Having a subverted robot from the start, and having a syndicate borg from tg/baystation are entirely different. I'd be fine with a subverted borg being something you can buy

Comfortable doing a Tajarran?

What do you like about this game mode? Be honest, don't just say 'nothing' or 'everything': While everyone's distracted with the crap the other nukeops are pulling... I can actually sneak in, steal shit, and get out without much problem. What do you dislike about this game mode? Don't just say 'everything' or 'nothing': Bombs. Always bombing everything. I've wanted to see a stealth infiltration for so long, and it never happens. Kidnapping from the same pool of 2-3 people Security deciding rambo/ignoring hostage situations is the best route. Every single time. There's no RP here, just 'Red hardsuit SHOOT HER WHILE SHES TYPING!'. This right here has made me give up on any kind of IC interaction, and just bugger off the second I see security without even waiting to see if they shoot first or say something. Being completely ignored when trying to suggest something outside of the usual 'Take a hostage/blow shit up' route. Do you think the things you like about this game mode are conducive and healthy to the general flow of roleplay?: Not really. Sneaking in and stealing things without being noticed because everyone's freaking out over the armory/engineering being explodified doesn't give me any chance to actually interact with other players, or anyone a chance to interact with me. Do you think that reinforcing the things you like about this game mode would help make it better for everyone else's RP experience?: No. The problems I listed above need to be addressed, and that's more of a player mindset issue than anything game mechanics can fix. Are the things you dislike about this game mode highly destructive to the flow of RP?: Very. When we get to a point where nuke ops just blow things up, and security just fires without a word on people that are obviously sitting still because they're bloody typing.. There's no RP. It's just gankstation 13. Do other people on this server share that sentiment? If so, how many that you know of do?: I've seen and heard people saying similar things about nuclear rounds (I know a few people that just absolutely refuse to play during nuke rounds) How do you think we could 'fix' the issues that, in your opinion, make the game mode bad?: We need some way to address the player's mindsets for this round. Security needs to stop forgoing RP for just shooting at the nukies, and nuke ops need to actually provide some interaction at the least instead of just suddenly setting off bombs, and not saying a word to the crew. (I think the nuke ops could learn a few things from how Stein and Sylvia handled themselves awhile back)

~ Crescentise's Kitty App nyan ~
SierraKomodo replied to Crescentise's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I rarely seem to be around when Crescentise is, but I like this backstory. +1 -
Having seen syndie borgs in action on other servers (Particularly looking at one that also says RP on it)... That becomes a gank fest of fighting a robot that doesn't need atmos and can fire lethals, typically resulting in dead sec officers and a borg still running around.

There was something mentioned on the site about an 'Anti Sue' which is also bad.

Why did Tajarans stop being 'scumb'?
SierraKomodo replied to mrimatool's topic in Answered Questions
Sol Common exists. Sai uses it on occasion. I didn't know the heat issue for Tajarran's was actually coded in game, so I'd always just RP'd that they hated things that made them too warm - Such as wearing her jumpsuit zipped up, sitting in a hardsuit for extended periods, being in a heated room, etc (Rasine being a little more tolerant to hardsuits because of how long she's been doing EVA mining). Aggression wise, for Ziva and Rasine, it doesn't really have anything to do with species (Except when people start being species-ist [Racist is so much easier to say, always figured it was just used as an easier term for what it really was in this time period], then Rasine will bring out the claws, or Ziva will start getting annoyed.). For Ziva, it's mostly just dealing with the constant stress of people breaking everything during certain shifts, and then opening firelocks and getting themselves vented. Rasine's just an asshole, Tajarran or not. And then there's Miraj, who's only threat to anyone on station is hugging them to death. I try to play along with the lore as best I can - Rasine's in probably the most stereotypically manual labor-oriented job there is, and she loves it. Ziva's also in a more manual-oriented job, as engineering and focusing on station repairs (She knows shite about electronics and atmos, only enough to help her focus on getting areas repaired and repressurized, and getting to those areas). I've played out that both get their pay docked for relatively stupid reasons, that a human probably wouldn't have to worry about. I know Karima plays things similarly, though that Tajarran is definitely brighter than Ziva is when it comes to technology. A couple other Tajarran I think play the race well: Nasir Ha'kim (Aggressive at times, yes, but that's just who he is.) Jar'eeka ForgotHisLastName (I love this character, btw.) So not all of us fit the descriptions being made here -
We Should Have a Talk of the Current State of Aurora
SierraKomodo replied to Hartburry's topic in General
On the side of communication, having been playing CE recently, I can say that command staff even seem to have some trouble communicating with eachother. I've had a couple rounds with three other heads, where the command channel was completely quiet, even when Helosi attempted to get someone to tell her something (All three of them were active, I'd seen them running around throughout the round). Makes it a bit hard for Sairis to tell her team things if she doesn't know them herself. -
Ziva is panicking because Nasir is ignoring his injuries... Again.

Out of curiousity, feel like putting up any records/flavor text you came up with for the character and have on the server?

Jamini Head of Staff Application

Have an imgur instead: http://imgur.com/IOdCCOy -
It's much more open looking, although the small office and surgical areas could maybe use a little more room to let two people comfortably move through them. (I don't play roboticist much, but I've sat around with Karima and others enough to get an idea of how things flow)

I'm all for it. I don't play in medical, but I know the frustration of not being able to get in somewhere I'm needed quickly (Although as I'm usually an engineer... Doors cannot stop me. Medical doesn't have that power, though.) Another server I played on has an EMT, and they even have an ambulance train (Similar to Aurora's cargo train) that can be seen zipping around during red alert, ferrying injured people to medbay while the doctors do the work of fixing up the internal damage from that vented firelock some clown decided to open.

Paradise has the AI core on a sub satellite connected to the station on the same z-layer. It tends to hit really easily by meteors and nukeops, though. When Paradise is back up, I'll get some screenshots

SierrAKomodo's Head Whitelist Application
SierraKomodo replied to SierraKomodo's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
That was on one occasion! Literally once, and she didn't plan on actually doing it. Nasir's actually attacked people and he's a chief engineer (I also might have forgotten that was Sairis I was playing, not Ziva at the time) -
BYOND key: SierraKomodo Character names: Sairis Helosi, Ariana Eshlian, Ziva Mo'Taki, Kylan Lo'Rah, Katana Alpha/Bravo/Charlie/Delta, Rasine Ha'kim How long have you been playing on Aurora?: A month and a half Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I feel it's just a natural progression of one of my charater's careers with NanoTrasen, to become a Chief Engineer Why did you come to Aurora?: I heard things about this server being very good for roleplaying from a friend. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: Roleplay is essentially creating stories of some form or another, with multiple people taking part in the creation/writing of these stories. In some cases, a player's contribution is just as a single character within the world. In other cases, the contribution is as multiple characters, or as some form of 'game master' who controls the entire world around the characters. Roleplay is about making these stories fun and interesting for everyone involved, whether they're an antagonist, protagonist, or someone that's just there. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: The OOC purpose of a head of staff is to make sure the players are doing their jobs/roles correctly, and that things are setup properly to ensure the round is fun for everyone. For example, the Chief Engineer should be making sure the station will have power, the singularity doesn't escape, and atmos is functioning properly. Failing at any of these three (Barring antag actions) can prematurely end/ruin the round for everyone. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: A whitelisted head of staff should serve as an example of how to properly play a role/character aboard the station. That doesn't mean your character has to be a prim, proper, by the books stick in the mud, but the character should be competent and know what they're doing, whether they're an asshole to their subordinates or give out hugs to everyone on a routine basis. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Sairis Helosi Character age: 34 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Sairis was born on June 19, 2422, aboard a military station in the Sol system. She grew up with a pilot as a father, and a station engineer as a mother. Upon turnign 18 and completing her basic education, she began work aboard the station as a civilian janitor, sometimes working with her mother and picking up on various engineering tricks that helped with her janitorial duties. At the age of 23, in the year 2445, Sairis made a decision to move on from civilian duties, and officially enlist with the Navy. She spent three months in basic training, then an additional four years with the Naval Academy, studying mechanical engineering. She graduated from the Academy in the year 2450, at the age of 28, and began her Naval career as a shuttle engineer, working with pilot Mathias Arcole. Three years of work aboard the shuttlecrafts, always working with the same pilot, the two had become close friends, then more, and had become engaged in 2453. A month later, however, their shuttle crash-landed during a NanoTrasen funded transport operation, and Mathias was killed in the resulting impact, unable to be cloned. Sairis was also severely wounded in the crash, and was medically discharged from the Navy following an extensive operation and recovery period. Approximately half a month following the crash, she was approached by a NanoTrasen representative with a job offer as a station engineer. She accepted the offer, but also requested janitorial or cargo duty be added to her roster. The contract was signed on August 15, 2453. A week later, she was assigned to the NCS Cyberiad as a cargo technician and station engineer, based on which positions were required for the shift. After two years of work aboard the station, she received a promotion to Quartermaster, and was placed in charge of the cargo division for many shifts in the next two years. As 2457 rolled around, a routine psych eval required for all personnel revealed high levels of stress due to events aboard the Cyberiad, and she was immediately transferred to the Aurora - A calmer, research based station - In the hopes of avoiding a mental breakdown. A month and a half later, Sairis is working aboard the Aurora as a Station Engineer and Quartermaster, and has put in a request for promotion to Chief of the Engineering department. What do you like about this character?: Sairis was my first character I ever started playing on Space Station 13, and is a direct clone of an original character I came up with many, many years ago for some science fiction story plotting stuff I did. She's hard working, loyal to those she considers friends, and despite her occasional attitude and sometimes unfriendly demeanor, she means well and does what she can to help others - Although sometimes someone pushes her too far and gets smacked. What do you dislike about this character?: I do sometimes feel like she gets a bit bland; There could probably be some more work put into her personality and such, but that kind of thing only really develops as I play the character. Ziva's still my favorite character on the Aurora, but I do like Sairis. Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff?: Yes. Why?: I think she's come a long way from being the QuarterBitch on another server, to a quartermaster/engineer on the Aurora that is much less aggressive, knows more about the engineering job, and actually cares about the safety of her fellow crew. She does have experience with 'heading' a department as a cargo quartermaster, even if 90% of the time she doesn't have any cargo technicians and has to do those tasks herself. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I keep having to answer this question! It's certainly seeming to be better than where I thought it was when I posted that Tajarran app a while back. People love (and hate, oddly enough. I thought Ziva was adorable to everyone!) Ziva and Katana, and I don't think I've ever had a complaint about my roleplaying ability as a character or an antag. Extra notes: Someone wanted me to make Ziva a chief engineer. Can you imagine that? Chief Engineer Ziva? That would end horribly.

I'm not a mod, but out of curiousity, what other servers do you play as and as what characters? (In the off chance I know you from another server, I might be able to verify you're not a griefer/etc)

((OOCly, i'm fully aware and don't have any problems with you or Uaekis . This was posted up from an IC standpoint, all she knows is the airlock was forced open, she get knocked off her feet by the air rush, and she thought he'd just vented the room. If i'm misunderstanding how these incident reports work in that regard, i'm sorry.
