  1. So, I enjoy writing flavour texts, and as a consequence of both that, and having written an awful lot of them, I'm decently good at it. However, I know that some people either can't be bothered writing flavour texts, or feel that they can't write one that's good enough. So, I'm putting this here for if people want me to write them for them. So, just like, answer the basic question below, and I'll PM you the result once I've done it. Disclaimer: I cannot guarantee when the text will be finished. I will try as quickly as possible, but like, ya know, life. Below are the basic questions. Just like, answer them basically. Human: Name; Gender; Age; Height; Weight; Build; Posture; Hair Style; Hair Colour; Eye Colour; Personality; Notable Features (Tattoos, Piercings, etc.); Accent Tajara: Name; Gender; Age; Height; Weight; Build; Posture; Hair Style; Hair Colour; Fur Colour; Eye Colour; Personality; Notable Features (Tattoos, Piercings, etc.); Accent Unathi: Name; Gender; Age; Height; Weight; Build; Posture; Horn Style (Refer to subnote please*); Scales Colour; Eye Colour; Personality; Notable Features (Tattoos, Piercings, etc.); Accent IPC: Name; Gender; Age; Height; Weight; Build; Posture; Screen Type; Chassis Type; Personality; Notable Features (Tattoos, Piercings, etc.); Speech Mannerisms Skrell: Name; Gender; Age; Height; Weight; Build; Posture; Headtail Details; Eye Colour; Personality; Notable Features (Tattoos, Piercings, etc.); Accent I don't do any other species, as Diona are bland, and I don't like, know anything about Vaurcra, nor do I want to really. I'll possibly update this later, depends on how much attention it gets. *I've forgotten how the Unathi's head stuff works, if someone could explain it that'd be appreciated Below is two examples of previously done flavour texts, both of my own characters.
  2. BYOND key: The Muncorn Character names: Lyanna Field, Kylal'Nyka Vlargak How long have you been playing on Aurora?: About 3 or 4 months. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: Because I always enjoy playing heads, and I'm expecting one of my characters to be promoted to head fairly soon, as well as the new character I wish to play being a head. Why did you come to Aurora?: My old RP server, Prospector, went to all shit so I left, and wanted a new server, so I came here. No regrets have been given. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: Yes, quite thoroughly. I've also played them previously on other servers. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: The point of roleplay is to immerse yourself in a character, being able to be that character and ignore yourself. In the HRP of Aurora, this means creating immersion for yourself and others, acting realistically, and having an enjoyable and unique character. Bad roleplay would be having characters that don't make sense, or are simply awful to play with in a realistic or fun environment. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: To set an example to other players, in both RP level and overall attitude towards the game. Without the heads being there, people would look to the other regular workers for examples, and that's a lot harder to do overall. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: To be whitelisted, a high level of Roleplay experience and ingame knowledge is needed, so being whitelisted sets an example to other players as a level of expected roleplay and gameplay knowledge. If the whitelist wasn't there, you couldn't rely on the HoS being competent, either at the game or in terms of RP ability. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Christina Noire Character age: 32 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): The daughter of a prominent trader, Nikolaus Noire, Christina has been a part of the trade most of her life. Born and raised in Mendell City, she attended law school and studied merchant law, graduating in 2539, she started work with her father in the shipping business. During this time, she worked with the company's legal team, as well as being a close associate with her father. Christina stopped work with her father to begin studying Human Resource management, and started work as a HR manager for a small mining station on the edge of Tau Ceti. From there, she started studying NanoTrasen regulations, in preparation of transferal to work onboard one of their stations. Having then taken a yearlong course on IA, she is currently pending approval for work as an Internal Affairs Agent, and possibly Head of Personnel as well, thought for the time being she has been allowed work as Quartermaster. What do you like about this character?: Christina makes for an interesting centre-point, for despite her stoic personality, there's a lot to her that doesn't show on the surface. On top of all that, she does a lot of outside work, notably the MA-SL, that can affect social and character interactions massively or minorly, making for an exciting game. What do you dislike about this character?: As they're still a fairly new character, there's a lot to them that I've simply not figured out yet, and the way she acts makes playing her a little boring from time to time. I'm just hoping I can work around all that, however. What do you think makes this character fit to be a head of staff?: She works consistently and well, and enjoys the work she does. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: I would rate my roleplaying at a reasonably high level. I've been RP'ing for over two years now, and constantly improving it over that period. Extra notes: Sorry about that Bio, it's awful. If you want the emplyoment records or whatever, those'll probably look a lot better. I'll get them done up and put a pastebin up if anyone wants it.
  3. So, having just gotten accepted myself, time to give some advice here. So, knowing that your character has an interesting backstory, there is still a need for a last name. If not for general rules, NT would generally want one for all employees, as it's awful for record keeping otherwise, and the like. So, yeah. Nearly all Skrell, with very, very few being an exception, follow in a scientific role in life, whether it be research, medicine or engineering. Whilst there will always be a few that do journalism, cooking or something else, they are still specialised in one way or another. That's not really a cultural thing either, it's more biological. If they were, say, raised by non-skrell it could hold ground with a jack of all trades, but with a traditional Skrellian background, not following the tradition would likely mean heavy ostracism. Now, I don't want you to completely change the character, nor their backstory, but the addition of this ostracism would be useful for the character as a whole, both for their personality and reasonability as a whole. Though, this could all be bypassed for the sake of a character, since it's still possible for it to happen, just very unlikely. So, how does Xamir react with other species? I'm presuming you know the basics of the relationships between the Skrell and other species, concerning the Glorsh Rebellion and the ongoing cold war with the Unathi. Considering the differences between Xamir and most other Skrell, what differences does he have with these? Other than that, this shows good potential. I'm all for development through practice, so I look forward to hopefully seeing this passed through.
  4. I have put thought into that, even if it's not written down. And, I'm still used to UT dates, where it's 2559, I'll go change that quick.
  5. Yeah, been busy with school recently. Gonna start writing up a more extensive backstory like, right now. Thanks for all the feedback man.
  6. Loow, like.. Yeah, I can't argue against any of those points. However, the reason for [name] being there was because I had made the backstory before I had finalised the name, and I forgot to replace it afterwards, and I have now done so. Secondly, the Bay wiki and the Aurora wiki neither have any useful guide for how to name Skrell, other than Aurora's saying to have the attachments, which isn't entirely useful when you can't make a proper name in the first place. If someone can direct me to somewhere I can find more accurate information on how to name them, it'd be very much appreciated. As for the age, well, I'm used to young characters honestly, it's a habit. The backstory I have worked on since I posted what's here, and it's fairly fleshed out now, and once I can I'll write it up and put some more into what's in the app. So, yeah. Thanks for pointing this all out, I'll do what I can to fix everything.

    Three Strike Rule

Like, I'm surprised this wasn't already a thing. I'm all for having this, it stops the constant shitters, from baldie to experienced shittler. I'm all for this, +1
  8. Yeah, it's on the short side because I, quite admittedly, made that character up as I was writing the app. I've now fleshed it out a bit more, and I can put that down if need be, but like, meh.
  9. BYOND Key: The Muncorn Character Names: Lyanna Field, Jeyne Kahale, Catherine Pierrsson Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character (Dionaea & IPCs exempt): Like, a nice turquoise, I was thinking. Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes, quite thoroughly. Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question Why do you wish to play this specific race: I've always quite enjoyed Skrell, and though I've never played them I've seen a fair few on other servers, back on Unbound Travels and the like. Also, there's a severe lack of any Skrell on Aurora, as in my month or so of playing here I have yet to see one to my current recall. So, I'd like to make some kind of dent in that, so we have some people playing what should be the second most populous race. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Skrell focus a lot more on intelligent thought and intellectual discussion than humans do, with very little interest in things other than that. They also have a hard time expressing emotions to other species due to the difficulties they have with Common speech, so that can lead to interesting RP, along with the differences of culture. Their interactions with other species, notably Unathi and Tajara, as they view them as inferior's in many aspects. Character Name: Kelal'Nyka Vlargak Please provide a short backstory for this character, approximately 2 paragraphs Born in 2413, Kelal'Nyka was raised in the capital city of Kal'lo by his parents, who both worked as medical researchers. Following in their footsteps, he went to on to study medical sciences and started off by specialising in the treatment of specialised cancers, even helping in the development of a new biological treatment for certain respiratory based cancers. At the age of twenty-four, they started work as a general biologist onboard a Federation Owned Vessel, and worked there for around four years. During this time they also started to delve into several different medical sciences, especially focusing on cloning technology. After their work for the Federation, they moved to the Nyx system and started to train and thus, work, in the development of advanced cloning techniques and memory altering techniques. After five years of working in cloning, they started work on a Federation owned military medical vessel, where they operated as a general medical practitioner, mainly dealing with cloning and cryogenic treatment. Kelal'Nyka continued work there for another year and a half, until February 2448, where they returned to Querr'balak to help his parents with their work, before helping them finish it and partaking in the unveiling and first practised test of the technology that happened at the start of June. They are currently pending transmission to a NanoTrasen owned vessel, as they still wish to pursue work in medical sciences. What do you like about this character? Whilst I quite admittedly made this character up whilst developing this application, they represent a Skrell that is devoted to their work, with a large amount of accomplishment already under their belt at quite a young age. The potential for some development is there for sure, and this is what I like to focus on and what I hope will develop into RP with many different people. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I would, without wanting to sound presumptive, rate my RP skill at being quite high. I've been roleplaying for a good solid 2 years now, and have been rapidly improving over that period. I've also mainly played very RP orientated positions, such as Psychologist, Bartender and Detective, so I've gotten a lot more exposure than a lot of other players that have played the same amount of time. Notes: Squishy squish.
  10. So, yeah, I'll happily +1 this. I can't vouch for his capabilities at all, but from what I've seen in my short time here he's dependable and plays constantly, and he's not a shitler. Combined together, he should be excellent staff material.
  11. Dawn is the best RP'er I've ever met, better than God himself. Her ERP skills are said to be legendary, and never have been beaten or even contested. This is all totally true, with no ounce of a lie even remotely involved. I'm being pressured into doing this, I have no choice. Plz help!
