Player Complaint: Serveris, Syrus Seto
Tainavaa replied to Frances's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
In my experience - when carp is around the station - security is pretty on the ball when it comes to hunting and eradicating the pest. I think the fact that it was nuke was inconsequential. I see security going EVA to carp-hunt quite a bit no matter the round. In fact, I personally see to it that the station is cleared of carp in and around its immediate area myself. EDIT: Didn't read the thread, just read the last post. Still gonna keep the content because why not. -
THIS SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY AT THE ULTIMATE NANOTRASEN BOXING CHAMPIONSHIPS. BECOME THE ULTIMATE NANOTRASEN BOXING CHAMPION THIS SUNDAAAAAYYYYYYY.

I will admit I do favor this brig because the insanity ward and the communal area. Infirmary also seems to have ample space for medicine. Maybe it could be smaller? I don't know all that's going into it I just know that the infirmary is more for just cuts-and-bruises type stuff. Either way, I like this one much better than the current brig we have as well.

Player Complaint: Terrence Frank/Bobbyswagger
Tainavaa replied to nanotoxin's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
You aren't wrong. I agree. But what he did was extortion. Attempted, anyway. You aren't wrong here either but what does on a regular basis is be a horrible example of IA and only serves to hinder the efforts of the crew and incite a hostile work environment; usually nothing more. At least in my experience. Everything else is irrelevant to my issues with him. And "Be a horrible example of IA" doesn't mean he doesn't know how to do his job, because he does. My issue isn't the character. It is the decisions as a loyalty implanted individual. But answering that question changes nothing, and I stand by my claims. -
Player Complaint: Terrence Frank/Bobbyswagger
Tainavaa replied to nanotoxin's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Extorting the crew makes people feel insecure in NanoTrasen's ability to manage and maintain an operational work environment. This causes animosity in the professional relationship between NanoTrasen and its employees, and breaks the trust that people should have in the internal affairs department in moderating workplace behavior. Not only that but you are making a personal profit at the expense of NanoTrasen. This is working against NanoTrasen on several accounts. Insulting the crew and making passive aggressive or otherwise snide remarks sparks animosity and resentment from the people that were insulted or had the remark against them. This causes a hostile work environment, which is what internal affairs is supposed to prevent. This is working against NanoTrasen. Therefore, the loyalty implant is not being listened to. Terrence Frank, aside from that, insists on doing security's job and I can attest to Terrence personally taking it upon himself to include himself in any situation that might be construed as more than petty. This is not how internal affairs agents should not be behaving, and is in fact calling for an internal affairs investigation AGAINST an internal affairs agent that IS loyalty implanted. Behaving in a professional demeanor and doing what a proper internal affairs agent should be doing IS listening to your loyalty implant. Neither of those, it seems to me, is happening. -
BYOND Key: Tainavaa Character Names: Tina Kaekel, Anna Lee, John Eagleton, True Lemming synthetics, few others How long have you been playing on Aurora:~10 months Species you are applying to play: Diona Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've been wanting to play a diona for some time but hadn't cared enough to get a whitelist to play one until recently. I've always been a fan of flora-based species in all sorts of games - and usually, they're my favorite. To me, the flora-like species are harbingers of wisdom and exemplary specimens of the age-old concept of balance in the universe. As flora, it just seems to me that they are accepting of all things coming be it life, death, or any sort of change; minimal or cataclysmic. I have it in my mind that they are -at their core - Buddha: The Species. Also I want to get my diona whitelist in before the flood so I can say I did it before it was cool, like Jackboot. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Mechanically speaking, their need for light and their ability to thrive from radiation; which are integral to them healing apparently which I did not know but just makes them cooler. They're also not people at all but like two boops of floral organisms together, operating as one unit. And thankfully, the human psyche does not need to come into account because of what I described in the prior question of them just accepting of all that is and happens in the universe. They are just there; literal leaves in the figurative motherfucking wind. Zen. read as: space hippies Character Name: All Intertwine Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs I've said this before; I honestly do not care much for initial backstories for characters. I don't find them integral to playing or having a character. The backstories are generally compromised of canon experiences to my characters after conception. I also find that my characters flesh out a bit differently, so they're simply concepts. I'll provide what I can though. All Intertwine is a diona entity that understands everything around it as all things material and psychic on any plane are extensions of one another. As each organism that operates with the other to make a functional diona entity, so each individual agent in the universe is an equivalence to make a functional system to sustain itself. Anything that happens good or bad, happens because we have willed it - as a singular unit - to happen as a necessary function in the universe's operation. If one dies, then it was necessary; if one dies and comes back to life, then it was necessary. That is not to say it is "fate" because it the universe is an everchanging entity and not bound by one course of action. As such: All Intertwine sees no good or evil, and makes no judgments on anyone or anything for any reason, ever. A passive passerby in events unfolding. In addition to their belief, they refer to themselves as they see the rest of the universe; All Intertwine. They are extensions of everything and everyone, and everyone and everything is an extension of them. It's a reverence to the very existence of the universe, basically. What do you like about this character? Its view of everything, ever. It gives it a very druid/treant feel to it I think. And I like it. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Fine Notes: The name may or may not be a placeholder. I'm honestly trying to think of a not-pretentious 'identifier' for a dione, preferably not poetic either. If I fail to come up with a better name that still fits what is most prominent in its consciousness, then I'll stick with that name.

I have to agree with both Delta and Brage. I don't enjoy Lauren myself, because despite TechnoKat's justification, she just reminds me of what people often describe goon/tg station characters and playstyles. No matter what, for no matter what charge, you can not trust Lauren NOT to try and disarm/push you and take your weapon as an officer - even if she's in there for 3-4 minutes. That's much more than just being a hooligan. I believe some sort of punishment needs to happen here.
-
Oh I see. The bottom door is supposed to be the access doorway to the processing officer and such. Thanks.

I disagree entirely on job-bans. They had an idea with a precedence and decided they would follow through for some RP and to get what they want. I am entirely against it because I know for a fact I hated being told that I couldn't do thing because somebody didn't like it. It completely ruined the entire game for me, and it made me stop playing for a while. Those restrictions were officially lifted, and I'm thoroughly enjoying the game again. Was it entirely for reals serious RP? No, but like I said before, it was done with PURPOSE and with FUN in mind. Which is what's important. It COULD have been fun, but the cultists immediately jumped to screaming "Powergame!" and "Shitcurity!" and instead overreacted both OOC and IC. Had they known OOC what their intentions were, I'm certain it wouldn't have gone the way it did HOWEVER that is absolutely no fun at all and I find communicating things like that to ruin said fun. Maybe others do enjoy it, I don't know. But I completely believe that what security did was in good faith. Johnny, I have the most ominous feeling you missed some critical points in this thread.
-
It's definitely a start. If I may make a suggestion, though? That blue area I colored in at the maintenance tunnel? Turn that into a medical access hallway, maybe? I know it doesn't jive well with the maintenance tunnel that it would connect to but something I really appreciated from the first brig was the medical access hallway to the infirmary. I thought that was cool. Also I MAY be missing it, but what is technically the processing room now?
-
I am looking strictly at the mentality, Cassie. As I said. It was done entirely in bad faith. Security had some form of roleplay in mind. I maintain my stance, and would really like to see some antag bans.
-
I am all for this if not JUST because we practically have NO diona, ever. Be prepared though, Jackboot. You're going to start a Diona trend. Thanks to you we're going to have slow as all hell, pacifist trees walking around the station and even fighting our wars. Thanks a lot.
-
But you didn't bother giving it a chance, Cassie. It was forgone completely without ever being given a chance. Instead you just blew up instead of seeing what came of it along with everyone else. That shows to me a complete inability to cope with unexpected, unwanted thing. You may dislike what happened, as EvilBrage didn't, but you could have done something like he did and manned up (figuratively), and dealt with it. But you didn't. I completely disagree with the validity of your complaints however, especially with what just came to light by Skull's post. I am still for antag-bans.
-
No, Josh was not a participant. He was merely an observer. Also, I am not against some antag-bans here personally. People have shown clear inability to cope with a situation and could not handle losing. EvilBrage in particular handled losing pretty well, even though he didn't enjoy what the cult did after the jailbreak. In fact, he said they were shitlers afterward but during the events he played it out. What I said seems to hold true. People were unable to cope with unexpected thing happening and instead of roleplaying it out, it was flown off the handle because thing happened that wasn't what they wanted. There was no restraint whatsoever, and ended up with guns and literally shooting people in the head ON SIGHT to down them and force convert them. People who had absolutely no idea what was even going on. I've seen Lauren Blade in particular do this twice right outside the brig. Honestly what security did was questionable at best considering the intent was not to keep them there permanently. I don't think any action should be taken against the members of security. I want to reinforce the idea of antag-bans though. That was just completely ridiculous, and I have every reason to believe it was done in bad faith.
-
Cassie, I think you might be missing the point. You are blaming them for everything that ensued. I am stating that that is completely untrue. You don't say "But that doesn't count" and it just doesn't count. It counts, it counts for a lot actually. As I said. If the engineering cult didn't blow up in butt mad, chances are, the outcomes would have been much more reasonable and much, much more enjoyable for all parties involved. Including the observers. What COULD have happened was that you could have worked around the ridiculous charges and went with it, done whatever, got released, and got your revenge later on in a much more enjoyable and satisfying fashion. Especially if it was a "taste of your own medicine" kind of way. That would have been pretty awesome. What COULD have happened if you decided not to comply is something I outlined earlier. NOBODY would have been the wiser. Literally nobody, except the observers. Is security blameless? Maybe not. I thought it was a good idea what Brage had personally but you don't have to agree. You weren't going to be in the permabrig permanently. People think that because it has "perma-" in the name that it MUST be a permanent solution. I disagree, and in fact, I think it should be utilized much more. And in this way, it was supposed to be used as a motivator. And instead of roleplaying and rolling with it and see what comes of it, everyone explodes in just ANAL ANGER upon being detained and completely forgo any roleplay in favor of slinging shit at each other because "I DON'T LIKE THING THAT HAPPENED". One thing I CAN say for certain is that engineering cult is by NO means innocent on ANY account. Once you had control, you HAD control. That includes all the territory that comes with being IN control. What you decided to do with is take your OOC anger and manifest it IC in the most tangible way possible, instead of actually roleplaying it.
-
Which is directly related to my previous post. Honestly if everyone didn't overreact and just explode in tush terrorism and let it play out, I think it would have ended up just fine. You can't rightly place blame on someone especially when there were other, more rational courses of action. Especially since after you had the warden under control, the cult literally had security under control. You could have converted/killed them, and had security on your side and walk out of the brig free and possibly with more in your ranks. Instead, you were all extremely upset and decided the only course of action was to raid the armory, shoot people, force convert them, and generally sink the station into a state of anarchy. Because let's be honest. Once you walked out of that brig. Who would have confronted you? The dead/converted officers? Probably not. Even if you didn't escape and had let it play out without incident. What would have happened? The warden would have ensured the power was on, and he would have released all of engineering back into the station to flutter around and do your dark deeds.
-
EvilBrage had the intent to keep engineering there and personally oversee that the power got turned back on. After it was, the engineering personnel were to be released. At least, that's what I've gathered from the LOOC ramblings where EvilBrage stood out.
-
What does this tell me? You were in the process of fixing the power, or had the intent to fix the power. Nowhere did I imply that the engine wasn't set up previously. That's why I used the word "fix". Because it was in a state of function. Then it wasn't in a state of function. Compared to if the round just started, it hasn't been in a state of function and is simply not set up. You're right. The singularity WAS set up. Not anymore. The arrest was decent. And in fact EvilBrage's idea was a very genius one that never beared fruit because of the LOOC spam completely halting him, quickly followed by getting stunned by a cultist officer I believe. Brage said what he wanted to do in LOOC as well, which I'm sure you will find in the logs. So on that bit alone, metagaming is definitely a no-no. And I would argue the incompetence claim as well. I really wish it came to light. Very simple but would have been a good motivator for certain. You can call out "Metagame!" and "Shitcurity!" all you want in the same manner that flashbanging a crowd has led to people crying "Grief!" at me, but cult activity was - objectively - on the sidelines here. I will maintain my statement about being on the team that failed to rectify the issue so repeating "I wasn't involved in the sabotage" doesn't really do anything. And as far as it seems to me - as I stated before - consciously. BUT! Let's assume you had no idea, which is a technical plausibility. Security thought you knew, and needed to control the situation. There was a violent outburst at technical storage, and they needed to sort it out in an isolated, controlled manner. As any good officer should. So instead of allowing any potential guilty to get away and flooding the hallways (which I personally hate), they said "Okay, this is what needs to happen. We need this situation controlled, and a resolution brought about. We need the power on the station in order." And that's where EvilBrage's little plan came in. Which I have to say, was a pretty good call on paper. Obviously that is not how it turned out, however the intent and idea was there. You take the entire cult out of the equation, and the result of the function (until the betrayal) stays the same. That's where it goes in a completely different direction which leads to a big issue in that round itself but that's for another thread. All in all, assuming you DIDN'T know, I would still have to disagree entirely.
-
You said you WERE going to. Heavy implication on prior knowledge here. A lot of the cultists were grabbing at any straw to be angry and be right in some way there. I disagree. Josh saw them ask as well. That's not true at all, after the permabrig incident I looked at the engine to find the baby singularity at stage one, and the particle accelerator was still off. In fact, it was dark in the bridge when a bunch of cultists were there after the armory raid. Unless someone consciously cut some wires or fucked with APC's around the station I'll have to say that that is clear misinformation or a blatant lie. You were on the team responsible for it. The principle is that if a member of your team fails and you do not correct it, you fail. Which you did. And from what I see, on a conscious decision. You don't have to believe me that I know that you were informed on the status of the engine. I don't have the logs, and therefore, no proof. Only my testimony. Admins however, have access to the logs.
-
Do you see the log where you told me in LOOC that you did plan on turning the engine back on? That means you, as a player, knew. And chances are, your character knew as well. I mean, you did plan on turning it back on... Right?
-
Maybe YOU do. The issue with that morgue compromise is that you're still locking doctors out of access to the body. Which was the issue at its core. I personally do not have an issue with Forensics having its own autopsy area. However with forensics being literally across the hall from the morgue I see absolutely no reason for them to have it anymore. Any issues that are had are OOC-related 'territorial' fallacies. CSI has every right to be in the morgue for an autopsy; and the people that like touching bodies are usually balds, griefers, chucklefucks, etc. which is another thing that will be a minimal issue with normal players. However as I see it, Security is all ate up and needs a remapping. A reshuffle at the very least. God damn.
-
I ghosted this round and observed. From what I've learned and observed, I haven't seen any cult meta pertaining to the crackdown. Antony got a two-minute time out. He got upset. Yelled on the radio about "having the WHOLE of engineering against you". Engine turned off. Been off for a while. Tried to get engineering to turn it back on. Engineering had every intent to turn on the engine... 'eventually'.Security decided that was bullshit, and decided to crack down on engineering for not doing their jobs. That is, to make sure the station is powered. Getting caught in cult activity at the same time was entirely coincidental. Very bad timing and/or planning on their part I know a few people have been saying that the crackdown happened before the whole engine/violence business... That I know for a fact, is wrong. Especially the engine business. Some ghosts, myself included, were talking about the engine being shut off before the crackdown. I fucked off somewhere else on the station looking for any cultists that might want a ghost summoned or brought to the tangible plane for any reason and happened to float back towards engineering to check on the engine (which was still off mind you) and I noticed security walking down the halls towards the engine room. Moral of the story, in my opinion? Don't piss off security if you plan on doing dark deeds. You're bound to get caught.
-
That isn't what I'm talking about. I got my point across.
-
Yeah, hi. Anna Lee, Warden here. You - among most if not all other engineer mains - love to look out for each other, Jamini. And that's not a bad thing. Engineering has, in my opinion, the most well-founded sense of camaraderie and inspiring esprit de corps than any other department I have ever seen on this server. Engineering looks out for each other through thick and thin at the core. Security, medical, science; hell, even command is more often than not less in tune with each other than the whole of engineering. However with that camaraderie comes the casualty of impartiality yourself. I feel that you - as most other engineers are - very biased for your own. Even when an engineer is blatantly wrong in their actions I have seen you fight for them through tooth and nail. I know your thoughts on Security. We've had a short discussion on how security operates in OOC and I know you are very against my set-in-stone standards, and very strict rules for escalation of force and escalation of punishment. In fact you told me I should fear my own code even though when put under scrutiny many times, has not faltered under the command's eye without special reason. With that: I refuse to believe you make that post without bias. The issue before wasn't that Emmy Gray failed to communicate, it was that she failed to punish an officer. However now that that's been cleared, the issue is NOW that she failed to communicate. It feels like cherry-picking. Not everything can be communicated so effectively when you've got seven people in your ear. As a long-time command player I myself have been guilty of failing to communicate. It's going to happen. I'm sure you yourself have been guilty of it yourself, along with any other command. Not to mention that Head of Security is one role in particular that tends to have their ears chewed off from all angles from anything as small as "He walked too close in the hall to me, that's attempted murder!" to anything as big as "HOLY FUCK WE'RE ALL GOING TO DIE ABANDON SHIP" all at once. With that, I want to reinforce that Emmy Gray did issue a charge to Nicce Arpei. I - Anna Lee, the Warden - executed her sentence. However, Anna Lee thought she wasn't wrong. So what she did was; she threw her in the cell, didn't search her, didn't strip her, didn't take her ID. She set the timer, said "I know you have your ID. You weren't wrong." and turned a blind eye; not to look at the cell until another inmate showed up. Anna got one side of the story. So the truth is, Emmy did show impartiality and ordered her punished on behalf of your relentless attacks against her. Did she fail to communicate it to you? Maybe, I have no idea. But I do know for a fact that every time I walked into the security lobby there were at least 4-5 other people surrounding Emmy, all seeming to be a part of some conversation with her included. With that, Emmy has proved in my opinion to be very impartial and in fact, Aqy has bitched at me specifically OOC about officers getting away with bullshit they should not be getting away with. I trust Aqy - with more command experience - to be a good head of security. Emmy herself also seems to not give a fuck about officers in particular; some of them OOC reasons, others IC reasons. Hell I think Emmy is a much more fitting candidate for command than quite a few other heads of security I've seen. Vote for me. I mean Aqy.
