  1. I was actually not aware you could insert Lower Tier symptoms into higher ones. I had assumed that you could only put tier to tier. Well, that does effectively make a good portion of my argument invalid. That doesn't negate the rest of it though.
  2. I think this would be the best way to go about handling it, honestly, though I'm not sure if coding this would be harder than fixing the event itself.
  3. Fair enough. The staff seems to blow these minor diseases out of proportion when I'm on, if that's all they typically are. This is most likely to prevent people from releasing viruses that cause all of the super deadly symptoms at once while rendering the victim unable to seek help.On TG and servers with TG viro (like Hippie), it is extremely easy to make airborne viruses that are lethal as hell and require rare cures. While I understand this, this isn't how it really works. You can have a virus with a single symptom (None of this same symptom duplication either... that is just... infuriating to see). A virus with a single symptom, maybe even two, while rare isn't impossible. It's one that's specialized itself down to doing just one or two things, besides propagation in the host body. It's a virus that's really good at what it does, and literally nothing else. My proposal is to have a way to make single/double/triple symptom viruses without having to spend hours at the incubator, irradiating the crap out of a virus to get that chance duplicate symptom you're looking for at a higher/lower level... because then you're just wasting your time beating your face against the wall. See my first few sentences. What would be so wrong with having the ability to insert Stage 1 Symptoms at Stages 3 or 4? It would make a great tool for antag virologists who don't wanna kill anyone (because watchout banhammer), but still incapacitate the crew to the point where they are not able to do much against them because they're constantly dropping weapons due to sneezing/coughing/whatever... (and yet still leaving them capable of fighting back at the same time) You can just overwrite the worst symptom with Waiting Syndrome. I do agree that you should be able to remove some virus symptoms. Provided you can get Waiting Syndrome at the proper Stage by random happenstance. You can't insert Waiting Syndrome into any Stage except its own, which is only Stage One. You might get lucky and get a Stage Three Waiting Syndrome... but you've gotta be like... right hand of Singulo God lucky. See my previous reply to get my suggestion for this. I am going to agree with you on that one. Boring and tedious, ain't it? 1. You can already do that. A lot of times, viruses are just an annoyance. Not to my knowledge. 6 out of 11 Stage Four symptoms are lethal. 4 of the remaining 5 have consequences that can be considered pretty hard to 'live with', and would likely kill a lot of RP. It's common knowledge that Orange Juice can assist in clearing up a cold, while milk can make it worse, depending on the bug. Going to the bar/kitchen for a glass of OJ will free up Medical in the event of an emergency if all the patient is exhibiting is coughing/sneezing. This works in conjunction with my 'lesser virus' proposal above. 3. Good point. Right? I remember making a literal zombie virus from the symptoms on TG, with everything except reanimation of the corpse. It consisted of TG's following symptoms: Autophagocytosis Necrosis Coughing Confusion Deoxyribonucleic Acid Saboteur Eternal Youth Fever Flesh Mending Heat Resistance Sensory Destruction Viral Self-Adaptation Projectile Vomiting Vomiting Blood Basically, the infected healed themselves of almost all damage (at a slow rate). The infected would take cellular damage from the Necrosis and be -really- hungry... However, the cellular damage would be healed by Flesh-Mending, which would convert it to burn damage, which was then healed by Heat Resistance. Brute damage would also be healed by Flesh Mending as well, so the infected was nigh-invincible, if in a one on one/two/three scenario. Sensory Destruction would ensure that their senses would dull over time and they'd suffer brain damage (though that was healed almost as quickly as it was caused. This would lead to the infected's inevitable death, should they not be cured in time) at the same time. V. Self Adaptation would ensure the virus was fuckin' brutal to cure and slightly stealthier than it would be without... but this addition was mainly for the cure difficulty. The two types of vomiting were for the lulz. Fever, confusion and coughing are all symptoms of basic bugs and can be found in most of the starting stuff you get. Also, that's typically how an Outbreak is shown to be spreading. 4. People will just make pills of every medicine possible and pass them out when an outbreak happens. And that would kinda be meta, if you ask me... which would automatically make it against the rules and AHelp material. Also, this concern is just a repost of concern #2, worded differently. 5. You can already do that, albeit with a lot of dedication. (Telepathy, beneficial chemical synthesis, and adrenaline extra). With TG virology,it is too easy to make viruses that remove the need to breathe, convert all of the damage you take to toxin, purge that toxin damage, and produce antibodies for all other diseases. Viruses should not be too beneficial or sources of super powers. I think the beneficial symptoms you can get with BayViro are enough. Stage One has no beneficial symptoms. Stage Two has Adrenaline Extra, but that can kill someone with an OD. Stage Three has Telepathy (the only "beneficial" symptom on this list) and Chemical Synthesis, which can kill as easily as it can be good. Stage Four has no beneficial symptoms. I'm not saying give Viro the power to make stuff that's unbelievable, like TG has. Things like DNA Hardening to make it more difficult for viruses to infect, a modified Weight Even, so your body burns excess fat and you don't get stuck with that stupid grey burger on the side of your screen because you accidentally took one bite more than you needed to, Toxic Filter for people who work with toxins in their job to keep them from getting killed because a chucklefuck accidentally/purposely loosed phoron into the air in the tiniest amount, or the Engineer went into the SM Core without their suit on to make an emergency coolant flush. Simple things. Things that are 'believable', yet still pushing that sci-fi boundary into what's possible.
  4. Actually, it would make some kinda memey sense for the librarian to have the sway over the wizard. Being the book nerds they are, the librarian could research into tabletop games, myth and other lore to figure out the kind of wizard the crew is dealing with, what their powers and artefacts do, and how to stop thwm, should they become a threat.
  5. The Janiborg is lacking a few essential tools. Namely: A Sign Layer (for wet floors) A mousetrap deployer (for dem pesky mooses) A Mopbucket Train (so it doesn't have to steal the Janitor's) Essential SpaceCleaner Running over a mess as the janiborg is too easy. The bristles shouldn't be cleaning up everything. Dirt/dust? Yes. Oil spills, blood pools? Not really. Actually having to do the cleaning work would make the job a bit more enjoyable overall.
  6. Reporting Personnel: Marrison, Rachael Rank of Reporting Personnel: Chief Engineer Game ID: bErTWf Personnel Involved: Jyllian, Derek - Warden - RUBY - Station AI - Aquila - Station Engineer - Zander Moon, Station Administrator/Captain Time of Incident:1900 est. Real time: 0150 est Location of Incident: NSS Exodus (General) Nature of Incident: []Workplace Hazard []Accident/Injury []Destruction of Property [X]Neglect of Duty []Harassment []Assault [X]Misconduct X[]Other Failure to Follow a Direct Order, Refusing to Follow Direct Order Overview of the Incident: Warden failed to report to the Chief Engineer's office upon direct order for questioning as to why they were harassing the Engineer Aquila. Did you report it to a Head of Department or IAA? If so, who?: No IAA Available Actions taken:Captain Zander Moon ordered the Warden to report, to which Jyllian then did. Additional notes: As a ranking Chief of Staff, failure to follow a direct order not overstepping into another department's chain of command, is misconduct at best, dereliction of duty at worst.
  7. You're going to (by proxy of stating the Prime Directive) call me a dick because something was executed that you couldn't handle? Look, I'm willing to be reasonable about this. It happened. It's over. I explained what happened. I ended up getting screwed over by it anyway, because my Capacitor ran down, and I had no way of defending myself. To top that off, I never once ordered any of the crew to be killed. Here's the list of what I -did- order, or authorized the borgs to do. 1. Welderbomb various locations. 2. Steal Sec's EMP Weapons. 3. Blow up the O2 tanks in Mining. 4. Move me to TComms. 5. Perform destructive acts around the edges of the station to make it look like an outside attack. 6. Blow lights in random locations (I ended up doing that myself while hacking the APC's) 7. Take the QM hostage. 8. Threaten (and follow through with) blowing the SM if people didn't evac to Departures. I never ordered anyone killed. I never attempted to kill anyone. I didn't fuck with Atmos. I only messed with the SM as a gimmicky last resort thing. I gave the crew plenty of warning BEFORE I blew the SM. There was no one near it when it went. I don't see what the problem is here, or why there's an issue here. I didn't ever use my omnipresence or omnipotence to do any real harm to anyone. I gave everyone a fair chance to have at me, once me and the Borgs went loud. Sec knew /EXACTLY/ where I was the entire time. Tell me again just how I broke the Prime Directive?
  8. To be fair, I didn't tell Snoop to hide me in the wall. The plan was to relocate me to TComm. That's as far as it was discussed. Next thing I see (after coming out of Cameras assisting crew with doors and whatnot) is my core in between walls, and Snoop asking if it was cool to wall me in. I said go for it, I didn't have a better hiding spot. I figure it's mainly a lack of communication between me and Snoop, which -is- in fact my fault as the AI player. But I'm all in favor of the hiding spot as despite all of it, I was still found and EMP'd. Even walls aren't fool-proof.
  9. I'll reply to some of these when my head isn't pounding out of my skull. x.x You make some valid points, but I have replies for some of them.
  10. YES. As a QM player, finding Cratey by total chance would be an amazing way to start out the round! XD
  11. I could totally work up sprite maps for some of these. I've got a decent bit of spare time these days.
  12. Spare wheelchairs, a crate of fire extinguishers, may a box with some of the toys from the machines in them? Either the mechs or the station action figures. Maybe the occasional hoverpod spawn. Personally, I'd combine the arrivals locker room, Primary, Secondary and Tool storage with Cargo too, as the QM would be in charge of that too. Distributing stock station jumpsuits, tools and generally accessible components like what's in the tool rooms still counts under Cargo's purview.... but that's another suggestion, another thread. Not sure what else to put in here as I'm not very familiar with the entire item list... but there's my two cents if it's worth anything.
  13. Lotta views. No commentary. What's goin' on here? You guys really dislike the idea that much?

While a viable and interesting suggestion, this should be in its own thread. It may pertain to the original suggestion, but one suggestion to a thread plz. :U If you 'do' post this though, I'll be all over it.
  15. I would agree with you, if Cargo QM's didn't require a Head of Staff signature on the requisition sheets. Most of them will ignore your request without it, and if you're on a round where there are no heads, or they just plain don't care, you're screwed without assistance from the other departments. Again: that's hoping that Xeno is competent enough to not already be dead by the time you run out, and that mining (if there are even miners) are getting you the materials you need... which they usually aren't.
  16. Is anyone else tired of the 'superbugs' hellbent on killing everyone? What ever happened to the common cold? The rhinovirus? The bubonic plague? TG had the Viro Department right, me thinks, though I gotta say I still love the current one. My main issues are the following: 1. All Viruses have to have 4 symptoms (duplicates included) 2. Each of these symptoms (besides waiting and that really rare one) get progressively worse, to the point where "Lel, ur ded." 3.There's no way to remove current symptoms, other than overwriting them with possibly worse ones. 4. Irradiating a virus can 'feasibly' result in producing all the current antigens for the round, but chances are, you're gonna be stuck producing mass quantities of the same three you start with unless someone orders you a virus crate. What I miss: 1. Being able to produce simple diseases. Things that just caused headache, coughing and sneezing without killing a person. 2. Being able to use 'food items' and powdered minerals to cure them. 3. Producing the most random and bizarre viruses ever. (Walking Dead, Jetpack Shits, Vomit Comet) 4. Producing a blend of potential medicines that could cure a disease/virus instead of just producing an 'antigen' based on a letter code. 5. Making 'beneficial viruses'. What should be kept: 1. The current machinery 2. The current processes for producing antibodies 3. The Virus Samples 4. Data disks, and the ability to engineer the viruses via the disks What needs to be added: 1.Viro ChemMaster Equivalent Machine (For separating your virus from the other pathogens you combined to create it) 2. Pathogen Storage Machine (can't remember the name of it, but it vends different cultures and viruses like the Nanomeds) 3. More symptoms, beneficial, lethal and non-lethal 4. Viruses that don't start with 4 symptoms 5. The ability to remove symptoms 6. Regular diseases Not quite sure how true to life current Viro is (though I daresay, I'm pretty sure it takes more than five minutes to produce a true antigen... /sarcasm), but I miss the fun parts of old Viro. Those were the things that could make an otherwise boring job totally enjoyable. As is, unless a round spawns the Level 4/5 outbreak at random, chances are a Viro is going to have absolutely nothing to do for most of the round. Once they produce their three antibodies, they can either sit there and irradiate their viruses and 'hope' that they'll get a new, viably producing strain, or fuck off around the station, eventually going to cryo because they're bored out of their skulls.
  17. I'm down for this, but 17 minutes is still not a whole lot. Perhaps find additional combinations with holy water and candles? Blessing things takes time and effort. You might be able to take the inert blade and make it something /more/.
  18. Blank armbands with the ability to input what they say on them, maybe? "This armband displays the text ' blah blah'" "This armband shows the logo [insert Narsie here]"
  19. Xeno only produces 10/5 on metal/plasteel per Metal Slime, so they're not much help anyway, especially if the Xeno is incompetent enough to die early round. Agreeing on this wholeheartedly. Reduce bot/borg/mech costs.
  20. After reading what I have, I'm in agreement with Nanako, here. The IAA are essentially redundant and without purpose when it comes to the CCIA.
  21. Okay... so apparently I was totally off on my idea of what IA actually was. Removed the current post as it now bears no relevance on the topic, after my learning experience. O3o
  22. Okay, so I recently started playing an IAA. Some of you already hate him. I'm a bit confused as to why half the forms pertaining to the IA division aren't valid anymore. "This receipt lists an error in the denoted record of the denoted employee of the NanoTrasen Civilian Branch. This receipt further denotes the fine for failure to adhere to records regulations. Additional fines may be levied should the erroneous records not be rectified." I was talked down to by a Chief Engineer, stating that there 'are no records regs'. Looking into it, I actually couldn't find any. So why does this form exist? We have two forms we can use reliably: IAA Audit IAA Staff Audit There's another two forms we can use semi-frequently: Situation Report (Was told that command is actually supposed to do these, but since the IAA is on the command channel, I don't get what the issue is) Incident Report (Sorta Same dealie as above) I used all four forms, and then some, on my first round as IAA. (And good god was it a long one) Yet despite this, I'm constantly getting talked-back to IC by characters quoting or denying regs to the IAA. So... clarification needs to come up on this. Suggestions: Fix the Regs to add in the Records Regulation listed on the Records Error Reciept to allow IAA to fine people for not having their work history/education listed on their player text sheets List the Incident and Situation reports as IAA accessible Allow the Complaint Forms to be sent IC without having to wait for EoR to post to the forum, else remove the Complaint Forms altogether.
  23. If a drone sits around and does nothing for more than a few minutes, people tend to try and make them hats anyway, or send the console self-destruct because they think the player has abandoned the drone. Else they'll chuck the drone at the nearest wall without regard to the player. Doing that can deactivate an already damaged drone entirely . . . thus the chucker has just ganked a drone player. You'll never hear about that though, because no one gives a damn, despite how often drones get thrown just because someone felt like it, using the excuse that 'they're in the way'.
  24. You filthy fun-hater. :U But yea. The only drone ping consoles are in Engineering, and since they go out to fix problems themselves, the Drones are left to find problems on their own to fix. No one ever pings drones, so the consoles might as well be useless. About the only thing they're good for is popping a rogue drone and sending it to the great scrapyard in the singularity. That's why the idea was put up in a previous thread to put ping requests in all the request consoles. Like I told JB however, that idea was either looked over or dropped because people just apparently hate everything to do with Drones. TL;DR - Everyone's a filthy fun-hater, just like you Dreamix. :U
  25. This was something that was brought up in a previous attempt that was either overlooked or not cared for enough to be enacted. The idea was to put a Drone Ping in every request console instead of just in Engineering. That way, if someone had need of a minor repair, they could ping a drone through their console. I think, IIRC, that it was put down because somehow, it was believed that it'd make the EngiBorgs totally useless, despite that being a completely ridiculous idea.
