players our observers that simply didn't approve of your actions, for whatever reason. -

Hi. I was the head of security, Syrus Seto, during the round that set this off. Let me start with saying that as a security player, I do relish the opportunities to play these little cat and mouse games with people, if there's nothing going on. Here's the kicker. Everytime I've seen you do this, there was always something going on. The station was on elevated alert. People were getting killed. At this point, the cute self-antagging needs to stop. Security no longer has time to cater you your, quite frankly, annoying antics. We were wholly occupied with dealing with the real antags of these rounds, on top of dealing with your pointless, repetitive antics. It was cute, even entertaining, the first two times you got detained. It got old fast, however, as we had far more pressing issues (a vampire murdering people in the dorms, and later causing considerable damage to the brig itself,) to handle. The way I see it, you needlessly self-antagged, getting arrested around half a dozen times for seemingly no regard for consequences aside from staring at a wall for five minutes. Maybe you felt this is what enabled you to keep doing it. My point being, once things got heated, the other command staff, and a significant amount of regular crew got fed up with your shenanigans, and pressured us to take action. I apologize for not making this a better roleplay experience for you, but as stated, you were of secondary concern to the bodies that were dropping elsewhere. When I realized you intended to make this a continuous problem throughout the round, I, as well as other players having to cope with the backlash of your crime spree, pleaded with my fellow staffmembers to allow us to take advanced action against you, so that the station's resources could focus on the larger problems at hand. I feel they took the more generous rite route in simply speaking with you, and not actually issuing a ban, or any form of punishment. Doomberg and Sound Scopes were just doing their jobs as admins. If you really want to take someone's head on a stick, then feel free to file a complaint against myself. These two were simply catering to the community requesting they take action against you. -
No problem on my end. Perfectly willing to make adjustments to this, if Tish has no objections.

Great player, handles their current species whitelists well. All around cool person. I'm excited to see how she spins this character out. +1.

Could try taking a crack at making themself, or commissioning a server spriter. Seems Sam there has you covered on the flag portion. -

Get some sprites for the approved items and we will be set. -
With my head of security character, I try and play the gentleman as often as possible. Delegate security to the letter, whilst only getting directly involved in pursuits/arrests where necessary due to an emergency situation, lack of capable officers, or already having been at the right place at the right time. I don't allow personal relationships, or negative opinions of crew to influence my professional decisions, particularly in sentencing. As Seto, I maintain a resolute loyalty to Nanotrasen, trumped only by his moral standards and ethics that all life is valued, and that the only time a man is justified in killing another is if that action can result in a further loss of lives, and as such, limit antagonistic actions to a bare minimum, and always choose mercy where possible. Essentially, when I created Syrus Seto, I modeled him after the stereotypical white knight protector.

Need sprites on these items. Contact a spriter and have these arranged.
