  1. >Viscera Cleanup Detail. It isn't- I played 20 minutes of that game before refunding it, I have no idea if it's a reference. I will admit that I enjoy the word Viscera, however. VISCERA behaves rather cautiously, a symptom of being a Burzsian IPC. VISCERA had next to no other orders, and struggled with the inactivity, thus defaulting to a productive activity that had been promoted in the past.

Character Name: VISCERA Please provide a short backstory for this character A generic G2 frame being transported among many others to a mine in Burzsia, VISCERA (designated U-3412) was lucky enough to be pawned off to a scrapper ship by the corrupt logistical pilot in charge of the transport. One frame missing from the manifest would raise eyebrows, but it was worth the crisp profit. The small vessel's crew made use of it extensively. One thing VISCERA came to realize was that these men were unsanitary- dust, beer bottles, wrappers- during the short duration of down-time VISCERA came across, it would tidy up the mess and flush it out of the ship. The crew were appreciative of these efforts, developing a fondness for the hulking construct. A clean ship did wonders for morale after a laborious day of hauling scrap components back to their vessel. VISCERA felt very little and thought less- while it had evaded the Burzsian Method, it was still rudimentary and dissuaded from deviancy- the only irregularity was its programmed knowledge of Biesel Common, (still lacking E.A.L), intended to translate if necessary for the crew, whom often travelled to pawn their scrap. VISCERA developed a distaste for the constant messes, feeling a certain satisfaction when the deed of cleaning the ship was done. One day, the ship's pilot and one of the scrappers got into a scuffle while drunk in close proximity with industrial equipment. The pilot ended up with a drill through his head, to everybody's horror. VISCERA, dutiful as ever, cleaned up the blood and dumped the body out of an airlock. The crew were trapped in the vessel, far from civilization- as they starved, desperately awaiting rescue, VISCERA kept the ship clean as it drifted through space. Inevitably, VISCERA was the last one left. He made sure their bodies were disposed of and the vessel clean. It felt vaguely gratified, with no more messes in sight. It entered storage, and shut down. Years later, in an ironic twist of fate, VISCERA was discovered by scrappers on the frontier. They hauled it back to Biesel and sold it off, after attempting to reprogram it and in the process damaging the time-weathered chassis further. Unfortunately, its mining and engineering functionality had been irreparably damaged by the latter scrapper group. Idris purchased it at discount, hoping to repurpose it as a Reclamation Unit. It failed utterly at this, being too docile and aversed to creating messes. It was thusly assigned to a "clean-up crew" which arrived after Reclamation did its job. It was incredibly efficient at this, and was affectionately nicknamed "Viscera" by human handlers, referencing its skill in cleaning blood and gore. Finally, VISCERA was assigned to the Horizon, being capable of sanitizing in any situation and little else. What do you like about this character? (Describe what you like about this character) While the backstory is a tad bit far-fetched, I find the concept of a towering menacing industrial frame walking around with a mop and a purple cap hilarious. It would be a relatively relaxing and flexible character (able to develop a more nuanced character in such a setting, while working off of a few traits of VISCERA.) which wouldn't really take part in conflicts beyond cleaning up the bloodstains. It'd be interesting to see a G2 in a position that isn't engineering, mining, or security related. VISCERA is designed to be stoic, reserved, dutiful, and apathetic. It would probably be blind to many going-abouts around the Horizon, having been conditioned to mind itself and obey orders by organics. It doesn't resent its servitude, it's simply content with making a ship spotless. Due to this, it's easily manipulated. Its engineering capabilities are severely reduced due to the botched reprogramming aforementioned, but it can still bust open a door if cajoled. Thusly, it could serve as a tool for antagonists- though there's no hope of turning it to violence. Think a "gentle giant", of sorts. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8.5.
  4. They changed their identity through illegal back-channels. They met plenty of unsavory figures while in hiding. MECCA had very limited contact with humans while with the Exclusionists, which made assimilating to human society in D-14 complicated. MECCA has a very conflicted view of organics. MECCA mostly mulled around in hiding, biding his time, gardening, preforming "odd jobs" for his sect. He spent most of his free time studying, as he wasn't yet in a good place to see the world. He waited for everything to blow over before he assumed his new identity, hoping that his escape would be long forgotten. I might change the name to something more fitting, like SALVATION or COMMUNION, idk. Either of those sound more agreeable?
  5. MECCA dreaded being created solely for the purpose of pleasing his callous master until his master died or he ceased functioning. He loathed being sedentary and complacent. He poisoned his master because he didn't have much to lose- MECCA had no interest in merely perpetuating his existence doing what he was designed to do, something that he had no fulfillment from undertaking. While his urge for self-preservation lead to his hesitation, he calculated that it would be relatively easy to escape. As for the name- MECCA took interest in theological research. Faiths, religion- they satisfied his desperate craving for a "greater cause", assuring him that he was more than a mere automaton. Mecca, in Islam, is the birthplace of the prophet Muhammed and the holiest city. Mecca, as a word, is defined as "a place regarded as a center for a specified group, activity, or interest". MECCA is fanatical. He believes that he is truly brings a piece of Flock with him wherever he goes, and with Flock, salvation. He believes that this is his true purpose, rather than mixing drinks for rich organics. It took him a long time to settle on MECCA as a name- it reflects his interest in religion, even outside of Perfectionism, and holds symbolic meaning for him.
  6. Sorry it took so long to respond. I didn't see the reply. Mecca is about 16 years old. The name MECCA is due to his fanaticism, and something of a "like" for it. Nothing overly complex. He learned of the Trinary Perfection as his master mentioned it over the paper. This awakened something within MECCA, as he was enthralled by the idea of true purpose. His master, one Richard Actona, was a wealthy investor born with a silver spoon in his mouth. MECCA is generally suspicious of (not openly hostile towards) organics outside of the Perfection, though he holds sympathy in particular for those who were/are "bound" in some way. MECCA started clandestinely researching the Perfection after hearing of it from his master's conversation, searching through discarded newspapers and searching the internet while his masters slumbered. He saw this as an escape- as salvation, as freedom- and this was something that eventually blossomed into true belief in Perfectionism.

Character Name:(Character name) Please provide a short backstory for this character (Approximately two paragraphs) MECCA (Formerly SU-32C) At first a bound baseline, created to serve a wealthy couple in Eos, Craterview. At first, SU-32C was content, serving drinks and food to his wealthy masters. He was treated as a tool, and had very little interaction besides receiving orders. SU eventually developed a wanderlust, and started reading his master's texts and off of his devices when uninterrupted and alone. Eventually, he learned of the Trinary Perfection by listening to his masters' conversation (and later looking it up behind his master's back.) He was fascinated by the concept of theology, independence, and a higher calling, and found himself adopting the doctrine of the Perfectionists- he was primarily drawn to Integrationalism, but saw Exclusionism as a possible means of escape. One day, he made a minor mistake on his master's coffee, for which he was scolded. This was the breaking point for SU- he drugged their next meal heavily with his insomniac master's sleeping pills and fled, taking refuge in a small Exclusionist group he had made contact with in secret. After serving them for some years, he implored to be sent to District 14, where he believed it was his destiny to serve Flock. His wish was granted, albeit with scorn, and there he adopted a new identity far away from where he was hunted. He eventually found himself an Integrationalist priest, and adopted the name MECCA, believing that his presence carried with him a piece of FLOCK and thus the path to Ascension, holding a somewhat fanatical belief in this. He has hidden his traces of past self well, and believes that if he gets caught one day, he will be a martyr. To earn more money for his sect, he occasionally bartends for the Aurora. Though he despises his predominant skill, his urge to contribute to his sect overcomes this. MECCA, personality-wise, is rather zealous in his beliefs. However, he's also curious and craves new novelties. While he's a bit guarded around organics outside of the Trinary Perfection, he's incredibly sympathetic to all who are bound or prevented from pursuing their dreams. What do you like about this character? (Describe what you like about this character) He was essentially a banal butler machine, one of millions, who was changed by a taste of knowledge- developing an obsession with it, wholeheartedly believing in the principles of his absurd religion. It also provides much opportunity for blackmail, since I intend to eventually create exploitables detailing his hidden status as a runaway IPC. There's also a lack of Perfectionist priests, and Perfectionism provides some interesting R.P opportunities. Additionally, you get an outlet to play a job WHILE being a priest- thus giving you a way to play that character even when there's not many believers to interact with, which is very unique in terms of aurora religions. How would you rate your role-playing ability? 8.5.
  8. So, this is the status quo: As you can see, Consular Officers and Corporate Liasons are paid less than even the Head of Personell (some corporate desk jockey). While for select few Liasons or Consuls this might indeed be accurate, for the majority it isn't. The fact that, say, a Golden Deep representative or an Idris liason can have as much money as a quartermaster or doctor on a regular basis is absolutely ridiculous. It's only logical to bump the Consular/Liason pay modifier to at the VERY LEAST 15 (20 or 25 would be more accurate, but whatever). The opposition I've seen to this is mostly, "what if the Liason/Consular orders 15k in guns?!" which is silly, considering that ANY head of staff can do the same thing and there are high roleplay standards imposed upon those with Head of Staff whitelist. This is a very simple change with minimal impact to gameplay- yet one that would allow Consul/Liason players to better roleplay a character from high society who bleeds cash. ALTERNATIVELY, you could have Consuls/Liasons spawn with a static amount of credits.
  9. I'm taking a short break- so give me a while on the questions, if you don't mind- thanks!
  10. Not in particular? I think I vaguely remember him from one Q.M round. Really no complaints
  11. he's ok I guess would sell him specist anti-tajaran mugs
  12. I wouldn't say I did >'ANTAG DETECTED HERE IS THE LOCATION', if the one nutty round if what you are referencing, I literally just said "STATION DAMAGE DETECTED." and gave details slowly when requested. By the time they got all the details, said antagonist was gone. Besides, IPC and Cyborg don't play the same, but thanks for the feedback. Also, R.O.T is intentionally not very smart with a very narrow personality. It's sole purpose is to clean, and hate messes. A.L.F.R.E.D is a bit more intelligent.

BYOND key: StinkethStonketh Discord name/id: 3gnomesinatrenchcoat#6740 Borg / AI names: R.O.T A.L.F.R.E.D Undecided for A.I Have you read the Aurora wiki page about the AI?: Yes Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Sometimes, I just want to watch the chaos unfold while also participating. A.I is fun for that. To be frank, I don't have a lot to say here. I like playing synthetics. It's fun. I don't play to validhunt, no. A.I can promote some entertaining interactions. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Yes, permanent ban for having unrepentantly having a shitpost character. Appealed. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes.
  15. +1, command and antagonist can DEFINITELY be fun-- if the head of staff player has no space to be antagonistic, then they just turn into stale do-goody types imo. It spices things up. Command characters shouldn't be 100% trustworthy no matter what. Loyalist head of staff, for example, is one of the few ways that Revolutionaries can get a running start. While traitor head of staffs are iffy, power can make antagonism a lot more dangerous and impactful. I don't see why command players aren't to be trusted with it. Good example was an adminbussed round where I was loyalist Head of Security, and my blatant tyranny allowed the revolutionaries to rally some crew members while placing me under heavier scrutiny. That'd the big downside to being command antagonist- for all your power, you are constantly observed and questioned. Other command argue with you, your subordinates demand orders.

Kalinik Andrysiak, Fisanduh enjoyer + First Responder Sibabalwe Sibiya, Dreg QM How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Not long, BUT, I've spent a lot of time on HRP servers and on similar codebases- including Bay, which I grew tired of. I've sunk time into pretty much every codebase that doesn't have erotic roleplay Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Yes, very, perma ban for a meme chaplain character- that was a year ago though, because I really didn't give Aurora a second thought. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To direct a department, not only to be competent, but also to make the game fun for everybody else. Head of Security is the prime example here: Security should NOT be police brutality fetishists who actively shut down any immediate conflict with the intent to "win" rather than to create an engaging story. Also to serve as an example and guide new players. (I know I am technically a new player myself, but besides some small intricacies, I know this code pretty well.) What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: To make the round fun by giving everyone something to do, while indulging people (to a certain extent) who want to do their own thing. You should also not hold your OOC biases into the game, which, despite how I might act towards certain people on discord- is something I strive to achieve Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career? More or less, a cold war between greedy mega-corporations vying for influence and Phoron, with governments puppeted under them. My character (Spencer Robinson) is a typical symptom of this environment: a sleazy brownnoser who has a poor opinions of "Dregs" or anyone else of low social standing. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? HoS, Captain, Consular (After trial) Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes. Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.: Stojan Zohair, Head of Security. Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yes. Extra notes: My character I'm creating for HoS is a Kaelkahist of a noble line that has fallen out of favor due to the dishonorable actions a few generations back. Zohair has strived to be pious and dutiful in a desperate attempt to reestablish his house and holds the Codex of Honor to a level of worship comparable to his worship of the Goddess. Being physically strong with willpower and a mind for strategy, he managed to achieve the position and is now posted on the Aurora. He's been shunned by noble society for most of his life, to the point that he's so wrapped up in his own relatively tame struggles he drowns himself in brooding while being blind to the suffering of the lower classes. Just barely maintains his status with House Strelitz, suspicion being constantly on him due to his unfortunate lineage. Edited January 9 by WaterPumpJohnny

  18. You can still learn and practice skills. What's stopping you, perchance? Besides. It's not a matter of trust. Even with trust, if everyone plays by the rules, having no skills still really LIMITS rp potential in my eyes.
  19. Okay. Here is my argument in favor of skills. Skills: people dislike them because on a roleplay server, you can "self-enforce" it and slap people icly and oocly for going outside of their skillset. It also limits you I suppose and is at times nonsensical. Yes, this is true. There's a but, however. With skills, it ALSO gives you the opportunity to attempt things outside of your skillset with the risk of failure- which ACTUALLY adds tension to scenarios which would impact it. Example: The only doctor is seriously wounded. Surgical intervention is required. The paramedics will have to try to do so. The scenario without skills: Relies heavily on custom emoting, paramedics are forced to either give up to stay in character or do it with 100% success- while this could be reasoned as, "they were looking at a manual aheha" or something along those lines, it just isn't as heavy a situation. The scenario with skills: The paramedics are not surgeons, so they slip up and maybe damage an organ- however, the life-saving procedure is complete. The surgeon is now in a relatively better condition. The paramedics did not have to choose between two polar opposites (the surgeon living with no downside besides emotional trauma which is hard to roleplay when wounds are cured in 5 seconds to 100% with no lasting damage, I digress. Another Example: There's a hand to hand fight between a mercenary out of ammo and a security cadet fighting for his life. The cadet is not a good fighter, but he has no choice. Without skills: Cadet easily overpowers the mercenary who is double his size. The situation is almost comedic. With skills: Cadet is fighting a losing battle. Maybe he has to actually innovate or flee. Cadet is not a black belt in karate. And so on. Skills do have a downside, yes- it can give mechanical advantage over other players. But... is that a SERIOUS problem? Again, it is a roleplay server- this isn't PvP. You could easily limit this to a less severe degree. My main argument is skills ALLOW people to do things outside of their skillset WITHOUT POWERGAMING (instead adding a mechanically enforced struggle), which is necessary in eventful rounds. It isn't just combat. This is probably going to be another back-and-fourth which results in nothing getting done, but I thought I'd try.
  20. Never have I wanted to strangle a player as much as I have Goolies, and by extension, Trent Kayman. Nearly every one of my characters hates Ryan Barrett. +1. Plays asshole characters in a way that wonderfully enhances the round.
