"Now. I've aware that small part of your community consists of autistic three wheeled cars, but that has very little to do with anything now does it?" Don't even know what you're going for there buddy. If you wanna say you're gonna play nice and be nice, I don't think saying things like that is a good way to get that point. Maybe I misunderstand but I've never seen autistic used as a compliment or a friendly poke. Whatever your point even is regarding that I don't really care. As for the rest of your point, I get it. I've taken the jokes and all that but when I'm gone for a weekend and half the community is nipping at Nanako's ankles or nipping at each other or just generally being disrespectful. Bright's whole mess and then just everything in general where the community has acted like you are now. You act cruel and shoot jokes and when people poke at you back you raise your hands and say "hey man I'm just playing." It took me making a thread and asking other staff to get your head out of wherever you decided to stick it for you to make a half-hearted apology where you essentially just tell me to learn how to get over it. Or "lighten up." And I'm tired of it. Regardless, I'm not Nanako's friend. But I've been in a position like hers. Watching her Head application be met with vote after vote of saying no kinda sucked. She took it in stride and I hope she improves, but it doesn't seem like she can catch a break anywhere. I can't speak for her nor will I claim to know what her current reaction to any of this is. But. It's just this cycle. The complaints section is unsurprisingly just full of so much salt between the community and the salt spills over here or there and there's players who have no respect for others. It took me asking Gollee to talk to you for you to take this seriously and quit joking around and you're not the only one who acts like that. To sum up my point and I hope you bothered to read any of this but I'm just tired of a continuing cycle of people being just complete dicks to people who aren't even in their friend circle and just mouthing off "'s just a joke bro" in whatever variation they prefer. I don't know what staff standards are but I expect staff to act more mature than antagonizing people for the sake of a joke. So forgive me if these are unrealistic desires, but I've had it and now I want to do something instead of pretend it's fine. I don't want a hug box. I want people to grow up and act like something other than a parrot that spouts off insults every chance it gets like all its friends. I don't think that's unreasonable.

I'm still playing on it; I was going to help Boyd but they handled it themselves kinda? Also allow formal alliances and shorter turns please. Formal alliances is nice for helping allies without stomping their ships on accident.

Yeah. If this is feasible, it's the optimal solution. Coding might suck, it might not, I don't remotely know how coding works besides simple stuff. I could tell you what a code probably does but as for making it no. If this is possible and not super hard, it has my full support, as I use Skype and love sprinkling in ** and __ for effects.

Faction Name: Faeliid Empire Faction Leader: Sylvia Roseelt Faction's Government Type: The government system is primarily a theocratic empire. Rulers are decided by the acting High Priestess and a month-long commune with the gods, selected from a pool of candidates. Class does not seem to have a pattern within these selections, resulting in reduced corruption. Rulers last until their natural demise, Generals are appointed by the acting Emperor, and High Priests are chosen among eligible Cardinals as a majority vote among those of higher faith. Empress Sylvia General Maelai High Priestess Vaelora Cardinal(s) Baelo, Maessoli, Eirye, Loisua, Nalenu Short/Long Description/History: The people of the Faeliid were in dark times after the fall of modern industries and technologies. Nothing seemed unified and all was chaos, unrecorded history and civil wars were common in these times. Then, a unifying force was found in the Kaeliis, the Spirit that guided all of their kind. The Spirit spoke to them, granting Her blessing to specific individuals among their race, promising that they would be the ones to lead them to glory. Splinter factions did not abide by these terms, but it was the main unifying force in their race. As influence grew, as did stability, and with time, the Faeliid recovered from the fractured worlds and stars. Now, they have recovered in full strength, promising their people and other races sanctuary from the harsh, cold environment of the void. For they believe Kaeliis is the one guide, the one true seer to returning to greatness. Kaeliis, with Her glory and wisdom, will birth life to the stars once more with Her seed, and once again shall the stars hum with warmth and beauty as they were meant to be.

It's not even just you, Skull. You were what sparked my "what the hell is going on" but honestly it's not just you. I spoke to Gollee about names and you can speak with them about it if you desire to amend the situation. It's not just you, and it's a collective of the community dwindling and picking out people who their personalities grate with. And grate and grate and they yell and bitch at each other and I'm not even going to be proper in my argument anymore this is just.. it's ridiculous. It really is. People getting sassed or antagonized and it's played off as a joke and nobody thinks anything of it, everything's just a joke or an issue not worth bothering with and when anyone brings it to light in the complaints section it fucking explodes. It's getting ridiculous. The only reason I called you out was because it was disheartening to see you get snappy, as it just.. made me pessimistic about the standard people are held to. Is that fair to say? No, probably not. But when even staff are involved in the antagonism (and I have listed names to Gollee of those I have found to be bothersome) it makes me lose a bit of hope for the community treating each other like people instead of idiots.

1. I really don't think they'll get anywhere if it's anything like the one's I've been watching. I think more nothing would happen and players would chastise me for my "hurt fee-fee's". The only reason I'm not making specific complaints is I really don't have remotely enough for any action to be taken and I'd rather not make an ass of myself to specific people. I'm not sure how to go about getting anyone even warned for things that most staff or players would just write off as a joke or playful hostility. 2. See above. 3. Even satire can be hostile and offensive. Namely the Lesbay shit, my sexuality being a joke isn't that great and I really don't think I'm ever going to get anyone to cut it out. The rest of it doesn't really seem like satire, just people being cunts to other people (see: basically half of the shit people say to Nanako) and I don't know. Maybe I'm taking everything too seriously, but I've been fucked with a lot of my life and I'd like to say I understand the line between playful chiding and restrained or full hostility.

It's seven in the morning and I really don't have the time to make a rant post that might get ignored but would it kill you guys to have like... some amount of respect for each other? Seriously, even staff are chewing players out and being hostile, it's getting and has been ridiculous. Somehow it's gotten even worse lately and honestly, would it seriously kill any of you to have a decent amount of empathy and learn not to cuss or chew each other out every thirty minutes?

I feel this would be the better of all of the alternatives that have been listed so far. It gives the players control over something that they traditionally just have to use all caps for. It brings emphasis and is grammatically correct to do while still highlighting something that's supposed to stand out from the rest of the text. While I don't think it's a perfect solution, as all bold shouting would be more annoying in my eyes than just using caps, it's one that will get more solved and done than the other ones, in my eyes. I'd definitely be using this if it was implemented, and I imagine others would use it as well, since it definitely has its place in the roleplay setting.

Remove Yell and Shout from exclamation mark speech verbs.
Lucychan42 replied to Nanako's topic in Archive
Okay. First of all, what in the world happened to where everyone is suddenly being disrespectful to each other? With Head Admins immediately shooting down and being entirely condescending to someone for having the belief that something isn't represented properly. Nanako is being respectful and attempting to give her point of you and you're speaking to her as if she has no clue what she's saying and it's appalling, Skull. I don't know what's gotten into you or this community to where suddenly everyone's nipping at each other's ankles for the mildest transgressions. Is a little respect for each other too much to ask of people? The only "mature" part of this community lately seems to be the mutual hatred for "overdone" sexualities (there hasn't been a day where someone doesn't complain about lesbay). As for how interactions between each other are handled, I couldn't claim that any of it would be mature. Even in your signature, "homo homini lupus est", your little quote, in my eyes you've failed to uphold such that standard. You act like she's being aggressive and speak to her like it's a personal offense that she wants something done about it. It's getting ridiculous now that even a head admin is doing this; it was bad enough when others were doing it (I'm not even going to bother naming them because the community knows who they are by now) but now it's getting absurd. As for the actual discussion, I feel this is on the right issue but in the wrong direction. The other topic, http://forums.aurorastation.org/viewtopic.php?f=18&t=6027, is far more adequate for what we're desiring. There have been plenty of times where Aerianna is just plain pissed off or scared and screaming, and rather than add some mild exclamation point at the end of a message in general comms that might get ignored in the rest of the chaos, I use all caps because it does exactly what Nanako said. It emphasizes it, it brings attention to it; it isn't grammatically correct, no, but there isn't exactly another option for bringing more pull and emphasis toward something when everyone else is already screaming in Comms. And it's annoying that you think of that as if it's a terrible thing. I'm not going to be dramatic and say you think it's the worst thing in the world, but it's a bit frustrating that you seem to condemn doing that at all. It's a valid tool for bringing emphasis and if you desire to deny any other option for bringing emphasis or even suggestions to change how emphasis is done (such as this, where ! places emphasis in the wrong way with chat verbs), then I'm not sure what exactly you're wanting. People are trying to give alternatives to all caps and it seems irresponsible to deny them if you are concerned with people using the methods they currently have available. I don't know what's gotten into the community because I don't want to claim this has been this way forever, but goodness, a little respect for each other, especially from the staff which should be at a higher standard, would be a wonderful thing to have. -
Yeah, it's not terrible if someone knows about it. It's canon that Aerianna knows about it and she's informed that it's just deactivated. Rather than be nosy and investigate, she just went with that. Whether or not it is active doesn't matter much because she's confident that it has a purpose for being there and that it's extremely well guarded like everything else in the vault. So it isn't the worst thing if people know about it. The only people capable of actually doing anything with it are antags that have the sole purpose of activating it, the captain who will likely never have intent of activating it, and the malf AI who frankly can already know and see everything about the station anyways.

Should I add Optimal Chemistry Recipes to the Chemistry Wiki Page?
Lucychan42 replied to Nanako's topic in General
I think the absolute basics should be given, but any advanced combinations should be learned on their own for optimal optimization. With the basic recipes on the wiki, people can learn how to start thinking in terms of optimization. It's quite easy to just start lumping in reagents until you finally make it, but if a few basic optimal recipes are listed then not only can they be made easily, but now new chemists know how to start thinking in terms of optimization. -
Squeezed in at the last second. Boy am I terrible at grand strategy games I'm gonna get curb stomped.

Things I hate:

Every two weeks (15 days) would be a year for the game. Arguably, what could be done for ease of understanding time is create a command like "calendar" and it pips back the date in dd//mm//yyyy : hh//mm//ss And it's tied into a server side clock that updates on its own like the one already in place. It'd just have a command to spit out the date and time, or even having that already accessible in the Stats tab.

Alright! I have a band banquet on Saturday and I might be leaving at around 6:30, I'm not sure of the exact time. It would be safest to do it on Sunday but if everyone could manage an earlier time it'd be wonderful. I hope I'm not the only person with this, I always feel bad being the one bugger who had scheduling issues.

I honestly like this idea. I've always taken SSD as work fatigue and this would reinforce a lot of IC concepts. Food, holo deck, SSD, medical procedures not taking four minutes but hours instead. I thought I wouldn't like the idea when I started reading it but now that I think about it so much stuff would make much more sense. People needing sleep might catch a wink or two in downtime, et cet era.

The only antagonist Aerianna has ever felt "safe" around is Vampires. And that is only because when she's there dealing with one, it's because she's trying to keep them sedated and restrained so any escape attempts piss her off more than startle her. As for other antagonists? You bet your ass Aerianna isn't tough. One round I came in immediately and was taken as a hostage barely out of the shuttle. It was actually kind of fun and Aerianna complied, fearing for her life and pleading that she'd do everything the antagonist wanted. She wasn't some tough girl, she was scared out of her damn mind, begging to not be killed. My point is it's reasonable to have a mob courage of "let's keep each other safe!" but it's far from reasonable to bum-rush the antagonist and try to validkill them and play hero. People aren't heroes often in real life, and more often than not they end up dead because they got shot by the criminal. Definitely adminhelp if some snowflake is pretending he has balls of brass and an entire army behind him. They'll get handled. Admins aren't there to look pretty, they're there to improve the quality of roleplay by ensuring that everyone is maintaining a good roleplay environment.

Throw "no antag inclusion" for incident/CCIA reports into the garbage
Lucychan42 replied to a topic in Archive
I agree with Sue, as well. There isn't a standard protocol for "holy fucking shit someone is bombing the station/some guy is eating people and shapeshifting/what the hell is this guy a wizard or some shit/etc." And frankly, because the rounds aren't canon that means it's always a surprise, something the characters haven't ever seen before. Imagine never experiencing an act of terrorism and suddenly you're trapped on a station with a who-knows-how-equipped terrorist that's skilled and deadly enough to kill multiple people. You'd freak the hell out in most circumstances; sure you can be strong and do your job, Aerianna is terrible with containing her emotions but she does her job well regardless. There's only so much that can be reasonably done. Do I think there's things worthy of punishment? Yes. An incident where the warden and half of security harassed a doctor for forgetting soporific was extremely unprofessional of them, and I wish a report could have been filed for that. But there are also situations where it's more reasonable to give them the benefit of the doubt regarding having to contain or survive supernatural and/or hostile forces. tl;dr Some slack should be given for situations that are essentially hostile and unknown scenarios. But. All staff, security, engineering, medical, service, command, research, they should be held accountable if they react in a way that escalates or worsens the situation, or otherwise fail to do their duty in a way that is extremely negligent. A security officer being on edge and being a bit flash-happy is fine, to me. That same officer harm-batoning anyone who threatens them is not okay. An engineer messing up the engine? Don't let him set it. An engineer opening vented areas with no regards to the damage to other station areas? He should probably have a nice long talk about how pressure works. Medical staff that fails to respond to a situation? If it was dangerous, well duh, they don't have defense and bringing a saw isn't exactly in character for anyone. Same medical staff charging into a hostile situation with a saw? Remind him what security is and what his actual job is supposed to be. I can keep listing them but you get my point. There should be some leeway but if neglect of duty or unnecessary escalation results, some effort should be into keeping the situation as "there was some terrorist on the station but security was so on edge the honestly did more harm than the terrorist." Aerianna has had canonized events but I just keep it so vague that nobody can gain any useful knowledge other than Aerianna's own experience. Either that, or she has dreams about the situation. Of course, she never learns anything from them; she doesn't ever know what a "Nar'Sie" is or that vampires are real. But she does have the baseline concept of "okay that's not normal, what's going on" that most characters have, if not further. tl;dr 2: Some situations should warrant a report, and it is entirely possible to keep it vague. Aerianna calls traitors "Terrorists", the existence of Xenobiology could rationalize some antagonists existing but those involved are ordered to keep silent or hell, wouldn't surprise me if NT had a way to alter memories and erase them entirely to avoid a panic once the situation was resolved. Two birds with one stone, yeah? -
Sort of getting to Burs' point, Nursie isn't at fault for anything here. She has done her job as she was asked to do and hasn't overstepped any boundaries. Players expressed distaste for actions taken by Garbage's Vaurca and she responded in an appropriate manner. I admit to being guilty of it, but we should come to that conclusion of Nursie doing her job and any discussion of Garbage's own fault with Vaurca should be discussed in a separate complaint. I feel it's been established that Nursie has done her job appropriately and within respectable levels. Unless someone has significant evidence to the contrary, I feel this should be closed and any further discussion be taken to more appropriate threads.

I was part of that issue and observed it as "Panther", a Tajaran Pirate during that round. Quite simply, you seem to believe that if a drone ever thinks someone is threatening them it gives you the excuse to immediately valid them regardless of the situation. The tensions were already high. We had lost members already, made little progress due to a series of unfortunate events, and we went through trouble to get the equipment we were missing. So when your Vaurca stated it didn't want to do missions and would have desired to keep growing food, Rubyscales was reasonably pissed and threatened to kill the Vaurca if it was seriously going to waste their time and, as the Vaurca stated "retire from the pirate life." Whether or not it was a joke, the same could be said for Rubyscales, but more of in a threatening response. Regardless, the escalation of violence from any threat is absurd and I can't see how you find Nursie or anyone else at fault for questioning your actions. Vaurca or not, a threat isn't always a promise, and if you would react by hunting or killing people if they so much as say something funny, I believe you shouldn't be playing a Vaurca, bound or unbound. You're not supposed to try and mutiny and kill the Raider captain because he hurt the Vaurca's feelings. That would've ruined the entire round if you had succeeded, and even then it caused a delay of having to tend to the captain medically after you inflicted serious head wounds. My point being, you shouldn't be holding anyone accountable but yourself. Attempted murder because a pissed off pirate overlord made a threat to you shows you likely shouldn't be an antagonist if you would happily sabotage and ruin the round in favor of having a Vaurca that overreacts, and also that you shouldn't hold Nursie or anyone else accountable for the actions you are deciding to take. My advice is to hold off on playing a Vaurca until you can find ways to react to situations without immediate attempted murder or revenge sabotage, as well as to stop blaming others when they find issues with your roleplay decisions.

Sierra's feedback thread, since everyone else is doing it
Lucychan42 replied to SierraKomodo's topic in Character Stories
Totally didn't forget to remake the post! Samantha Black seemed to be quite a strong and helpful character once I had my own impression of her. Rumors were that she was just cruel and loved paperwork and making life hard, but that didn't seem to truly be the case after a while. Once Aerianna interacted with her, it seemed very likely instead that Samantha merely took her position very seriously and sought to create an organized and fluid medbay. Aerianna would have grown to like her in time, I feel, because she definitely gave off a professional air that did inspire Aerianna to try and improve herself. It wasn't intimidating so much as it was just an image to aspire to in Aerianna's eyes. As for the autopsy, Aerianna didn't inform Samantha about her friendship with Manfred and merely reacted in a naturally shaky way. And regardless, Aerianna did have a job to do, so she couldn't decline her duties. To sum up my point, I feel Samantha Black was an excellent character. -
If I'm not supposed to post here feel free to move my post or tell me where to put it. The new forums isn't the kindest to mobile users, at least, not my own mobile (iPhone 5S, Safari browser). It's hard to read things with how everything is formatted, posting replies is awkward, it's hard to tell when a new post was made unless I check the times of the last post, and then some minor issues. I don't know much about coding so I feel bad for bringing it up when I can't help. If you're working on the design already then thank you! If not, then it's something I'd like to make known.
