Jawdat Organization Task Force(Visible to IA/Cmnd./Sec)
Serveris replied to Serveris's topic in NanoTrasen Public Network
CURRENT TASK FORCE MEMBERS -
ESTABLISHING CONNECTION... ..CONNECTION ESTABLISHED. >>PLEASE ENTER LOG-IN CREDENTIALS<< >USER: cmiller@nanotrasen.net. >PASS: *********** ..PROCESSING... ... ... ... LOGIN SUCCESSFUL. CLEARANCE: CENTRAL COMMAND INTERNAL AFFAIRS ... ... ://PREPARE MESSAGE >>PLEASE SPECIFY RECEPIENTS. ://COMMAND-LEVEL EMPLOYEES, INTERNAL AFFAIRS. "Afternoon, ladies and gentlemen. I'm sure you've all seen the evidence lately, or maybe heard the rumors around the office involving organized criminal activities onboard the civilian-class research vessel, the NSS Aurora. Several weeks ago, a large sum of funds was confirmed to have disappeared from station accounts. In the past few days, multiple employees provided testimonies to the station's internal security service suggesting that certain company employees are currently involved in organized crime. Following a thorough internal affairs investigation of these events, I believe we've set up sufficient ground work to give the green-light on setting up a corporate task force to find those responsible. Over the next few weeks, possibly even months, the internal affairs department here on the NMSS Odin will be organizing a volunteer-built task force built of medium-level management, the internal affairs department, and select internal security employees dedicated to running audits on employees suspected to have had a hand in this. Applicants need only respond to this system-wide broadcast, (preferably with any evidence you may have) to my corporate messaging address." ://SEND_MESSAGE >>COMMAND CONFIRMED. SENDING TO RECIPIENTS... ...TASK COMPLETE. CONNECTION LOST (USER DISCONNECTED) ((Alright. Essentially, a counter-movement to Jackboot's Jawdat Crime Organization. I've cleared the creation of this thread/initiative with the admin team, the mod team, and Jackboot himself. All have approved of its creation. If the admin-team or Jackboot himself requests that this initiative be dissolved, then they need only PM me. I am on their side, and will comply with all requests issued by them. Furthermore, if this becomes a serious problem OOCly, ie, immersion breaking, deemed as a means of unrestrained powergaming/metagaming, it will be dissolved. Concerns may be expressed to me via forum PM. As is Jawdat's organization, anyone is cleared to join this initiative. The only pre-requisites being that you have either an internal affairs agent character, or a command character. Select security-characters have may also be selected, however I plan for very few characters outside of CC/IA/Command to be involved in this initiative, as it would be classified as a subdivision of the internal affairs department. Furthermore, only characters cleared to work with the task force (That being players that have PM'd myself, expressed interest for their character(s) to join the initiative, and are recognized as associates of the task force) will have access to the evidence/information that may be archived here. The point of my constructing this organization is for players looking to act as an opposing force to the Jawdat organization have something to unify behind, and to share/archive evidence compiled against the crime-organization from rounds on the server. This has been an on-going thing since the inception of Jawdat's organization, however has not been officialized until now. The general rules for task force players are this: In order for evidence to be considered canon (and therefore valid to be posted on this thread, and acted on by other task force members in future rounds,) both parties must agree OOCly that the incident itself is canon. This includes tesitmonies by crew, and MOST CERTAINLY arrests made on criminals that have confessed involvement with the Jawdat organization This would mean that... Urist McWitness(Player A) speaks with Urist McAgent(Player B). The agent records the testimony of the witness. At the end of the round. Player A and Player B would agree OOCly that this event would be canon. OR Urist McThug(Player A) is arrested for committing crimes. Whilst detained, they confess to Urist McDetective(Player B) or Urist McAgent(Player B) that they carried out these crimes for the Jawdat organization(and from what I've been told by Jackboot, retainers for the Jawdats are supposed to have his explicit approval before doing these illegal things.). Again, Player A and Player B would have to both OOCly agree for this information to be valid evidence. Evidence that is found to be OOCly invalid will be considered non-canon. Be prepared to have OOC support backing any evidence that you post on this thread. You are not to make arrests based off of evidence listed on this thread. If sufficient evidence is amassed as a result of this task force, I will speak to Jackboot about having some sort of law enforcement event take place off-station (The evidence will likely be turned over to Sol Alliance peacekeepers, and action/prosecution will ensue), but this will left at his discretion. Such an event will require his explicit OOC permission, as well as the OOC permission of all those involved before it's even remotely considered viable. The OOC purpose of this initiative is not, "lolarrestjawdats." It is to provide a fun, two-sided challenge to players. Classic outlaws vs. Peacekeepers. This will hopefully be a drawn-out thing, and an interesting experience for Jawdat-sympathizers, and law-enforcing individuals. Yes, the IC-purpose of a task force is to compile evidence, and obtain a conviction. Let us keep in mind that Nanotrasen is not a law-enforcing body. The evidence compiled would either be used to terminate the employment of those involved, or turned over to Alliance police. Possibly both. As stated previously, you are not to take action based off of this evidence without Jackboot and myself having confirmed it. Simply PM one of us to start this process, and together, we will decide what sort of action will be taken. Normal server rules are to be abided by task force members. You are not using this initiative to topple server rules. Yes, by being involved in this whole ordeal, you are borderline breaking the 'metagrudging,' rule, which is why I have sought out permission from the admin/mod team before processing this. When in doubt, attain the OOC permission of all those involved in the incident. As stated, if this becomes a problem, the entire project will be scrapped. Forum PM myself on this post for any questions you may have. This thread is considered a work in progress, and will likely be subject to several revisions over the next few weeks. Those interested in joining the initiative need only message me their character's name, standard station rank. Note that this does not automatically entitle you a spot on the task force. Think logically. A project manager likely wouldn't approve of enlisting a low-paid janitor with multiple felonies on record. As specified, those characters involved are expected to hold internal affairs positions, investigative security positions (Detective, CSI), and command.))

[Denied] Kane DeWitt - Worn Leather Jacket/Outlands Jacket
Serveris replied to Kane's topic in Denied Apps
Bump? I believe the whole code merge is resolved at this point. Just the occasional pull request for bug squashing seems to be going on. -
Psst. It's not a secret research facility. The location isn't hidden or anything. It's a secure private facility, yes. Not a secret. I always imagined it as being like The White House. Or the Kremlin. Anyone with a map and a brain can find it. But if you get too close, expect complications. If you set foot on it, see: trespass on corporate property http://dictionary.law.com/Default.aspx?selected=2160then expect to be tased.

The revised Backstory of Rose Watson and Hawk Silverstone

Head of Security Syrus Seto sighed, PDA in hand, looking out his office window, into the black void of Tau Ceti. On the other side of the desk, sat a blonde woman, dressed in feminine captain's attire, 'Elena Raschnikova' printed on her visible ID card. A ceramic teacup, complete with saucer, rested on the surface, steaming with freshly brewed Duke Purple Tea. It was a slow day aboard the NMSS Odin. This wasn't anything new. Even the Pheonix response team had downtime. It was days like this that Commander Marcus Kaplan would allow him to board the shuttle onto the Aurora, take up the mantle of head of security for a few hours, and hopefully, relax for a bit. As it would turn out, today was a quiet day for the Aurora as well. Syrus turned his attention back to his PDA screen, and began flicking through news pages on his choice news networks, taking a slightinterest in the recent "New contact," stories he'd been seeing. He'd fallen behind on his current events, these included, as a result of a week-long vacation taken up until now. "Have you heard anything about this?", he asked, sliding the PDA across the table to the blonde captain. "Yes," she replied, tapping one of the articles on the screen, "I know another rotational captain. They worked when this whole business happened. Told me all about it." Syrus nodded, and retrieved his PDA, and began reading through the story she had indicated quietly, as well as a few related stories. Perplexed, he accessed the remaining news archives, hoping to see more news on this incident soon, and configured his newsfeed to display future stories with the keywords, "Titan Prime," and "Johan Kreevs."

Yessssssss. Love the attention to detail! One question, though. Why do we still have that courtroom?

-@L/Tpr_Spectre @actualdragon Some holiday from a couple hundred years ago. Based on Terra Firma. People working today need something to keep spirits up, you know? Sucks to be them. Looking forward to some downtime after this whole Alliance blockade business. #paidvacation #PhoenixERT #romanovichcloud #MissingContact Syrus Seto

Go ahead and dwarf Syrus Seto, if you feel like. Drop me on that magic list of your's.

Would make nice alternative uniforms, yes. I'd wear them. Maybe not make it a total replacement for officer/HoS hat uniform, though.

Love, love, love the current PDAs. They're perfect as they are. These remind me of, say, a handheld GPS. They look very out of place with the current setting. As stated, I'm very content with the current design. Then there's the IDs. The current ones are quite atrocious, and in dire need of replacing, however I don't see these as very suitable replacements. To be frank, they kind of remind me of combs. For brushing hair.

Agreed, combat needs to be more harsh. Maybe this will build up for some more realistic injuries in medical. It's a bit immersion breaking for someone to have a bottle broken off in their eye, but by the time they get to medical, it's just a, 'tiny bruise,' that's so miniscule, mechanics won't even allow you to bandage it. Full support. Take this down a few notches, please.

I feel like this application rapidly descended into a discussion board for possibilities of antag shenanigans. Like I said a few days ago, most people with access to the station LIs are more than willing to accommodate you. Just. Ask a warden/HoS for it. Security has more than enough of them, for god knows what contingency. We can always spare a couple.
-
Yeah. Think it also factors in when selecting people for traitor. The only thing I'm sure of though, is that it reflects your chances of being named in the command report. And, you know. You're kind of expected OOCly to roleplay your characters' dispositions.

BYOND Key: Character Names: Syrus Seto, (L/Tpr Seto), Janus Seto, Robert Graham, Spectre, Keaton Fullbright, Merrik, Fate, Riley Marx, How long have you been playing on Aurora:Four-Five months. Can't exactly remember how long. Species you are applying to play:Unathi. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Diona exempt):Light gray. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?:Sure have. Great reading material. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race:Because I've heard of how fun playing lizard-security can be, but have never actually tried it. Therefore, this is me attempting to try it out. Additionally, I've never saw the use of pursuing an alien whitelist on any other server, excluding Aurora, namely because the lore elsewhere is horrible. Unathi appear to be very fun to play, as evidenced by the slew of dialogue I've observed whilst playing on the server. Quite pointedly, I want to be a part of the unathi community. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:A great deal of things. There's the obvious-appearence related quirks, such as unathi closely resembling reptiles, with anatomy similar to crocodiles and serpents. Beyond that, however, there is a great cultural difference between Unathi and humanity, especially within the Moghean-caste of unathi culture. Unathi tend to be strongly honor-bound, and their lives tend to be strongly dictated by racial tradition. Why does this species in particular hold your interest? As stated previously, I wish to create a security-based character whom is a unathi. Choosing this species over the tajara was not an easy decision, although I do plan on applying for both species, however decided to go with unathi first for this; I prefer the unathi lore to all the other species. I like the concepts laid out for this species, and think that I would enjoy playing as one. Character Name:K'rsee Veeris Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs:K'rsee has thus far lived a particularly uninteresting life. Born in very small village on the outskirts of a stretch of Moghean jungle, occupied solely by his clan, he grew up isolated from the outside world for the most part. What news he heard of the outside world came in the form of other hunting parties, and trade caravans passing through the area. As a result, much against his displeasure, he grew up alone, living a sheltered life. As he came of age, his duties within the clan generally consisted of documenting, and looking after the quarries that the clan's hunters brought in, and ensuring that they were stored properly throughout the day. Often, when night fell, his duties consisted of watching over the village's perimeter, and keeping hostile wildlife at bay. Upon reaching the age of nineteen, finally fed up with having lived within the village, K'rsee packed away his belongings one afternoon, and left after saying farewell to his closest family members, departed, heading through the jungle he had spent his entire life living next to, hoping to reach one of the numerous cities on the other side. Following several days of travel, he had arrived. For several months, he took part in a series of odd-jobs, such as repairing damaged housing, delivering packages, and assisting vendors in setting up their places of business. It was during one such day, that while working within a Nanotrasen-funded embassy within the wealthier district, K'rsee was made aware of the rapid expansion of the super-corporation. Enthralled that such an organization could exist, he decided to remain within the ranks of the corporation, and with the assistance, and encouragement of several of the embassy-workers, managed to land a position in the Nanotrasen Internal Security Service. Following several years of academy work, Cadet Veeris learned corporate regulations, standard operating procedure, and a great deal more about human, skrellian, and tajaran culture. After attaining the rank of security officer, Veeris served numerous assignments on Nanotrasen-owned property throughout known space, ranging from representative offices (such as where he worked originally), to small supply depots on the fringes of known space. It was during this string of assignments that Veeris was assigned to the NSS Aurora, the very first orbital station he had ever been assigned on. What do you like about this character? The opportunity to play as a, 'newer,' security officer, and a character generally new to working in space in general. Additionally, as this is the first alien species I've seen worthwhile applying for, I'm eagerly looking forward to the prospect of them being a unathi. Additionally, I like the prospect that this character had a rather simple backstory, so that I can define them more through playing them, rather than attempting to write about them. How would you rate your role-playing ability?I would rate myself as being an exceptional roleplayer, but like any skill in the world, you can never truly master it. There's always new roles to try out, and always different ways to improve yourself further. I consider playing as an alien species a method in which I can further refine my roleplaying abilities. Notes:If anything within the backstory seems out of place, simply let me know. I intentionally designed it to be as plain, smooth, and un-snowflakely as possible, so that I have plenty of room to play/develop this character as I see fit.

Great robutt. Would make a great IPC. +1.

They might, so long as Quihtzin continued doing security roles.
-
This sounds like a pretty wicked cool idea, tbh. Has my support.

I'm not a dev for Aurora, but it would take five minutes tops to code it in. Try nagging an official coder to devote the five minutes to seeing it through. From the desire from the community for this, I'm surprised that no devs has tended to it already. Makes me think Skull/Scopes might have spoken against it at some point, discouraging it from being a thing. Not going to get into that, though. My point being, making this a loadout option would be very simple, it's just a matter of being approved by those in authority.

This is folly. RNG often selects my loyalist/head of security character as an antagonist, despite me not having antagonist roles checked off on character creation for them. I've looked into this for a while now, but can determine no cause. I make do with having admins remove my antagonist-state whenever it happens. Still frustrating for RNG to disregard my preferences, though. This being said, when someone wanted implants on Bay, they just walked up to security, and asked for one in LOOC, and it was given. I've done this on Aurora a couple times as HoS, and am still willing to. Just ask the head of security for one every round. Not like the brig has any shortage of the damn things.

Courtesy. Be courteous to everyone, yes, even the janitor. Encourage your subordinates to do this as well. This is a big one. I don't care if you're a xenophobic unathi that believe women are only good for breeding, DON'T LET IT SHOW THROUGH IN YOUR ADMINISTRATION WORK. This applies especially when you're intruding in another department on your department's business. Thank the receptionist for letting you in. Don't start demanding things of the hosting department, and most certainly, don't try and tell them how to do their job. If you simply must call someone out on something, take it to that person's head of staff, or internal affairs. Solid connections are your most important effort as security and engineering, and you're not going to get those connections through demanding them, you EARN them. These connections are also applicable to medical, and engineering, although I find it primarily useful in high command/security. It never hurts to always strive to be polite.
