Hello. Welcome. Stay. Do not steal Baka.
-
Let me preface this by saying that this is my opinion as a player and I have a sort of bias towards corporate power and influence. With that aside: I really, really, REALLY hate it when I hear someone essentially saying "you can't do that, the SA knows everything, you'll have to answer to them". Corporations in the real world already get away with a whole bunch of nonsense - they're not in space, nor are they as gigantic as NT supposedly is. I'll make some concessions and endorse what Inverted suggested, despite me really wanting to go a bit further with NT's influence.

I mean the fun kind. Space LSD is boring. "Space drugs" is ambiguous as fuck. What drugs /do/ we have around? How are they made, what are their effects? I mean, yeah, we could rehash real world drugs and call things Space Krokodil, but that's... boring.

I see the explanations given thus far as fairly satisfactory. If people start mass-transforming out of the blue, having them isolated is not a terribly unreasonable idea, no? Furthermore, regarding the point of executing against orders, I understand that the faxes sent also instructed the heads of staff to have the changelings executed should they prove difficult to contain. Chewing your hand off feels like something that would fall under "difficult to contain". I understand why the outcome of the round might prove frustrating, but I don't see any significant OOC issues with this currently. Will leave this open for 24-48 hours for further input, otherwise, locking & archiving.

Loyalty implanted heads of staff being obligated to follow Corporate Regulations is a very reasonable argument to make. However, let us consider the following. What, exactly, is the purpose of Corporate Regulations? They were created, I imagine, to ensure productivity of employees and optimal functioning of the station while keeping the corporation operating within the bounds of Sol Alliance law. The moment someone grows a massive flesh blade, however, one can reasonably assume they are a hostile unknown species, which would evidently not be protected by either Corporate Regulations or Sol law, thus permitting the loyalty implanted staff to forego regulations in this specific scenario. What could definitely be a problem, however, is killing, or, through inaction, allowing the killing of said unknown alien species despite direct orders from Central Command to preserve it as a loyalty implanted character. That leaves us with two questions: 1) Was the changeling in question identified as an unknown species? Did it display any of its abilities? 2) Was Bokaza instructed to preserve the changeling by Central Command?

Alright. In that case, I'll mark this as revolved and toss it into the archives. Thank you for your patience.

Our stance on this right now is as follows. It's difficult to roleplay with the crew beyond speaking on the comms when you have zero borgs, yes, that's a point. However, beginning to bolt and panic syphon rooms at what is more or less the start of the round isn't the optimal way to go about it. I don't see the need for any sort of disciplinary action to be taken, but I'd appreciate it if Tytos took the time to re-examine this situation and figure out how it could be better handled in the future, and we can chalk it up to a learning experience. Thoughts?

Alright, as appropriate action was taken by the player to remedy the issues listed in the original complaint, this is pretty much resolved. I'll be locking and archiving this. If anyone wishes to contest this, they are free to PM me at any time. Reyjakai: I would advise not letting yourself get discouraged by a couple of overreactions. Adjust as you see fit and I'm certain you'll be fine.

I will begin by quoting a couple of paragraphs from our rules page, found here. As you're probably able to tell, Katelynn needs a few changes in order to appropriately adhere to these rules. With that aside, I'd like further posts to retain a modicum of civility. Hostility is unneeded.
-
Following further discussion by the staff, we will be posting a general announcement as clarification regarding what is and what is not an acceptable use of telescience. I'd say that resolves our complaint. I'll leave this open for the next 24-48 hours in case someone has anything to add, then I'll lock and archive it. Do remember to stay civil.

Alright, let's get this out of the way first: I am in no way able to consider this self-antagging. With that aside, I do see an issue, namely the fact that a professional with a doctorate is using an expensive experimental device for the sake of fucking with people repeatedly. Would this be a problem if it was a rare occurrence? No. Is it a rare occurrence? Apparently not. The way I see it, if you're so bored of science that you /must/ fuck with people to get some degree of enjoyment, you should try a new character or department. I'll be waiting for a bit more input before making a decision, regardless.

Locking and archiving as per author's request.

Because, contrary to popular belief, the captain's word is not law. The laws are. If following the captain's orders would violate those laws, yes, the AI can certainly go against them. And yes, I asked my fellow staffers for input before proceeding and they were not opposed. With that aside, once more, this complaint isn't about my actions during that round. If you want to discuss them, PM me or make an appropriate complaint. Get back on track, please.
-
Thing is, medical professionals are expected to know a whole bunch more about diseases than the captain, and they more or less confirmed that the outbreak wasn't a thing. Also, the AI can and will stop the captain if he/she tries to have a whole bunch of people executed based on a suspicious directive with a flimsy justification for said execution. Regardless, this complaint isn't about me, so let's get back on track.
-
As clarification: I was the AI that round, I betrayed both you and Xander simultaneously, hoping that cutting off the heads of both sides (so to speak) would prevent any actual violence from taking place. I requested the Research Director to take charge while you two were secured, since he didn't seem to have any agenda. That being said, I'll let this sit and gather a few more opinions before dealing with it.

I love you all too. <3

Alright, Fowl was spoken to about this and acknowledged the fact that his behavior has been disruptive and offensive to some. He has been issued a warning, along with a guarantee that failing to adjust this behavior will result in more severe consequences. Now, I'd like to address the rampant aggression and spewing of vitriol in this complaint, despite previous warnings. This kind of attitude is not acceptable and never will be acceptable. I will elect not to take any sort of disciplinary action at this point, but should this issue resurface in further complaints, I can promise that action /will/ be taken against the offenders. With that aside, I'll be marking this complaint as resolved. If the author wishes to contest this, he is more than encouraged to PM Jennalele or myself. Locking and archiving.
-
Will notify Fowl and await his response before proceeding. In the meantime, discussion is more than encouraged. PS: "Being an asshole" isn't an appropriate title for a complaint. Please refrain from this kind of thing in the future. It would be ideal if you'd try your best to remain polite, even if you feel as if the individual you are filing a complaint against did not or will not return the courtesy.

Character Complaints: Malfunction Round
Doomberg replied to EvilBrage's topic in Complaints Boards Archive
Okay, here's the way we see it. The moment you escalate to Code Delta, you should be preparing for a desparate assault. An IC announcement goes out more or less saying "destroy the AI now or everything explodes". It's fight or flight - a cornered animal is going to bite and claw at you. They did not powergame by using anything they didn't have the knowledge to use. As for the metagame point, it can easily be justified with Mesons. With that in mind, I don't see any reason to take action against either of these players, hence, I'll be marking this as resolved. The author is more than welcome to PM myself or Jenna in order to contest this. Locking and archiving. -
It would be ideal for the players involved to explain their actions, so I'll be notifying them of this when I catch them. As for the final resolution of the complaint, I'm going to be leaving that to Jenna, as I was involved and do not feel comfortable with handling this because of it.
-
Mistakes made were acknowledged, which should be sufficient to prevent further incidents like this from cropping up. I see no reason for any disciplinary action to be taken right now, considering this fact. If the author wishes to dispute this resolution, he's more than welcome to PM me. Locking and archiving.
-
From my understanding, both Hackie and Techno were talked to about this matter by staff during this round. Thus, warnings having already been issued, I'm inclined to mark this complaint as resolved. If the author wishes to dispute this, he's more than welcome to PM me. For now, locking and archiving.

Locking and archiving as per author's request.

DeezyJ - "HoP" stands for Head of Paingiving

Player in question will be spoken to about this incident, and we'll determine what happens from that point. Will update. For now, locking and archiving.
