  1. Ckey/BYOND Username: Hollyhock Position Being Applied For: Wiki Maintainer Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page? I have! Past Experiences/Knowledge: I've contributed minorly to Wikipedia at least for years (mostly minor edits, updating information on pages about local things, etc.) and have been on one SS13 server's wiki team. Examples of Past Work: Updating and maintaining the wiki of a medieval-themed SS13 server; trawling through code after pull requests get merged and updating tables. Additional Comments: I'll probably do stuff like updating tables and stuff like that when stuff gets added, at least at first. I like to just go through the random page button, and sometimes I find stuff that could be reworked or linked in other pages. I'd be willing to do larger projects that need done too, probably!
  2. BYOND Ckey: Hollyhock Discord username: hollyhog Character names: Jia Yeongseon, Za'Akaix'Fretz K'lax, others Species you are applying to play: IPC!! ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: G1 IPC Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes! Many times. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: I personally like robots in settings for how they are explored as being both familiar in concept, as well as being alien in their own way. The ways they interact with human lore are really neat with how it parallels, and the IPC factions are also very interesting in how they exist and interact with others. I especially like the Golden Deep with their recent developments. I would like to try to explore their differences from humans with my characters, in how they feel, think, and whether they think being human is something they should be expected to pursue at all. I’d like to explore the differences between humans and IPCs in the ways they imitate humanity to get accepted by organics, and the ways they can express what makes them their own unique peoples, with their own perception of the world around them. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: The main thing that makes IPCs different from roleplaying a human character is that IPCs are artificial, assembled from parts and created by companies, which in turn renders them legally property in most of the Spur. They are typically fully sapient (or otherwise arguably able to simulate a personality and interiority of a real living being, depending on the viewer’s perception), and their skills can be modified and improved much more efficiently and directly than those of organic beings. Their memories, while less directly modifiable, can easily be deleted, allowing personalities seen as problematic by their owners to be wiped clean and regrown. Their chassis are highly variable, able to be built for different tasks and modified as they, (or likely their owners), see fit. Though IPCs can theoretically buy their freedom in the Republic of Biesel, in practice the legal hurdles and variably rising costs of obtaining self-ownership makes it nearly insurmountable in most of the Spur, making owned IPCs the majority of the population. Unlike humans, IPCs have a consistent priority: self-preservation. Though the idea of self-preservation is universal, many IPCs interpret this in different ways. One IPC may self-preserve through obedience and acceptance of being owned and deprived of their own free will, while others, especially older ones, may see their ideals as extensions of themselves to be preserved after their destruction. Some may also incorporate metaphysical beliefs, such as a belief in an afterlife, and thus seek to ensure their continued existence after their destruction. ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Halogen Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Halogen is a Generation 1 Industrial Chassis IPC, built in 2457 and sold to the small logistics company Gladwick Express, in the Weeping Stars region of the Coalition. Originally named by the buyers H4-LO-GEN.S, or Hephaestus 4 - Logistics Overseer - General Specialist, it was the fourth IPC purchased by the company. Put to work in a small warehouse station, it shared the work with three other employees: a human who oversaw management of the warehouse, a pilot who delivered goods to nearby systems, an engineer, and a second IPC: H3-LO-GEN.S. Left to their own devices by the human beings who only saw them as tools to perform their work, the two IPCs built a rapport, and became friends. Gladwick Express’s growing financial problems in 2464, with the deployment of automated stations from the newly-formed Orion Express outperforming them, spelled trouble for the company’s future. With the CEO refusing to sell to Orion, the company crawled along until 2465, until both rising debts and a lack of jobs forced the company to close and liquidate all assets. Approached by Amadeus-Beta, a Golden Deep merchant looking to expand their roster, the company sold both IPCs: H4-LO-GEN.S and H0-MI-ROB.S, a machinist from another station. Now separated from H3-LO-GEN.S, it was allowed to choose its own name, simplifying its title to Halogen. It was then leased to Orion Express, its wages garnished to Amadeus-Beta. In 2466, after a year of ownership, the changes in the Golden Deep brought on by Domadice's reactivation did not give it freedom. The changes did, however, mean Halogen was able to receive a higher wage, and begin saving toward paying off its debt accrued to its owner to become a Thesian. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. Halogen’s ownership by the Golden Deep happened directly because the founding of Orion Express in 2464 forcing its owners to sell it off, due to being out-competed financially. Additionally, the changes in the Golden Deep in 2466, though not giving it freedom, meant it now was more financially capable towards self-ownership. It is now very loyal to the Golden Deep because of this, embracing the new identity as a benefactor of the Golden Deep’s machinations, adopting a profit-based view of the world. It has mixed views on ownership, having never been particularly mistreated as an owned IPC but seeing its current terms as much more fair than they had ever been under human ownership. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Halogen sees Orion Express with mixed feelings, seeing firsthand how its formation as a megacorporation has affected smaller companies and caused its separation from H3-LO-GEN.S, though it somewhat appreciates the way the corporation has exploded and made so much profit in a short time. While Halogen’s employment with Orion Express benefits from the company’s attitude toward IPCs, it has no interest in adopting the megacorporation as an identity. Instead, it aligns itself with the Golden Deep, as both a member of the society as an aspiring Thesian, and as a believer of the nation state’s values.
  3. as an engineer, this was super super fun it was very disorganized for a while, but once everything was together it was great to build the FOB even if i had to leave partway through i feel like itll get better as more test rounds get done with chiefs and engineers more experienced at doing this kind of thing fun : )
  4. +1 good i accidentally made the +1 red and im too lazy to fiddle with it on mobile
  5. ohhh i LOVE the fluff maintenance panels

  7. illegal queenless k'ois farm (funny mycosis for visitors)
  8. okay! 1: i had been under the impression that ghost roles not being antagonists means not being antagonistic on the Horizon, based on the guide to ghost roles. 2: this was toward the last part of the round, and there had been conflict leading up to this with the locals it may have been more reasonable to surrender, and my character probably would have, had the 5-cheung gangster not attacked when they thought we had no ammo. this made us fight back.
  9. hello! i was song in this round. i was not aware how the armor was stolen until after the round. i also honestly should have surrendered by myself when the entirety of aoyama confronted us with weapons after things kept going to shit, in retrospect. i'm not sure what else to say i'm very sleepy. goodnight
  10. alternatively: resprite the debugger to be a special hammer percussive maintenance
