Hey, I'm back. I'm not really making an introduction but this is more of an apology for how much of a dick I was prior to my absence. IIRC I was banned/kicked before I left and I have to admit I was a big asshole. I've spent a good year away now and I can say I've matured a lot but instead of me going on about it I'd rather just show you by how I play in-game. I hope to see some familiar faces when I start playing again. Much love, Prospekt.

An implanted head of security beat a handcuffed and restrained prisoner as "re-education", lied about not having done it to their command peers, imposed martial law and ignored the medical authority of a CMO in regards to wounded patients, broke regulations and the chain of command to ensure they would effectively get away with beating someone who was restrained and cuffed. I, the CMO, who displayed no physical acts of aggression whatsoever, was physically manhandled in disgusting ways while the security force roleplayed as Chicago cops. This is fair to no one but the security force. It is the security force going directly out of their way to shit on the rounds of other people for their own personal enjoyment. It needs to stop, and the best way to start is by disciplining folks who provide an awful example to the security force. This complaint is necessarily because there is already another incident like this still hanging in complaint limbo and there's little being done there. This one is supporting that one in order to outline consistent behavior. Force was not necessary to be applied, yet it was applied anyway. It was not needed to beat someone, yet it was done anyway. If this is true then I take back my previous statement, I'm not one for security shitters. But, I feel the need that I don't need to post anymore after this. I'll simply see how this fleshes out, but yeah if the HoS was literally beating people and lying about it, alongside security helping them; then keep this open. I hate security shitlers.

He has a point, to be honest. Yoiko is known to be a griefing pain in the rear end and I've seen him blatantly attack people for the most minuscule reasons. Regardless of medical treatment coming first, if the prisoner is unoccupied by a security officer, they ARE TO BE CUFFED. It is a high security priority to keep prisoners secured and incapable of causing further regulation breaches. Alongside how the prisoner can easily backstab you just to save their own ass and escape, I've seen it happen many times. (Baldy McBalds grabs a scalpel, somehow gets you into a grasp, slits your throat, takes your ID, and now sparked a manhunt plus murdered you). Basically, my conclusion to all this is that a player complaint is really not needed, it's a double-edged sword that can simply go both ways. It just seems like a petty complaint that can be binned and solved by a simple statement that, "Security is in charge of regulations and security operations, but they are to hand them over to medical if medical reasons are obviously there and need to be treated immediately, however they must be secured by security personnel if they are to have their handcuffs removed."
-
I have to admit I haven't read everything in this post (tl;dr). But, I do know what delta is talking about and honestly, if someone needs medical treatment, it is to be handed off to the medical division with security supervision (if needed). Sourced directly from Corporate Regulations. I was there, observing the situation briefly. It was late last night and I can barely remember it exactly, but I do remember the HoS ignoring the CMOs demands that this prisoner required medical treatment (whether it be psychological therapy or physical treatment).

Well, then how about we switch it to both? Considering what Sierra said, it'd make more sense for it to be both.

Alright, so basically at the moment there are two ways to "detective". Either take up forensics or work on cases, etc. I believe that it'd be interesting to have bugs (a small device that can be hidden per say underneath objects or other areas that are minuscule and hard to find without knowing that you are exactly looking for it). Basically, it'd work as small devices that detectives start out with in their closet(s). One being sound-orientated where it only picks up sound and the other being possibly a small hide-able camera. They can be used separately or together for ultimate usage (sound/view combo). With this, you'd be able to effectively listen in on or view areas of interest, given you'd need to gather evidence against someone or in rare cases, something. Optional? Perhaps this is too unlikely for a normal detective? Maybe it can be a traitor item instead, you choose. In my own opinion, I think that this would be a great feature to the detective job, furthering their capabilities to catch pesky criminals.

I honestly love this suggestion, another great feature proposed by our local Jackboot. I felt for a while that money was literally a useless feature that no one uses nor cares for and it really should be used more. So, I'm definitely in favor of this being implemented, seeing as it would improve the use of money in the game and not make it where it's just a cosmetic thing that takes up space.

Basically, this is probably a simple addition to the game mechanic as it's a basic copy/paste of current sunglasses that utilize hud features (Sec-hud, etc). But, it's for the Vaurca, due the fact that at the moment it looks really odd with them wearing glasses as they have nowhere for the glasses to fit over the ears, along-side not fitting over their eyes at all; making them look really goofy. What I propose, is a pair of contacts that provide a semi-thick layer (basing off sec-hud utilizing sunglasses) to protect the eyes (if sec-hud ofc) and provide any type of hud (given it's actually a type that provides a hud). Now, I know it'd be odd that they just stick on, so feel free to give suggestions on that. Anyways, if that all makes sense and you haven't clicked the back arrow, go below. Sprite-wise it would simply just go over the Vaurca's black eyes on the sprite. Very simple, huh? So, let's get rid of the librarian Vaurca look that they have going on.

This is dope. Probably one of the most interesting ideas that I've seen in the past week. I hope this gets added so I can start sitting in balls like the good ol' days as a wee sperm.

It's sad you aren't back for good Hello Neb

The only thing that was funny was when one of the kitchen ware venders launched a kitchen knife into a chef. Besides that, it's just really annoying and I just ignore it most of the time. It creates little to no RP what-so-ever and is just a big thorn in the ass that can be replaced with something that generates way more RP than what it's currently being used for. I really do hope this random event gets scrapped to be honest, it's just an annoyance, flat out.

Archie Sangs Lab assistant, helper, intershipee, So the past day or so, I've started up a new character by the name of Archie Sangs. He is of British ethnicity, from Earth obviously, who's been working to become a full-fledged scientist. But, for now, he is currently serving as a lab assistant to either R&D (sometimes) or Xenoarch (Mostly)-- oh and anomalies. This is mainly for training purposes until he earns his promotion/certificates to become an actual scientist, call it an internship if you will. It's probably the first really serious research character that I plan on developing and I want some constructive criticism on what I need to work on with the character. So far a fair bit have seen him, so I don't expect feedback immediately. But, I'm leaving this up so people can pop by and leave their opinion on the character. So, criticize away my friends.

Yes, please. When I become a Vaurca I want to be able to grow my own spore-food.

BYOND Key: Prospekt1559 Character Names: Ryan Horowitz(Security Officer), Ryan Harrison(Captain), CMD-0 (IPC, Security Officer), Silaris Uaekis (HoS, Unathi). Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): I'm assuming the default color? I was told that you are unable to change the color of Vaurca. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, I have. Please provide well-articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: Well, ever since about last year-ish I've been patiently waiting for Vaurca to be finished. All the excuses as to why it wasn't finished, etc. Well, upon coming back I find that it is now finished and I just couldn't wait to start writing an application for the race. I'm really happy as to how interesting they've made the race be after all of the concerns about it just being another copy/paste. Vaurca is very interesting, they're somewhat similar to real-life insects with a twist. I feel that with the given options that you can take with the race, it gives you a lot of free room to customize your character with the race itself. Such as unbound, they aren't very limited to the limitations that come with bound-- but it's still OK. Both sides fair well with customizability, thus making it a great race to grow a story with. This I believe, is why I am interested in the race the most. I'm a big story-writing fanatic and I believe Vaurca is a great race to do so in, in fact, more than the other races that Aurora supply you with. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: As said above, the Vaurca are very different in terms of how they are built up lore-wise. There's a lot of options to pick from, making this a very complex yet interesting race. Players who look to create a character within this race have a lot of choices on which path(s) they wish to take within the Vaurca race. This is what makes roleplaying with this species very interesting, the amount of ways you can create a story with this race really makes me eager to jump right on it, and that's exactly what I plan on doing. From all the types (A, B, BA, etc) you have a lot of routes you can take, which makes it all the fun when creating a character to build with. Character Name: Za'Akaix'Zabrex Zo'ra Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Za'Akaix'Zabrex of the Zo'ra hive is an unbound, type BA Vaurca standing at approximately 6 feet 5 inches who had been living it's "useful" life working as a bug-abiding well-- bug within the hive of Zo'ra. That's at least until he was ripped from the society he loved. Zabrex had fulfilled what had been needed and whoever had been in charge of their current life had decided that they were needed somewhere else. To recent suspicion, Zabrex knew of the recent missings of fellow bug colonists. Fortunately or unfortunately, Zabrex assumed right and was quickly placed into what he thought was an odd name for a company of humans; "Nano-Trasen". He with his few questioning and angry refute of being removed from his normal bug-life. None-the-less, he was put into a program without leeway of choice. This program ensured that his type B structure was put to use with maintaining security within NT's stations. He was to train and someday become a full-fledged security personnel for NT. Regardless, he had been used but he had no choice. Zabrex was different, he wasn't mindless like his fellow colonist bugs, but he thought it had been useless to resist his fate. He openly boarded that shuttle, gazing upon the destination, "Next stop: NSS Exodus". But, perhaps we should rewind a little. Know more about him, per say? From what they could tell, he was a type B Vaurca within the most powerful hive. A warrior that had been through skirmishes with competition with other hives. His natural born with skills were going to be used by big corporate humans. Despite his constant battles with protecting his home-hive. He was unbound, but still maintained a listening order when it came to where he was pointed to. He didn't exactly have a choice, human society was still getting to know his species and they were still trying to mend the alliances that would move them further in this world; away from destruction. So, unfortunately, his unbound specialties didn't mean much in this world. As much as he was given the ability to be free, he thought more about his colony hive than himself. He fought for his Queen and planned on continuing to do so, except under the ruling of corporate "big guys". What do you like about this character? How would you rate your role-playing ability? I've been roleplaying for a good 4 years now. I'm really on the fence as I do not tend to enjoy judging myself due to the factor of being biased against myself. But, pushing that all aside a fair judgment I'd have to say would be an 8. Experience, fortunately, pays off. Notes: Thank you for reading my application and possibly considering me. I apologize if I'm missing a few details, but I'd be willing to learn more from experience as I always have from previous races; not everyone gets it down to a tee right off the bat. Regardless, thank you for reading.

^ That, is there for a reason. I would be fine with Station Administrator/Station Overseer as alt titles. 'Captain' just feels a little too militaristic at times for a position that can be rather flexible in background when it comes to attaining it. I understand the whole one thread per suggestion. But I'm pretty sure it doesn't limit you down to one tiny thing, especially a title. BUT HEY, rules are rules. Anyway, I do agree with you. Captain is way more fitting if it were to be a vessel or ship. At the moment, we're planning on making a map that's on a planetary object, when we do switch I believe that Station Overseer would be way more fitting than a title that is pretty much irrelevant due to the fact that I stated above.
-
Clearly you didn't read my post fully, friend. Regardless, suggestions can turn into further ideas. It's still relevant due to the fact that other people are now suggesting additional alt-titles to other positions.
-
To be honest, station overseer is more fitting than captain due to the fact that it's not actually a ship but more of a stationary object in orbit (or out of orbit, idk). But I wouldn't go adding a bunch of alt-titles. Possibly one for each head of staff role would suffice rather than multiple on one role.

Oh my god, why has no one thought of this before. Incredibly useful in nuclear rounds, damn security always stealin' my headset.

[DENIED] Prospekt's Moderator Application
Prospekt posted a topic in Moderator Applications Archives
Server Moderator Application Basic Information Byond Account: Prospekt1559 Character Name(s): Ryan Horowitz, Silaris Uaekis, Hikmat Jawdat AI Name(s): A.I.M Preferred means of contact: Skype, Forums, on server, and BYOND messenger. Age: 15 (Give it 4 months and I'll be 16) Timezone: EST When are you on Aurora?: Either early in the morning or right after school (given I'm not doing anything after school). Those times are 5 AM OR 2 PM (4PM if I'm doing something). Experience How long have you played SS13?: 2-3 years IIRC, I've been playing a while. Mainly Aurora and Goon, however I've found my love back in Aurora. How long have you played on Aurora: 1-2 years, ha. Yeah, it's been a long time with you folks. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: A lot, as much as to be expected from someone who is meant to guide players if need be. From my experience, I've gained a lot of knowledge about the mechanics of Baystation's build through playing on Aurora. One thing I cannot get a grasp on is atmos and telesci. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: Plenty, I mean I WAS a moderator for a short time on Aurora. However, I had to cut my trial short due to schooling. My experience as a moderator for SS13 might have been short, but besides how it works with mechanics on SS13 it's no different from moderating anything else. Moderation is it's own expertise, it is used to maintain stability on plenty of platforms. I've had plenty of experience with moderation itself, from games such as Garry's Mod or even ranging to Minecraft. I've been there, done that. Moderation isn't new to me and I'm a seasoned veteran when it comes to it, not that I like boasting about myself; I believe it's a good way to describe my experience within this application. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Nope, not once on Aurora. Other servers? Of course, it's doubtful that anyone who's been playing games has ever NOT been banned. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I play SS13 because of it's unique mechanics. It's something that has a medium to large learning curve depending on what you take as a profession within the game. What really interests me is it's mechanics on space, how if you break glass leading to any space tile, it works as if it would IRL. The items come flying in a vacuum. Let alone, SS13 is a great time spender, I've had a lot of fun moments within SS13 that I can say are better than any other game I've played; keep in mind, we're talking about a pixelated top-down game. I could drone on about how I love and love SS13, but when it comes down to it. I just love the experience and how much fun one person have from such a simple looking yet hard mechanic game. Why do you play on Aurora?: Aurora is different from any other server within the BYOND server list. I've tried them all from Hippiestation, Goonstation, Yogstation, etc. None of them have ever made me really stay put and say, "Wow, this is a community I can put my efforts and skills into and actually enjoy everyone here". Aurora with it's many different features is the only server to really get RP right, not only RP but the community who just makes it work. So why do I play on Aurora? It's because of YOU, that's why I play on Aurora. You guys truly make the experience and that's what makes Aurora worth while for me, every single player of this community makes the jig-saws fit into the big puzzle. What do moderators do?: Moderators handle stability, by stability I mean maintaining rules, gameplay between players, and the fluidity that comes with the rules. Without moderators, there'd be griefers of all types roaming the server and generally f***ing up everyone's shift. Moderators are meant to make sure that everyone is able to play the game the way it's meant to be played. They rid out the baddies from the good bunch and keep the flow of the server going at a stable pace without interruption of those who try to ruin other player's experience. Not only that, but another aspect is to make sure a player isn't halted by mysterious bugs or questionable mechanics that a player per say wouldn't know because maybe he's new or maybe it's just a player who is inexperienced in a certain field of work; the list goes on and on. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: It means that you have a job at making sure each and every player that is currently on Aurora has the best experience they can have. That means, solving not only their problems but the people who make problems. To be a moderator for Aurora, is a gift. You are the one who makes sure that everyone is happy and uninterrupted so that their gameplay is as fair and equal as everyone elses'. Why do you want to be a moderator?: Well, why do I want to be a moderator? The key question to this very application. There was a time where I was once moderator for this server. Probably the most enjoyable experience I've had in SS13, to be able to have the ability to make sure each and every player has the best experience they can have within the server. I feel like this is a really big influence on why I want to be a moderator for Aurora, to have that feeling that I accomplished something for someone, I helped someone, have that great experience that they should have when they connect to Aurora Station. No one likes problems, so being the one to fix it is my expertise. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I've grown a few qualities that I could notice over the time I've spent moderating servers. It helps you handle things that would normally come with moderating 30-40 players on one server, that being stress or dealing with jerks who try to insult you. I've grown the quality to brush off petty insults or just understand that it's a game. Games become frustrating at times, but at the end of the day it's just a game and you're meant to have fun no matter how hard or difficult it might be. So, I always try to find the fun out of things rather than getting angry and destroying the key purpose that comes with games; fun. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: Fairly well. It's one of the things that really doesn't get to me. I make sure not to put professions second and instead put them in front of all the stress, anger, and insults. It's something that comes with SS13 anyway and it's expected. It's just a game, as I explained above, games get frustrating and after the years of moderating I've learned that it's best to drop things than hold onto them and just grow more angry over it. Anything Else You Want to Add: (Do not put words here) I apologize if anything is short, I like to just cut to chase most of the time than actually drone on. It's been a while since I've been back on Aurora and Skull convinced me to write up this application as you guys need more moderators. Plus, now with the summer coming I'll have A LOT of free time that I can spend on moderating. Also a side note on my behavior from a couple months ago, I was uh-- going through a thing; can't really give an excuse but a shame on me. I'm also not really good with writing applications, sorry. Thank you for reading my application, I'm grateful that you took your time to consider me once more for your staff team. -
BYOND Key: Prospekt1559 Character name: Jack Scully Item name: Black Leather Jacket Why is your character carrying said item to work? He wears the Jacket as a part of his attire as a Detective or just in general. Instead of having a long coat or whatever else he just wears this to his every day shift on station. Item function(s): Two item slots, that's it. It's mostly cosmetic. Item description: An old black jacket made from leather, it seems a bit worn down. Item appearance: Says it in it's name. Think of any black leather jacket and that's it. Reference picture (Except it's zipped up not open): Additional comments: If you need me to describe more then just say so, .

Well, after a lot of months I'm officially addicted to SS13 again. Midterms are over and I have free time again. I've always loved Aurora, no matter how many times I was a complete asshole on the forums when I would pop back in which I apologize for. I'll be hanging around on the server mostly on dead hour and when the server has a lot of pop. All I can say is..
-
taking hostages is useless, you never win in any situation unless you have more numbers than sec. Why? Because security or any other buffoon will simply lolrush you and play hero. I've yet to see a single security guard care for the one being taken hostage as long as they are Mr. Hero.
-
Yes, because if someone runs up to me with a ballistic of some sort or a laser weapon, he/she is going to give me enough time to put on my vest. Yeah, no. It makes sense for you to wear a kevlar vest as means of protection because at any point someone can take hostile action against you and possibly kill you depending on whether you have kevlar on or not.

I'd literally finish their limbs, their main sprite is done. Limbs just need to be worked on IIRC. With the help of a coder, I could get Vauca done.
