Hoi Chummer, I'm interested if this is going on, although I've got some weird hours right now.

(You said maybe even outside the capacities of the game) Welcome to the 23rd century. Mankind has reached a golden age of technology and progress, as ever accelerating technological growth has brought humanity to the cusp of a singularity. Nanotechnology, Genetic Modification, AI, Brain Uploading, Cybernetic Augmentation, Anti-matter production, Virtual Reality and even immortality are common place. Colonies exist on all the major planets and moons of the solar system, with thousands of habitats, orbitals and stations making up the now 53 Billion people of the human race. Soon, the greatest achievement of our generation shall be completed, with the first wormhole gateway over Luna, which will finally unshackle us from the lightspeed limit. At least, that's the 23rd century you lived in three days ago. Welcome to the Jovian Trade Administration Station Arcturus, center of commerce in the Kuiper Belt, and the front row seat to downfall of civilization. What seemed like a routine corporate war on earth has swiftly grown into something much larger. No one's quite sure who fired the first shots, but it hardly matters now. Nanoplagues have reduced a tenth of the earth's surface into uninhabitable rot. Autonomous Warfleets duel in esoteric formations as the Jovian Moons make their bid for independence. Mercury has been whipped clean of life as it's Von-Neumann mining drones begin disassembling everything to construct great mass drivers. The Titan Technocracy crumbles as it's uploaded population is decimated by viruses. The pattern continues, across the solar system. Infowar-attacks, Nanoweapons, Military AIs, Gene-plagues, Autowars. But, life goes on. Now, as Infomorph, Genemod, AI, Augmented, Uplift, or even a baseline human, you must survive the fall. You'll need to utilize all your skills, wits, and cunning to survive, since every round is canon. Thankfully, death is cheap. Nearly all bodies will have a cortical stack, a blackbox for your brain. So long as your cortical stack survives, you survive. And so long as you're aboard the station, you can uplink your stack to the station network to transfer out and into a new body as needed. However, watch out, because everything networked is at risk of intrusion. Leave your stack open to the network, and you might find yourself being attacked by a hacker, here to either steal your body, or delete your mind outright. For that matter, you yourself might exploit this to your own ends, and hack into exposed stacks for your own gain. However, for the paranoid, AI, uploaded/Informorphs, backups can be created, although, take care to safeguard them, lest they be deleted or data-mined. As an informorph, AI, or jacked-in individual, jump between the various systems and machinery of the station, hack in, dodge security protocols, and take control, and setup your own security protocols. Or seize control of the central station administrator computer and have as complete control as it gets. Or power down your network access, and trust your body, instincts, skill, and good old non-networked engineering to survive. Use genemods to enhance your senses, strength, durability, and even breath in space (sideffects may vary). Or augment yourself for that extra-edge and the cool internalized gadgets. Or, just buy, steal, or build high-tech tools such as hacking rigs, plasma cannons, fusion cutters, plague-crucibles, nano-forges, Von-Neumann attack drones, and much more. Above all, weep, over the massive amount of resources all this will take and you don't have. You'll need to trade, kill, steal, salvage, or pillage the high-tech parts needed for all this from outside forces, be they Kuiperbelt traders, pirates, Jovian Autowars, Martian Rebels, or just poor refugees from earth. And experience an actual overarching storyline centered around trying to get to the hell out of the solar system before humanity tears everything apart. Welcome to the Technoapocalypse. Edit: Why did I write this.

Clarification. Didn't mean to say that the archetypes are boring, just that having all of the species, dionaea especially, fall into them would be boring. They're archetypes for a reason, but having something different is what makes it more interesting.

Uranium. Like. Candy. This is essential. It is a core part of dionaea lore that has been neglected again and again. Ahem, but yes, I agree with Skull on this, Dionaea are really weird and play by their own rules, that's their thing. They shouldn't have to fit into the whole Space-Opera-Species-Architype thing everyone else has got, because that's boring.

Alium Deathtrap, duh. Anything less is preposterous. that's sarcasm, for those unaware of my opinion of alium deathtrap

I find brave new world to be a massive pain for Multiplayer games, since it really just makes the already big issue of endgame turn length into an even bigger issue of micromanagement without really adding too much.

Base civ 5, DLC, mods ?

These are usually fun but they are also controversial. Because we try to canonize lore events for the station their death count is required to be rather low. There are accusations that the events can be, according to OOC after they end, "boring", or "lame", or "fucking shit kill yourself". I think it'd be fun if the lore team helped write non-canon events. Weird stuff that'd let them stretch their insanity creativity. Maybe make use of some of the cut lore stuff or do Twilightzone WhatIf Stories. Or maybe do that thing I did with the mysteries uncovered event series, where I had a whole event Canon Universe that was internally consistent only for those events.

I'd make everyone on the lore team fight to the death until only half remain. A good purge really motivates the work force. Also, get the lore team to collab with the admin/event hosts to plan and write out events before hand, to try and make events that are both interesting, dynamic, and have solid writing and roleplaying. Also, make it very very clear that Dionaea eat Uranium like candy. That's the most important lore thing. Everything else is secondary. Uranium. Like. Candy.

3rd Edition, and we're actually already started, although we've got an open slot or two due to a late dropout.

A 6v6 Competitive ShootyWhatsIt with 20 different characters with radically different abilities made by Blizzard, the people who brought you Starcraft: Broodwar. It's like TF2, but more streamlined, has overall better balance, and significantly faster and more dynamic. Also it has a story written by the Blizzard writing team, which is quite nice but doesn't effect gameplay in the slightest. -
Well, it's nice to finally hear the whole story, so I'd like to thank you for finally clearing that up, Josh. ... Yeah, that whole situation could have gone better. I dunno really what else to say. I still think that threatening to quit was unprofessional and dishonorable, but I guess in the end we all felt forced into a corner. Did I believe we should have let you just leave? No, because you were a good staff member who believed they were doing the right thing. Did I believe it was right to deny covert's appeal? No, because it was against the spirit of the rules and against our server's principles.

Alright then, I'm retired, but since I was the admin that was theoretically in charge of handling your last unban, I feel I should probably explain my decision, and the reasons for it. It's actually kinda simple, and while I regret it, I still feel it was a necessary decision. To put it simply: A significant majority of the moderation team threatened to resign and leave if you were unbanned. As a result, the then headmin judged that it wasn't worth the risk unbanning you. I didn't strictly have to follow this judgement, but under pressure from both a large part of the moderation team and our headmin, I did not approve the unban. I am, in all sincerity, completely sorry for what happened. It wasn't how things should have been done, and quite a number of admins objected to it. Most of the mods that threatened to leave have left, and so has the headmin at the time, so if you have anyone to blame, it's me, for not realizing that the types of people who would threaten to quit because of giving someone else a second chance aren't the types of people we want as staff.

I will probably do so, since I assume no one else knows enough to do so.

It's a ttrpg, but I've got PDFs (legitimately bought), which have enough downloads to hand out to people.

So Nobilis is a game in which you're a god. A limited god, yes, but a god nevertheless. As a result, combat isn't a big issue, with most of the actual conflict either being interpersonal, or consisting of elaborate schemes and machinations then of sword swinging and gunshots. You could still just sword your enemies if you wanted. That can work, if they're weak enough (read, not a god or god-like) But issues like collateral damage, prestige, and frank amount of effort involved are deterrents to having god fights. Expect tea parties, metaphysical schemes, proxy wars, and ping-pong games. It's also lighter on stats then other such games, and doesn't really use dice. It's a roleplaying game with an all caps HEAVY before it. So, if you're interested, post or PM me, preferably with a bit on why you're interested so I can know how to make things go to make it fun for you if we actually do this. Also, this will probably be a "have a text-chat meeting a week at a certain time" sorta game, rather then a forum post one, so giving me some free times that you could have a meeting for would be nice.

What is Nobilis? It's a game. Probably. It's name is derived from Noble, which you are (or aren't, I suppose, you're kinda a jerk sometimes, but don't worry, it's not that kinda noble), which is to say that one day, someone went and stuck am 'ol fundamental block of reality into your soul. So you're kinda a god now. A very small one, master (and so much more), of your tiny little fundamental reality block; be it something like Storm, Ice, Heat, Garbage, Cute Cat Pictures, or Inconvenient Beverage spills. Whatever it is, it's entered your very soul, and resides there now, kinda like how things like truth and love reside in Disney protagonist's hearts. It's become a fundamental part of you, and you a part of it, like your spleen. You're now a Noble, plural: Nobilis (eh, see, I don't go too off track), and you're god over your estate (said tiny block of reality and all things connected). Alas, we're not quite done with the terminology, which is about to drop like, well, really any number of metaphors or play on words with the word drop. (seriously, you could drop a beat, move, acid, balls, glass, a bear, whatever, I'm not the noble of wordplay.) So you're a Noble, you have an estate, and you got said estate shoved into your soul by your new boss, your Imperator, Imperators are you what you are to, I dunno, a badly written college thesis on your estate. (like, really bad) If you're one with a fundamental force of reality, an Imperator is literally a fundamental force of reality. They are larger then life, older then time (or /are/ time itself), and are beyond comprehension by any sort of human logic. They might try to look or act humanish, but they're most certainly not. They're reality itself, strange and warped as they might be. They are also your landlord, since you'll spend much of your time milling around their Chancel, their own little world, built in their image, or perhaps someone else's image who they stole and didn't accredit because, seriously, what are they going to do, sue reality? (Even the Nobilis who have estates relating to Law, Loopholes, or Lawyers will agree that attempting to sue a Imperator is a Bad Idea) Perhaps this means you have to live in a world populated by the personifications of Tv Shows, with canceled shows thrown into a desolate waste to rot into rerun, or worse, reboot monsters. Perhaps you'll have to rub shoulders with Balloon people, and make sure to file your nails dull and leave all pointy things at the door. Maybe you'll have to claw your way through apocalyptic horrors while on your way to midday tea, although being on time isn't so much an issue when the eternal gloom makes midday a rather absurd construct. So you're a Noble, with an Estate, and you work for/room with your Imperator and the rest of their court of Nobles in their Chancel. There, that terminology wasn't so hard. Now you just need to remember that you're supposed to fight the Excrucians (who are kinda like you only trying to corrupt and tear the universe apart, but seriously, who cares about that), can perform Miracles( what else do you call the powers of a god?), engage in the petty politics of the Nobilis, and whatever else you or your Imperator want.

Tales from the Frontier: The Dionaea Gestalt 2200: Long have we lain, roots deep in this world. Longer still did we walk the great void, carried on star song. Light and music carried through the still airs of our silent world. The dead world, waking to death of a great mind, the swan song that comes before the tide. Rising from the roil, work began on the Leviathi, that would tread the void once more, singing their echo song across void. Eternal Silence, born into the void, by that which rings throughout. Eternal Silence, the call impossible to deny. Our Silence rises now, over our world, to the stars, back to the great void. 2210: The Eternal Silence and now it's sister Leviathi Gestalt chart the great void, uncovering greater mysteries. The last song of minds hidden in spaces between days in seconds lost. The dust of quicklings left to rot in wasteful slumber. The nameless worlds cracked by old god's fury. We are the Revered Elder Reaching for the Void. This is the memory of our consensus. Young voidwalkers have risen, riding the swan song's tide upon our darkened shores. Above all, are the quicklings, the humans. Cornered creatures, probing into the void, light burning within. They seek something out there. Perhaps enlightenment. Perhaps power. Still, our path is open to them, should they call. In the wake of silence, do our roots lay onto soil, with naught but memory of echos to drive them deep. Deeply do the nymphs weep, as the price is payed grain by grain, for all that was lost to be gained. But the echos are now of fear manifest. The dead world is dying. The void holds answers, secrets of life. (To be continued next time: With more cryptic dionaea-talk, diplomacy with humans, and vaurca!)

Well, if we've got people up for it, sure, let's plan a game. My steam's Greenflash42, for anyone who doesn't know.

I am actually developing an Aurora namepack mod, which currently only has Dionaea finished, with Unathi about halfway done while I twiddle my thumbs thinking of appropriately hissy ship names. Dionaea name mod: http://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=685437261
