AmoryBlaine Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 So, rather than have fucking, crazy ass on-station Olympics like we seem to do every few weeks now, we just have the contestants picked up and flown to central and they do their shit in the thunderdome. Everyone else just watches on the monitors, or goes there. With the contestants and event characters. Oh, and if more people want to go, send the shuttle back and forth ferrying people there. Would make the whole occasion more grounded in reality and be as if things actually existed OFF STATION, and we aren't just living in a simulated reality.
Carver Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 +1 if the Entertainment channel gets used again.
ben10083 Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 The idea of using the Thunderdome is more for the Event Creator's discretion, but I feel that the dome isn't used as much due to the difficulty of transporting everyone who wants to come to the Odin.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted February 18, 2019 Posted February 18, 2019 I will still use the holodeck for events. Its important to have an easy way to get to the event and back to work quickly. Emts and surgeons and the like still need to be on call.

Could we perhaps see the Entertainment channel used for these events, then? Live casting via radio would be interesting for crew who can't actively view these things/have to stay in their departments.
KingOfThePing Posted February 19, 2019 Posted February 19, 2019 (edited) "This is NTEB, the NanoTrasen Entertainment Broadcast, on the short-range frequency 149.8. We are broadcasting today's holodeck event. My name is James and I'm here with my co-host Quiib. We are both excited to provide some commentary, right from the first row, to all of you who can't attend in person. But without further ado, let's jump right into it. Today's seems to be [...]" Live casting a show over the entertainment channel is actually a pretty good idea! Don't tell me there wouldn't be volunteers to act as radio hosts. I like the idea.
