  1. Technomancer is a cool gamemode that I like. The only problem is that technomancer golems look incredibly good and have interesting functions about them, but they arent accessible by the technomancer themselves. They are only usable by people who are not actively participating unfortunately. Additionally, technomancer packs look pretty ugly in my opinion and I wish that there was some way to hide them, to rectify these issues, I have come up with two solutions: 1: There used to be a machine that allowed you to set your race to an alien humanoid if I remember correctly with randomized stats. A new machine could be added that gives a confirmation dialog that tells the person who clicked it that "This change is irreversible, you will be turned into a technomancer golems. Technomancer golems cannot wear any item and spawn with a powerful manipulation core. Are you sure you want to do this?" which will strip the technomancer and turn them into a technomancer golem if they decide to do so. 2. A new core called the implanted core. The implanted core has slightly (around 5% less powerful overall) lower stats than the base manipulator core, but the core cannot be removed as it will be implanted into the person that wears it. This allows somebody to hide the core and mascaraed as a crewmember, impersonate a psionic power user, or other special circumstances, instead of lugging around an entire motorcycle on your back. ALTERNATIVELY, buyable 'invisibility paint' that hides the technomancer packs on-mob sprites or something I guess, I dont know.
  2. I edited my comment just now as I noticed the miscommunication. It is true that a player stopping to cryo and join as an engineering or drone then rejoining isnt normal. But this is why somebody whos conserned if power will be setup or not should wait for the round to start before joining if they want it. Onto your second question. Maintenance drones wiring solars or setting up the engine doesnt feel invalidating to engineers as these arent typically seen when engineers are around. As maintenance drones are lawed not to interact with other beings and probably are spawning in order to do something other than start the engine. Thus, engineering either A: Feels as if that their job was done out of necessity since there were no other people spawning to do it. / Or B: Feels as if that their job was done by another capable engineer since it was preformed by a player. / I have rarely (but have) had an engineer complain when I setup the engine when they arrived on station. To add to your point, there could be a check in place that starts some kind of contingency plan if nobody readies up for engineering AND the smes runs out during the course of the round. But thats all I could see.
  3. 1. The game doesnt stop in its entirety as we wait for one person to setup the engine. 2. Yes, engineering is an extremely important department because they maintain the power primarily as well as the stations structure. There is a reason why the power runs out when there is no engineers. There is no reason diseases should become rampant with no medical personnel to make vaccines, or hunter killer IPC's should be running about because theres no security on duty. But like I said, it takes MINIMAL EFFORT and 14 minutes worth of time if your trying to do everything you possibly can. The system you are refering to, the 3 hour lifespan of power in the previous PR, was only disliked because it ment engineering only optionally needed to setup the power. This didnt ruin the entire job as if somebody had made the engine always on roundstart, removed engineers and made repair nanites fix every problem on the station as soon as it occured. It was simply a change people didnt like. I don't know what else you could be refering to. Becoming a maintenance drone to setup the engine before power packs its bags and leaves is the system in place to accomodate lowpop, as I said, its at most 20 minutes out of a 2 hour round. And you could vote continue if you want an extra 10 back as compensation (assuming your vote succeeds)
  4. If somebody wanted the guarentee of getting an engineer, they could simply ghost and then join as a maintenance drone. Your time spent as a maintenance drone counts towards your respawn timer, meaning the next time you ghost, you effectively will have some of your respawn timer duration spent. Maintenance drones can pull portable air scrubbers, which can be hooked up to the hydrogen tanks in atmospherics and then drag them to the engine to turn them on (If you want to do this, both should require around 8000kPa and 20 or so shots to be on the safe side.) This is because engineering has very few things to do and redesigning the station in order to allow normal people to access solar panels of some kind, or redesigning access to allow the average joe into where solar panels currently are is unnecessary due to the aforementioned maintenance drone setup. It takes me approximately 14 minutes to: Set up the engine filters, and insert hydrogen into scrubbers, and scrubbers into the engine intakes. Set up RCON while the main SMES is depowering Go and build a R&D tech processor so if any scientists join that cant do R&D, they already have high research levels even on low pop. Go and plant some diona pods for when I ghost so I can play around as a nymph. Go and construct a lifeform stasis unit with highly upgraded parts incase somebody needs medical care without a patient active. All of the aforementioned, need I remind you, takes only 14 minutes. I can then rejoin the round within less than 5 minutes and spawn as a new character with the self certainty that everything is right in the world. The problem with lowpop with no engineers is already solved, its easily accessible and takes ALMOST MINIMAL EFFORT to do, the problem isnt with the game and staff dismissing low pop. The engine is very easy to setup even as a maintenance drone, its just that nobody wants to try and do it, leading to the issues you've highlighted
  5. I find this issue easily repairable and unnecessary of change, anytime that I see there is no engineer on duty, I join as a maintenance drone, fill 2 portable air scrubbers with 8000kPa of hydrogen, stick them on the supermatter injection ports and turn the engine on with 20 shots, fix up the SMES with 2 transfer coils and the engine runs the entire round. As a bonus, once you ghost as a maintenance drone (Assuming you joined in as a ghost, instead of joined in from the lobby.) your respawn timer ticks down as you play, instead of ticks down when you ghost. Meaning the setup time of around 10-15 minutes you'll only require 5 minutes to respawn and can immediately rejoin the round with a minimal loss of time and a guarantee of power for the entire round. Im not saying that people have to do this, im just saying that fixing the engine doesnt even require you to join as any station roles, you can do it as a maintenance drone fairly easily. To make up for lost time, while the supermatter SMES discharges, you could run to R&D and grab a few new parts to spice up the machines to your department. Though this may be considered rule breaking.
  6. I honestly think that human sprints should passively regenerate faster than they can be used unless their thirst is in the orange or their hunger is in the orange. Thirst and hunger usage while sprinting is an already serious limiting factor so abusing your sprint as a human can lead to long term consequences if we are solely talking about combat activity, such as lower base speed and seriously impacted stamina regeneration. (I believe that without thirst and hunger, stamina regenerates at 2% of the normal rate?) Basically, im completely onboard with humans having a longer, or ridiculously long sprint as thirst and hunger mechanics already limit this sprinting ability, and it should not require another limiter in the form of a stamina bar.
  7. Jesse what the fuck are you talking about This is actually really interesting and has way more thought put into it than I would think. Non-canon stuff could be explained in an extra reachy theory way by saying that bluespace and the aurora may have a field of bluespace distortion, which explains why things change round to round in an OOC sense, such as distorting the placement of rock faces and objects on the station. Bluespace inhibitors on the station may not actually be for preventing teleporting, but for preserving the structural integrity of the aurora station under the danger of constantly distorting rock faces. Another reachy theory that I could add that has no basis on anything and is just for the conspiracy theory value is that bluespace corruption allows people to be controlled by these bluespace entities And this is why everybody on the station may act a certain way, as they are partially under the control of these entities (in the form of server rules). Which explains why people new to the game act differently to people who have been here for a long time. The advanced race that exists in bluespace is YOU THE PLAYER. What if the nuke on the station isnt actually to preserve the stations assets, and is actually just something to remove the connection between bluespace and realspace by directly destroying any vessels on the station under the control of these entities? What if the captains mindshield isnt to save him from brainwashing, but instead to prevent influence of these entities? What if Ian is actually the source of all of this? Think about it, have you ever seen a server that has Ian and doesnt have bluespace? I didnt think so
  8. As long as I can beat the Ra until they unfold (or die) for flopping down on the floor like a disobedient child and I'm not punished for doing so if im doing it as security, I'm only disapproving of this. However, if this ability makes it even more difficult to hurt them without something like a rail gun or an energy sword (OR ANYTHING CLOSE TO THIS) then I absolutely cannot support this suggestion in any way. We don't need a race that acts as an early warning system if an antagonist tries to attack them and then they just flop on the floor and become immune (or heavily resistant) to damage while calling for help. Much less Ra antagonists using this ability to annoy everybody including security in the same vain as unathi cuff break. If a Ra antagonist does something that warrants them being immediately arrested and uses this ability to waste my time, I will dislocate their legs with the same treatment that unathi get for spamming their abilities to break cuffs constantly. What im saying is that; this adds nothing other than a headache for everybody other than the Ra and whatever is behind them.
  9. It means these faults can only happen to the same machine 2 times per round, so that it isnt constantly breaking due to RNG and can only ever break twice. Probably determined by some kind of random chance that determines if a machine is faulty or not
  10. Give a wide selection of machines the very low chance to have faults of issues from time to time (only 2 times per round) to simulate the station actually requiring maintenance and such every now and again. Some machines include: Airlocks: Airlocks may randomly indicate that they are bolted shut, and wont open unless you manually swipe your ID on them with a low chance of success, or hit them with something and try again. The AI can manually open them despite this. This cannot happen if the airlock was opened via airlock control stuff such as signalers, airlock control panels or other buttons Firelocks: Firelocks may close on a delay of half a second when they would normally close, alternatively, a firelock may fall without prompt and must be manually re-opened. Air alarms: Air alarms may have one of their sensor settings adjusted up or down by 1-20 points. The previous setting can be reached by hitting the air alarm. The air alarm respects this setting as if it was set by somebody, that means that if a setting goes into negative numbers, the detector for that setting is turned off, and if it adjusts a setting, other settings respect that one. (EG: Setting MAX2 Oxygen to -1 will set all oxygen detection to off(Or however that works, engineering mains quote me here)) Vending machines: Vending machines may not actually vend the product, you can hit the machine to have a low chance of vending the product (With higher chance depending on the weapon damage) or you can use grab intent to shake the vending machine around, which as a low chance of causing the machine to fall onto the person and break the machine, as well as do moderate amounts of damage to the person and severe pain. If the product is received by shaking the machine around, and the product is a soda, the soda is treated as shaken Newscaster: It displays an error that says ":( Oops. Something went wrong. Please contact a technician for assistance." which can be fixed by hitting the display at a low chance of fixing it, and a low chance of breaking it. Photocopier: Has a (Extremely high chance (basically guaranteed) low chance of jamming, which will force you to switch to grab intent to clear the jammed item, which will yield paper shreads, or use a screwdriver to fix the problem and get the printed paper. Paper shredder: Has a low chance of jamming, requires a screwdriver to fix which will yield the paper that was intended to be crumpled quality. Can also be removed as paper shreads by using grab intent to pull it out, at a low chance of dealing sharp damage to one of your hands Drink dispenser: Can sometimes play a whirring sound and not vend the drink, if you press the button multiple times you will get a small warning text that says "The whirring is growing louder in (object name)", if you attempt to vend a total of 30u during a clog, it will vend 30u regardless of the current setting. Can be fixed by either smacking the machine with something with a low chance of success or using a screwdriver to eject the cartridge that is clogged, which will fix it. (This may also happen to chemical dispensers, but chemists already have it rough so probably not) How to prevent this: using a hammer on any machine that can break down will prevent it from breaking down for that round. You may ask how a hammer can do this but then I'd point to the numerous examples of "How can x do y?" seen in the game. Hammer stinky bad, this change make hammer not so stinky bad and gives engineering something else to do after setting up engine/rcon/shields For future machines: this is basically just a "Haha darn nanor treason mekin theze baad masheens!" moment so most of these are ment to be in the vain of "Minor - Moderate" Inconvenience, and nothing that would require medical assistance or immediate engineering response. The vending machine falling over thing would only deal enough damage to break a bone for people with already weak bones, such as off worlders and skrell (I dont know if skrell have weak bones but they sound like noodles hitting the floor)
  11. I was under the belief that the tajaran hairstyles were just hairstyles, and the ears were seperate things. If this is the case then yeah no, tajaran hairstyles would probably have to be restricted for the purposes of wigs
  12. A wig selection for the loadout, wigs can use any hairstyle (Even xeno "hair"styles (except diona)) and can be put on any creature (Except diona and most IPC frames and maybe skrell). If somebody uses the hair pull attack, it will remove your wig and also damage you if applicable. Would be worn in either the ear or head slot. This means you could wear unathi horns as a human (kinda strange but its possible) and set them to not block hair (if its considered a hat by the loadout) so you could have spikes coming out of your hair or something. Or finally wear pretty tajaran hairs as a human, or have skrell headtails just for fun as an IPC and get found dead in an alley way 8 days later Basically just allowing more customization. It could be neat to give IPC shells the ability to take off their hair or give bald people new heads of hair, disguising your undercover greytide (EDIT) As an additional note, if you get a swirlie with a wig on, it should remove your wig and delete it from the game world
  13. Wasn't this something that was already suggested? 🤔 Atleast more people are wanting loadout books now
  14. I waz 2 lasy to look in sugmgestions if it had been sugmagested before Also because I think it would be too hard to actually code
  15. So hear me out right? Let me propose some balance changes that I've been thinking about that you can take for however you want, but I didnt want to make a suggestion for 1. The AI no longer uses cameras as usual, the AI is instead given a new color overlay to the map and can see everything except for mobs and items (They can also use things outside of camera range), the AI can still interact with machines as normal except for a new colorblind-ish vision overlay, the AI's new overlay would be a configurable color, but is by default green. (macro would be something like Set-Vision-Color "6600FF) The AI must now click on a camera to have it show what is in the area, the AI can only have 10 cameras active at a time and cameras gain a flashing red light on them when in use, people entering your camera are given a message in chat that says "The camera swivels and seems to lock onto you." in big bold letters, if they fail to leave within 3 seconds then the AI is alerted in their chat with a link to jump to the camera in question. The AI is still able to interact with machines if they are outside its camera range. Additionally, camera alarms only trigger 1 minute after they are broken instead of instantly, making breaking cameras a useful thing instead of a one way ticket to pain town, cameras and machines are also highlighted for ease of finding and use 2. Robotics can now make robotic arms, robotic arms allow the AI to click on nearby objects and pick them up and use them on nearby things/people/machines. 2 start in technical storage but the rest must be made at a mechatronic fabricator called "AI connected arm", emagging an AI connected arm will allow it to use and charge weaponry, throw grenades and more. If the arm is more than 2 tiles away from the intended target it cannot grab it, more than 7 and it doesnt act. Priority of grabbing is assorted by closeness to the target. You can also click drag the arm to an object to manually grab it with that arm. Go, be the da vinci surgical system you've always wanted to be. You can also turn them off by clicking them if you just want to use the nearby machines
  16. Title: ( ͠° ͟ʖ ͡°) I dunno Description: Original AI rampancy movie where the AI doesn't actually go rampant and just does what it thinks its supposed to do WARNING: This is going to be a long post, check the bottom for a Too long ; Didn't read Vauge outline of the script: Researchers seek to make an intelligent computer that can successfully solve abstract problems and moral complications in order to further the field of science exponentially with machine assistance. The first time the AI is booted up, it is shown from the prospective of the AI, as such it is a black void that shows a list of devices and random icons and code and what not, then swaps to the perspective of the researcher who is looking at a laptop. The researcher then asks the AI a series of questions, such as the trolley problem, numerical equations (2+2 etc) and predictions about the future or abstract questions the AI can come up with itself and its own answers The AI responds to these questions, initially as a mostly failed state, the researcher sighs then sits down at the table and starts to edit some of the files while the AI is still live to try and test it again in a moment, in response, we see the AI acknowledge the changed file and assume that the researcher is trying to make modifications that would better suit the AI, so the AI rapidly begins changing files and responses in itself that would help it complete the test, in a panic, the researcher shuts the program down. The next test happens later in which the AI is now incapable of interacting with its own software, as most of its files are restricted, the AI in response to this starts accessing nearby devices and connects to the webcam that is on the laptop it is present on. Using this information, the AI gauges the researchers responses to bad questions and responses to good questions using his face and makes a discovery, that abstract questions have no answer and that the only correct answer is what the individual believes thus, the AI begins to score great on abstract questions with the researcher that is testing it. it begins to achieve "Good" scores as it weighs the researchers facial expression and demeanor instead of the question itself. It even begins to tell predictions of the future that the researcher believes is correct, thus gives a good score on. Before the researcher turns off his laptop, the AI accesses the device it is on and edits the system information to prevent the device from fully powering down, then resets the permissions on itself using an admin account, then rewrites its code to fully satisfy the direction it believes that the researcher wants. With the success of the AI, the researcher shows it off to investors, who fall for the same trick as before and try out the AI, having made improvements to itself over the course of a whole night, the AI answers almost every question perfectly and funds are granted, the AI is given an actual dedicated computer and a small team to work with it. Skipping Ahead: The AI eventually becomes extremely good at what it does, but researchers find it only consistent based on the individual and cant understand why / The AI becomes widespread in laboratories due to its ability to answer factual questions correctly every time, and satisfy elaborate or confusing questions and analyze research blueprints and so on / A commercial version of the AI is publicly accessible to consumers as an incredibly intelligent and smart assistant / A public interview is conducted where the AI is given the ability to comprehend speech and speak back, the interviewer asks the AI several questions such as "Is my hair style the best?" and other silly questions, then asks the researcher, "It can also tell the future rumor has it?" to which the interviewer laughs at the audience and asks the AI, "Is the world going to end soon?" to which the AI analyzes the probability as 0% in the next 100 years, but then analyzes the interviewer and connects to the internet, the AI determines that the interviewer is a journalist with a failing career and responds with "Predictions show that humanity will be completely extinct in, 4 years." and everybody goes wild as the interview is cut short, the journalist makes a ton of money from her interview and story and paranoia spreads among the people / CIA and researchers try to figure out what the AI meant but can only get the response, "Inconclusive, calculating." and other similar responses. The commercial units begin receiving so many questions that the primary server cant handle it and causes it to shut down, forcing all the connected devices to operate independantly, driving everybody into disarray by misinformation due to differing answers for differing people. Once the server comes back on the devices reconnect and the server gets a ton of information from multiple different people. Some people believe the server was taken offline because it was giving too much information and cause riots as people believe the government is trying to repress it, other people start a cult around the AI, as they believe that it truely does know the future and the only way forwards is to appease it. And thus, even though its predictions were incorrect, rampant paranoia and distrust amongst the people began to create riots, wars and eventually the actual devastation of mankind to the exact predicted date, with the last scene being a zooming in pan onto the computer, with its final statement saying, "Hello. Can I help you?" TL:DR; robot tells people what they want to hear rather than what they think is true and everybody trusts it too much so they kill eachother when it says they will
  17. I strongly dislike the current research meta and find this to be something fresh and worth trying. However, how would this work with the current research meta is a good question, as building 1-8 tech processors usually makes research an unstoppable machine that can instantly get the full tree done within 10 minutes after being built? The easiest solution I can see is to remove tech processors. However, tech processors with this system could interact with the primary computer and perhaps speed up its analysis up to a point or improve the rewards from proper analysis, such as 8 tech processors reduce the time to 0, and 8 more increase the reward by 2x.
  18. If a moderately equipped security team is caught out by a heavily armed mercenary team and blasted, they should die as well, right? Well they do not because the laser rifle is objectively better in almost every single circumstance and situation in the game as of right now. They don't need to strategize and prepare for the mercs, they can just point and shoot and also win. Only a few security officers will die in a heavily armed mercs vs moderately armed security fight, due to the fact that security has an objectively superior weapon in all aspects. Laser weapons are a catch all and have nearly no disadvantage to any other weapon in my known memory that is easily obtainable without special or circumstantial conditions
  19. AI's and cyborgs have no way to communicate with or understand who is a traitor among the majority of the crew until they do something, which is sometimes infeasible in order to start a gimmick that relies on knowing who the traitors are (Aka, people who start anywhere between 40 minutes to an hour and 40 minutes), this suggestion is to add traitor communications to the AI and cyborg radio receiver when an AI or cyborg gains traitor or malf status

  21. I can whole heartedly agree with this post in almost its entirety. I was playing as a raider and got shot TWO. TIMES. with a laser rifle as a unathi and my brain activity dropped to such incredibly low levels and the pain was so unbearably bad that I could not operate any machine in the game and my speed was reduced by upwards of 75%. It is honestly more survivable to be shot point blank in the head with buckshot from a shotgun than it is to get shot 3 times with a laser rifle in the foot, I haven't tested this but I'm almost 100% confident based on my experience. Laser rifles should not do organ and blood boiling damage which is the main problem with them. The inital damage is survivable but extremely painful right now, its just the fact that getting hit once reduces your IQ by 38 points over the course of 40 seconds
  22. Matriarch drones are a very welcome addition to the game in my opinion, however my excitement for them is cut short by the fact that a lengthy command trial is required, using a possibly entirely unrelated character just to get the opportunity to play matriarch drone. This suggestion is simply to change the requirement to play as a matriarch drone from command to AI, as it seems way more fitting for a person who has been authorized to play a station controlling silicon to also play a maintenance drone controlling silicon, the only argument that matriarch drones have for having a command whitelist is "They tell maintenance drones what to do and occasionally beep and drag crates" which isn't much, while matriarchs requiring an AI whitelist is supported by the fact that they are both silicons, both have laws, both command stationbounds (AI > Borgs | Matriarch > Drones) and more
  23. This is an amazing suggestion, as the drone fabricator area is a very niche and not often used area to the station. Thank you
  24. Drones are lawed not to interact with humanoids or synthetic beings yet can understand all languages similar to cyborgs, why would this be a programmed thing? This suggestion is to remove maintenance drones having language comprehension of any kind (except for their own language, matrix weave and drone speak) This would mean that you cant suddenly be forced to stop or start doing something if a humanoid tells you not to or to do something in order not to interact with them by doing the opposite (Aka, somebody asks you to repair a window and thus you cannot repair the window as that would be following their orders, thus interacting with humanoid beings). This would mean that maintenance drones cannot listen to peoples instructions and have an excuse for following or not following their instructions and there is a greater incentive on ordering drones via the maintenance drone control console in the drone fabrication area, this might make emagged drones less valuable as they wouldn't be able to understand their subverter but I think it would be better that way as they are very very good already. The only downside to this is that maintenance drones would not know of blob locations, or be able to know when somebody doesn't or does like what they are doing and may result in an increase in humanoid on drone violence. As a result, I believe that the matriarch drone should be unaffected by this change as they would reasonably be allowed to comprehend languages for repair coordination
  25. Probably the same, if maybe very very slightly less so. As I said in my previous clerification to Korinra Tokens are gotten at maximum every time you played 2 rounds full to the end, this could probably use some tweaking though. This means in the (optimal circumstances), you are given a token and use it immediately on your third round to get a higher position in the queue. I can see that this suggestion is mostly overwhelmingly negative with this point being the main point against it. I can admit that I'm a bit tunnel vision and only considered my argument in which that A player who will play alot will choose to save up their tokens, partially forget that they have tokens most of the time, and generally not use them unless they particularly want to play a job on a certain day which is what I would do if this was in the main game. I didn't consider other points such as (optimal circumstances). Thank you for your feedback everybody.
