Cargo Technician

Cargo Technician (4/37)

  1. Had some roleplay experience with him the round I just played in. He was a cool cmo, and did a good job of putting some personality in his character. He also seemed to know what he was doing fairly well, and overall seemed like he was doing fairly well in the CMO spot. I did hear one thing related to his job delegation that left me vaguely confused (but also, more importantly, acknowledging that he was trying to involve his department in things and delegating tasks to them that he needed done), but I didn't have enough details to make any judgments about it. Something virus related I think involving the biochemist?
  2. Don't we have a per-body-location-armor-summarizing system right now? Main concern for me personally would be to make sure radiation is still blocked as effectively as it is currently by hazard suits (aka we aren't dying to a supped up supermatter with a full hp radsuit), as those use the armor system (and they broke for a little while back with the last armor rework, which had introduced a null bug). A qualitative way of telling/examining how damaged armor is might also be helpful. E.g. "It looks fully intact, " "It looks slightly damaged," "It looks utterly destroyed" etc A secondary concern would be something along the lines of "a single bullet hole shouldn't make my [rad]suit 35% less effective at protecting my entire head and legs" situation.
  3. As an update... I finally had an opportunity to see you playing Riley, as a CE. I think you did fairly well. You definitely did a good job of a maintaining a humane character personality, helping story move along, and keeping the department coherent. The rest of any meaningful feedback is probably in my last post, which noted that I hadn't had an opportunity to see your newer character.
  4. I've mainly just played with jaxon ICly. I've had good interactions with him. You play an interesting character with a lot of personality who dives into a lot of the more obscure parts of engineering and generally know what you're doing, and do a good job of keeping your character's knowledge reasonably balanced. I can't make judgments on your new characters, since I haven't really been around to see them other than a little of Dexter, who was a bit too quiet for my tastes at the time. I think you'd make a good CE player on Riley, from what I've heard of the character. Jaxon was also were engineer of the year, so I assume you've gotten some good reputation floating around too. ?
  5. Sounds good. Have definitely seen him being well-involved the past week's rounds, and less uh... FIre chambery ? Some of the professionalism stuff's just my opinion of course, so you don't have to take it to heart too much. Accent is okay as long as it's intelligible/coherent, yeah. He's a cool character overall, I mainly wanted to mention my opinion of quirks that would look weird for someone being promoted to management staff. So, [insert cheesy +1 text here]
  6. I've also played with rakt and chatted with him in engi discord. He's chill and knows what he's doing. I think rakt as a character needs some work though to be CEable. Right now for me, you're still most memorable as the crazy guy with the weird accent buried in atmospherics trying to create a supernova inside inflatables and I think you'd need to tone down the accent and be just a little bit more cleaned up/professional (as in, like, your flavor text I recall sounding pretty dirty/unkempt/alcoholic) I also never realized rakt lost an arm. Heh. Edit I just had a pretty good round with rakt actually. The accent is still there but a little lesser it felt like, and he was more communicative and felt less buried-in-atmos.
  7. Know you were itching for feedback, so I'll go ahead and go with what I've had thus far. I've seen some good mechanics knowledge from you. You've definitely gotten used to fixing up malfunctioning supermatters at this point, and your engineering knowledge is okay. I don't think you'd make a bad CE. However, I do think you should make sure you learn everything up and down. Tesla. As you mentioned, you should probably become familiar with it before you're a CE, since I'd expect a CE to know their station, including the powergen. It's not actually that complicated, as a note. Atmospherics. You mentioned you're a lot more comfortable with atmos now. It's indeed not as complicated as you probably heard it was. Make sure you learn the advanced mechanics behind it and the functions and benefits/deficiencies behind the machines. Telecomms is a weird thing worth studying in a local server if you can. As a CE it's less of an issue, but make sure you don't meta stuff like a malf AI too hard, since it's an area that I've started to hear engineers shouldn't know much about the layout of. That round with engineering becoming checkpoint security was amusing. Nice example of doing well in a commanding position too. I think some more experience wouldn't hurt, but I do think you're a pretty good engineer and would do fine. Make sure your character's background meets qualifications for CE, too. I also do like that you're willing to admit if you don't know something rather than charge ahead. Just make sure you know enough that if you do find something you don't know and plan to ask about it, you don't look underqualified for the role.
  8. I've been happy with what I've seen. I thought you were already a CE in truth. Assuming your trial behavior stays consistent beyond that, +1 Oh, and English seems fine in general. Though only if you make private local servers and test assorted engineering mechanics in your spare time of course, cough cough
  9. Ah, I see! You should'a said so. I've seen it around a little. If I had feedback based on APEX I'd say to make double sure you check/follow your laws and adminhelp weird situations and to remember that most bound synthetics are more of a station product/tool than people. One thing I've seen is APEX giving out commands a bit often (in my opinion). I wouldn't expect my toaster to order me to take my toast out before it burns, for instance, but I might expect it to warn me that my toast is about to burn if I don't (if it's a sophisticated enough toaster anyway... just don't ask why it can't eject the toast and the anology holds just fine.). Stuff was generally okay besides that nitpick though. They're also my opinions and not so much rules or anything. Though, those things don't apply so much in IPCs but they're nice to keep in mind for stationbounds/in general. (Oh, a one off note that I'm not sure was you but I vaguely remember that it might've been so I just wanted to stick it here. If you ever turn on the filters in the supermatter room, make sure the filter is set correctly first. If the engineers put phoron in and it's still set to nitrogen, it'll remove the coolant.)
  10. You did ask for feedback the other day, I just didn't get around to posting at the time. I might be second post now, but I'll still leave most of what I had prewritten as-is. I honestly don't recognize most of your characters because I'm an engineering recluse and forget names a lot. I have seen TERA around once or twice though, but mainly in the bar, which I also am rarely near. I don't remember anything bad though, which is generally a good sign. I like that you pulled your slightly injured punpun to medbay in a round. On the different vs human thing. Be sure to act the part of a robot roleplay wise, though. They aren't really just humans in robot skins. Well, some might approximately be, but not all. I mention it since a lot of the things you mentioned were mechanics as opposed to rp differences. Like what was mentioned, I feel like your example character's story could use some sprucing/detail and maybe a few demonstrations of stuff from the lore. (you did mention it in the notes so I don't particularly feel bad mentioning so). Things like why did Zeng-Hu make an IPC and then set it loose on the world unowned (apparently? unclear?), for example. Overall not for nor against since I haven't really been around you much personally ingame (but I haven't seen anything bad), just giving some feedback since your thread's (mostly) been bone dry.
  11. My experience with your characters, memorably with JOI, have been positive experiences. JOI as a station unit made for a good synthetic. I also enjoyed reading your post, particularly the set of "would an IPC x" scenarios and JOVIA's history/timeline. In my experience, you do well talking and acting as a synthetic, so I think you'd make an excellent addition to the IPC arma-err, crew. Sometimes it can be easier to decide what to do in a difficult situation as an ipc. "My programming says I would never X" or "I would choose the more sentient person to save in situation Y" type of thing. I feel JOI may have been where I gained some of the inspiration to start using unit as a self-designation, as well. +1 On a side note that I hinted at, IPCs unite!... Whenever you calculate it is convenient to do so.
  12. I appreciate the simplicity and usefulness of Moltenkore's supermatter guide (which can be found here), and I am not attempting to replace it. For anyone who is interested in a more in-depth review of supermatter, I offer my guide on it. While I haven't included everything possible about the engine (doing so would take an absurd amount of time) I've attempted to make a guide that, after having read it in detail, should be helpful in setting up, saving, and ultimately, understanding the engine. You can view my guide here If you have feedback, feel free to post.
  13. Here is my opinion as someone who has never played as a security officer. Well, that's not strictly true, I was a security robot one single time before. I don't personally hate the security force and its members as a standard. There are three main times that I find myself wishing for a new security team. I will name them below and address the problems I see with them. I'm sure I could come up with better names for these, and better definitions, but, effort. The Warrior of Justice (read as: handcuff fetish) The Brute (read as: brings a nuke to a papercut fight) The Oblivious (Sometimes read as: Lone wolf; Often read as: I have a radio?) I have seen many good officers on aurora, and I have also seen times where improvements could be made. In my opinion, the playerbase has an extremely irrational disdain for the officers. I would assume it is to self-fulfill the stereotype about them if I had to make a guess. My most memorable negative experience is as follows. During a particular round, my character had been asked to open chemistry. While doing so, the chemist took the opportunity to force-feed me a pill of space drugs. I proceeded to roleplay halucinations, attacking the air with a crowbar, that sort of thing, and the other medbay staff eventually fixed my condition. On multiple occasions, I and several others informed security over the radio of what the chemist had done, seemingly to no response. The chemist also attempted to do this to multiple people and succeeded in a few other cases. During crew transfer on the shuttle, I saw the chemist collapsed down in a chair. When I went up to him, he punched my character in the jaw (which to begin with would be EOR conflict). In response, I passively grabbed him (in case he was injured, I wasn't going to spread his blood everywhere) and dragged him over to the security airlock on the shuttle. In response, the warden (read as: not an officer) opened the door, immediately flashed me, then dragged me into the security room. My repeated explanation that not only had the chemist punched me (which to begin with was in sight of both the crew and several on-lookers), but was also the one who had poisoned me earlier in the round, was completely ignored. On arrival, I was then dragged into the security holding area aboard central command. The chemist was never arrested. In fact, he laughed hysterically ICly at me while I was being arrested. The chemist was not a traitor and was self-antagging for the entire round. This would be an example of Warrior of Justice (no questions, only arrests), The Brute (no questions, only unnecessary force against an unresistant opponent), and The Oblivious (a lack of communication in radio earlier in the round, resulting in a criminal not being addressed properly, along with repeatedly maintaining ignorance of the chemist when directly informed). ----------- I don't have an opinion on the chart.
  14. Thtithik Pakseech. I feel like Thtithik (if it's the character I'm thinking of) spends too much time messing around with things (s?)he shouldn't. If (s)he's not an antag, (s)he should probably stay in his(er) department. If joining as an engineer, stay in engineering or be wiring solars or fixing stuff. I feel like most rounds I see Thtithik running off with Zah, doing something strange or illegal, and ending up being taken in by security, which is a little unnatural if it happens every shift. I can understand it if people are just trying to be rude ICly at you and you respond to it, but still, your character wouldn't be able to hold a station engineer position if they didn't do their job. One other thing. If you ever try to operate as interim chief engineer (or any departmental head really, even a quartermaster) (and assuming you're not an antagonist), maintain communications with the other engineers. Chief engineer is responsible for keeping the engineering team organized, looking after them, and making sure they do their jobs, not just for having an RCD and a fancy ass suit that makes it so that you can't carry metal with you. Aside from the slight ignoring of duty, your roleplay seems decent on its own. I think you could improve by making sure you fulfill the responsibilities of whatever your job is for the shift (antagonist aside, obviously). I feel like I've seen some of your other characters around occasionally, but not enough to make great decisions about them. I feel like I might have posted on another of your apps with something similar. -------------------- It would be great if you could use periods in your application instead of a million run-ons with commas everywhere. Grammar Nazi issue.
  15. Night That Shatters Days has been an engaging character from my experience, so approval there. From what I've seen, WHITEMANE is a decent character and you likewise roleplay decently on it. I'm a fan of the character type that's devoted to helping others. Constructive Editorial Feedback. Only read this if you do not mind grammar nazi stuff.
