  1. A big plus 1 Ai is a pain in the ass to deal with and i think this will give thr few extra seconds needed to escape the unavoidable "click click click" of doors being bolted
  2. In that case im going to -1 this suggestion
  3. 30 minutes into the round and Tom Johnson has been caught and stopped trying to emag into the bridge he tries to escape and lands himself in solitary where he is sedated and bucklecuffed and likely to be ignored for an hour and fifty minutes so he ghosts. This is a huge missed opportunity and I think it goes against what antags are supposed to be they do not exist as something that is solely there to be defeated as soon as possible but rather something to spice things up. Playing sec I see this all the time. A mystical blue robed person comes aboard who is able to bend space and time to their will and your first instict is to slap cuffs on them throw them in a cell and forget about them? Why not take them to science so they can do tests with the scientists or medical so they can use thier healing abilities and dab on the doctors or if they are particularly destructive loyalty implant them and have them work for mining? (Inb4 you cant loyalty implant a wiz) Though im not saying sec players dont try to do exactly this but its somtimes so that departments are too apathetic to even want to have interactions with antags. Same goes for traitor you would think that a megacorparation would care more about who is behind an attack. Also depending on a persons gimmick there could arive kataphracs who heard that a person was overly xenophobic against their race and would like to take them for questioning or judgment or if someone claims to be part of the syndicate they might send a negotiator (or even an assassin) to secure secrets etc. (Though i supose it would be better to pm someone before doing these things), or maybe even if a case is less obvious and the proof is curcumstantial send a legal representitive from the traitors home system to protect thier rights who in turn has to interact with the liason or next aplicable command staff It also seems unfair to have such a high standard for antags when whenever they try to interact after capture they just get straight up ignored. Why should I go through any sort of effort with a gimmick when no one wants to interact with me even in the slightest beyond quietly processing me and throwing me into communal where I am to be left alone and treated like someone who has the plague with only brisk akward sentences with the warden, maybe. What im sugesting is mechanics and things that allow more options and events related to antags which seems like a win win I thought id leave that up to the devs as I have no real idea what is hard and what is easy to implement but ill give some examples of things that might further interaction. -Maybe a role whose a Job it is to handle after capture interaction with antags if it is applicable, this can include various antag and mob related spawning powers. This role could serve as a game master of sorts and their agency could even allow them to spice things up if the rounds going to quiet and create a sort of narrative with a admins permission first.(this being a ooc) -Antag specific lab gear which will allow the "study" of things like wizards and lings (even vampires) maybe something along the lines of a holodeck with dangerous mobs to test there combat and healing abilities as well as a chute for throwing in proto humans which come with the deck at round start. As well as a sort of microphone the scientists can interact with. I was thinking the different rooms could be seperated by danger as well as be copies of rooms in the aurora (libraries etc) -A dociler implant which locks someones intent on help and makes them unable to fire weapons, this could be given to people who are just being shitters and attack sec every chance they get and are trying to escape with no hope and who can then be released. -A syndicate sleeper agent role that is a purchase on the uplink which when bought activates someone whos objective it is to save the person who bought it if they get caught There is a lot of interaction i feel that goes lost and a round loses all its vigor once all antags are dealt with which is a shame. Though my ideas are just rough feel free to ad your own ideas to the mix.
  4. Thanks. I personally have a strong dislike for the guard dog tipe doctrine some people have in roles of power within a game moderator or admin role. Barking every which way handing out punishments/repremands to everyone who even looks of over stepping without understanding is just a cause for unessesary trouble. Note that im not putting you in this category as it would be unfair considering your experience but its something to keep in mind. What I mean is that the lobotomized enforcement of a set of rules will do nothing but harm yourself and others the important thing to remember is that the principals of the rules are as important as the rules themselves, resorting to punishments/repremands should be a last resort the first being to eliminate the underlying problem. As you gain experience you'll learn to do so I suppose. Another issue I want to talk about is your afformentioned "reputation". ss13 is both a niche and has extremely loyal followers which means the players are quite passionate about the game. That is why some of the threads about the game have dozens of replies full of copypastas of theories, opinions etc The problem with this however is that this the same reason why members of staff sometimes get complaints about things most would consider banal because they who are the appointed "leaders" are scrutinized tirelessly. You should be sure this is something you will be able to handle because with your so called "reputation" you will most likely be watched even more closely and if you lack the skills to handle this it will ruin the game for you. Best of luck to you. -1
  5. What characters do you play? Also heres a scenario I want to throw at you out of curiosity but if you dont want to answer it for whatever reason or you think its silly I understand. During a round of extended a scientist makes exploding lemons and his testing gets out of hand the research head calls in sec to handle it, the person however injured his bionic leg and keeps falling down but keeps moving away while an officer tries to cuff him so the officer beats him with a stun baton and arrests him. Later the officer gets called in by the HoS and charged with using too much force but he blows it of and walks away, the HoS and warden run after him and aim there gun at him but they reflexively fire and a firefight ensues with the officer soon in cuffs and the other 2 mildly injured. You (as a moderator) pm the officer asking him to explain the situation but he is clearly upset and complaining that the HoS and warden both are terrible players. After getting the just of what happened from the HoS what do you do from here?
  6. Recently a round similiar to what you are describing occured. It was rev and during the round centcomm sent a message saying that biesel and tau ceti are at war and the station is likeley to be invaded. Following this the captian (a loyalist i thin k because all command staff got loyalised) declared martial law and implemented loss of limb for petty crime and execution for above as well as havinng sec loyalty implanted so that they would have no restraint in doing the deed. It was nice and quite refreshing to see how the crew was conflicted among themselves and the rp it generated was quite good. weaknesses: rev is rarely rolled as is As soon as people figure out the gamemode there going to try and valid command staff
  7. just thought an antag hunting antag role would spice up traitor rounds but i see you point
  8. There are a lot of people working for nanotransen and a large portion of them have quite a questionable record, its almost hard to think that theres absolutely no onene looking for an escaped war criminal, former serial killer etc This is where the Ispa come in. Tracking down such individuals and giving them the justice they deserve. The main idea is that its an antag that tries to arrest or kill someone with very questionable exploitable info or a traitor and try to escape with them while trying not to get captured in the process given that no government or organization takes responsibility for them (hence the secret in secret police, think like a black ops judge dredd of sorts). This means that icly they have no legal power. This could also work the other way where they try to rescue and escape with criminals that they feel have been unjustly imprisoned There are 2 ways I see something like this being implemented. 1) the agent is given plain items that all having special abilities (ie a armored jacket that looks like a trench coat or that allows cloacking or something) that allows them to blend in and conduct the "investigation" 2) judge dredd, a powered guy that dispenses justice much in the vein of a less powered ninja they would maybe start at there own littler prep room and get geared then use a teleporter to get aboard Something to note however that it wouldnt be a game mode on its own and that this antag would only really be applicable in rounds with traitors and ninjas as something to spice it up Since i am not a coder i have no idea how easy or hard something like this would be to implement but i thought about this and thought i should put it here anyway also this is only really a starting point of an idea so feel free to ad more sugestions or better ideas for implementation.
  9. Eh, not a fan
  10. Recently a player announced he was new to ss13 in ooc and I who has always been a firm believer lrp is the best place to start when starting out gave him advice to do so because its a more lenient environment and players are more free to experiment. Though another player made the point that hrp communities in general tend to be a lot more helpfuller and friendlier when a player starts a new job or doesn't understand a mechanic. Which to me also made a lot of sense What are your thoughts? How did you learn starting out and do you think it would've been better if you started out in a hrp/lrp environment instead?
