[Accepted] Activeknockback's Command Application

Recommended Posts

BYOND key: Activeknockback

Character names:

The following are McShains: Alexander, Arthur, Connor, Damian, Daniel, Ingrid, Lance, Thomas, and William (Yes I know it's strange to have this many family members who all work for NT, but it is a BIG Corporation, right?)

The Following are of other groups: Albert Maxwell, Edward Mason

How long have you been playing on Aurora?: Several Years now. Minimum I believe is three.

Why do you wish to be on the whitelist?:

Command Position of CMO

Additional Information From Request: I was making Albert to do the other fields that I have yet to truely do, psych and chem mostly (Still not doing that totally yet. Working on learning basics both IC and OOC) I allow each of my characters to grow naturally, and I feel he has quickly developed his skills into that of fitting for the CMO position. He was built with the eventual promotion in mind, however his growth was faster then expected to which I felt that the often Vacant when I play CMO placement would pay off in the long run. ICly, he does his work with a special attention to the quality of service and it shows. While he can be rash with bartenders if they are less then intelligent about the amount they serve a singular patron, he does it more out of care for the station, it's resources, and it's crew then any malice or ill-intent.

Why did you come to Aurora?:

A friend invited me and I fell in love with the atmosphere and people

Have you read the Aurora wiki on the head roles and qualifications you plan on playing?:

Yes, I have it open when I make any form of application.

Have you received any administrative actions? And how serious were they? Yes, it was for going SSD as a paramedic with the RIG suit on. The time issued was 2018-07-13. I believe at the time, I was having a major internet issue that did not allow me to keep connected and it eventually dropped me completely that stopped me form informing the staff of the issue.

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph each.

Give a definition of what you think roleplay is, and should be about:

I think that Roleplay should be about having fun with the people and giving them a fun experience. It is a community game, and the community of Aurora is that of a mostly loving, caring group that is welcoming to new players. Whenever I have a question, I almost always get a speedy and accurate answer that allows for more fun for myself and hopefully others.

What do you think the OOC purpose of a Head of Staff is, ingame?:

Direction, RP Generation, and guidance for new players is often what I think of when the question is asked. It is also a step to stop trolls and griefers from damaging the environment too badly if the admin are not available. The Command Staff should always try to encourage the gameplay and help of others .

What do you think the OOC responsibilities of Whitelisted players are to other players, and how would you strive to uphold them?:

The OOC responsibilities in my personal opinion are that of people who know the rules and help new players learn them more effectively. They are also help the player learn the community. If the new people screw up, a white-listed member might be able to help correctthe issues before  an admin or moderator would otherwise have to get involved and the potential to lose another new friend to the server.

Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career?

A new group of Unathi have appeared in the Tau Ceti system. They are an augmented race with cybernetics which was not the most well recieved by the people, but they were not stopped, as they sought refuge from an otherwise bad storm of war, blockades of their own system, and other less enjoyable events. Talks were had over the time between and they are being welcomed after the initial shock factor has dissipated, and was eventually met with optimism. They have gained and are growing their own settlement on New Gibson. NanoTransen is doing well with cultural exchanges and even going so far as to have olympic style games with the new settlers. They also have been given a mass internship into NanoTransen, which would make the idea of teaching more people a bit stressful to Albert, but he would take it in strides. He is also very hopeful to study what makes these Unathi different that that of the baseline.

What roles do you plan on playing after the application is accepted? The Roles I plan on playing if the application are accepted are the baseline roles that do not require whitelist and the CMO. I have developed a character I feel who has earned the chance at it. While this is not saying I have completely earned it, it would be well to say that I have studied the wiki hard enough and put as much detail into it as I could.

Characters you intend to use for command or have created for command. Include the job they will be taking.:

Albert Maxwell, CMO (There is no paragraph here, this is all I am looking to do with this at the present time.

How would you rate your own roleplaying?:

7.5-8.0/10 Anyone who says a perfect ten is in my own opinion lying. If you think yourself a perfect score, then it means you have nothing left to learn as an RPer. Everyone should always have something to learn about hobbies that they actually care about. Everyone can improve, I am no different. One of my biggest drawbacks is I can sometimes lack appropriate responses for some situation, but they can fit the background of whichever character I am playing at the time.

Do you understand your whitelist is not permanent, and may be stripped following continuous administrative action?

Yes, Whitelist can be revoked at any time for multiple reasons. If I were to besmirch the whitelist roles, or gain too many administrative actions, especially within a short time-frame would earn me a quick revocation of the whitelists I would have at hte time. This is especially true for command positions, but I would also expect it if it were a race application I was doing too.

Have you familiarize yourself with the wiki pages for the command roles?

Every time I do a role, be it something I think I already know or not, I am often re-looking over any relevant wikis while keeping them open during play. It makes the roleplay more fluid and immersive to have this setup for myself. I have looked over the Wikis for the command roles I have been looking at and have found that the characters I have been playing could preform those duties as is required of the staff.

Extra notes:

I would like to say Thank You in advance for taking the time to read this. Please Inform my if I have missed anything that is required in the questions as the coloring on my screen messed with my eyes, this making it hard to discern each line. to an extent. Sorry if the answers are not entirely what is expected or long enough. The character I am aiming to use is relatively new, but he is mostly played in the rounds prior to the skeletal crews with some throughout the day.

You forgot to answer a question.

"Could you give us the gist of what is currently happening in Tau ceti and how it affected your character and their career?"

We would also like you to revisit and add some more depth to the question regarding on why you want the whitelist.

I hadn’t seen this earlier.

One of my big concerns is your tendency to breach protocol as psychologist and go do triage and even, I think, surgery. A big part of cmo is just delegating. You have to assume people will do their jobs and let them do it, at least until they make a big error. I generally don’t recommend people who exceed their departmental role for command.

I understand some of this disagreement may be ic, so I would like to hear your ooc thoughts on what limitations you believe command staff should have.

To Resilynn: He does both roles as he has both degrees. I often do his original assignment before he takes on his other possible rolls. He is not versed in chemistry other them mixing two ingredient mixes, and thus tries to go nowhere near the chem-lab. He is hands on and actually cares for the people of the station. I also let the surgeons do their part, the MDs do their thing and Psych do theirs. It's that He is very hands on and wants to make sure everyone is tended to. Most of the issue is IC, but he is ment to be an OOC challenging character personally. He sticks to the original assignment when there are plenty of staff to help, but he also get bored as a psych up in his office when nothing happens.
