  1. I would love to expand the utility of corpse mining. I want to mine corpses for limbs as well as organs. Now I get to say corpse mining even more frequently in-character! Corpse mining. Corpse mining. EDIT: Oh, and it'd be useful for re-attaching severed limbs, or for attaching cloned limbs, presumably from a protohuman or whatever.
  2. I would like to note that there have, in fact, been interactions between Rivette and other characters not related to romance. One glaring example is Karenza running up to a sobbing Lilac, punching her and taking away Lilac's toy monkey because she thought Lilac was the one that ripped its head off, and then drinking herself into oblivion when Lockie gave her a mild scolding and telling her to not jump to conclusions. I think it's a problem when a character's primary method of interaction with others consists of some variety of self harm. Especially when they are a head of staff. Although this incident is not directly relevant, it serves to demonstrate very wide reaching problems with Karenza as a character. I am quite confident in the abilities of Xander's IAA to resolve the situation ICly, provided that Callum complies with the IAA's decision, as the situation is exceedingly clear cut. It would likely involve something along the lines of a mandatory psychiatric evaluation (likely resulting in mandatory psychiatric hospitalization for 48 hours or more), in combination with some disciplinary action possibly extending to demotion. I do not see too many issues with McGrath as a character, personally, and I don't see them as being either the primary instigator or primarily responsible for the situation. McGrath is rather promiscuous, but they are emotionally and mentally stable to such a degree that any negative reaction at all will not push them to suicide or alcoholism. Edit: However, I do think Callum should attempt to make less unstable characters in the future, or at least make them maintain the bare minimum of functionality required to not be involuntarily admitted to a psychiatric hospital. EDIT2: Oh yeah, McGrath did try stealing Tina from Karenza. Whoops, that's a thing. Well, that's fine and dandy, but Karenza really should.. I dunno, maybe try to keep her personal and professional life separate, or maybe not react with suicide. How long had Karenza actually been dating Tina anyway? They barely even knew each other. They weren't living together. And yet Karenza, who barely knows Tina, is resorting to suicide and attempts it three times. She's not mentally competent to operate in adult society, let alone as a head of staff. Normal people are able to handle rejection without committing suicide. Of course we're not all playing normal people, but... well, past a certain point mandatory psych evals should really be handed out.
  3. I would very much like this. It would be easier to brainstorm with others. It would make it far easier to give feedback as well. Who would moderate it, the general forum staff? I think it would serve well as a place for players to also discuss changes they might want in the lore, since without that you're basically prohibiting people from giving any feedback that isn't positive.
  4. As one of the people injured by the EMP, (and the one playing the loudest-screaming wounded person) I don't see a problem with Golem's actions. Then again, I was also one of the people who was trying to subdue them, but again, they're surrounded by an angry mob. They basically decided to go out with a bang when it was clear they were going to die due to said angry mob surrounding them. I don't see much of a problem with it personally.

Well, I could do this for Lockie if she ever gets hit by an EMP. Seems like a good idea.
  6. ATLAS is composed of literal fascists, last I read.
  7. I'd like this, plus a higher agecap for humans along with the higher Skrell agecap.
  8. +1 Please god let me see this character aboard the station. I think they would be a wonderful addition. This is one of the best backstories I have ever seen. I have not yet seen someone take a Diona in this direction and would just love to see what would happen. JohnnyMnemonic is a great roleplayer, I'm very interested in their characters, and I'm sure they could pull off this character well.
  9. For Earthbound ones, you could probably use the name of an existing university in many cases. They'd probably be pretty old by that point.
  10. The majority of my misbehavior was me ranting over OOC without them present, which I apologize for, as well as a handful of posts in the lore applications subforum. Aside from the single incident over pager with Jackboot (which, again, I apologize for), I have not sent harassing PM's, pages, or messages to the lore team on the forum or via third party means. I made a handful of posts criticizing Imatool in the lore subforum. Of the times lore members were there over OOC, there was the incident with Skrell. I can't recall any others off the top of my head. What I did in OOC, previous to my talk with Skull, is not excusable. The OOC misbehavior has ceased. Outside of the early incident (which I apologize for Jackboot), there was no intentional campaign of harassment. Primarily it was me ranting like a jackass. Given Xander's continued misbehavior in OOC following the end to this behavior, claims of recent harassment on their part are of more than dubious veracity. It was before the talk with Skull. Skype logs can confirm. As can OOC logs, I suppose. It was likely about a week, maybe more, maybe less, before the talk. I would very much like to bury the hatchet. I am quite sure I could have productive discussions with Jackboot and Xander. I have already had productive discussions with Xander. Prior to his latest outburst, I thought I had buried the hatchet with Xander, and they had explicitly said as much themselves. I would very much like to resume some manner of civility in OOC. I will not engage in further misconduct, as I have already told Skull days prior to this complaint being posted. I would also like to acknowledge that I was not all that productive previously as a member of the lore team. There are many stupid decisions I've made. I would like to move beyond those and would like to make clear that I have at least somewhat changed.
  11. Please point to this build-up from Nursie Kitty criticizing the lore team on the forum, as you were the one whom you had your initial outburst against. You are not under-siege from me. I joined the discussion others started. My words did not justify your actions. Legitimate criticism of the lore should not be met with such overreaction. I have owned up to my mistakes. Your words did not justify me baiting you. I just think you need to acknowledge the fact that you blew up without justification against unrelated members, and against others. My actions were perfectly in line with those of others in that conversation. Make a complaint against Nursie if you feel she provoked you in some way, as she was the one whom you started cursing at.
  12. What I did immediately after my rejection was me being an asshole, straight up. In OOC in the game, and in pager with Jackboot. The comments posted by Delta were me being an asshole, straight up. I apologize for that. That was, rather blatantly, me being an asshole. I do not see the recent incident as being at all in line with my earlier behavior. Allow me to post logs of the incident immediately preceding the posting of this complaint. As well as a screenshot. I have kept logs myself of many of the rounds I have played. List the dates and I can give logs if you so desire. Below are logs of the conversation relating to the recent change in IPC lore. Note the discussion, which I did not start, and the disagreement with Xander, which I did not start. This was the initial portion of the exchange. Note that my tone is not that of someone engaging in harassment. Also note that I joined a conversation Xander himself started. The first ones to raise issues were not me. Nursie Kitty was the primary conversation partner before I joined and continued being so. This was the first instance of hostility, on the part of XanderDox, in response to Nursie. Not me. This conversation was not started by me. I was not the only one who cared. Adeno, NursieKitty, and MasterZipZero all expressed opinions, and I do not appreciate that an admin decided to completely misrepresent me. XadnerDox was the one to initiate hostilities, the one to continue to escalate, and the one who ultimately, almost on their own, got OOC muted entirely through their own hostility. I did not engage in harassment in this instance. I engaged in a conversation started by others. I am not the only one who was 'nitpicking' and the idea that I was is entirely false. Instead XanderDox engaged in a rather hostile attitude in OOC. If they are attempting to characterize this as my harassment, that is a falsehood. I am actually disappointed and believed that Xander and I had come to an understanding. I had a rather amicable discussion with them over pager recently. It's not like I was acting out of hostility in this instance, and my behavior was perfectly in line with that of player NursieKitty. In no way do I want hyper-realism. In no way do I want hard science fiction. I would like to discuss aesthetics. I would like to contribute creatively. I see the current lore as something which ignores the desires of many people in the playerbase. I only decided to re-apply to the lore team once I saw that several players would prefer me being on the lore team, since I saw them as being ignored and wanted to represent them. I have seen many people criticize the current lore philosophy. (I'll actually reply to JB's posts directly in a follow-up thingy) I had a talk with Skull about my recent behavior and my blatant assholery. Since then, I'm not quite sure how else I've been an ass. Maybe in my description of the manticore recently in OOC? I did not purposefully go into OOC with the idea of baiting you. I posted a comment. Then you decided to tell me to "shut the fuck up" and curse at me repeatedly in response to an innocuous comment. I continued discussion. I even stated what I liked about the current lore. Note I have since actually changed my mind on the subject matter. Once I started using "Bro" I decided to just go and egg you on. That was not good, this entire incident was me being an insensitive asshole. I would also, however, expect that people refrain from exploding in OOC into a storm of cursing with little provocation. This was us both being assholes. I do not view the recent exchange in OOC as being in line with my assholery there. I had no intention of baiting Xander. I had no intention of engaging in hostile conversation. This is evident in my conduct.

..But organs don't have a tech origin. Presumably these would be bio-engineered. At least, that's the one that would most easily explain how they get naturally occurring radio waves.
  14. I think the problem is more with how quickly various injuries kill people.

    Seconding this.
  16. This was done on another forum I frequent. However, after a bit the like system was updated so you can now give a number of different ratings to posts. IE, "Like", "Informative", "Insightful", "Hugs", and "Funny". However, even just a simple one-rating 'like' system would be better than nothing at all. Here is an example of the system in action,in a thread discussing the merits or lack thereof of said ratings system. I think it's important that you be able to see who liked a post as well.

You could probably do that with an MMI-style adapter mechanism. Alternatively, the biologist could try to modify the organ with their own equipment so that it becomes compatible with another species. This could function on a similar principle to the difference between normal insulated gloves, tajaran insulated gloves, and unathi insulated gloves. Upon initial extraction, the organ is marked as Skrell compatible, and only Skrell can use it. Then the biologist can mod it to switch which species it's compatible to. This is way easier to explain. It can also be used to express that the Skrell are an advanced alien society. However, see below for why I think making it a bio-engineered symbiote would make even more sense and help even more with distinguishing the Skrell and expressing their background and history in-game. If the symbiote is the result of Skrell biotech, then I think this could be the best explanation. I've looked up some stuff onbiological radios and general consensus seems to be that they'd be pretty shitty and imprecise. This fits absolutely perfectly with the idea that the Skrell's transmissions are limited to simple emotions. Furthermore, by making it a biologically engineered symbiote, you're expressing that the Skrell are a technologically advanced species, especially in the field of biotech. Furthermore, you still get to express a rich/poor divide here. This fits perfectly with the idea of them being amphibians. Amphibians are more vulnerable to environmental toxins due to their more absorbent skin. The Skrell also reproduce in large groups. In combination with the limited diets of the Skrell and the likely problems with protein deficiency due to malnutrition, they would have a huge impetus to develop more advanced biotech. We could also give them a more metal-poor world to further explain this. Or, if you want the Skrell to have these radio-things in their ancient history, you could make them be the result of some ancient Skrell precursor civilization which ended up destroying itself (this can be explained by some apocalyptic event, probably related to the Skrell vulnerability to environmental toxins). This would have an interesting impact upon the Skrell homeworld (IE making it more metal poor, depletion of most easily accessible fossil fuels), not to mention the social implications of having these bio-radios around throughout their history. Much of their history could simply write itself. I'd imagine that fire would be more dangerous to the Skrell. They're amphibians and drying out is dangerous for them. Also, their defenses against fungal and bacterial infections is lower due to their absorbent skin, and since the main source of fatalities due to burns is, by far, infection, it's probably not going to do them any favors there. I caaan actually see that. What if we scrub the whole Asari shit, and just have it Skrell specific? At that point, the basic hold is retained: the Skrell will come across as emotionless husks, because only they themselves can see the colourful seizure inducing colours. I'd go for this. It's easier to explain, and it's better for the aesthetic. You can always justify the 'emotionless' thing by simply having Skrell express themselves differently, too. Maybe they have extremely emotive voices, but much of this is beyond human hearing range. Maybe they use their tentacles to express themselves, and their faces are far less articulated than human faces.
  18. In such a case, it would be better to add features by introducing hacking and information warfare elements to the game, thus making it more interesting, rather than declaring that all IPC's are hereby composed entirely of tinfoil and duct tape.
  19. I really like an idea like this. Maybe just. Shift the proportions slightly, so they're slightly... off, from what huamns have. Like maybe the Tajarans have abnormally long forearms or something. And maybe different numbers of fingers. And maybe one or the other could have abnormally long, slightly creepy fingers.
  20. At first I was upset. But then I realized. I don't actually like most of these names. And you still accept new organizations I assume. AHA! YES! TIME TO MAKE A NIGERIAN AND CONGOLESE MEGACORP!
  21. I would also like this very much. Prosthetic bodies ftw. +1
  22. It's not like getting one's arms cut off is anywhere near permanent, so there's also that to consider when taking into account whether the behavior is 'reasonable'. We got cloning now. If NT fucked up bad, they can just pay to get you some new arms or whatever, and then claim that you gained the injury in the process of being captured. On a more relevant note, I've never seen Phoebe go out and pursue antags. And my main character, Lockie, is like one of her best friends. Phoebe mainly just seems to verbally press for biopsies or other such things. She simply lacks the physical abilities to actually physically go after antags. She's like a 4"10' doctor, she's not exactly the picture of physical intimidation, and Nursie plays her that way.

Perhaps it could be due to their augments. After all, they are an advanced species, with advanced medical technology; this would help to emphasize that.
  24. It is on topic as it relates to the merits of this idea. I think it lacks merit, and depth.
  25. Sure thing. Primarily, I just didn't want the thread to be locked.
