Azande Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 (edited) On the tin. Basically, I'm kind of tired of joining rounds thinking they're extended (aka, no hostiles/no stress and just pure RP fun) and then finding out I've been tricked because a lazy admin didn't set the custom event info. Simply, I suggest creating an 'Event' gamemode. This would not be in the list of vote-able gamemodes, but would instead be manually set by the admin running the event after they hold their yes/no to an event vote. This would allow newcomers joining to see the round is currently having an event, rather than thinking it is extended - especially when admins forget or just don't set custom event info. LordFowl Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 Why would a lazy admin set the roundtype properly but not the custom event info?

LordFowl Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 Then why not just make setting custom event info as a mandatory policy? What is the sense of a solution that requires both new code and policy versus a solution that just requires policy and existing cofe?
Garnascus Posted January 3, 2019 Posted January 3, 2019 fucking admins They arent lazy they just always forget. Its announced regularly in discord.

You should always go into extended assuming an event might happen. That something more than you role-playing in a private corner for the entire round will happen. I don't see why admins should be required to tell you that there's an event going on. Generally speaking if there's an event going on the OOC channel will be turned off, and you can always cryo if you don't like what's going on. This is a completely unneeded addition and makes me laugh, because it's like the universe of people asking extended to be removed from secret, and people telling them that they should always expect every secret round to be extended or it's metagame. If we have to suffer ambiguity about whether there's going to be antagonists when we clearly wanted them by voting Secret, you can stand a little bit of inconvenience when you wanted an extended round and it turns out to be an event. I mean. By the same token, updating the round event text can be made mandatory policy. There's minimal difference in effort, and the problem of forgetting will exist regardless. Also, certain events benefit from being ran with the backdrop of another game mode. This would destroy such convenience. +1 vote for dismissal because of what was said above.
