Huge bump to Peppermint's feedback. I really hope we can continue to emphasize the civilian roleplay or the other departments in general. The only gamemodes that roll today are autotraitor, vamp(out of the secret playlist) and the only one the combat oriented players seem to actively want to play is merc. I personally think security should be given less than they have, this server attracted me because of its continuing story, attention to canonicity, and roleplay oriented gameplay. The latter two of those I fear are being lost to more combat or balance related concerns, which again, personally, I don't believe are the goals of the server. I know the Odyssey test run was set in a vacuum and was OOCly made to be a worse case scenario for the gamemode, so I withold my worries to when an actual full-scale Odyssey mode will go into effect. I do hope the remaining departments are given a larger role or even a leading role in the server's narrative and gameplay besides being a support tool for Security, which has more often than not been the case in both events and the average round. Aurora's opening message each and every round is "While detecting Phoron is considered the primary objective, there also exists secondary and even tertiary objectives in which the crew of the SCCV Horizon must attempt to accomplish - examples of which are investigating potential colony sites for the expansion of the Stellar Corporate Conglomerate and the Republic of Biesel, analysing deep space anomalies to uncover the mysteries of the Orion Spur, and hopefully unearthing additional information on why Phoron exists and why it has such a profound impact within the regions of which it is discovered." Of the several objectives listed as examples, none of them seem to come to mind when thinking about consistent security/combat related events. I hope Aurora continues to be the standing beacon of story-driven roleplay and gameplay that it is, hopefully continuing to improve in this direction as well with Odyssey and the feedback it recieves.

I believe #1 comes down to and #2 are reasonable, though in my experience the situations where #1 turns into a round where I am not given any work has only happened when the other Miner has died at an away site. #3 Personally, I don't hit myself with KA blasts when fighting simplemobs quite as much as I used to when I started. Getting cracked by a stray shot has happened before but I can't comment further regarding this as, again, I don't really do it. Backpedaling to engage simple mobs with a KA has worked for me, though I understand if the way the KA functions is changed. I believe if anything that broken feet instantly killing you are more the issue than the KA, as someone who's seen miners almost always killed by that particular injury, as compared to every single other fracture injury. #4 I am nearly certain is the dev team overlooking the other PDA types on accident. #5 Could argue takes from medical's job, but I agree with this, especially now that stasis bags are not as powerful as they used to be(they don't last as long?) #6 I don't know the solution to this, the Spark's airlock has been touched maybe a dozen times since it showed up. #7 Agree with this #8 I feel like this would get rid of the purpose of the warp pack or returning to the Horizon for better equipment( Which ICly, doesn't already make alot of sense considering you're getting stuff from a vendor for made up points for doing dangerous work already, so idk). I kind of support this. #9 I do wish there was a speed up for these. #10 100% agree with this #11 Dips into the mining vendor, which whatevah, could be a thing I suppose even though by the time you have mining points there is already is better gear to get which you are almost certainly not going to get killed using(most the time).

BYOND key: JeffMomentRed Discord Username: rion356cb Character names: Kezerjem Jaar’zeck, Dyr’kuzmar Qyzm’eiratyr, Darwin Collins How long have you been playing on Aurora? Two years? Too long probably. I think my first day playing was January 4, 2022. Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? I got warned about chasing a guy into maintenance on OG Aurora the first time I joined, way back. As in verbal warning, not a note or so forth. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame? Head of Staff are roles made for several purposes. Leading a department, to warming up new players or acting as a catalyst for new characters, to facilitating or maybe generating a narrative throughout the round, for the crew or their department, antag or no antag. Command should actively work to bring direction to their department or the ship in general and keep a consistent level of communication and engagement with other players in round via announcements or intermediate updates regarding a developing situation. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them? Whitelisted players have the responsibility of demonstrating the server’s customs, rules, and lore in a way which reflects whatever whitelist they hold. I for example, hold a Tajara whitelist at the moment, this means I am expected to know Tajara lore in a more thorough and in-depth way than perhaps someone without it. A Command whitelist holds more scrutiny and far more round-influencing ability than an alien whitelist. It is important that members of Command do their best to shepherd the round for the enjoyment of as many players as they can. Using gameplay tools and good faith to not shutdown an antagonist’s round right away is part of this shepherding: proper escalation, limited knowledge, and extending olive branches of interaction. Explain how the recent events in the Spur changed your character and how they came to be employed on the SCCV Horizon. Mister Armand has been positively impacted by the wider Spur’s economical issues throughout most of his working life. Though, the compounding cultural and media insulation of coming to age in a rural community, living within Dominia, and on Sun Reach has left Armand isolated from the Spur’s cultural influences or constant events for at least half of his life. The majority of his employment has been spent in the Helium-3 industry on Sun Reach and the broader Empire, making any new Phoron-related drama or crisis either unheard of, to be noted, or beneficial to the Sun Reacher’s career until eventually reaching his abroad employment in a managerial position within Zavodskoi in his late 20’s to now mid-30’s. Within the year the most effecting news would be the Rampancy Virus, something which only reinforced the lifetime Tribunalist. Though well aware that IPCs are infact not immediately rogue agents or zombiefied hostiles, Armand toes the line of cordiality, sometimes actively working to disengage with the Z.I’s he works alongside during his aboard employment with Zavodskoi. What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? Operations Manager Have you familiarized yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles? Yes Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking: Armand Gessler, Operations Manager Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action? Yep Have you linked your BYOND account to the Forums? Yes

Pretty sure you're going to get this, but, I've see FlamingLily on their several characters throughout my time on this server. Their characters get a little "flame on" sometimes or hardass, which I've always enjoyed ICly and the player is a knowledgable and experienced member of the community. I don't really interact with Engineering as a whole ICly alot, but I've seen Nystrom communicate how I'd hope a member of Command would( I am only talking about their Command Trial, I'm counting out those times outside the Trial. For as much as I've seen Nystrom talk, I've Nystrom get angry or agitated) : ) +1

I think this would be really neat and a great step away from the evil and dark reputation the "greysuit" has on SS13 : ). More particularly, I think this may be the best solution to the quoted issue I've read so far. Its not getting rid of anything, it seemingly, on paper accomplishes what both sides want at a nice middle ground.

as said in the title. Extremely annoying that every other away-mission role has it but miners, doubly annoying when you have to roleplay needing to install it or not each and every shift. I was told this was added in a PR a few weeks ago, I checked the PR, nothing about it being in the Mining PDA presets, only being given access to the program, unlike others such as the Bridge Crew, Command, and Research, who get it as a preset feature.
-
Feels like this should be in the lore canonization tab, but I bump it anyways. Hope the Synth-team enjoys this.

Machinist Workshop is also horrific to navigate, especially with someone who is rollerbed bound. Yeah the stairs in the Machinist Bay look cool and are aesthetically pleasing, but they were added specifically for that visual appeal, before this PR was implemented. Yeah I'll just drag this IPC who can't stand on their own up two different sets of stairs. Please reverse this PR at least until there are items to circumnavigate it which are easily accessible to each department, or get rid of it entirely. Additionally, roller-beds( cots/stretchers ) have been able to go up and down stairs for far longer than SS13 has been out.

I'd support cameras on security voidsuits. If I'd extend that support, it'd be to mining/expeditions as well, watching a miner/expedition crew get devastated by xenofauna while I drink a coffee and work ICly would be infinite levels of entertainment, both OOCly and ICly, PERSONALLY. It does not seem like something you really need beyond communication and coordination purposes, by that I mean, it won't often be used for further proof as a corporate security officer's word is more often than not, all the proof and valid enough proof in gameplay for a charge to go through. This hinder's the rare ICly corrupt officers' opportunities as well, I think of someone like Elliot Keles( a corrupt officer for those who weren't there ), not being able to work with several gimmicks and other IC interactions, which were, in my opinion, very fun . To quote Sniblet "I think that all this really needs is making the cameras optional and unenforceable on low alert (something something “privacy laws” in the year of our lord 2466), maybe putting them under the warden’s charge instead of one in each locker, making them at least visible in examine, and feasible to cut by an antag who’s trying. It’s still going to record a holdup on blue alert, but you can just ask the officer to turn the camera off and toss it over before you pull your gun all the way. It’s the same as handheld radios, but actually a bit less problematic." I feel it is already tough enough to work around cameras as is, offering balance solutions to body-cameras alone may not be good enough if these are to be implemented. Cameras, as it stands, alert Engineering, Security, and the Artificial Intelligence if they are destroyed and entering certain areas, say the Grauwolf for example, will alert Security to a possible intrusion. If the server wants more antagonist play that isn't just combat, peace-tags, Teleport-Techno, then how cameras function IF body-cameras for security were implemented should probably, once again, be changed. Whatever change to cameras that would hypothetically follow should maybe put more pressure on Antags to generate interaction, as per the servers rules, as it would give them(ideally) alot more wiggle room to play in. So, otherwise, I'm all for the VOIDSUIT CAMERAS and the benefit they'd have to Expeditions. They, in my mind and without alot of internal reasoning needed, make far more sense and would generate far more interaction than body-cameras. Cybs made a good proposal. TLDR; Cameras for Security on a server which value an antagonist's ability to generate RP need further changes if body-cams were to be added, so would scrutiny on antags as they are given more freedom(ideally) + voidsuit expedition cameras would be cool(Alien, crew walking to and investigating the Derelict up until Kane is facehugged/Aliens, Marines discovering the hive)

I've been in five rounds with this Operations Manager, the first three were pretty good, I believe the first round of the three was the character's first appearance. Good play with antagonists, especially with a kidnapping, which usually is an infamous pitfall in demonstrating gameplay. I would like to remind you to please keep communication up with your department if you will be keeping this or creating another command character in another department/corporation. Informing your department/countrymen/contractors, depending on the command role, frequently of what is happening on the ship is important, even if the round's events are doing their best to keep you away from updating department members. Keeping people in the know, even if they are not immediately useful in the situation is an effective way to involve the crew in an antagonist's gimmick, especially a more subdued one where command or security is staying locked up in the meeting room during a deliberation, or otherwise generate a narrative. I've often been critical of ATGiltspire's gameplay in the past, I believe fairly so, but the gameplay demonstrated as this Operations Manager has been as solid, from only what I have seen and as much as I could ask of an Operations Manager, communication and past critiques aside. 4/5 and a +1 from me.

rejected Firstacts Command Application
JeffMomentRed replied to firstact's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
This player is kind of awesome. I don't think I have a negative thing to say about Firstact, they've demonstrated good OOC and IC conduct around me, they are wonderful to roleplay with and-- wait.... did you not capitalize 'Tajara' or 'Hharar'? : / -
I agree with Geeves solution. I do not think lobbykicking people waiting for a round to start, or for a round which they feel like joining, while they play other games or do other irl things, is the answer. Fluffy says it himself that it likely has no performance effect on the lobby, so beyond that, the most reasonable middleground is having it readout people. Hey, like, why not just add the (AFK) tag to players instead of it being for staff only?

Make the Executive Officer the ship's second in command.
JeffMomentRed replied to Kintsugi's topic in Suggestions & Ideas
Do not roll Service with Operations for the OM. The communication load would be insane if HTs, Miners, Machinists, Gardener, Janitor, Cook, and Bartender were rolled into a single departmental command's chat. -
its not April Fools for me yet. Can we remove Sol? Its like Stormtroopers or saturday cartoon villain, lets do it guys.

Although Pebble is not an official follower of the Eternal faith, through Rootsong traveling interstellar distances, concepts of the Eternal have been in circulation for a vast time before the official formation of the church. These concepts have ‘rooted’ themselves into many Dionae, including Pebble. The gestalt agrees with most of the fundamental beliefs of the Church and demonstrates its own belief in a higher goal in its mission to gather as much experience, or knowledge, and one day reunite with its Cetus. They also believe in the basics of the Eternal Cycle, and that Dionae have a large responsibility in the Universe, that beyond Temporals, though not above them. Pebble, however, disagrees with the more spiritual beliefs of the Church, like the belief in some primordial entity embodying light, this skepticism is founded in comparisons to other deities embodying stars within other species’ religions. The Omnivirate as a political body on Biesel is not something Pebble views in a positive light, thinking they would be better off among stars where their discourse can reach more of their kind. Though understanding that as a representative of its kind and a reachable voice by any being on Biesel is important, Pebble balances these two differences within their consensus into a more positive view and another interesting form of life. The gestalt often finds itself in a majority agreement with the Iron Eternal’s principles. Technology is a useful component in helping store, access, and spread information, and before Pebble decides to make the pilgrimage to its Cetus’ seeding grounds, it intends to copy its knowledge and experience over the last two centuries somewhere with the Church. The Peacekeeper Mandate was part of the reason the gestalt agreed to move on from Mictlan, not a personal negative, but a cruel time for the people of Mictlan caused by the turmoil from the Mandate and the parties involved. The two years of instability and the surrounding Solarian Collapse convinced Pebble to depart the world and continue on its journey.

I agree with Dreamy, as much as I might enjoy memorials to specific crewmates, like the one which was removed from Konyang. There is just too many cons for it to be healthy.

BYOND Key: JeffMomentRed Character Names: Darwin Collins, Kezerjem Jaar’zeck, Vigo Cromb Species you are applying to play: Diona ------------------------------ General Whitelist Requirements What colour do you plan on making your first alien character?: Dark(Spaceborne Geras) Have you read the lore pages for the species you wish to be whitelisted for?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this species?: I want to explore more options in my roleplay opportunities. I, personally, think I’ve done pretty well as a Tajara, and where it scratches my itch of playing an “average Joe”. I have discovered an interest in playing something completely alien in physiology and culture. I might want to play Vaurca eventually but if I were to do that it would be to play a Ta, which I am currently not looking for at the moment. Diona seems like the perfect milestone for what I’m looking to achieve, being able to play an extremely old and completely alien being to the vast majority of the crew. What makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human?: Dionae are a collection of Diona formed together in a gestalt which is the combined force of several nymphs. These nymphs work together in mutual agreement with each other for their survival and benefit, obviously this is different from a human, who have a singular mind, where a Dionae have several minds at once working together. Dionae have a unique way of gaining experiences and perspectives as well, through DNA sampling. For example, presenting a gestalt with the concept of knighthood and honor, or an alien religion and attempting to instruct them verbally or with example. Where the information filter of verbal communication and visual instruction can be skipped completely for the direct experience and the emotion involved with it(if the donor is alive, the dead do not yield any emotional memory when absorbed). Dionae also have extremely long lifespans, indefinite lifespans at that, and with the passage of time and the collection of experiences, Dionae often have extremely vast, unique, and refined perspectives on many subjects. ------------------------------ Character Name: Pebble On A Pile Of Lessons Write a backstory for your character. This may include their origin, education, personality and how they arrived to the SCCV Horizon.: Pebble On A Pile Of Lessons is a Geras gestalt that classifies as a Scholarly Song mind type. They come from the Wandering Chorale of the Spur Cetus. This interstellar upbringing gives Pebble, two centuries after their creation, a darkened bark, slow pace and equally slow but calculated approach to conversation. The gestalt departed two centuries prior to the discovery of the Cetus in April of 2464. Several nymphs coalesced with an interest of collecting more experiences to one day return to the Cetus’ seeding grounds in the Unabating Call system and inform the cluster of their findings. The gestalt had drifted somewhere between Tau Ceti space and the modern day Corporate Reconstruction Zone for an odd century before finding itself anchored to a cluster of debris several AU from Mictlan in 2425. Here it rooted until the 2440s where a surveyor team from Mictlan discovered the cyclops rooted to one of the larger planetesimals. A Mictlani survey member made first contact with the gestalt and offered them a further sampling to better understand their environment. Pebble was given passage to Mictlan’s Fallowed Gardens and employment as a construction worker for NanoTrasen in nearby cities until the Solarian ban on NanoTrasen work within their space. This changed within a year following the ban where Pebble found itself a citizen of the Republic. In late 2463, the gestalt decided to leave Mictlan following several egregious trespasses made by the conflicting parties during the civil unrest on the planet as well as the surrounding Solarian collapse. The gestalt considered little for the exact corporation they would work for and where they would end up, joining for the experience and opportunity to learn more perspectives and share its own experiences. Though they would not share this with their employers, rather, withholding the information and in its place telling the NanoTrasen hiring agent that they would work as often as they could and with as much effort as the company would expect of it. Money held little concern to the Geras and with the Alliance’s and now Republic’s current policy of tagging and limiting Dionae growth, as well as having no natural need to expand itself at the time and no reason why the gestalt may want to split for the perceivable future, Pebble had little care for where they went, as long as they continued their interest. Gaining its Republic citizenship right before leaving Mictlan in the 63 following twenty years of employment. The gestalt wished to experience another location and the best way to do that, having little in finances, was through a transfer in employment. Their good record and employment history gave the gestalt more opportunities than it originally had, bringing it to the Horizon as a gardener. Though the vessel’s tumultuous history concerned the gestalt, Pebble was bothered little as it seemed the only crew to be fatally harmed or gravely injured were ones in occupations which would expect an outcome like such. Pebble views life in all shapes and sizes equal in value to each other and keeps an open mind on what qualifies as such. The gestalt has defended itself numerous times against life in interstellar space, especially on the planetesimal it latched to before being discovered by the Mictlani survey team. Only a few of these, enough to count on one human hand, ended fatally for the attacking fauna. It is not something Pebble regrets and is considered unavoidable by the gestalt, who only ever intends to maim an attacker to immobility or inability to pursue the gestalt and only if the gestalt cannot escape or peacefully de-escalate the situation. Pebble views beings as capable of forming their own opinions and enacting their own wills on the universe around them or following their programming, whether that be biological or synthetic. Seeing beings both break from their nature or follow it, Pebble learned to appreciate life from its most mundane or rudimentary forms to its most complex examples. This perspective on life does not extend to a religious faith, though extremely unlike to change their mind, the gestalt can seem as if it practices an underlying faith with its unwillingness to consider life differently, its overall view of life within the universe, and its belief that the gestalt can impart wisdom and change the lives of many beings even after it has departed from their presence. Pebble does not technically follow the Eternal faith, having made contact with the official faith after discovering alien religions during their time on Mictlan, the gestalt considers the spiritual parts of the faith as another unique expression of life in the universe. How has the recent events of the Orion Spur impacted your character?: Events such as the Phoron Scarcity, the Solarian Collapse or even the Invasions of Biesel for interstellar-wide affairs, while region-specific events such as the Peacekeeper Mandate, The Titan Rises or even Cold Dawn may impact your character. Pebble left Mictlan during the Peacekeeper Mandate and the surrounding Solarian Collapse, in 2463, feeling it was time to search for more experiences within the Spur and that Mictlan was undergoing a change for the worse. A combination of worrying for the gestalt’s own safety, the next step in their journey/quest, and their financial status gave Pebble little in options of traveling. Their two decade employment history with NanoTrasen gave Pebble a shot at seeing somewhere new in a way which they could not afford otherwise. Mictlan joining the Republic and NanoTrasen's continued business practice combined with the gestalt's interest in continued employment in the Chainlink brought a citizenship and an opportunity to leave Mictlan. How does your character view the megacorporation they work for?: Pebble views NanoTrasen in a neutral to positive light, with little interest in moving up rather than moving on. They know the Chainlink uses aliens to their advantage, and they care little for that fact, not needing money, nutrients, or having a biological need to expand itself in a traditional manner. However, employed transfer being the only feasible way for the gestalt to interact with other intelligent beings and thus continue their collection of experiences, Pebble holds a grateful attitude for this opportunity of a lifetime to their employer.

Ublicto - Command Application 2
JeffMomentRed replied to Ublicto's topic in Whitelist Applications Archives
I have had mixed feelings about Ublicto since they joined as Elwood Johnson, but having seen his characters and attitude change aswell having just learned more about them from my perspective, I'm willing to support a +1 knowing that if asked to correct something, Ublicto will, given proper advice or critique. I've seen Ublicto's Burns behave as a communicative and effective leader, willing to engage with antags as more than just an escalating security response. I have also seen Burns fumble a few times. Are they going to make mistakes? Yeah, big time, as a Captain for sure. Is a Captain the right role for a starting Command App? Man, don't look at me, I just play Operations. But I think given time to fit into the boots, Ublicto could be a solid active Captain player, which is something we need more of, which is why I am willing to support this. -
BYOND Key: JeffMomentRed Game ID: cp6-a3t1 Player Byond Key/Character name: Piston1937 Staff involved: Melariara Reason for complaint: Rogue borg RDM had been dispatched by Security an hour in after it had threatened to sedate the crew, tampered with power, and claimed to be independent from the vessel, having taken up the Tyrant lawset. Piston, RDM's player looc'd the following after their borg was destroyed: I suggested that piston do not take it to looc, THEY DID NOT BRING IT TO DCHAT AFTERWARDS, they said that little thing there in dchat, seemed to have calmed down and then disconnected afterwards. Did you attempt to adminhelp the issue at the time? If so, what was the known action taken by administration/moderation? Yes, Mel had contacted me through the Admin discord pm system several minutes later explaining she would be home in thirty minutes to take a look at it or I could make a player complaint then and there. I waited for Mel to come by anyways because I had the time for it, she then instructed me to make a player complaint. Approximate Date/Time: 4:11AM EST, 2/10/2023

Hi and thank you for this application. We have looked this over and believe that this is a positive addition to the Skrell lore and will be implementing it with only relatively minor changes soon.

BYOND Key: JeffMomentRed Character Names: Darwin Collins Species you are applying to play: Tajara What color do you plan on making your first alien character?: Kochiba (RGB 107, 68, 35 / Hex #6b4423) Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: I have reached the bottom of the well for interest in Human characters after coming upon two years now. Tajara have always been an interesting species to me, from the small glances at them I’ve been able to interact with ICly, to the well curated writing on the wiki, Tajara lore has been probably my second most clicked on topic, besides the Mars wiki page. I've invested quite some time in hunting the Tajara Smuggler ghost role and playing that with who shows up and have enjoyed it thoroughly, not just the smuggler part either, I recall one round where I spent maybe an hour or so taking a PAP out and filling up a canister with a grove-worlds gas where my character sat down and talked about the Revolutions and how the galaxy is indeed too big for him, with his crewmate. Now that I’ve begun shifting my main’s schedule to be aboard the Horizon every other month or so and going to school in-universe, I have decided to pursue this after several character ideas did not stick the landing for me. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Tajara lore has been a hulk for me to tackle and absorb. What most stands out for me in differences between playing a Human and playing a Tajara, aside from the obvious ones of third-person speech, emotes of flicking a ear or moving a tail, is the stellar-culture shock, the ethnic oppression, the long standing history of intellectual suppression, suffering, and the completely fragmented life your average Tajara comes from. For one, the entire section of “Oh yeah most of their recorded history has just been a race of historically-embedded people playing the role of nobles” is fascinating, the Akhran for three thousand and a half years(citing 1138 BCE when Dirrnavirr'Almalik mixed the nobility of the warring M’sai and Hharar) have controlled their entire species through a series of eugenics, selective breeding and such, which has brought about deformities and so much more trouble for the Tajara species. Whether it be Adhomai, Little Adhomai, Hrro’zamal, Gakal’zaal, the Tajara in Sol before their ban, or the fleeing revolutionaries in the Free Tajaran Council. Your average Tajara will likely always have some sort of political history and opinion resulting from either revolutions, the stellar culture shock from being introduced to interstellar society far too soon, life in the Spur in general, or living in any common location one might find a community of Tajara. Their species is in a state of turmoil, and their homeworld is under the nuclear sword of Damocles. It is something that is very interesting to play the role of an average-joe(average-zosef?) breaking out of their conditioning, which is what I very much would like to capture when playing such a character. Religion is a very important thing in Tajaran society, the PRA being the only nation to take steps towards suppressing it as it is seen as a tool the Njarir used to control those below them. A deeply rooted piece of Tajaran culture, S’rendarr and Messa and the Ma’ta’ke gods makeup or have affected the lives of every single Tajara in some way. Expanding on the obvious ones though, rolling r’s, communicating with others in different perspectives is a challenge I would really like to try out, I’m fascinated that the first-person perspective is used only in situations where a Tajara trusts an individual with their life, I enjoy that it is an additional milestone in a friendship or romantic relationship which is unique to Tajara alone. I enjoy experimenting with dialects and ways of speaking to better play a character. I was inspired to speak in a unique way in Freespeak as my main, Darwin, because of Eridani slang lore, so this seems right up my alley in terms of interests. Loud noises are another thing, as minor as it seems, which Tajara vary compared to other species, their ears being far more sensitive to such noises than other, screaming, gunshots, whatever, will result in a flick of the ear. Character Name: Kezerjem Jaar’zeck Please provide a short backstory for this character (Approximately two paragraphs) Kezerjem was born in 2432 under Hharar parents, in the final months of the First Revolution. His father Pa’zaack and his mother Rahseena met in a Hadiist field hospital after Pa’zaack took a debilitating injury to one of his legs. Naturally they drew close to each other and when the war ended the two were wed in a S’rendarr church. Rahseena gave birth to first Kezerjem, then during the Interwar years, two girls. Raised in the city of Tampiska by his hard-working veteran Hadiist father and his part-time nurse and superstitious mother, Kezerjem was inducted into Nal’tor’s CCE in his youth where he was taught valuable skills to mature best into Republican society, and the Spur as a whole. Kezerjem, like many Tajara, wound up working in a manufacturing facility, where he remained employed until the Second Revolution. Kezerjem at the age of eighteen, with the fervor for adventure and the hate for Royalists stoked by his father, was among the first to sign up for enlistment, becoming part of the infantry, where he was deployed on Harr’masir as part of the Dymtris Front. Having fought in several skirmishes Kezerjem was transferred to East Ras’nrr following the fall of Tampiska to the Liberation Army in 2458. It was here he participated in the Recapture of B’urr(P’urr), and where he was injured taking him out of the war for several months, following major blood loss and a broken arm. Kezerjem, for nearly the rest of the war, stayed in Nal’tor as part of a reserve and guard for the city, up until the final months of the Second Revolution where Liberation Forces began their final offensive across Ras’nrr. Kezerjem found himself embroiled in the last three months of the war, having been called to the front along with countless other reservists, until the stalemate came in October and finally the ceasefire and armistice. The Second Revolution took much from and taught much to the matured Kezerjem, the war, especially his time on Harr’masir, strengthened his belief in S’rendarr and Messa. His faith helped him recover from his sister’s death to a bombing and the casualties he had witnessed first hand during the conflict. As the Second Revolution came to its closing months, the final offensive by the Liberation Army brought him to compare his struggle to the Sun Wars of Tajaran Antiquity, the Liberation Army and their practices seemed so easy to compare to the Raskariim cults so far before, suicide bombing to ritual sacrifice, the factionalism to the ancient divided warlords of the 2600’s. With the signing of the Armistice and the arms race between the three nations continuing, Kezerjem worried that perhaps the doomsday cultists were correct, and perhaps Adhomai was nearing its end. It was then that Visionary Hadiism adopted him, Tajara colonizing the stars was the only way to ensure the survival of Adhomai and Tajaran tradition, the adventure and thrill of exploring space capturing his heart. The war over and Adhomai at relative peace, Kezerjem, like many a typical Tajara, returned to civilian life. His hometown devastated, his youngest sister dead, and his mother disabled, Kezerjem found himself, his father, and his remaining living sister as collective breadwinners. His elderly father and him working in a factory, his sister as a nurse like her mother was. At twenty-nine, only a few months after the war, Kezerjem, a more nuanced and weary Tajara, left home to provide for his family with a job working supply for NanoTrasen and a feverish-guilty itch to escape the world he had participated in bringing to a boil and simmering.
