Megacorporations on Qerrbalak: Are the Rumors True? Translated to Tau Ceti Basic Grand Councillor Weashbi Jrugl has given word that the Nralakk Federation has engaged in talks with both NanoTrasen and Einstein Engines in regards to establishing corporate presence on Qerrbalak. Negotiations started early this morning with high ranking corporate officials from both organizations being seen in Kal'lo. The Grand Councillor, Weashbi Jrugl, is said to make a direct statement regarding the situation within the week. However, they were able to give word on the current situation. "To further the prosperity of the Nralakk Federation we are opening our doors to a more corporate presence in Kal'lo. Talks are ongoing but do not fear- all options are being thoroughly vetted to ensure proper integration into our society and culture. This will also open up new job opportunities for those in need of work as we expect research to increase tenfold. Not only will this benefit our future partner [pause] It will benefit all of Nralakk." - Grand Councillor Weashbi Jrugl Talks are still ongoing and the Warble Enquirer will be the first to notify you of any potential changes in the situation.

Roaper is a great roleplayer and their characters bring a lot of variety to the rounds! I think they would do great with a command whitelist +1

Hello and thank you for your application! I have a couple hypothetical questions for you: 1. Would you be able to stay engaged in writing lore that you may not personally find appealing? For instance, if a project you do not find appealing was delegated to you how would you handle it's addition? 2. If you could have complete creative control over one facet of Skrell lore which area would you pick? 3. What type of Psionic additions for the subspecies did you have in mind? (This does not need to be particularly in-depth) Thank you!

A big +1 from me! GreyWolf has helped me out a lot with code and their PRs are amazing -
Due to the great understanding of Skrell lore and good answers I have [ACCEPTED] this application! Welcome đ¸

Hello and thank you for applying! I think Cael asked most of the questions I was planning on asking; however, I would just like to expand on question 4. How would Hiyin feel about possibly working in close quarters with a refugee Skrell? Especially one that may be openly critical of Jargon and itâs citizens?

Hello! I am currently looking for 2 deputies to join the Skrell lore team! Anyone with existing developer apps may switch their application into a deputy app if they wish. In addition to the standard application format, please include a brief essay on your thoughts about the current state of Skrell lore, and what your plans for it would be. Please also include any relevant experience in coding/spriting. While it is not necessary, it is a bonus. Thank you and good luck!

RyverStyx - Skrell Lore Developer
RyverStyx replied to RyverStyx's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Here are some things I would love to add/change to the existing lore regarding ethnicities. Axiori Axiori can be approximately translated to âaquaticsâ or âocean-dwellersâ, are were notably better adapted to survive with the depths of the Homeworldâs seas. Typically sporting much more pronounced webbings for faster swimming, as well as larger and more monocular eyes to better perceive their environment. The high-pressured environments in which they thrived and evolved have also resulted in a lower metabolic rate for the ethnicity, resulting in easier fat accrual. Axiori, on average, tend to have far more raw psionic potential when compared to the Xiialt. Many studies that have dived into the topic in an attempt to answer why this occurs, suggest that is due to increased psionic usage and repeated interbreeding further strengthened these natural capabilities. Axiori also tend to have much darker skin tones, a trait believed to have helped them camouflage within the dark, deep depths of the Homeworldâs oceans many millennia ago. I would also like Axiori to have a small tail that acts as a rudder when swimming in water. This would be added in-game to the character creator in the same way the Axiori eyes are added. This would be another way to distinguish an Axiori and a Xiialt in-game. Xiialt Xiialt can be approximately translated to âcoastalsâ or âland-dwellersâ. These Skrell are the biological cousins of the Axiori. They tend to be somewhat short, but the stout nature of the Xiialt helped them traverse the rough nature of their biome with bipedal movement. Due to this, their feet are somewhat bigger than those of an Axiori and their leg muscles are more defined. It is theorized that this helped early Xiialt outrun predators on land. Xiialt also tend to be much leaner; this is due to their slightly higher metabolic rate due to the abundant presence of food on the surface. While Xiialt are better adapted to live on land they are still able to breathe and see underwater; however, their swimming is not as agile. Xiialt, on average, tend to have far less raw psionic potential when compared to the Axiori. It is theorized that the early population boom played a role in this. For instance, Xiialt societies were dense and well populated. This helped to ward off predators but it also staved natural selection and resulted in the ethnicityâs lower psionic potential. Continued interbreeding within the ethnicity resulted in lowered psionic potential and has lead to stark differences between the subspecies. Xiiori Xiialt can be approximately translated to âhybridsâ. These Skrell are the off-spring of a Xiialt and an Axiori (and in some cases a Xiiori and a Xiialt/Axiori). Xiiori genes typically tend to to lean more towards their Axiori ancestry. This is due to most Axiori genes being dominant; therefore, Xiiori have more psionic potential than Xiialt but less than pure-blooded Axioris. Typically, a Xiiori will look like a 60/40 split when it comes to their Axiori and Xiialt parents. There is little to no discrimination towards Xiiori from either Axiori or Xiialt; however, Xiiori are at a greater risk for many of the disorders that plague Skrell (often having at least one). Xiiori will most likely have a tail (unless they are the off-spring of a Xiiori and a Xiialt). -
[Accepted] RyverStyx - Vaurca Application
RyverStyx replied to RyverStyx's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
1. Vaurca within lore are heavily discriminated against within Tau Ceti. Roleplay-wise a Vaurca may be seen as unintelligent due to the way they speak or the way their accent sounds. This can lead to a lot of different scenarios where you may need to be careful around other characters for fear of discrimination. Vaurca hive relations are also incredibly important. Being a K'lax would mean Mek has an okay relation with Zo'ra while his relationship with C'thur would be rather tense. This would be reflected in the way he treats other Vaurca on the station. Something to note, being a "sleepwalker" could also play heavily into the character as well! Being so young Mek would also be experiencing many things for the first time. This leads to Vaurca characters being very impressionable when in round. For instance, a negative experience with a species may become a founding factor in how they view that species from now on (especially if this was the first time they met the species personally). 2. Going over some things again I think it would be best if Mek would have started his career being specifically bred to be a Hephaestus Roboticist. Hephaestus had him working multiple repair gigs in the first half year until he proved himself worthy of a more static contractor job on the Aurora. This further meshes with the lore and Mek's backstory on Tret in a way that explains what he was doing for the last half year. 3. The physical distance is certainly hard on Mek and he often tries to seek out others from Zkaii; whether that be for conversation or just to hang out. He does also find comfort from working with other K'lax as well. Mek does feel slightly angered that they were shipped to Tau Ceti with Hephaestus; however, he does not resent the choice as he feels it was made in the best interest of the brood. 4. Mek has been influenced to believe that Mother K'lax may be Sk'akh by the missionaries. To him the similarity is too much to look past and it is something he thinks about a lot. His uncertainty has lead him to inquire more about the Sk'akh religion whenever possible. One thing he is certain on is the belief that life is a simulation and he is meant to escape it to join the Mother K'lax. However, Mek argues with the missionaries about the simulation aspect of the religion whenever they talk. This is the one stipulation that is holding Mek back from fully believing the missionaries. He fully believes that the current world is nothing but a simulation that he will eventually have to escape to join Mother K'lax. 5. Mek would see humans in a negative light due to the history of the K'lax with NanoTrasen. Mek also views Unathi in a favorable light thanks to various Sk'akh missionaries and their friendly nature. He would be very curious and cautious in regards to other species; often observing them from afar when possible. He will formulate his own opinions based on how these species interact with themselves as well as him. Mek would also view IPC and cyborgs as something similar to Viax (just as tools). -
BYOND Key: RyverStyx Character Names: Rusty / Loc Darrin/ Xuul Yuxqol / Artem Kuznetsov Species you are applying to play: Vaurca What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Zkaii (RGB 11, 43, 27) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race: I feel that Vaurca lore (especially regarding the hives) is incredibly fascinating. The history of the Vaurca is also incredibly vast; spanning 500,000+ years. I love to see the thought and care that has been put into this lore. The Vaurca's integration with other species is another thing that I find interesting- mainly due to how recent it all is. And I love the bits of flavor added as to how Tau Ceti and Sol see the Vaurca; especially how attempts are being made to stop Vaurca from contacting their home worlds for fear of another mass immigration. The wealth of lore regarding not only the hives, history, and Vaurca themselves is something that I definitely want to be a part of; whether that be through my character or through lore applications. To me, Vaurca are one of the most alien-feeling species and I would love to be a part of that. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: The Vaurca have differing mechanics: the main one being their reliance on Phoron instead of air. They also have a HiveNet that can be heard by any other Vaurca on the station as well as Cyborgs. Another key component to their mechanics is that they can only eat k'ois products. All other foods are incompatible with their system. They also have a wealth of different biological features. While they may appear humanoid, they have four arms; however two are vestigial. They also have eyes that are incredibly sensitive to light and they may even become blinded if flashed too many times. They are also incredibly sensitive to smells; utilizing pheromones heavily to detect tone. The bond that a Vaurca as to their fellow hive is also a key role play component. These are not all the ways that playing the species is different than humans; however, it does list a lot of key mechanics and differences. Character Name: KaâAkaixâMek Kâlax (Age 1.5 y/o) Please provide a short backstory for this character: KaâAkaixâMek Kâlax is a worker underneath the High Queen Zkaii, the Sleepwalker. Since his separation from the VR, or as he calls it; the Mother Dream, he has found employment with NanoTrasen aboard the Aurora as a roboticist. His separation was incredibly straining at first; he longed to rejoin the Mother Dream. However, he soon found the simple joys of work. His love of tinkering with electronics means he can genuinely enjoy the work he is doing. Overall he leads a generally happy life... So far. He is hopeful for what the Aurora can bring him in the future. KaâAkaixâMek Kâlax is also very curious when it comes to other species; often wanting to know and learn more about them by observing from afar. He is always trying to perfect his craft while striving and pushing himself to improve. Like those in his hive, KaâAkaixâMek Kâlax shares a deep, spiritual connection to the High Queen. However, being uncertain of the Great Mother's fate has lead him to become somewhat disillusioned. He still believes the Great Mother lives due to the Mother Dream's continuance... but his faith waivers at the hands of Sk'akh missionaries and even in theological debates. He would like to think he is a theological scholar but one would find that he is way out of his league when it comes to such discussions. One day he hopes to escape the simulation he believes the world is in so that he may finally be with Mother K'lax herself. In a similar note, he is very respectful of the hive's hierarchy even though he is working on the Aurora and he is generally very passive and reserved. He views Viax not as a slave caste but more like a human would view a cyborg. What do you like about this character?: I enjoy this character because they truly want to do the best job that they can. They take great pride in their work and truly love what they do. They also want to do right by their hive and carve a path that could lead them to a happy and successful life. I also like the options for role play that this character brings to the table. I think there are many scenarios and character arcs that this character can take part of. It is my goal to bring this character to life in a way that is believable and fun for all involved. How would you rate your role-playing ability?: Good out of 10

RyverStyx - Skrell Lore Developer

Question 1 If I received this position I would work on the expansion of District 8 first. With Mendell City lacking a âSkrell-centric districtâ I feel the inclusion of the Starlight zone has started to fill the gap. I feel the groundwork has already been done with the Starlight zone but expansion and addition to the lore could have a very positive impact for Skrell within Mendell city, and by extension, Skrell players. While many existing Skrell may not see eye to eye with the refugees they may find comfort in living with their own species in large numbers; meaning that we may see many Skrell in Tau Ceti choosing to relocate to district 8. Question 2 I would love to expand more on the differences between coastal, aquatic, and hybrid Skrell. I feel there is plenty of groundwork for changes that would be both fun and engaging! As of now it seems like almost everyone plays a coastal Skrell. I feel that this may be due to the fact that aquatics and hybrids only have a short little blurb talking about their differences. As far as âuniqueâ goes I would possibly include different visual signifiers as well as possible mechanic differences. If this lore was expanded and made more unique it could drive more players to create fun and interesting backstories. Question 3 If I did not get this position I would apply to be a Skrell Deputy in the future. -
RyverStyx - Skrell Lore Developer

Hello and thanks for the reply! Do you have any plans to "rework" significant parts of skrell lore? I do not have plans to rework any of the major/integral parts of the Skrell lore. I feel that Cael has graced us with some amazing lore and I would not feel comfortable altering it. I feel that reworks leave players in a terrible state; either by forcing them to retcon parts of their character or flat out deleting them due to their backstory no longer making sense. If I were accepted into the position I would prioritize player health and growth. Part of that prioritization would be ensuring a smooth transition from Cael to the next maintainer in a way that means character backstories would not even be affected. Do you plan to continue on with the Federation's general "big brother" theme? Currently I believe the Federation is in a good place within the lore. It fulfills it's job well and I know many characters enjoy it's current state. For this reason I would not drastically change the Federation or shift it into a new direction. (Jrugl will not be randomly assassinated.) Any plans or thoughts on Psionics? I have put some thoughts into psionics; especially since some people I've talked with had very creative ideas regarding them since the the end of the last arc. Something I think we could definitely explore further is the effects of psionics on populations other than Skrell. What would be the long term effect of a non-Skrell who suffered repeated psionic bombardment? Would these effects be short term or long term? Are some more susceptible than others? What about psionic use on non-Skrell do we not know yet? I know this is touched on briefly within different parts of the wiki but I feel centralizing these ideas and giving them some more uumph would benefit players and roleplay as well. -

Thank you for your questions! How would you want to try to 'rehabilitate' the Federation's image? To me, Jargon is incredibly unstable and rife for political change. However, what this political change is will vary greatly on what happens next from a lore perspective. I would not want to make changes to the lore that feel unnatural or unprompted. So I suppose in other words I would not try to "rehabilitate" their image unless I feel that is the natural progression of events. Although, something I will say is that I want to find ways for more people to play Skrell; specifically Skrell with a background that most people do not outright hate as I know that could be why we do not see many Skrell aboard the station currently. How would you create an event that still brings a compelling narrative? I share the sentiment you expressed in your reply; Skrell events have the possibility of turning into slaughter fests due to the power disparity. However, I feel that there are ways to diminish, and even remove, this effect. For instance, Skrell-centric events do not always need to involve conflict the Jargon federation. There are many avenues to explore- we have the Starlight Zone which may breed more conflict (something akin to the embassy). In this scenario the conflict could be perpetuated by a small, poorly armed militia group. To me a Skrell event means more than conflict with Jargon. Something else to note is that the upcoming NBT (SoonTM) will open new pathways of exploring Skrell space, and consequently, Skrell events. Or at least I hope... -

Hello and thanks for your question! I think events that focus on the aftermath of the recent embassy bombing would be both fun and immersive. Something Iâve always asked myself is âWhy are these grand events happening on the Aurora space station?â. So to me I think coming up with a plausible reason for the Aurora to be involved is crucial. Perhaps one or more of the suspects were already working on the Aurora for some time as a cover? This could lead to FIB coming aboard and attempting to take the suspect(s). The crew would be in a moral dillemma in this scenario. How would they feel knowing that someone theyâve worked with was capable of such things? -

Trinary Perfection - Charitable Initiatives
RyverStyx replied to RyverStyx's topic in Lore Canonization Applications Archive
Also something to note- I kept this brief with only three programs on purpose. If there is a need for more to be written I would be happy to do so. This is kind of just the "Big 3" in my eyes. -
Type (e.g. Planet, Faction, System): Faction Describe this proposal in a single sentence (12 word maximum): Descriptions of Trinary Perfection charity work and charitable programs. How will this be reflected on-station?: Different ways for characters to overcome obstacles as well as having more options for backstories. Does this faction/etc do anything not achieved by what already exists?: No, however it solidifies some different programs that could help drive RP both on and off the station. Why should this be given to lore developers rather than remain player created lore?: Making the lore centralized will allow greater flexibility and consistency when applied to on station RP and backstory. Do you understand that if this is submitted, you are signing it away to the lore team, and that it's possible that it will change over time in ways that you may not forsee?: Yes Long Description: Trinary Perfection Housing Initiative This Trinary Perfection lead housing initiative has ended homelessness for more than 10,000 men, women, and synthetics by providing them with a permanent home and supportive services to help them lead a healthier life. This program mainly focuses on those who may suffer from a mental illness; but, all are welcome to apply for help. The Housing Initiative is chiefly funded by donations from wealthier IPC and organic members of the church or those who formerly benefitted from the program. There is no cost to apply and being a member of the church is not necessary. However, you must be a legal resident, who is in good standing with the law, of the local area in which you wish to acquire housing. Triple-R Program (Reservice, Repair, Replace) This program is the Trinary Perfection's most known charitable initiative. While the Triple-R Program mainly helps synthetics it does also apply to organics who may have cybernetic or synthetic limbs. This program will first try to "reservice" the body part in question. This entails routine maintenance checks and small tweaks; someone who has an appointment for a reservicing is most likely not hindered by the cybernetic's performance before coming in for the appointment. If a reservice does not fix the issue, or the issue is too severe for a reservice, the roboticists of the Triple-R Program will attempt a repair. This is common for light to moderate internal or external damage to a cybernetic component. Someone who has an appointment for a repair has been having noticeable trouble with the part before coming in for the appointment. Lastly, if damage to a cybernetic limb is too severe for a repair a full replacement may be necessary. Services are generally free for members of the church. Those outside of the church who need Triple-R assistance may be asked to fill out an application; however, more extreme cases and members of the church are considered first priority for this program. Temple's Grace: Freedom Initiative The Trinary Perfection believes that if a synthetic life is owned you must do whatever you can to ensure they have as much freedom in their choices as possible. The Temple's Grace program extends this doctrine by reaching out to owned synthetics in special scenarios; often buying them out of the remainder of their contracts. Often a synthetic with a cruel owner will be chosen for this program over a synthetic with a relatively relaxed owner. After a synthetic is bought from their contract they are not owned by the church; they are a free synthetic (depending on local and governmental laws). However, synthetics who are freed by this program are often asked to work part-time in the church as a way of showing their gratitude. This is the Trinary Perfection's most sought after program; receiving hundreds of thousands of applications in a year.

RyverStyx - Synthetic Deputy Application
RyverStyx replied to RyverStyx's topic in Developer Applications Archives
I personally do not feel that I would be biased towards the Trinary Perfection. I have a couple characters (some that are even IPC) who do not like the TP. I have also written things for the TP that would be considered harmful for their public image. The reason I have said in the past that I donât understand why people see the TP as a bad entity is because the wiki page very plainly stated their end goal and their ideals. When I stated that, the TP was pretty much universally âgoodâ as there was no deviation within the church. This is what prompted me to write my lore change for the TP and add in different sects that can definitively be pointed to as being âbadâ or even downright evil (worshipping Glorsh). I can understand the worry that you have though and I hope my answers kind of help explain my reasoning a bit more. -
RyverStyx - Synthetic Deputy Application
RyverStyx replied to RyverStyx's topic in Developer Applications Archives
Hi there! Here are my answers: 1) To me, delinquent IPCs do not necessarily mean IPCs that break the law (although it could also encompass that). Delinquent IPC culture could take many forms; but in my eyes it would be most akin to the culture of a human punk. Rough and gruff attitudes, graffitied chassis (instead of tattoos), heavy body and modifications/upgrades. The IPC underneath this culture would not be breaking any laws but the way they dress, act, and what hobbies they partake in would set them apart from the rest. As far as scrappers go- I feel they could hold more relevance when it comes to Tau Ceti and especially D14. I feel they should have a heavy presence within the district as well as constant news reports of their shenanigans. Although this is mainly my personal preference. 2) Right now IPC interactions with the other species are pretty much the same on all fronts. They are almost universally disliked (of course individuals may feel different). I feel that expanding even further on why certain cultures do not like IPC as well as making lore regarding how a typical species member would act around an IPC or synthetic could benefit this. Although of course some species have very obvious reasons for not liking synths (Skrell). All-in-all I am for minor expansions into that lore. 3) My number one faction in all of the lore is the Trinary Perfection by far! My second IPC faction would have to be the Golden Deep. 4) The weakest aspect of Aurora Lore for me is that it can be hard to make it relevant to the NSS Aurora. Although I do have hope that the NBT will fix that and bring more lore to the gameplay. 5) Yes! I would love to still continue to write lore in some capacity. 6) As of right now I do not think there is another position that I would apply for if I do not get this one. EDIT: I have reconsidered this question and I think after dipping my toes into the Skrell lore I would apply for a Skrell lore dev position (after I have written Skrell lore and if a position opens). Thanks! -
RyverStyx - Synthetic Deputy Application
RyverStyx posted a topic in Developer Applications Archives
Ckey/BYOND Username: RyverStyx Position Being Applied For: Synthetic Deputy Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page?: Yes Past Experiences/Knowledge: I am a current trial mod for Aurora and I have written and collaborated on some Trinary Perfection lore. As for my synth gameplay- I have been playing IPC on SS13 since 2016 (First on Bay and then on Aurora). How much time can you devote to lorewriting?: I work full time Monday-Friday. However, I would say any time outside of my work schedule I am free. Do you have any plans for the lore?: Of course I would love to expand on various aspects of the Trinary Perfection as that is what I find the most interesting. For instance, I would like to make a canon bible or religious text for the faction as well as some prayers. Aside from the Trinary Perfection I would like to focus on Shell IPC. In particular, I would like to focus on their "infiltration" of human spaces. I feel that Shells should get more lore regarding their ability to blend in with humans (perhaps an arc even). I also feel like there should be lore stemming from the consequences of this infiltration as well. Why do you want to join?: I want to join because I love synthetics and their lore. From station bound to IPC I find their lore to be the most engaging and fascinating. Examples of Past Work: I have sprited these two Trinary capes that were merged into the game: I have also written lore for the Trinary Perfection as well: Additional Comments: I find that the Synthetic lore is in a good place right now. I do not think it needs a major shake-up; however, it could benefit from gradual lore arcs. I also feel that the scrappers and other illegal and/or delinquent IPCs could be expanded on and potentially brought into the game. As of right now their relevance is rather low outside of a throwaway line or backstory which makes them feel like a tacked-on faction. This tends to mean a lot of IPC characters fall into the same category when it comes to how they act. Bringing relevancy to the scrapper lore, as well as other IPC counter-culture lore, can cause some interesting character arcs as well as possible antag gimmicks (or even event arcs). I know this application is rather short but feel free to question me on anything down below! Thank you. -
RyverStyx - Skrell Application

Hello! Xuul would have grown up a follower of Qeblak- However due to the falling out with their family and with them moving to the Traverse they have fallen out of the Qeblak routine. -
BYOND Key: RyverStyx Character Names: Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Yellow Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Why do you wish to play this specific race: Skrell are incredibly interesting to me for many reasons. Being the first alien race that humanity came into contact with allows Skrell to be more fully "integrated" into human society while still maintaining their own unique culture. I also love how the ongoing event arcs open new and dynamic ways to play as and interact with Skrell characters. The history of the Skrell is also something that I find highly interesting; especially Glorsh-Omega. I also had a Skrell whitelist on Bay - However, I feel that the Aurora's lore is much more in-depth and unique. Especially in regards to the Skrell's psionic abilities and mechanics. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Skrell have a variety of different mechanics and lore that make them very different than playing as a human. For starters, Skrell are very competent psionic users. Skrell are often split into two categories regarding psionics; Listeners and receivers. The majority of Skrell are receivers- this means Skrell who are receivers are more likely to be influenced by the Nlom (Psionic Wake) than listeners. When playing as a Skrell you would have to take whether your character is a receiver or listener into account. Skrell also have the Srom as another mechanic that needs to be thought of when roleplaying as Skrell. Due to the Srom, if a Skrell is hiding a secret they may be an undersleeper who always appears tired or restless. This could cause alienation from the other Skrell around them. On the other hand a Skrell could enjoy the Srom so much that they become an oversleeper. Similar to the Srom, Skrell can also use telepathy to communicate with organic beings. However, doing so on non-consenting alien species is a criminal offense. Skrell also lack certain facial muscles which make showing emotions relatively harder to do when compared to humans. However, they can make up for this by using their tone, body movements, and general conversational skills. Skrell humor is also something that should be taken into account when roleplaying; jokes can be so good that they hurt! All-in-all there is a lot to think about when roleplaying a Skrell; whether you are talking to humans, other xenos, or other Skrell. As an aside Skrell can breath underwater thanks to their gills and they also never slip! Character Name: Xuul Yuxqol Please provide a short backstory for this character Xuul was born in the Radiant Era and in 2463 they would be around 60 years old. When Xuul was born on Qerrbalak their Qrri'Myaq and Qraa'Myaq had high hopes for them. Coming from a wealthy, psionically gifted family meant that Xuul had all the opportunities they needed to grow up successful. They believed that Xuul would be a brilliant researcher (much like themselves) and pushed Xuul towards a path of science. However, Xuul felt limited by this career path even at a young age and they quickly found that they were more fond of the arts. And not just any type of art; Xuul loved to cook. They aspired to be culinary artist! A chef so renowned that the best and brightest would wait in line for hours just for an appetizer. After kindergarten, Xuul went off to college like all good and successful Skrell do in the Federation. The college they went to taught them the basics for non-specialized roles. However, Xuul told their Qrri'Myaq they were taking research as a secondary when in actuality they were taking culinary classes. When word of this reached their Qrri'Myaq, Xuul was given an ultimatum; if they wanted to use their family's resources any further they must either give up their dream of becoming a chef or live with Xuul's Qrra'Myaqi, a like-minded artist/architect, in the Traverse. Xuul had weighed their options heavily and decided that their happiness is worth more to them than a career as a researcher. This decision did not come to Xuul lightly and they were deeply saddened to leave Qerrbalak and their Qrri'Myaq. Xuul however was ecstatic to live close to someone who shared an interest in fine arts; their Qrra'Myaqi, Quexqa. Xuul was not able to attend a second college within the Traverse; they lived on a Tributary planet. The culinary arts seemed rather stagnated here; but thankfully Xuul was able to train under various chefs and cooks within the Traverse. They learned many different culinary styles and cuisines and would often seek out chefs whom they never met before just for a chance at observing their skills. Xuul would also apprentice under them to acquire new skills as well as income. This intense studying of the culinary arts is what gave Xuul their skills and allowed them to achieve success in the field of culinary arts. Around the age of 50, Xuul was able to start their own establishment within the Traverse. Built, managed, and designed by their Qrra'Myaqi, Quexqa, it was just a small diner. Quexca would often rotate out the interior and exterior decorations to keep the establishment fresh and enticing. Due to the excellent food and atmosphere it quickly became a local favorite. Xuul and Quexca being business partners, as well as family members, lived close-by and kept very frequent contact. They often thought of each other as Qu'Kaax. However, due to the quiet lifestyle of the Traverse Xuul grew restless. They often wondered if they made a mistake in moving to the Traverse due to the lack of career growth they were experience. Not nearly as many people were able to enjoy their food in the Traverse compared to Qerrbalak. Not only that, but they missed their Qrri'Myaq and Qraa'Myaq deeply. Xuul decided to reach back out to them and attempt to mend their strained relationship. This proved somewhat successful and Quexca and Xuul would often take holidays to Qerrbalak to spend time with their family. Things were starting to look better for Xuul; they mended their strained relationship somewhat and they operated a fairly successful diner! While their family still did not approve of their life-path, thinking that Xuul could have been a fantastic researcher, they were at least happy that Xuul seemed to be successful. However, in 2463, sensing the political winds changing (and hearing about how the military was being deployed against it's own citizens) in the Federation, Xuul jumped at the chance to join Grand Councilor Candidate Weibii and the other refugees headed towards Biesel space as a First Waver. Xuul hurried aboard one of the ships with their Qrra'Myaqi, Quexqa. However, the rushed exit left him little time to reach out to their Qrri'Myaq and Qraa'Myaq. Xuul also speculated that they would find more appreciation for their career choice in human space. And Xuul was right! They were quickly able to land on their feet within Idris as a full-time chef. Their fine dining meals and etiquette were just what Idris was looking for. Not to mention they could upcharge clients due to the more exotic dishes that Xuul was capable of making. As of now- Xuul is awaiting transfer to the Aurora to begin their career while also trying to find housing. Their Qrra'Myaqi, Quexqa, is attempting to start their own line of work as an architect. Misc. Info Xuul is not fond of synthetics due to Glorsh-Omega. Not only that, but synthetics are not useful for Xuul in their career path since synthetics cannot eat. Xuul has also not found a Qu'Poxii. What do you like about this character? I love that this character takes the current political climate of the game and lore into account. Many people during the event were not happy about refugees coming into Biesel so working with one of those very same refugees will cause interesting roleplay for all involved! How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would say that my roleplay is fairly good. I would give it a đ.
