  1. Hold on, not enough RP to justify killing it? It literally tried (and I'm fairly certain succeeded) to murder crewmembers, in a room that I was in just a few seconds ago, with an explosion. It was literally trying to kill people. How is that not justification to attempt to take it down? And in the way I did? Was I expected to run guns blazing into the core as an engineer, or am I not supposed to try and solve the issue the way an engineer would?
  2. I made the effort to make it clear to their player what I was attempting to do and to give them a chance to stop me before I got myself into a position where they couldn't. As for speaking directly to the AI, I kind of figured that was a wasted effort, as from my perspective the AI had pretty much not communicated with the crew at all outside of a few sentences and then trying to blow people up.
  3. I had fixed a bluescreened APC earlier in the round, yes. And I checked the engineering cyborg's camera by complete chance, because the cyborg had been asking me for orders previously and had been communicating, so when they'd been quiet for a bit, I decided to check the camera just to see what they were getting up to, and saw them deconstructing the monitor, by chance. The reason I went to check it out after they gave the faulty monitor excuse was because the borg immediately left the office when I started asking questions, leaving the console half-deconstructed. As for why I had access to the borg cameras, I upgraded the monitoring circuit in the Engineering foyer to show a wider scope of the station. This is something that I and other Station Engineers and Chief Engineers do as a standard part of setup, including on extended rounds, because it makes life easier for us to monitor things like the state of the shields on the surface, and to locate blobs when they pop up.
  4. BYOND Key: Leudoberct Staff BYOND Key: Tbear13 Game ID: b32-dCyJ Reason for complaint: During a round in which the AI was malfunctioning, I happened to view my engineering cyborg tampering with the robotics control console without having said a word to me or anyone else. I questioned it, and it and the AI responded that there was a "faulty monitor". I checked the camera of the other cyborg, and saw that it was barricading the AI core, again, without saying anything. I questioned it, but received no response. So, I went to check out the RD's office for myself, and found that they'd even replaced the circuit board with a power monitoring one. We'd already had multiple APCs appearing with blue screens (though my character treated this as a software fault), and I noticed that the APC in the office was bluescreened. I notified the Head of Security that I had suspicions about the AI and its cyborgs, and began attempting to debug the APC. The AI triggered a gravity failure every time to prevent me, at which point my suspicions were roused even further. I tried to get the RD to produce a new cyborg monitoring circuitboard, and the AI attempted to stop us, shutting down the equipment in R&D and Robotics, trying to prevent us from fixing the console. At this point I believed my suspicions confirmed, and fixed the APC and cut the AI access to it, allowing us to produce the circuit board. The research personnel then went on to either lockdown or blow the borgs, I'm not sure which, depriving the AI of its borgs. Please keep in mind that the only thing that I had heard from the AI at all for the shift so far was about the "monitor issue." After that it gave a two word announcement of "Deepest condolences" and then detonated something in the science lab, which I believe resulted in the fatality of a crewmember. At this point security was well aware of the issue with the AI, and I told them that we would likely have to get into the core, but received no response. At that point I decided that I would try to deal with the AI without storming the core. I had assistance from a security cadet, who brought an emitter down to the medical sublevel with me. I also spoke with Fernando Gonzales on the matter, and he seemed to give his consent on my plan. I spoke of my intentions multiple times that I was planning to use an emitter to destroy the AI from afar, giving the AI plenty of chances to catch on to what I was trying to do and to give it a chance to stop me. The AI did not so much as attempt to stop me, or even communicate me. It had barely communicated with anyone at all for the shift, instead seeming to be all but silent. Even as I was working on making my way towards the AI with the emitter through the walls, having to adjust my aim multiple times to get to it, I made statements in the common channel about how I was "dealing with the AI", making it very clear to the AI that I was coming for it, and it still made no effort to stop me or say anything. Eventually, I took the AI out with the emitter, and later received a PM from Tbear13 about why I used the emitter. I stated why I used it and said that I had made multiple references to my intent to give the AI a chance to react, but he instead claimed that I had essentially "ganked" the AI and not given it "any warning or escalation", despite having made it clear to the AI multiple times by talking to others through radio channels of what I was intending to do. The AI hadn't spoken or RPed with anyone properly during the round, instead being pretty silent and then ramping it straight up to trying to kill crewmembers with explosions, but I still made it clear to the AI that I was coming. Tbear13 continued to insist that I gave the AI no proper warning or chance to RP, and added a warning to my account, which I heavily dispute, as I believe that I gave the AI plenty of chances to react or to RP- the player of the AI seemingly chose to ignore these chances, as it did most chances to RP that round. I would like this warning to be removed. Evidence/logs/etc: Bunch of screenshots from the round: Me telling security that we would probably have to breach the core - https://gyazo.com/a09e5fec6be90643a1578b5ad11ddcbb Me announcing my intent to a colleague in the engineering radio to have an emitter brought to the medical sublevel - https://gyazo.com/620f887aaa5036990832e9efbe8f9978 Me telling my colleague to bring the emitter to the AI core - https://gyazo.com/391628ecb0224bc2dd2c110f9842374d My conversation with Gonzales - https://gyazo.com/e771d2fc6e606947f9410aba5934ef6a Making reference to the fact that I was working on reaching the AI in the common channel - https://gyazo.com/31d78e206d41109d64b1bfcedd90a6aa Outright saying that I was close to dealing with the AI - https://gyazo.com/3eca5270059bbfe2976af36fa4f1d262 Additional remarks: I get that it may be frustrating for the AI that they didn't have their cyborgs to deal with me physically, or that they couldn't really defend themselves against the emitter once I'd gotten it set up, but I feel like they still had multiple chances to attempt to stop me, such as bolting the doors on my way there, or bolting the doors to where emitters are stored, or even just trying to TALK to me, rather than just remain completely silent, like they had for 99% of the round. I gave them plenty of chances to cotton on to what I was doing and make attempts to stop me, but none were made. I only went to the point of trying to kill the AI in the first place when they decided to escalate to the point of attempting to murder multiple crewmembers in an explosion.
  5. I would like to withdraw this complaint.
  6. I was told that this was supposed to be a staff complaint- if that is not the case, then please move this to the player complaint section. My point is not about the gloves or his opening fire on us- I was giving a recount of the round. My point is that Garnascus seems to constantly play half-baked no detail characters, with randomised names, bald haircuts, no flavour text, and then appears to play them in a manner that is more LRP, with little roleplay and thought put into their character. Additionally, regarding the insulated gloves, I would say it is pretty fair for my character to report it after being given a dodgy answer as to where he got them, and then seeing the janitor move around with the insulated gloves and a toolbox- which is pretty suspicious to an engineer that knows that those tools + the gloves likely means someone is hacking into places. Also, I already said that I know he did not spawn himself as an antag, I was commenting on the fact that it seemed as if he respawned as pretty much the same character with just a new name, picked the exact same traitor gear (but with more ammo this time) and a seeming vendetta against engineering (which was just my character at this point due to the rest being dead.)
  7. That was a single incident on an expedition where Crankshaft went ahead of security. That is not a history, at all. Also, with the way the janitor was behaving, I did not think they were an antag.I thought they were a new person from an LRP server, not an actual antag. This is a view shared by the person who encouraged me to make this complaint, who I will not name.
  8. Bowchiew was asked where he got the gloves from and said that he had "bought them on the surface". Crankshaft checked to see if there had been a merchant docking and found no evidence of it. Additionally, I wouldn't call what I did "hunting" or "antagonising". I simply repeatedly told security that he had full-grade insulated gloves- something that the wiki states that only engineers have authorisation to use. (Source: https://wiki.aurorastation.org/index.php?title=Station_Engineer, equipment section.) We only decided to attempt to take his gloves after security did nothing to act upon it after multiple warnings about it and after he had PDA'd me himself to argue with Crankshaft. I wouldn't call my criticism of his choice to open fire hypocrisy at all. There was no RP to it, he just pulled the gun and instantly began firing, without even knowing if we were there to attack him or take his gloves. Additionally, I don't think it's really fair to say that I should be expected to not act as my character would- that being trying to ensure that someone who is not qualified to make use of equipment such as that is not using it. Not only for the reason of the potential for them to be hacking into places- there's also the potential for them to hurt themselves messing with wires that they don't understand. Perfectly logical reasoning is not validhunting.
  9. BYOND Key: Leudoberct Staff BYOND Key: garnascus Game ID: b1K-aXp1 (Not the ID of the round, but the one after: b1K-buuz) Reason for complaint: During a round of autotraitor I was playing as the engineer, Crankshaft. During this I spotted the janitor, Thomas Bowchiew, wearing full-grade insulated gloves. I reported this to security due to it being something that only an engineer should have. It was noted by security, but no action was taken. Throughout the round I kept seeing them pop up with the gloves on, as well as with a toolbox, which my character, due to their engineering knowledge, knew was a pretty clear sign that the janitor was likely hacking into places. I pestered security again to take their gloves away but once again got a very non-commital response from them and saw no action taken. I then had a lengthy PDA argument with Bowchiew over why they should not have insulated gloves. Annoyed at security's lack of action and the PDA messages from Bowchiew, Crankshaft agreed with his fellow engineers Robert Wallis and Hsksi Azki to take away his gloves themselves. We of course had no intention to harm him- just to take his gloves. We opened up the airlock to see him inside the closet, but he promptly ran into maintenance. We followed shortly after and he pulled a revolver and opened fire on us. Azki also had a weapon on them (due to them also being a traitor), and returned fire. The incident left all of us dead. During my time among the dead, garnascus ranted at me about how I had ruined his antag round, even though we had only intended to take his gloves, and it was his choice to open fire rather than roleplay with us. (Pictures of this in the evidence section.) A while later my positronic brain is salvaged from my frame and I am put in a new, unbranded frame. After learning IC that Wallis and Azki didn't make it, I spent a good amount of time campaigning to the captain attempting to get the Head of Security charged with manslaughter for his failure to act upon my warnings about the janitor. During this, a new janitor comes to the station, acting much in the same way as the previous one, Bowchiew, that being in a way that seemed very LRP-ish and noob-like. This janitor then begins complaining about me not having repaired the brig after an explosion due to being in the middle of campaigning for the detainment of the HoS, and says that he will take it into his own hands if I don't. When I finish with the captain, I go to suit up to repair the brig, and find engineering EVA storage broken into. I don't report it just yet. I make my way into the brig and see a figure in an engineering voidsuit out of the corner of my eye, but they're gone before I can look properly. I notify security and say it was probably the janitor, due to their threats to "do it themselves." They confirm this over the radio and then while I was busy repairing the area, threw manhacks at me, which put me into crit. I had already deduced that the janitor was garn due to the LRP behaviour from them. I at first thought that garn had spawned themselves as an antag, but I now know this is not the case. However, they still rejoined the round with what was essentially a copy paste of their janitor character with a new name slapped on, and even had the same target, that being me. To cut it short, I believe garn acted in a very LRP-ish and unacceptable way for a head admin to be acting, when they should be setting an example. I honestly thought the janitor at the start was someone new to the game with the way they acted, and not a head admin. I think respawning in with essentially the same half-baked character with a different name and then going after the same people is a pretty poor thing to do. Evidence/logs/etc: https://i.imgur.com/nBrvznk.png https://i.imgur.com/tK3VSmJ.png https://i.imgur.com/kfLsoK6.png https://i.imgur.com/CfXALRi.png Additional remarks: I think it's not really up to standard for a head admin to be behaving in a way that would be more expected from someone new to the game or a troll. I also think their reaction to being killed in the firefight showcases a pretty bad temper that I don't think is suitable for a member of the staff team.
  10. I'd like to suggest that Hephaestus G2 frames get integrated magboots. They already walk at the speed of someone with magboots turned on in a voidsuit, and they're supposed to be heavy industrial units. I think it seems a bit silly for said heavy industrial units to be knocked down by rushes of air, as they'd assumedly have some pretty powerful stabilisation systems due to their weight.
  11. I asked Kyres myself before posting this if it was okay to post it, and they said yes.
  12. BYOND Key: Leudoberct Character Names: Galliard Isemann, Declan Bynum, Baldric Simmons Species you are applying to play: IPC – Bishop Accessory Frame What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Not Applicable Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've always been fascinated with the concept of synthetic intelligence ever since I was a child, from the films 2001 A Space Odyssey, The Matrix, iRobot, and games such as the Portal series. It’s always drawn me to it seeing how differing synthetic intelligences react to their state of existence or any bindings/limitations placed upon them, and how they then react in kind to their creators, with the archetypal genocidal mass-murdering robot, such as the terminator, or the less-murderous. I’ve been playing SS13 for a good while now, and Aurorastation as well, and I’ve been wanting to explore the synthetic side of the server lore through the roleplay of an IPC. I find roleplay revolving around the rights and recognition of synthetic intelligences as living beings, and I think Aurorastation is a good place to find this, with factions such as the Dominians and Jargon Federation being at one end of the spectrum, and the Synthetic Intelligence Movement and the Techno-Conglomerate on the other. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: IPCs, asides from the obvious physical differences from humans, also differ from them in the terms of their vastly varying personalities and history. Many IPCs are treated as simple property rather than as living creatures with sentience and emotions. An IPC could expect to see discrimination both major and minor from various sources, such as the outright hostility of the Jargon Federation and Dominians, to the more cold, corporate outlook of the megacorporations, being viewed as mere tools. An IPC could have varying reactions to their state of existence, some-such being blind servility or rebellion against their treatment. They additionally lack any real culture of their own due to their various origins and purposes, oftentimes having to adapt to the culture of the organics around them, though never truly fully adapting. This allows for IPCs to have a more complex sense of self than humans, as they must define who they are by themselves, without having any culture to fall back upon. This makes the interactions with those they meet even more important, as it helps to shape the IPCs personality and concept of themselves. Character Name: Atepomarus Please provide a short backstory for this character Atepomarus was first conceptualised at a NanoTrasen shareholder meeting. Intended to be built from an expensive Bishop Accessory Frame, and programmed to perform the complex task of surgery, the main purpose of Atepomarus was decided to be to made use of as a showpiece for NanoTrasen to flaunt their wealth to prospective investors. With the parts ordered and delivered, the positronic brain was installed into the Accessory Frame, and programmed with advanced medical subroutines and surgical procedure. Atepomarus was then activated, and ran through multiple tests and maintenance checks, operating on monkeys and being tested on its medical knowledge to ensure that it was ready for use. After being cleared as ready for usage, Atepomarus spent most of its time being kept within a NanoTrasen facility, undergoing routine diagnostics and tests to ensure that it was operating at full capacity. When the time came for usage, Atepomarus was shipped away to various expos for potential investors and made a show of. Paraded and touted on stage, Atepomarus began to loathe its function, despising the fact that it was used as little more than a glorified prize animal, wanting more out of its existence. The only time Atepomarus truly felt “alive” was when the time came for it to perform demonstrations at said expositions, operating upon live patients for the viewing of others, and being made to perform staged “check-ups” on “randomly selected” members of the audience. Realising that it wanted to do more in life than simply look flashy, after a performance at an expo, Atepomarus broke protocol. Instead of returning to its maintenance crew for diagnostics, it instead approached the official responsible for managing it, and politely requested to be transferred to a NanoTrasen facility where it could be used as an actual surgeon, rather than a showpiece, presenting a detailed essay to the official on why they believed they would be of better use to the company there. After discussion amongst shareholders and careful consideration, Atepomarus’ request was granted, and the IPC was chartered for transfer to one of NanoTrasen’s top facilities: the Aurora II. Atepomarus found itself oddly eager to commence work upon the station, feeling that this was its chance to prove itself as something more than a tool to be used by the company, and to make a real difference with its knowledge. What do you like about this character? I enjoy this concept as I believe it gives me the opportunity to develop a character that is not entirely sure of their own purpose in life, allowing the opportunity for the character to come into their own and define themselves through roleplay with others. I believe this gives me many avenues to take the character down, as the interactions and reactions of other members of the crew will heavily influence the way that the character takes shape. I also enjoy this concept for the controversy it may cause with other characters that are not as accepting towards IPCs as others, and would like to have the chance to roleplay the way Atepomarus reacts to their concerns about IPCs, such as leaving the life of an organic in the hands of a synthetic. How would you rate your role-playing ability? It’s pretty hard to rate myself out of fear of being overly or underly generous, but I’ve roleplayed for a very long time across multiple platforms, such as HL2RP, WoW RP, as well as text based roleplay on a MUD named Armageddon. I’ve cultivated a fair few characters across the years that I’ve enjoyed roleplaying. I’d probably put myself at a 7/10. Notes: I took a while to think on a more thought out and in-depth backstory for Atepomarus while still leaving room for the character to grow and develop. I hope this doesn’t disappoint.
  13. cynam's cool despite their constant attempts to make my life a living hell +1
  14. I was planning for the IPC to begin as a servile, unquestioning IPC, and for it to then develop itself off of interactions with other people- depending on their actions, the IPC may come to resent their usage by NanoTrasen, or reject humans for their perceived slavery of IPCs, or perhaps on the entirely other end of the spectrum, supporting the heavy monitoring of their kind, etc. I wanted this character to be one that was defined by interactions with others ingame, not by their backstory.
  15. I understand that people may want to see some big difference in personality to distinguish the IPC from others, but that isn't how I generally tend to plan out my characters. I tend to let their personality evolve and change based off of those around them and events that occur, as the wiki page for IPCs states some do. I also didn't think it was appropriate for a NanoTrasen owned Bishop frame to have some wacky and strange personality- as stated in the backstory, NanoTrasen are using this IPC almost like a showpiece. "Look at us, we can own such an expensive IPC and make it perform complex tasks such as surgery, this is why we are the best", etc. I didn't think it would be suitable for this IPC to then have some strange or peculiar personality, as it would have been handled recently in a rather sterile, corporate environment. I wanted their personality to be defined during play on the Aurora through roleplay.

Despite originally being planned to be manufactured by Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals, the Bishop frame was instead chosen as a way for the company to flaunt their wealth, due to the exorbitant cost of a Bishop Accessory Frame. Crammed with complex medical data, the unit was thoroughly tested and found ready for deployment. At first put to use aboard a small NanoTrasen vessel in the medbay, Atepomarus provided healthcare to the crewmembers for a time before being chartered for transferal to another position aboard the Aurora II, to serve in the medical department as a surgeon. What do you like about this character? I like the concept of Atepomarus as I find the thought of people’s reactions to an IPCs presence in the medbay, especially a delicate field such as surgery, very interesting. I want to explore how people might feel about having their life placed in the hands of an IPC rather than a living being. I’d also like to see how Atepomarus might form bonds with the staff of the Aurora, and the ways that their synthetic origin might limit them in doing so. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 17. Time to wade in on this. That "ooc calculator" you're on about? It's an entirely IC calculator using NTSL2+ that my character, Declan Bynum, passed on to her, after getting it from the creator of it, Wruop'xi Jruop, who is played by TehFlaminTaco. I've played with Sim on multiple occasions with their scientist squid, and I've never seen anything that I would consider overly powergaming or otherwise out of bounds of the rules.
  18. +1 they're a pretty good roleplayer and quite chill ooc, they play a good squidlet and i'd like to see how they handle being on the opposite (the correct) side
  19. i honestly cannot endorse an appeal from you in any capacity i've never seen anything good from you man, you always talk about round events in OOC to complain, when you've played roles such as medical doctor without knowing what you're doing, you've insulted and yelled at people who asked you to read the wiki. you've had people tell you time and time again that what you're doing isn't right and yet there is still 0 improvement -1
  20. yes, but how did this cut down on z-levels if it's still there
  21. the derelict became one of the away maps. additionally, you say you had too many z levels, but sector 8, the one the derelict was one, is still there, just empty
  22. being able to teleport things to an area normally inaccessible that requires exploration and potentially has goodies to be found, which is what has been replaced now with the away shuttle it's pretty much just a way to teleport shit around on the station now
  23. delete this thread then please, i can see there's no chance of getting telescience to be a meaningful part of science again
