GlamourChariot - Skrell Application
Loow replied to GlamourChariot's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I am glad to see this approach being taken with a Skrell. I have seen Skrell around the station and many of them seem well adjusted but "quirky". Glam's idea of a Skrell who seems to be fundamentally challenged by human culture (if I am reading this correctly) is a breath of fresh air for a species which I have already come to appreciate. I have had interaction with Glam as she RPed Zinaida and have never found their RP lacking in any way. This character is one whom would be very realistically hired by NT. I look forward to seeing Vaslus adjust to life aboard the Aurora. +1. -
PALADIN was one of the first cyborgs I had memorable interaction with on Aurora. Seeing that borg made me feel as though we had another competent officer on station. PALADIN would interact with crew-members in interesting and efficient ways even when arresting suspects. On several occasions, I saw criminal scum come with PALADIN willingly after he explained their situation to them and announced intent to arrest. I have had some interaction with Shaun as a warden, and he is one of the most capable characters I have ever seen hold that position. In my experience, wardens are either hit or miss with NT. Shaun is definitely a hit. Urist...Urist is interesting. This IPC lives happily in its programming and has even learned to embrace its "flaw" of single mindedness to the point of becoming a zealous miner. This IPC is the definition of how an NT hired IPC should act. It knows and loves its purpose. It comes back to work happily after a "near death experience". In my opinion, Urist would be hired to work on the Aurora in a heartbeat. BeeGee made one of the most memorable synthetics I ever RP'ed with to life. I look forward to seeing them do the same thing with Urist. +1.

I have seen Osiris in action. Dadarian shows promise with their synthetic RP. I would be interested in seeing Osiris develop as an IPC. The idea of a machine seeking to define itself while still paying respects to its past is a fine one. This IPC will make a fine addition to our growing IPCommunity as long as Dadarian continues to deliver the quality of RP I have seen up to this point. Character development is very important to me also. Do not be afraid to try new things with this IPC. I've seen Osiris as it is now. I look forward to seeing how Osiris will be with a new form. You do good work with Osiris. Do not be afraid to push this IPC into any new direction you see fit as it traverses its new "life". Osiris is a good intelligence. Dadarian is a good synthetic RPer. This IPC app is good. I am Loow. I approve this application. +1.

I have had the opportunity to RP with KH as Kelly and GL0R14. I have only had good experiences. I like the idea behind this new character, and I love that KH mentioned wanting to expand their RP skills. I like seeing good RP. I like seeing people try new RP. I'll be getting both if KH gets the opportunity to play this character. Killerhurtz may be new to us, but is proving to fit in quite well. I wish them and this character the best of luck. Welcome to Aurora. +1.

BYOND Key: Loow Character Names: Beatrix Saylor, Brady Saylor, Chance Mendoza, Jace Foster, Teresa Vasquez How long have you been playing on Aurora: About 4 months. Species you are applying to play: IPC. What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Either dark silver or bright grey. Perhaps shaded metallic. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I find the idea of an IPC to be intriguing. Worker drones as well as opinionated personalities being given the freedom to live their lives as they see fit alongside humans and other races... That makes for some interesting RP. I hope to contribute to the existing population of interesting and otherwise well RP'ed IPC's on the station. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Most people are born without a clear purpose for existing. IPC's are usually given a clear reason for why they were manufactured and will often live this purpose out. What happens when an IPC is given freedom? That IPC now has to deal with many of the pressures a human has to deal with despite the fact that they had minimal control of their lives for so long. A human gets most of a lifetime to see how the universe is and attempt to figure out their hopes and dreams. An IPC must shift from a subservient existence to one of new "freedoms" and "choices". Character Name: Jack Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs This Unit was originally designated Unit 021. This Unit was just one of several dozen intelligence created in order to serve a fledgling industrial manufacturing firm. This Unit was designed to work alongside the many humans that had found their livelihoods with the firm. This Unit first understood very little about organic behavior, but was more than willing to learn. This Unit supposes it must have been programmed to be curious. After TWO hundred and TWENTY SIX working shifts, This Unit opted to join the organics for what they call a "break". This "break" confused this Unit. This Unit watched the humans interact and began to process the new data it was now privileged enough to witness. After TWENTY-SEVEN "breaks", this Unit saw something it had not seen before. The humans were passing small pieces of paper between one another, asking for minor forms of violence, then passing the papers back to the organic which had given out the papers. This Unit had not been programmed with knowledge of this behavior. This Unit observed with keen attention, for periodically, one such organic would call out Unit designation numbers. This Unit's own designation number seemed to draw the most significant reactions. THIRTY THREE breaks after the first observation of this ritual, henceforth known as "Black Jack", this Unit was asked to join in the "fun." This Unit found it was skilled at games of chance, but did not enjoy victory. Organics do not like to lose. Organics like winning. This Unit learned to minimize chances of victory unless "supportive" organics were present. Participating in these breaks now involved more interaction for this Unit. This Unit learned much about humans, their views on other "races", and their speaking structure. I also picked up a few "ticks" to make me more "relate-able" to organics. Several of the organics I worked with called me "Jack", and they did so for years. Eventually, the manufacturing firm started to fail and the organics slowly began to be fired. I didn't like seeing the organics leave. I liked the people I was working with. I confronted my "boss" about it and he explained that organics were to expensive to keep paying. I was upset with my boss. I told him I wanted to quit. My boss seemed confused to hear this. I told him like it was, and he started to understand how I was feeling. I am very glad I had this talk with him. That is how I got "fired". One of the organics who called me "Jack" offered to let me stay with them. I accepted that offer. They told me about a company called NanoTrasen. They hire IPC's for good work. I accepted that too. I like living with this organic. This organic has helped me see how human I am. They have taken me to organic gatherings and events. They let me see how organics live. They maintain me. They care for me. I hope to return these favors by providing credits for their pursuits. I have contacted NanoTrasen about their employment contracts. I hope things go well with NanoTrasen. This Unit does not want to disappoint his housemate. What do you like about this character? He is an IPC who learned about life from coworkers in short bursts until he eventually started to develop a personality. He cares about organics and he wants to learn more about them. I like the idea of a kindhearted IPC who appreciates the differences people may share. I think some good RP will come out of his attempts at learning. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Three out of four smiling kittens. I enjoy RP. I want to better my RP skills. I hope this character will put me in new positions to learn and develop as a role-player. Notes: Thank you for reading my application. Let me know what you think and if there is any way I can improve my RP.

monkeysfist's IPC application
Loow replied to monkeysfist101's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I have RPed with Monkey in the past on other servers as well as recently on Aurora. He knows what he is doing. I believe he can RP this character well and will do well RPing any other characters he plans on making. I look forward to seeing "Static" on station. +1. -
SierraKomodo's Unathi Whitelist
Loow replied to SierraKomodo's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Sierra's RP is strong. The strongest. One can not stop Sierra's RP. Also Sierra makes good characters, so I am more than happy to throw my vote in. +1. -
These ideas are gold! I hope we get to see some of them put into action soon. I've seen the legendary Waffle Salesmen in action and it stands firm as one of my favorite Nuke Ops rounds to this day. If anyone can pull off an Inspection Team or Command Transfer, I will be forced to applaud them. If we can get an EFT with "good RP", I fear my sides may enter orbit. Jamini, thank you for posting this thread. Can't wait to see it pay off.

Pyrotechnics2 Head white-list attempt #3
Loow replied to Pyrotechnics's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I have had very little IC interaction with Jack O'Keefe since his first whitelist attempt, so my opinion of this character has not changed. He is overly aggressive with prisoners. He has beaten prisoners to the point where he has been placed in handcuffs. I have seen him fill multiple non-security positions such as EMT and hydroponicist with no IC reasoning as to how he came to hold such positions. In Pyro's first whitelist attempt, I stated that I am unable to trust this character as a head of staff. This has not changed. I have seen no RP that makes me think this character would be an effective Head of Security. I hope to see this character develop in a direction that makes him more a more viable candidate for any security position. Until that happens, I can only remember the RP I have seen so far. Jack O'Keefe is not capable of being a Head of Staff. Not yet. -1. -
Ejundersc0re's Diona Application
Loow replied to Flamingo's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I've interacted with many of Ej's characters and I have yet to be disappointed. His characters seem to be well thought out and he does an excellent job of bringing them to life. I have only had good experiences with Ej's RP, and I am happy to see that we'll be getting another high quality character soon. +1. -
I believe this would be a fun thing to spend a few rounds doing every few weeks or so. At the very least, these experiments offer up a chance to try out some new RP and possibly gain some OOC appreciation for characters whom you may not have noticed. I made a character for the Engineering department in a way similar to Experiment A, and I had a great time getting to meet characters and players from a different perspective. I also became somewhat attached to a civilian character whom I had only intended to play as for a few rounds, so I highly recommend giving civilian life a shot now and then. Who knows. You may decide to keep playing as your "experiment" character. Either way, it's all good fun, right?

I like the look of this sprite and the idea behind the Chassis. Any idea when we can expect to see more sprites?

Pyrotechnics2 Head of Staff Whitelist Application
Loow replied to Pyrotechnics's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I am not too impressed with Jack O'Keefe yet. For one, he has been inconsistent in his rank. Currently, he is an Emergency Medical Technician. Is it plausible for a (usually) warden character to be an Emergency Medical Technician if they have mostly security based skills? Also, is it likely that they would do so in the hopes of one day becoming an HoS? I have to agree that he is overly aggressive. For example, I have seen him in handcuffs for beating prisoners while he has served as warden. If he gets more consistent and reliable, I could trust him as a warden. As a head of staff, I would be unable to trust him. I can not approve of this Whitelist application.
