  1. BYOND Ckey: Hollyhock Discord username: hollyhog Character names: Tsuchinoko, Jia Yeongseon Species you are applying to play: Skrell ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: Darkish green. Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Well yes! Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: Skrell are very cool; the Nralakk Federation is one of the more unique factions in our setting, and the skrell are unique it interesting ways it would be fun to play with. The way skrell are defined by psionics, both with how they communicate and with things like the Nlom influence their beliefs, are really cool. Skrell language is also very funny and I want to have a character with a funny name, but that’s only a little bit of a reason. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a human?: The most obvious factor in how skrell would think and act compared to a human is their lifespan. Living for well over twice a 2400’s human’s lifespan, skrell can afford to take a long-term approach to most things in life. Less outwardly obvious but arguably more integral to how skrell act is psionics; the Nlom fosters far stricter conformity in the majority receiver population than in human populations which, it could be argued, has contributed to the Nralakk Federation government’s communalism and focus on encouraging conformance. Skrell also rely heavily on psionics to communicate, both more obviously by sending telepathic messages to each other, and by broadcasting emotional or otherwise wordless concepts. Because of their reliance on psionics and their differences in outward emotional displays, skrell can find it difficult to communicate with less psionically-adept humans without extensive experience and study. (I can relate.) ------------------------------ Character Application Character Name: Sqiplo Uumox Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon. Sqiplo was hatched in the mid-2300s on the colony Aweji to a group of bureaucrats. Their early fascination with translated mystery novels imported from the Solarian Alliance, along with their Qrri’Myaq’s encouragement, eventually inspired them to attempt to join the Ruupkala. After two decades in Depth College, working tirelessly and even developing a fairly severe case of Psionic Undersleeping Disorder as they isolated, finding they had to work much harder than most of their peers. After achieving a degree in Criminal Forensics and a second in Anatomical Pathology, they entered the application process for the Ruupkala. They were then rejected. Though Sqiplo had developed a history of deductive and antisocial behaviors, they were completely blindsided by their rejection from the Ruupkala. In attempts to cope, their behaviors worsened, hiding from others and burying themself in distractions as their SCI crawled slowly downward, having dropped from a high Secondary to a low Secondary. Wanting to escape from the mounting shame on their shoulders, they looked to employment abroad as a way to, if not follow their dreams, at least follow something like their dreams. With two degrees, they were easily able to get a position with Necropolis Industries’ security division, fleeing from the perceived shame of their homeworld to consult for the corporation’s partners on Luna, investigating mostly white collar crimes and seeking out debtors. With the restructuring of the company to Zavodskoi Industries and their growing relationship supplementing the police forces of Mendell City, Sqiplo was reassigned as a forensics expert to the MCPD. They were often assigned to cases in the Starlight Zone as one of few skrell forensics experts able to enter the underwater areas of the district, though many cases simply went cold as they were stonewalled by locals and the neighborhood watches.. Always taking care to maintain a carefully-considered air of professionalism, Sqiplo took on a higher workload than most of their coworkers, spending as much time on the job as they could in an attempt to prove themself. As they buried themself in their work, they found themself uneasy; this was not the ideal future they had imagined in their head. Their shame over the Ruupkala pushed them to apply for reassignment to a position they felt could let them live up to their dreams. After five years of working on every case from murders to fjylozn poisonings, they were approved for a transfer: a position on the prestigious flagship of the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate. There, they would be important. There, they believed, they could make a difference, like they had wanted to in the Ruupkala. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character? Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. The scarcity, and the Solarian collapse, led to Sqiplo’s transfer from a cushy job in Luna to working in Mendell City, the epicenter of unrest and corporate abuse during the growing scarcity. In the rare times a case took them to the Starlight Zone, their treatment as an outsider compounded their feelings of inferiority from being a “Brown Dwarf”. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for? Sqiplo views Zavodskoi as an exceptional corporation and has built up an identity of corporate pride, partially replacing the pride they chased in their youth. They chose Zavodskoi partially for this reputation of professionalism they cultivate, especially compared to Idris Incorporated’s prolific use of synthetics in their investigation divisions. They viewed the brutal reputation of their fellow Zavodskoi employees assigned to the Mendell City Police with distaste, though they swallowed this mild disgust in order to conform. Even with their outward pride for their corporation, the will always view it as the second option, and think on what could have been.
  2. good! operations has a whole new major role on top of everything else so it makes sense to have more slots. i literally love running the commissary
  3. Tsuchinoko, Hangar Technician: A baseline with a green display reads a magazine, behind the counter of the ship's commissary. An analog radio next to it blares whatever scream-heavy song is being transmitted this far out. It looks like a slow shift. As the recording starts, it looks up from its book at whoever's recording. Eh? What's with the cam- ... The baseline sets down its reading material and turns down its radio, leaning in. Oh, okay. Well, I keep hearing, you know, someone talking about the Xar'qui systems over the radio when I can't catch the music station's signal. Something about Skrell jamming something? I feel like they might be friendly, right? So we should, you know, go toward them. Wherever that way is. As long as it's not more hivebots... Why are you asking me, anyway? Go bother, you know, an engineer. It goes back to reading, before the recording ends.
  4. ate a muffin

  5. The 'neural coherence' didn't seem to change at all when my brain was damaged in a recent round, just staying at "synchronised". I'm not sure if it's supposed to show fragmentation, but there should probably be some way to show brain damage or fragmentation if there isnt already? Also, I wasn't able to send or receive messages with my access cable. Nothing showed up when sending the message, for either me or the recipitent. My firewall was on but virtual communication was enabled, so I'm not sure what went wrong? I might need to test it again too

  11. Ckey/BYOND Username: Hollyhock Position Being Applied For: Wiki Maintainer Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page? I have! Past Experiences/Knowledge: I've contributed minorly to Wikipedia at least for years (mostly minor edits, updating information on pages about local things, etc.) and have been on one SS13 server's wiki team. Examples of Past Work: Updating and maintaining the wiki of a medieval-themed SS13 server; trawling through code after pull requests get merged and updating tables. Additional Comments: I'll probably do stuff like updating tables and stuff like that when stuff gets added, at least at first. I like to just go through the random page button, and sometimes I find stuff that could be reworked or linked in other pages. I'd be willing to do larger projects that need done too, probably!
