  1. BYOND Key: SierraKomodo Character Names: Sairis Helosi, Ariana Eshlian, KATANA How long have you been playing on Aurora: About a month Species you are applying to play: Tajaran What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Sandy colored (RGB 131,111,65) - Eyes: Dark brown (71,35,23) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've been looking to start playing a non-human race on Aurora for a bit now, and there's already a community of characters on the station that are Tajaran. Despite people saying there's too many catfolk already, it seems like a good place to start with non human races since I can take cues from other players on certain mannerisms of the race (It takes me a bit to get comfortable with new things such as a race someone else put together). Also, I've been invited to play as another character's cousin, which sounds like it would be fun to do. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The Tajaran have a slightly different way of speaking - Typically, referring to themselves in the third person and rolling their Rs (I.e., instead of 'I am grateful', Ziva would say 'She is grrrateful') and due to their warm fur, they prefer light clothing (Which explains the common sight of shirtless tajarans). And yes, I am aware they are not Khajiit. Why does this species in particular hold your interest? This seems like a similar question to the one above buut.. There's already a lot of developed stuff about the Tajarans from what I can tell, based on what I see from the tajaran characters on station. That makes this a good starting point for playing non-human races on aurora, I think. Character Name: Ziva Mo'Taki Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs She was raised in an industrialized trading city, near the city's harbor, and right next door to her cousin Karima Mo'Taki, whom is barely a year older than her. Her parents both worked at the harbor - Her mother with the cargo crew, her father taking care of repairs for a price. She worked with her parents, learning both fields of work as she grew up, and found she had a liking for building, tinkering, and fixing things, and was quick to accept the official job offer to work with her father when she came of age, and spent the next few years working on repairing various transport vessels that had come in for dock. It was only very recently - About a year and a half ago - That she decided to join NanoTrasen and work aboard stations as an engineer and maintenance technician, making sure everything stayed fixed and functional. It was during this past year, while working away from home, that she discovered and extreme dislike for more crewmembers, due to what she perceived as their inherent ability of breaking things and not following any form of safety protocols - Such as opening firelocks when she's trying to repair a hull breach, and nearly getting themselves killed. She's picked up a reputation on certain stations as a result, and in some cases has made crew members less likely to muck things up. In others? They seem to just want to taunt her. At least, that's how she feels. She was recently transferred to the Aurora, being told that the station, focused on research with a relatively smaller crew, might be less likely to make her blow a gasket. What do you like about this character?: There'd be a bit of a love-hate relationship with this character, actually. On the one hand, she's very dedicated to her work in building and fixing things, and enjoys the work so much she would probably work for free. On the other hand, she has this idea in her mind that everyone around her are idiots - Especially the people that keep breaking things that she has to fix repeatedly, or that open firelocks. And she's not afraid to voice that opinion if someone mucks something up. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I'm certainly not the best, particularly since I just recently got back into writing/roleplaying, so I'm a bit 'rusty' as you might say. I'm sure the players that have seen KATANA, Sairis, and Ariana can give you a better idea. It's hard to judge yourself and all.
  2. Very interesting interpretation of a law: Robotic Talk, E.C.L.I.P.S.E. (AI) states, "Cloning APC has been disabled in accordance with new lawset: Crew are expensive to replace."
  3. OOC: Josh1133: Is the server still under attack? OOC: Conspire2Ignite: Yes OOC: SierraKomodo: Shhh. If we dont acknowledge it, it doesnt happen OOC: KiwiDaNinja: ^ OOC: Conspire2Ignite: ^ It literally died again about 30 seconds after that. You jinxed us, man :<
  4. So a pAI whose owner is dead/deepcryo/otherwise incapacitated without any supplemental directives or instructions would essentially behave as a lawless AI unless the player has a default lawset of some kind in mind for it, as there is no longer a master to serve then?

  6. Regarding a pAI personality.. I understand they are given more freedom in interpreting their directives/'laws' (As the case is for pKATANA's programming), and can be designed to have more of a personality than other synthetic/AI systems. My question here is.. How much freedom does a pAI have in interpretation? In its personality? If a pAI's owner dies, is put into cryo, or is otherwise indisposed for an indeterminate amount of time, can that pAI still function under a 'default lawset' so to speak, or under directives/instructions it was given prior to its owner becoming unavailable? If the pAI is never actually bound to someone, only activate, does it still have to consider that person its master? These are things I've already gone into answering with pKATANA's 'programming', but I'm curious as to how much freedom a pAI would have without the extent the KATANA program has gone for their little experiment.
  7. Fun fact; With Mutiny, the side that wins the objectives is deemed 'In The Right', as per end-round text. If mutineers win, then the directives were false, if loyalists win, then the directives were true. I think it should be randomized whether or not the directives were true, not counting on who wins. Adds a little more variety to things, imo.

    The List

Sairis Helosi - Ex-military quartermaster/cargo technician. Slow to trust others. Believes she can run the entire cargo department herself better than any teams she's had on other stations. Ariana Eshlian - Recent security academy graduate. Tries to be everyone's friend, and goes for the 'nice and friendly' approach for enforcing Space Law.
