I second this. I can admit to using a fiery rhetoric to possibly drag more emotional (and as a given, more sincere) posts from the others so I can find out what the real deal here is, because it's obvious this argument is now expanding into something more along the lines of OOC salt than anything else. The problem is that someone has more of a grudge against someone else than he is willing to let on....

It's 100% obvious you've got something going on with him outside of this complaint due to the fact that you mock all of his defenses as 'invalid opinions' as though they have no value to them, and won't actually take the time to back off and remain unbiased. Read my post. Or Skull's. Or Dumplinz's. It's not gank because your deaths were part of a larger scale of RP. Had they bombed you at round start, or ran around with guns and shot you dead without absorbing you, or done anything even close to that, it would be gank. But what happened to you was merely a quick, deliberate killing blow. You seriously can't expect those guys to just perform a full RP fight with two sec members in the middle of a ling round, right? :L Garn isn't saying you guys did anything wrong at that event. What you did wrong was beeline for departures to punch a handcuffed guy just to feel satisfaction right after getting cloned.

If you want to ban them for powergaming then ban everyone. Endless loops of powergaming is actually the homeostasis you want to keep, and something we have always had and everyone here does, because that's natural everywhere, not just in ss13. It's the foundation of competition, and as long as we have players playing to win, or complete research, or make mechs, or make chemicals, or protect the crew, powergame will always repeat itself in a huge ever expanding loop. I hate your flawed logic that you think a founding principal of nature is just some "flawed logic" that I thought of. Next thing I know you're going to tell me that the earth is flat.

I'm gonna' jump in for a second because I don't think there are enough people here with enough real thoughts to find out what the hell happened and why it happened. If it's not warranted, please remove my post and jboy's and dumplinz. I'm on Garn's side 100%. To start, this was not gank in the slightest. In fact, I see this done all the time on changeling rounds. This is completely normal. Let me explain why. The lings RP'd the setup for it fine. They were in character. They can't just go around singing and RPing to every player they want. At a point, they will hit what I call the red zone. Where they are FORCED to powergame and kill without words to keep the other side from powergaming right back. I'll prove how this is in fact a thing, but first, let's look at the options of the lings. They already have a small group of officers ready for the killing, and they've decided on this ambush for a while. They can: 1. Start performing monologues and trust fucking security AND Ana Roh'hi'tin to not just shoot them in the face. 2. Kill the officers discretely, quickly, cleanly, and still talk to eachother to keep their own selves alive. 3. Not have any communication with eachother and run around the station shooting assistants and cargo technicians in the head and run off without absorbing them. Situation 1 is a thing that people used to do until sec turned into a powergaming faucet of bullshit. Ana Roh'hi'tin played a big part in making antags too competitive for 100% fun. I remember there being tons of situations where Ana just sat in space with a sniper and shot all the antags in the back, and I remember seeing her do this in countless other antag roles. That was something that made many antags too scared to try to trust their victims to RP back. This situation happening in itself is the fault of security for being so god damn hell bent on winning. Nowadays if people even try to perform an action of 'me stabs you in the back' most sec players will just spam pepperspray and cuff, then permabrig. Situation 2 is what they chose, and it worked. Situation 2 is what everyone in this thread has chosen, and to call it gank is ridiculous. They weren't just going to let you kill them and take their time. They had a plan to lure the bad guys into maint and kill them, they executed it in a way that prevented the enemy from just taking advantage of their mercy, and it worked! Why get mad? To get killed by something so quickly and silently sounds like a real rush tbh. Props to the lings. Situation 3 is gank, just for a fair comparison. It's killing just for the sake of killing, offering not a word to the enemy even though they face no tactical threat. Now, I predict these engineers absorbed sec, and gank lings don't absorb people. Anyways, now that that's out of the way, the EoR grief. Unfortunately, you just can't do that, and that's where that ends. If they're cuffed, that's even more of a reason for admins to immediately stop you, and even ban you for three days. Not only that, but FOUR telebaton hits? You couldn't just stop at one and RP the rest? From an outsider's view looking in, it seems to me that this is an instance in which sec played the powergame and lost the duel, and got mad as a result. They got cloned, and instantly bolted to exact justice on their murderers for satisfaction, regardless that it was EoR. That's just not allowed, and you should be grateful Garn didn't just ban you. I stand with Garn and Dumplinz.

Another detail I only barely mentioned was the fact that it's not only being burned but the feeling of pointlessness I feel when getting dedicated to something as crazy as ss13 community. Most people know its temporary, but for me, I'm always at 1 minute to midnight on the doomsday clock, seeing as that's how archangel was, what with the host banning the poster above and below a guy on the forums that he banned just to prove how powerful he was. The two other guys didn't even do anything wrong, for fucks sakes... I feel like it's going to end any minute now. And I'll always feel that way, so I'm always prepped with the last laugh in hand. EDIT: the last laugh is almost always a shitpost that took less than 2 seconds for me to think up but it's better than fuxking trying to keep my head above water screaming like on AA.

My path is not to fall in love with a fucking 2d spaceman simulator again. It's just easier to, I dunno', dodge emotions if you're laughing while doing it.

I'm gonna actually use correct grammar and periods in this post like I used to. Okay, I guess I owe everyone a bit of an explanation as to my recent impatience, aggressiveness, apathy, and general obedience towards any sort of authority. Both in game and on the forums. Valentines day will mark my two year anniversary of playing on Aurora. Around February 2014 I was around 15 and a bit immature. I played nearly all females, with strong accents, powerful independence, rude vocabularies, and hostile tendencies. Some were very gentle and nice, but they were all very distasteful. I was, I guess, a very popular community member with Mikus and memers alike. Though I think I didn't enjoy the memers as much back then, to be honest. I was heavily invested in playing out romances, meeting nice people online, and generally being socially active. I never, or so I remember, ever, ever, got in trouble. I even tried long distance relationships with some chicks. That didn't work out so well, but it was still fun for the first 5 minutes. About a year in towards playing on Aurora, (I would say 8 months) a good friend of mine took a joke too far and suddenly got me laughed at by a few people, and that hurt, so I decided I'd take a break. He got removed and I didn't go back, and instead settled for Archangel station. Archangel station was a Warhammer 40k conversion for space station 13. There were at least 300 laser rifles (lasguns) in the armory, and each laser rifle had 150 shots in it. Lots of killing power. There were even more powerful guns that certain roles got that had infinite ammo and such, but my point is that this server was controlled entirely by firepower. I was killed constantly. Within seconds of joining a round I'd see two attack logs and I would then be dead. I was one of the few people on that server that was ever able to RP at all. Most of the time of you stopped to perform an action, a guy would barge in the door, kill you, and run off. Mikus would never survive there. Believe me, they tried. There was only one type of player that could survive on archangel to the end of the round. A paranoid motherfucker who always had a plan to kill everyone else in the room. It fascinated me. And I became a primary admin there. The other admins liked to bomb players or ask the players in the server vote command if they wanted an event in which the admin would have an admin mech and kill everyone, and the players voted no, the admins would cast another vote with two options, asking, "Is AA a democracy?" The two options were both No. And the event would run and the admins would grief. However. Once I was admin, the playerbase soared from around 5 players average to 30. I was throwing events and doing fun stuff. Lots of people told me I was the only thing keeping it together. I stayed there about 8 months, fighting and biting through multiple host relocations and headmin demotions. It occupied my life, and I spent nearly every waking hour making sure the other players were still able to have fun no matter how hard the other admins griefed and abused them. I was one of the toughest killing machines there. I became a figure of law and robustness, famously killing the entire server on multiple occasions and still making it fun for them. I always let the playerbase choose stuff. After countless stories that I could get paid to travel the world and tell involving the corruption of that place, I noticed that the playerbase was being set up for replacement, in that all the old players would be banned and the admins would advertise the server for a more aggressive audience, and I was resigning to convince people from staying long enough for the admins to boot them. We were going to fall on our own swords. Well, a month later or so, the server went bankrupt. No players and no donations. We'll call that a coincidence to be polite. The thing that fucked me up the most in all of this is that this entire process of me deciding to leave occurred in about 2 minutes. It was a tidal wave of emotion. But I kept myself together. I didn't blink, and what I let myself feel the most was resentment. I found myself staring at the Aurora lobby not long ago. I was back. But I had forgotten how to play my old characters. I deleted them all, and started new ones. Goofy ones. Ones that kill without mercy if the situation calls for such. Drill sergeants, kill bots. I could never go back to role playing silly stuff, because if you did anything besides kill on Archangel, you were dead in a heartbeat. I can never, ever, feel attached to a community again after Archangel. I was the hero of that server, and when the time came, all I could do to save the playerbase was leave, and the server still died. Every time I try to type with correct grammar in OOC I feel like I'm teaching nope22 on how to play Inquisitor, or respond to a PM of Austinwelser trying to remember how to spell hereticus. Or andrewserafini asking me to make him a slime. Or true disciple telling me I was the best primary admin he's ever had the privilege of looking up to. Or brutishcrab51 on his first day trying to learn the lore of Warhammer 40k. In short, I let myself get too close and got burned. And I'll be damned if I ever get close to a fucking space station 13 community again. The only pals I've been close with since were the ones that I knew from before Aurora. They drew out innocence in me. And they're leaving and getting banned every day. And it makes me recede even further from coming out of my shell. So the next time you see me being a retard, just know that I'll be out of your hair one day. For now, I'm just gonna sit in the corner and badmouth Mikus. Sorry.

I don't like this mindset, as it implies that it's only okay to throw character complaints if the plan doesn't work, which goes against the whole mentality that, 'Hey, we're not playing to win here.' I'm trying to say that it doesn't matter if it had succeeded or not. But I'm also pointing out that it failed along the way, to defuse the thought that "hey, it nearly worked, why get mad at him?"

Reason for complaint: Gross irresponsibility leading to the loss of the IPC code. Their ridiculous carelessness led to the extinction of code we'll have to imitate because the guy who originally coded it (JackFractual I think?) is gone. Thus we can't replicate it. Only imitate it. I don't get the point of these defenses. Alberyk mindlessly rushed a hostage situation and it almost worked out good before the hostages died. UH. SO. What does that mean, exactly? I'm 99.9% sure that still means it failed and he got hostages killed. Thus I think this player complaint is still valid. :Y
