the_furry Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 so I suggest when you use the harm intent with a crowbar that you can't use the crowbar to lift tiles. It breaks so much immersion when your trying to defend yourself or fight someone with a crowbar and with one mis-click a tile pops off. how do you go from trying to kill somone to "ops I lifted up the floor boards instead" XD
LordFowl Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Trying to pretend to be Gordon Freeman again, are we? Tsk, tsk.
Conservatron Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 counter, when you have harm intent and hit a floor tile it should have a chance to damage it. Its a swing and a miss with a heavy blunt object, it should probably leave some sign of conflict on the tile
Carver Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 Counter-counter, when you have harm, swing, and miss whilst hitting a floor tile. It should leave a bullet hole where you missed, akin to a targetting dummy. This should disappear after approximately a minute.
EvilBrage Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 You guys do know that crowbars do not do any more damage than your fists, correct? I'm not sure why it's such a popular weapon.
incognitojesus Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 You guys do know that crowbars do not do any more damage than your fists, correct? I'm not sure why it's such a popular weapon. There's a Gordan Freeman in all of us. /me nids. But in reality, if you're fighting with a crowbar in the first place, you probably definitely deserve my telebaton shoved halfway down your throat. Either way, I don't think this would change much, seeing as floor tiles are one of the easiest things you can make on purpose. I do like the idea of scarring floor tiles if you miss. Wouldn't it just be a change of icon state? I don't know, I don't understand code, I just make maps.
Guest Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 You guys do know that crowbars do not do any more damage than your fists, correct? I'm not sure why it's such a popular weapon. toolboxes are 3 times as robust as a crowbar and probably four times as much, given with their chance to knock out.
Nik Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 If your a Tajara, your claws can break bones and shit. It's kind of amazing. But yeah, Crowbars are entirely awful in combat. They shouldn't be, being a big metal stick, but hey. But I do like that idea better.
Conservatron Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 side note do prosthetics deal more damage than fleshy fists?
NebulaFlare Posted January 26, 2015 Posted January 26, 2015 side note do prosthetics deal more damage than fleshy fists? Indeed they do. I recall one round, my engineer Lori punched Dilgan in the prosthetic arm with her prosthetic fist - just once. He had a broken arm the rest of the round, and was too proud to get it fixed.
Nik Posted January 27, 2015 Posted January 27, 2015 Cut to people powergaming with all prothesis bodies. Cut to it so hard you use a star-wipe.
the_furry Posted January 28, 2015 Author Posted January 28, 2015 why...why do crowbars do the same as a fist? they proved this on that one tvshow! I mean come on.
Guest Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Because balance, not realism. A crowbar is an extremely accessible tool. Anyone can get one from a lathe, there's, in theory, an infinite supply of crowbars. And you're not supposed to be killing people with crowbars.
SgtSammac Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 why...why do crowbars do the same as a fist? they proved this on that one tvshow! I mean come on. Also we didn't make the fighting/damage code. we can probably change it yea, but we didn't make it in the firstnplace.

Guest Posted February 2, 2015 Posted February 2, 2015 The circumstances are different. Many situations require attention to realism over gameplay balance, others vice versa.
