BYOND Key: JeffMomentRed Character Names: Darwin Collins Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character?: Kochiba (RGB 107, 68, 35 / Hex #6b4423) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have reached the bottom of the well for interest in Human characters after coming upon two years now. Tajara have always been an interesting species to me, from the small glances at them I’ve been able to interact with ICly, to the well curated writing on the wiki, Tajara lore has been probably my second most clicked on topic, besides the Mars wiki page. I've invested quite some time in hunting the Tajara Smuggler ghost role and playing that with who shows up and have enjoyed it thoroughly, not just the smuggler part either, I recall one round where I spent maybe an hour or so taking a PAP out and filling up a canister with a grove-worlds gas where my character sat down and talked about the Revolutions and how the galaxy is indeed too big for him, with his crewmate. Now that I’ve begun shifting my main’s schedule to be aboard the Horizon every other month or so and going to school in-universe, I have decided to pursue this after several character ideas did not stick the landing for me. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Tajara lore has been a hulk for me to tackle and absorb. What most stands out for me in differences between playing a Human and playing a Tajara, aside from the obvious ones of third-person speech, emotes of flicking a ear or moving a tail, is the stellar-culture shock, the ethnic oppression, the long standing history of intellectual suppression, suffering, and the completely fragmented life your average Tajara comes from. For one, the entire section of “Oh yeah most of their recorded history has just been a race of historically-embedded people playing the role of nobles” is fascinating, the Akhran for three thousand and a half years(citing 1138 BCE when Dirrnavirr'Almalik mixed the nobility of the warring M’sai and Hharar) have controlled their entire species through a series of eugenics, selective breeding and such, which has brought about deformities and so much more trouble for the Tajara species. Whether it be Adhomai, Little Adhomai, Hrro’zamal, Gakal’zaal, the Tajara in Sol before their ban, or the fleeing revolutionaries in the Free Tajaran Council. Your average Tajara will likely always have some sort of political history and opinion resulting from either revolutions, the stellar culture shock from being introduced to interstellar society far too soon, life in the Spur in general, or living in any common location one might find a community of Tajara. Their species is in a state of turmoil, and their homeworld is under the nuclear sword of Damocles. It is something that is very interesting to play the role of an average-joe(average-zosef?) breaking out of their conditioning, which is what I very much would like to capture when playing such a character. Religion is a very important thing in Tajaran society, the PRA being the only nation to take steps towards suppressing it as it is seen as a tool the Njarir used to control those below them. A deeply rooted piece of Tajaran culture, S’rendarr and Messa and the Ma’ta’ke gods makeup or have affected the lives of every single Tajara in some way. Expanding on the obvious ones though, rolling r’s, communicating with others in different perspectives is a challenge I would really like to try out, I’m fascinated that the first-person perspective is used only in situations where a Tajara trusts an individual with their life, I enjoy that it is an additional milestone in a friendship or romantic relationship which is unique to Tajara alone. I enjoy experimenting with dialects and ways of speaking to better play a character. I was inspired to speak in a unique way in Freespeak as my main, Darwin, because of Eridani slang lore, so this seems right up my alley in terms of interests. Loud noises are another thing, as minor as it seems, which Tajara vary compared to other species, their ears being far more sensitive to such noises than other, screaming, gunshots, whatever, will result in a flick of the ear. Character Name: Kezerjem Jaar’zeck Please provide a short backstory for this character (Approximately two paragraphs) Kezerjem was born in 2432 under Hharar parents, in the final months of the First Revolution. His father Pa’zaack and his mother Rahseena met in a Hadiist field hospital after Pa’zaack took a debilitating injury to one of his legs. Naturally they drew close to each other and when the war ended the two were wed in a S’rendarr church. Rahseena gave birth to first Kezerjem, then during the Interwar years, two girls. Raised in the city of Tampiska by his hard-working veteran Hadiist father and his part-time nurse and superstitious mother, Kezerjem was inducted into Nal’tor’s CCE in his youth where he was taught valuable skills to mature best into Republican society, and the Spur as a whole. Kezerjem, like many Tajara, wound up working in a manufacturing facility, where he remained employed until the Second Revolution. Kezerjem at the age of eighteen, with the fervor for adventure and the hate for Royalists stoked by his father, was among the first to sign up for enlistment, becoming part of the infantry, where he was deployed on Harr’masir as part of the Dymtris Front. Having fought in several skirmishes Kezerjem was transferred to East Ras’nrr following the fall of Tampiska to the Liberation Army in 2458. It was here he participated in the Recapture of B’urr(P’urr), and where he was injured taking him out of the war for several months, following major blood loss and a broken arm. Kezerjem, for nearly the rest of the war, stayed in Nal’tor as part of a reserve and guard for the city, up until the final months of the Second Revolution where Liberation Forces began their final offensive across Ras’nrr. Kezerjem found himself embroiled in the last three months of the war, having been called to the front along with countless other reservists, until the stalemate came in October and finally the ceasefire and armistice. The Second Revolution took much from and taught much to the matured Kezerjem, the war, especially his time on Harr’masir, strengthened his belief in S’rendarr and Messa. His faith helped him recover from his sister’s death to a bombing and the casualties he had witnessed first hand during the conflict. As the Second Revolution came to its closing months, the final offensive by the Liberation Army brought him to compare his struggle to the Sun Wars of Tajaran Antiquity, the Liberation Army and their practices seemed so easy to compare to the Raskariim cults so far before, suicide bombing to ritual sacrifice, the factionalism to the ancient divided warlords of the 2600’s. With the signing of the Armistice and the arms race between the three nations continuing, Kezerjem worried that perhaps the doomsday cultists were correct, and perhaps Adhomai was nearing its end. It was then that Visionary Hadiism adopted him, Tajara colonizing the stars was the only way to ensure the survival of Adhomai and Tajaran tradition, the adventure and thrill of exploring space capturing his heart. The war over and Adhomai at relative peace, Kezerjem, like many a typical Tajara, returned to civilian life. His hometown devastated, his youngest sister dead, and his mother disabled, Kezerjem found himself, his father, and his remaining living sister as collective breadwinners. His elderly father and him working in a factory, his sister as a nurse like her mother was. At twenty-nine, only a few months after the war, Kezerjem, a more nuanced and weary Tajara, left home to provide for his family with a job working supply for NanoTrasen and a feverish-guilty itch to escape the world he had participated in bringing to a boil and simmering. Now working under Orion Express following the Conglomerate’s official creation, Kezerjem has had four years of experience outside of Tajaran space, working most of that time on Biesel. Four years of Human society has given him a perspective on Adhomai unique to most Tajara, and quickly he realized that Human rule has, historically, brought ruin to many worlds, even if he refuses to admit it. What do you like about this character? (Describe what you like about this character I enjoy the superficial “Average Joe” archetype quite a bit, someone who comes off as your run-of-the-mill nobody, who has experienced what the majority of his kind has experienced and only recently has begun to breakthrough as a unique individual. I think that is a goal many people want to achieve with their characters, taking them from one setting and evolving them as they become more attuned to life in an extremely different setting. This character, like Darwin before, is a project I would like to take up as a way to get the ball rolling on yet another evolving “average Joe”. He just works here : ) How would you rate your role-playing ability? A lot better than when I started two years ago. If I need to do a 1-10 rating, ask because I as of now don’t wish to. Notes: : ) I'm trying

BoomerThor - Command Application
JeffMomentRed replied to BoomerThor's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
This guy joined November last year, I believe, as Flynn Johnson and their first fifteen minutes in crowbarred my character in the dome once because I two-by-four'd them. Jokes aside, Boomer has been consistently the high point of my round and has been a blast to see develop, both in-character and out-of-character, as a better player. Boomer demonstrates nearly every round they play in that they are capable of communication, competency in every role(except when they do that one silly thing in mining occasionally :P), and a love and respect for this server and its lore. Biased because Boomer has made one of the most beloved character's I've been able to interact with, of course. But they deserve a shot at command and I'm certain will be a great addition to the roles. GOAT through and through, command wl or no command wl, I have nothing left to say about this player! +1 -
[Feedback] Raising minimum age for engineering apprentices
JeffMomentRed replied to a topic in Completed Projects
From the PR, it cites characters who have been developed either from, or have developed onto a really old "bug" that use the slot for IC-purposes, as "unfair to new players that may need to actually actively learn the role." It is absolutely necessary to foster new players into these roles the best we can. I understand clogging up a role and it says in the wiki "Established characters shouldn't jump into this position outside of very unique circumstances like CCIA actions or other staff approval." to back-up that the learner role is more of a mechanically related role than it is for roleplay, not to discard that you should indeed roleplay while playing a learner role, of course. However, yes this does impact existing characters, could there be a supplementary role that has an age minimum of 18? Maybe even one of those "alternate title" roles? Something for young characters to roleplay as an engineer, or any department for that matter, working on their degree or otherwise, while keeping the mechanical learning roles? At my factory there are quite a few titles for engineers and maintenance technicians, starting with apprenticeships, to the juniors, to the average engineer or maintenance tech, then seniors, then yaddayaddayadda, I'm sure you've seen it before. Because to prop up one side, albeit as valid as getting new players trained is, it is unfair to people who want to roleplay, or are currently roleplaying as a young learning character, to not have access to any roles aboard if the age limit on all these intern jobs is to indeed be moved up to 25. I agree that an 18 year old surgeon intern or engineering intern should not be acting as a full blown surgeon or engineer, but that comes down to how they behave ingame and how they roleplay their character and can be handled on a case to case basis. This PR might help new players, it will definitely drive completely fine players away as well. Tl;dr I can see all the positives to this, I also think it hurts just as much as it fixes, and I think it can be remedied in a way which can help both sides and end in a win-win rather than a win-lose. But, I know there were also things written specifically in to prevent the issues that have been brought up from this PR. Anyways, thats all I got, I appreciate the thread, the PR, and the people who work really hard on development regardless. -
BYOND Key: JeffMomentRed Game ID: cps-aXxy Player Byond Key/Character name: UltraNumeron Staff involved: Melariara Reason for complaint: Numeron spent the last around forty minutes of the NEAR Security-less shift teleporting into several departments, security in particular, stealing lockers, breaking them open and turning them into teleporting closets for a "Teleporting closet cult" within the center ring, with the help of a cadet, who was the only security staff on shift and conscious. After it was ahelped and it was deemed LRP by Mel, assuming the next response was spurred on by whatever Mel told Numeron in the ahelp, Numeron then commented in OOC after round the following remark. "OOC UltraNumeron: I do kind of wish it was a bit clearer on what is too lrp for aurora, didnt want to do anything too fucked up and serious there with how long it had been and so few sec" I was going to leave it alone until that comment, this player admits to not being able to understand what is unrealistic or LRP about their gimmick. You must maintain character at ALL TIMES. No suiciding to leave the round (ghost or use cryogenic storage), and no random grief at round end. Avoid chucklefucking. While I can understand wanting to antag up and not be "too fucked up or serious", there are other ways, millions of other ways, to generate interaction and roleplay in this server's setting, in mild or peaceful manners as an antag. Numeron has been playing this server for about a month or two now and mostly as an antag, I think its reasonable to know what is acceptable on this server after such. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes, I ahelped Melararia and was told the player was talked to, I contacted staff again after the ooc comment was made and was directed here. Approximate Date/Time: 6:00 am EST, 8/24/2023

Lore Impact (Small/Medium/Large): Small Species: Human Short Description: A revision on the “The Solarian Army’s Reunification Campaign” section of the Mars wiki-page that clears up some vagueness of the factions that fought within the campaign. How will this be reflected on-station?: I wished to spark the imagination of future Martian characters who have departed the red planet after 2464. Whether they wanted to play a fleeing secessionist, gang member, outlaw, etc. who came from the Moderate Hazard Zone or one of the millions of citizens from the sixteen arcologies located above the MHZ now under Solarian control. Does this addition do anything not achieved by what already exists?: Yes, I believe it clears up some of the vagueness of the Reunification Campaign’s wiki entry by adding from parts in the Reunification articles posted last year, and adds an extra line on the state of the Arcologies below the ‘No-Hazard’ Zone. Do you understand that the project may change over time in ways you may not foresee once it is handed over to the Lore Team? Absolutely, and I am 100% open for edits or otherwise, denial, here. There has been some confusion among a few other players who I’ve talked to about the Reunification campaign and anything to clear that up so that the wiki may reflect it, is my goal here. I hope you guys both see that and enjoy this revision : ) Long Description: Originally a debate between another player in d-chat and me, I have brought this up in the Human-General channel of the Lore Discord, where NewOriginalSchwann answered my questions diligently. Schwann explained the variety of forces that the Solarians would likely have faced during the two-month Reunification Campaign. I have talked to another Mars fan and there was some confusion as well. I wished to do my best to keep the original entry’s short and summarized nature while ensuring it covers enough ground that future characters and even current ones can build off of it. Having a more clear and current image of Mars is something I’ve wanted for a bit and although this entry I want edited is a year old I believe it completes its goal without stepping on anyone’s toes or writing a news-article(which I don’t think I’m allowed to do though I’m unsure but would totally support), and keeps the current Mars lore at a cliffhanger of ‘what happens next’. Anyways, here it is, my revision of the 2464 Solarian Reunification Campaign on Mars: At the start of May 2464, Solarian armed forces under the command of Governor-General Tereza Varzieva launched an effort to “stabilize the planet and restore order to regions outside of the Violet Dawn hazard zone”, thus effectively bringing Mars back under Solarian control. The Governor-General’s offensive against the various warring factions of criminal gangs, bandits, supply raiders, secessionist forces and various other paramilitary or criminal forces, was ultimately successful and the sections of Mars outside of the government’s control mostly surrendered or were otherwise seized by force within two months, concluding at the tail end of June. Arcologies within the Moderate Hazard zone still face extremely difficult circumstances, from environmental hazards, supply shortages, starvation, unrest, and violence. There has been little talk on the future of these arcologies in the Moderate Hazard Zone from the Solarian forces in the wake of the campaign, and as for now there is a line between civilization and lawlessness on Mars. However, with control and relative stability has brought Einstein Engines and other Solarian companies into the planet’s economy in an attempt to bring relief and assistance to the planet of Mars and its inhabitants, this has sparked hope that Mars, against all odds, could have a future once again. I have a bunch of notes elaborating the mindset and ideas I drew from, regarding each of the changes or additions in this entry. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1BS3eba_sD-bDwZHqArvCi0g9BEikP4ibxTRQsz_bskA/edit?usp=sharing

LordPwner has proven time and time again to be a capable and an extremely fun roleplayer, regardless of the gimmick or situation. I have enjoyed interacting with a wide array of their characters since my character's first interaction with a one 'Zane Miller' on a late late night in the Fall of last year. This player is an exceptional example of character development and writing, at least in my opinion, and I think they will do very well in any whitelist, prompt, gimmick, character, or situation and will and has honored the lore and story the team here has worked so hard to produce and care for. In this case, playing a Unathi who lives by their honorbound creed and by their regrets, I can almost guarantee that LordPwner will play yet another exceptional character and will not disappoint.

Change the political alignment of the SRF to not be fascism
JeffMomentRed replied to kyres1's topic in Archive
I think we should bring up Gadpathur. Commander, Cadres, Military Government, Never fall to Sol again, their society is extremely unwelcoming to outsiders aswell. Fascism under any other name for sure and, perhaps total censorship or retconning of these societies is in order. Dominia, Gadpathur and I'm sure a few more will certainly be wildly different. As someone who has been there(personal experience with a certain political ideology), changing the name of it does not stop people from behaving that way, it will not stop people from playing that way and the "people who should not be here" will eventually read the lore and either choose to break the rule of a total ban on SRF characters or play something much like a Dominian or a Gadpathurian(if they chose to do their reading) OR they will be filtered out by any other means(boredom usually for that "type" of person). TLDR for ADHD cases like me: No, the people it attracts will show up and play any other authortative government, bump Lorilili, hi Kyres : D -
Sputnik5927 - Command Whitelist Application
JeffMomentRed replied to Sputnik5927's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I appreciate Sputnik's drive to interact with others icly. People that don't often see anyone else or stick to like one or two people around have a bridge, in a way, through the players that go out of their way to interact with them, and I see that in Sputnik. +1 in those regards. : ) -
Did not know this player was quite a few characters I've enjoyed such interactions with until I saw their post here. Sarge places a great amount of effort in their roleplay and really contributes to Aurora in a wonderful way with, at least in my experience, deep storied characters with immersive interactions. +1 *chirp*

[Accepted] Kelnor - Command White List Application
JeffMomentRed replied to Kelnor's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I'm not able to properly judge this player's skill in Medical or Command thus far, being in Ops most the time, I hardly see them less its for a social conversation as our two characters are friends. I can judge their RP and can say for sure that when Medical is staffed, this player stands as a lead among them most the time. Kelnor is extremely interactive in RP from my perspective and I enjoy every chance I get to talk to Hailey Wise. I would add a +1 but considering my lack of experience with their command experience I would say do a +1/2 for me. : ) love you Kelnor : ) -
[Denied] ElizabethDame IPC WL
JeffMomentRed replied to ElizabethDame's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Bore has been a constant, reliable stream of quality roleplay and fun gameplay. I can tell simply through my near daily interactions with Bore that this player is absolutely ready and capable of handling IPC. I am so eager to see this player take part in our crew in a more substantial and more creative way, than what Bore was limited by. Forget the +1, go for +2 as I know I speak for at least one more : ) -
Demonofthefall Command Whitelist.
JeffMomentRed replied to Demonofthefall's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
Has to be one of my favorite interactions I've had with Unathi thus far. Nomakk is, once again, another great character made by a great player. Also Deadpop Command : )
