  1. +1, transhumanism and extreme augmentation is an interesting part of the setting and this will make that aspect just a little more unique.
  2. Let me cook. Operations currently has only two corporations working in it: Hephaestus Industries and Orion Express. I propose that the PMCG gets added to this line-up, bumping the Operations companies to three. Some arguments are as follows: Having just Hephaestus and Orion in Operations, while reasonable, makes it difficult for more anti-corporate characters to work Operations. I'm primarily looking at Himeans and Aut'akh here, but Hephaestus is a very divisive company, and Orion is clasically considered 'unskilled' labour. Adding the PMCG to the line-up gives a new company option, thus stimulating diversity in Operations (and the PMCG has a LOT of diversity.) Furthermore, I could imagine hangar work (sans maybe weapon loading) be considered 'punishment' for misbehaving PMCG personnel, as opposed to the standard janitorial duties often issued. The PMCG is a military contractor, but a large aspect of good warfare is logistics. Having '(para)military' personnel handle the supply lines of the Horizon seems like it'd make sense - these guys are trained to follow protocol, to follow orders, and in a department that's both about effectiveness and profit (through bounties), those guys are good to have. Orion is about speed, Hephaestus is about bulk, have the PMCG be about efficiency or structure. It gives the four Operations jobs new ways to be looked at; Hangar Technicians? They could be flight deck technicians for combat ships, handling the quick refuel and loading operations. They could be logistics personnel at forward bases, outposts, whatnot, holding a light security background of sorts. They could even be considered an entry for PMCG personnel into the corporate world, before making their step up to Security work on a ship, station or outpost. There's a lot of opportunities here. Shaft Miners? Personally I'd see these renamed to, or given an alt-title in the form of EVA Specialist, but these are your salvage personnel, able to assess away sites for certain hazards, and recovering mission-critical equipment. I'm drawing a parallel to diving specialists in the military here, for example. This would need a little care not to take over Engineering's expertise, though, and this one may also need some thinking since it would draw the Spark away from usual mining operations that Science and the Workshop rely on. Machinists? There's finally a solid reason for Machinists to focus on military hardsuits and armed exosuits. Be it the manufacturing, deployment or field testing of new combinations and technologies. Additionally, it would make sense for the PMCG to have their own subset of 'mechanical' doctors since they also hold a presence in Medical. The Operations Manager? Quartermasters, drill instructors, they can go from 'production manager' to 'Alright listen here maggots' style instructors. There's a lot of breadth to be had here, in my opinion. There's a potential lore angle to involve this, too, by showing how the humanitarian aid given by SCC vessels (the Horizon, following the Unathi arc, for example) really benefit from organised field supply. Controversial point, but this would also give a little more of an in-character reason for Operations to order weaponry if shit hits the fan and all hands need to be on deck. I understand this might clash with the recently-passed changes surrounding demilitarization of the Horizon, but I've held this thought for a while now and just wanted to put it out there. Whether it sticks or not, I've cooked.
  3. This feels like the core of what the Corporate Representative should do. Ideally, they could go "I want all Zavodskoi personnel to line up here for uniform inspections", and the department's heads of staff facilitate this. After all, being a part of the SCC means appeasing to the individual companies that make up the body of the SCC. Personally, I'm all for this, as long as this is done with tact. Corporate Representatives are locked behind the Command whitelist, which should already indicate a base level of trust in the players. People should be wary of their corporation's representative, but they should still be able to tug on their boss' sleeves if the representative is being obstructive of SCC goals.
  4. An unidentified signal got in my head and repeated one thing, over and over again: +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 +1 In all seriousness, NekoMarbles is a very good roleplayer, and I'm certain they can pull off the intricacies that come with being an IPC.
  5. Probably keep the Kinetic Accelerator parts in there. They're in a weird spot where they fall between gun science and tools, but having a direct link between mining and machining for better KA's seems like it'd make sense. Other than that, I'd say the Machinist protolathe should have the 'standard-issue' gear of departments. You should go to Research for fancy, upgraded tools. You should go to Operations for replacements for your lost/broken/expired/stolen tools. That does risk stepping on the toes of the Autolathe a bit, though.
  6. I always try to roleplay kitchen regulations as XO and it's such a blast. Fully support ANYTHING like this. I want people dropping knives and if they don't have good shoes they get shanked. Pans should boil and be hot and you need mittens for the pans, but you can't do cutlery with mittens and GOD.
  7. Because my XO already has art, I'd be blessed if you would do Uskiro Kisisril. A serious, Hephaestus-hating Aut'akh, who made me really comfortable playing here (and who got me roped into the Silicon Nightmare event line for the first time ever). Very much someone with a 'working-man's' build, tall and bulky and vibes like that one strange but oddly enjoyable uncle.
  8. CHESED is my personal go-to to see as an interim CMO whenever a situation happens where this is necessary. I am a big fan of Comet's command style, and I am absolutely looking forward to seeing them bring permanent Head characters to the board. Definitely a +1 from me!
  9. ATG is a great roleplayer! They play compelling characters, and I find them to always be improving the round in one way or another. Definitely gets a +1 from me! Idris financial investigator incoming ATG ?
  10. I know Yami as a solid roleplayer, and she has shown eagerness to learn the game and its lore. The application itself particularly highlights the different opinion the various Tajaran heritages have of each other, and Yami does well in explaining how such societal views can be worn down and the consequences of not subscribing to the norm (in this case, denying the NKA opinion of the DPRA, resulting in being disowned). Knowing that Yami is motivated to play Tajara, this application definitely sees a +1 from me!
  11. When the person responds faster...
  12. As it came up in the Discord, is there any interest in reviving this?
  13. Hi Lent, thank you for responding! No worries about it taking some time. I'm very happy that the Kataphract update was received in good order, and uh, you're... welcome..? For saving yourself some work? To me, the 'main' important things of the document are: The new ranking system within the Order. Everything above the Ar'Saa, I'm not too married to, however I am personally firm on the inclusion of the Ezo'Saa. This is partially because I think this could be a fun addition to the Kataphract off-ship, and partially because I think this gels well with Not'zar's increasing bid for modernisation and mutual acceptance among the Unathi. The Chapters. I think having a 'base' a Kataphract could rely on is really good, and later down the line different Chapters could see their presence in the lore one way or another. I don't particularly care who is written as Kara'Saa, Iz'Saa'oa or Iz'Saa'e of every Chapter - only that there are names, base personalities and identities one can attribute to a Chapter. The broad strokes of history that helped reform the Order into what it is currently. The entire section under 'Reformation of the Kataphract Order' aims to show in what ways the Unathi keep modernising and developing, even when said modernisation is directly linked to their ancient traditions. As for the rest, I'm not too married to. I'd be happy to see it taken over fully, but I am also just one person (and not even a writer), and I totally understand if there are parts that do not fit the current course set for the Unathi lore development. The one development that could be pushed to 'now' is the inclusion of the Ezo'Saa - this might be interesting for a couple (3/4) Sinta Articles. I have no strong opinion on the how; I only really care for the fact that the Saa gets a little guy to push around. I would very technically also be willing to write a Sinta Article on the topic but again - I am NO writer, and writing articles is almost fully in the hands of the lore team, and not the players. Hopefully, that covers what you need to know! Apologies if it is a bit all-over-the-place. Should you have any other questions, I'm absolutely free to answer them - either here on or Discord.
  14. Once I noticed the vessel drifting, there was no active threat anymore. They weren't shooting at the Intrepid, or at us. However, it was still a vessel drifting through space, and my IC justification was that it would be dangerous to leave that unattended to. That being said, it would be irresponsible to send the one officer in, when there could still reasonably be danger- we were talking about a ship that opened fire on an SCC ship.
  15. BYOND Key: N. Komaeda Discord Username: viego_vol_kalah Character Name: Osisra Devorask Item Names: | Name: Daunting trenchcoat | Description: "A long and broad trenchcoat, made of sturdy fabrics. A logo is tailored on the back, showing a silver Unathi knight's helmet with red horns." | Functionality: This should work like a cape, capable of attaching onto other suits & uniforms. | Appereance: | Name: Devorask clan flag (& large Devorask clan flag - they should share the same description.) | Description: "A brightly coloured flag, displaying a silver Unathi knight's helmet with red horns on a typical Ouerean backdrop. Five golden rings are shown on the flag, representing the tenets of the Devorask clan." | Extended description: "The Devorask clan is a Ouerean group running anti-piracy operations in Uueoa-Esa space. Though not too well-known, their title of 'The Daunting' has come up in news and communication during the Months of Blood, where members of the clan and group as a whole ran peacekeeping operations at public services, such as hospitals, power plants and spaceports. The Devorask clan, and the general crew of The Daunting, is currently working together with the Dagamuir Freewater Private Forces. Neatly and precisely tailored in Sinta'Unathi on the five rings, in order from left to right, are 'Overwhelming force to minimize risk', 'Clarity of Intent', 'Defend the Defenceless', 'Fear is Power' and 'Master your Tools'." | Functionality: They're banner & flag resprites. | Appereance: Why is your character bringing this item to work?: The flag and banner are of Osisra's clan (Devorask), and the group she operated with during most of her life (The Daunting). Having them with her, and seeing them, reminds her of the tenets of the Devorask clan, which are slightly different ways of looking at honour and combat. These are her roots, and she is proud to represent them wherever she goes. She brings the trenchcoat to work because it is a comfortable coat for her to wear. She also has it with her to always feel like her clan is with her (as it belonged to her uncle). Deep down, it is also a way to 'cover' or hide herself, indicating herself as a very closed-off, private person. A part of its charm is that it conveys her as more intimidating. How did your character obtain this item?: Like described earlier, the flag and banner are tailored for the Devorask clan. When Osisra graduated her management study on Valkyrie, she received the flag and banner as a graduation gift from some of her fellows within the group. The coat belonged to her uncle, and for the longest time she couldn't bring herself to wear it. But having it also be given to her after her graduation, she learned to appreciate it and turn the negative memories surrounding it into more of a motivation to wear it. What value does this item have to your character, and what story does it tell?: The flag and banner are relatively valuable to Osisra (though they can still be remade should something terrible happen to them), but they're a way to represent her allegiance to her own clan and her background as peacekeeper and mercenary. They'll be in and in front of her office, ensuring that any visitors will see it. Such a bright, and lightly intimidating flag, is sure to start some conversations. The coat is very valuable to Osisra, reminding her of the footsteps she ended up filling. It helps her 'cover' herself, putting yet another barrier between herself and the outside, indicating her closed-off nature. The logo on her back is the same as the helmet on the banners, showing off just how much her allegiance, family and community matter to her. Sprites: Devorask items.dmi Additional Comments: I won't be able to make the PR myself sadly, if that could be done by whoever approves it, I'd be glad!
  16. Lore Impact: Medium Species: Unathi, Vaurca Short Description: An expansion on the history, organizational structure and methods of the Kataphract Order. Aims to add one new 'role' for the Kataphract ship. Also collects most of the necessary information surrounding the Saa'Izweski in one place. How will this be reflected on-station?: The Kataphracts are an off-ship role, and this would mainly be seen there. With us going into the Unathi arc in June, we might see a little of this scattered here and there. In-game changes would be the titles given to the Kataphracts (Knight-Captain gets Ar'Saa), and the addition of a bed (next to the TRASH or in the brig) where an Ezo'Saa can spawn (whitelisted! Learners can be unwhitelisted but scum that is discriminated against requires much more knowledge on why.) On-station characters can use this to more accurately describe their original position in the Kataphract Order, gush over specific Chapters (or hate others, I don't judge). Perhaps even down the line, reformed Ezo'Saa may find their way on the Horizon, now considered regular peasants*. Yes, I was inspired to write this after playing the newly remapped Kataphract ship. I love these silly little LARP lizards. *these Sinta are still expected to face discrimination from both their rejected culture and from nobility in the Hegemony. There's no winning for them. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: The Kataphracts already exist, this just serves to give them a lot more depth. Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? As the Hegemon decrees. Unironically, though, it is possible I missed some small details in old lore articles, so no qualms if they get added. 17. 'Ello! Two days or so ago, I had the joy of working together with you as Osisra. I like 309, it feels like they have just a bit more personality than Z.I. units normally have. I found it pleasant to work together with them, seeing as you play them diligently (paperwork is always a plus in my book). Very much looking forward to seeing more of them!
  18. Hello! Disclaimers, formatting is weird because I am typing this from my phone, and it is 2am. So if things come out a bit jumbled, sorry for that. First of all: No offense taken. I understand that this is probably the most effective route to get something like this handled. As for the round. In the round, Security (consisting of two investigators and an officer), as well as myself as Osisra, were just done with a manhunt that can only be summarized as "man fires a shot, hides and isn't seen for another forty minutes". As XO, and sole Command member at the time, I was juggling this situation together with managing an expedition done by the two BC. Almost immediately after the antag went to the residential lift, I was informed by the BC flying the Intrepid that they were fired upon by the Freebooter ship. The Freebooter ship had been in touch with us earlier in the round, but this was their first act of hostility. After securing the ship, and picking up the other BC who was stranded on the derelict mining station, I opt to appoint an interim CE, as well as declare intent to eliminate the hostile ship. I announced over hailing that they had the option to surrender, or we would shoot. There was no response, and I noticed that the ship was drifting in one straight line. Because of those facts (lack of response and the sudden drifting of a vessel after they just engaged in combat), I decided that boarding them would be a better option. My motivation was that a ship drifting in the sector would pose a danger to other spacefaring crafts, and the least we could do is reverse their speed so they stopped moving. With the information I gathered in mind, I determined that this wasn't a 'full' combat mission. The boarding team consisted of a BC, a Physician, the one Security Officer, and the two Investigators. Had there been any semblance of population in the Security department, I would not have sent out the Investigators. It is a bad practice, since they are effectively being asked to be combatants, which is secondary to their normal tasks. The alternative, however, was to send the Security Officer in as the only combatant. This did NOT seem preferable at all to me. I decided that engaging with the Freebooter would be an interesting way to spice up this round that was, in all honesty, made dull by the active traitor shooting once and then disappearing without a word. This involved a lot of the members of the crew in one way or another. What went wrong? - Perhaps you're right, in regards to the Grems! I should've had someone deal with them. But also, by the time the Grems were called, the Canary just took off. - The communication between the entire boarding party was poor, and I did not use the tools I had available to me at that time. This resulted in the entire boarding taking longer than it should have. - My communication with the Warden got off on a really wrong foot, due to me trying to clear up the confusion with the boarding party both over Command and over Security, while also trying to answer the questions posed to me. The culmination of this, together with the mild frustration over the basically-fake manhunt earlier, made my answers towards the Warden abrasive. In my optic, these all contributed to what I think is the core of this complaint. It is very possible I may have overlooked something (I am very tired), so I will get to those tomorrow.
