  1. Got myself an Avenger and a placeholder RP organization that I'd like to expand in the future. Eager to see how the game turns out. Hell, maybe we can set something up if more people have the game.
  2. I'd like to know when i lied to admins? You told Skull you had the captain's authorization for extended sentences when questioned about a prisoner's relatively lengthy sentence, when the logs demonstrated that you did not. That's how it happened as far as I recall, in any case.
  3. Regretfully, I have to say that I do not believe the candidate in question is fit for a Head of Staff position as things currently stand. During my fairly numerous encounters with him, I've personally witnessed him mistreating prisoners (giving someone /sixty/ minutes of brig time for insulting him and then wrongfully muzzling the detainee in question), being an absolute pain to his fellow officers, lying to administrators and generally being both ICly and OOCly hostile when confronted about his mistakes, while also demonstrating an absolute failure to understand SOP and how the standard brig time for each charge works. Due to the reasons outlined above, I'm going to have to give this application a -1 until I see some major improvements in the applicant's behavior and performance, both IC and OOC.
  4. Basic Information Byond Account: Doomberg Character Name(s): Avery Dawkins, William Stamos, Sawyer Stafford AI Name(s): N/A Preferred means of contact (specify a program/means, exact details can be requested/provided through private channels): Steam, Skype Age: 19 Timezone: GMT +2 When are you on Aurora?: Whenever I'm not at college or busy with college-related work, basically. It's a bit of an odd schedule: First two days of the week are usually full, so I'm only around in the evening. I can reliably pop on from 15:00 to 23:00 for most of the rest, however. I end up sticking about during dead hour pretty frequently, as well. I'm completely free every other weekend, and can be expected to show up for a good amount of hours. Experience How long have you played SS13?: It's been over three years by now, on and off. How long have you played on Aurora: I believe it totals up to roughly two months. How much do you know about SS13 (Baystation build) game mechanics?: I know enough to get by comfortably. I'm familiar with every department, though I confess that the finer aspects of the game - such as atmospherics, genetics and telecomms - do elude me. Do you have any experience moderating for an SS13 server?: I'm partly familiar with the verbs themselves, as I assisted a group of friends with their tragically short-lived RP server project. Most of my actual moderation/administration experience comes from other roleplay platforms, however. Have you ever been banned, and if so, how long and why?: Never, and I intend to keep it that way. I miscalculated a brig timer once (I'm still only human), but I corrected that issue once it was brought to my attention. Personality Why do you play SS13?: I used to play it for the sake of the gameplay itself. Nowadays, I play it due to the roleplay environment it offers. Why do you play on Aurora?: I play on Aurora because it's one of the few (if not the only) SS13 RP servers I've actually come to enjoy a great deal. I appreciate the community and the way things are handled here. What do moderators do?: The way I see it, moderators aren't here just for the purpose of blindly enforcing a set list of rules. The duty of a moderator is to encourage appropriate player conduct while ensuring that each player connecting to the server, new or old, has an appropriate environment to roleplay in and someone to turn to for assistance whenever that may become necessary. What does it mean to be a moderator for our server?: Being a moderator here means fulfilling the obligations outlined above while being an example of good conduct for the average player. Why do you want to be a moderator?: I want to be a moderator for the sake of helping the community out. It's that simple. What qualities do you possess that would make you a good moderator?: I like to believe that I'm a very patient person, and have a good degree of common sense. I try my best to be polite and friendly in most situations. Most importantly, I believe that I'm a pretty reasonable person, which is a trait that I find to be a necessity for people in positions such as this one. I'm also annoyingly self conscious about most things, though I might not show it most of the time. How well do you handle stress, anger, or insults?: I'm generally pretty good at ignoring any insults/rage that might be tossed my way. I'm particularly used to stress from my days admining on certain other games, and I'm unlikely to do anything drastic or inappropriate due to it. Furthermore, I play security/command most of the time - being used to taking insults is practically mandatory in that field. Anything Else You Want to Add: I'm not much of a forum person, hence the terribly low post count.
  5. +1. From what I've seen, he's corrected the whole uniform issue and, in my experience, is a competent enough warden. Everyone makes mistakes - I say give him a shot.
  6. BYOND key: Doomberg Character names: Avery Dawkins - Warden William Stamos - EMT Sawyer Stafford - Xenoarchaeologist How long have you been playing on Aurora?: About a month thus far. Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?: I'd like to be on the whitelist in order to expand my roleplay possibilities, along with offering a much-needed command presence occasionally, as this is often lacking. Why did you come to Aurora?: I came here in search of a decently active Space Station 13 RP server that I didn't find cringe-worthy or generally distasteful. I'd like to stay because I think I've found it, and I thoroughly enjoy it. Have you read the BS12 wiki on the head roles you plan on playing?: I have. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions in a paragraph each. Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about: As I see it, roleplay is getting into the role of a fictional character for the sake of wish fulfillment or simply for the sake of enjoyment. Roleplay should be about character development, and, at the most fundamental level, having fun. It's a form of escapism more than anything. What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?: I believe that the OOC purpose of a Head ingame is to be a guide and a leader to his department simultaneously, offering training to those new in the field, coordinating everyone in the department in question and offering his 'subordinates' ample amounts of roleplaying opportunities. Having someone for each department to answer to ensures that all departments are functioning within normal parameters while also adding a degree of accountability to members of the departments in question, which is often necessary. What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?: I believe whitelisted players should be there to more or less guarantee the enjoyment of their fellow players, along with offering them a good example of roleplay and decent rule-abiding conduct. I would strive to uphold these responsibilities by following the community's rules and regulations while trying my best to maintain a good standard of roleplay. Please pick one of your characters for this section, and provide well articulated responses to the following questions. Character name: Avery Dawkins Character age: 31 Please provide a short biography of this character (approx 2 paragraphs): Avery Dawkins was born thirty one years ago in Mendell City, the capital of the planet Biesel, to a pair of local medical doctors. Owing to the occupation of his parents, he had a relatively comfortable and leisurely childhood. During his school days, his performance was satisfactory, though far from remarkable. In terms of fields of interest, Avery gravitated towards law and its application. Upon coming of age, when faced with the decision of choosing a future career, Avery, against the insistence of his parents, decided to sign up with local law enforcement, spending several years in training before becoming a full fledged officer. Following seven years of service with local forces, having a spotless record, he was offered an opportunity for employment by Nanotrasen, which he then chose to accept. What do you like about this character?: I like the fact that he can be professional and articulate and can perform his duties appropriately without feeling like a cold, soulless husk of justice. Despite his usual professionalism, he still feels like a human being with a sense of humor and ambitions other than merely getting through the day. He also has a general aptitude for command. What do you dislike about this character?: I dislike the fact that he's practically bound to his office all day and, for the most part, is barred from field work. He sometimes avoids otherwise reasonable courses of action for the sake of not screwing anything up - IE, he's the type to mail command before doing anything remotely non-standard or questionable. He also has a tendency of becoming extremely aggressive when someone harms his subordinates, as was probably witnessed by a few people by now. Do you think this character is fit to be a Head of Staff? (Please note that Head characters must be over 30, unless given special clearance): Yes Why?: I believe he is fit to be a Head of Staff because he's already in a position that requires in-depth knowledge of Standard Operating Procedure and regulations, along with having somewhat of an aptitude for command plus the experience required to back it up. Please provide well articulated and argumented answers to the following questions. How would you rate your own roleplaying?: As I despise any sort of self-praise, I'll call it what it objectively is - 'experienced'. I've been roleplaying constantly for the past six years and I believe I have what it takes to do so in an adequate fashion for the position I am applying for. Extra notes: please don't force me to warden anymore there is no god
