[Accepted] Dark1Star IPC Application 2: Electric Boogalu

Recommended Posts

BYOND Key: Dark1Star

Character Names: John Normandy, Jake Jarvis, Reiner Rivette

Species you are applying to play: IPC

What color do you plan on making your first alien character: N/A

Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question.

Why do you wish to play this specific race:

I wish to play an IPC because of how different they act and how they respond to certain situations. They are cold and calculating, their mannerisms and their speech patterns are interesting compared to other races. They offer unique gameplay experiences and add to different role-play scenarios, where a human might not fit the job, an IPC might be able to save the day. My character John Normandy has defended many IPCs and also works with them quite a bit. One time a debate was set up between John and a Xeno-biologist skrell as to the benefits of synthetics and disadvantages, but sadly was shortly interrupted by intruders.

Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human:

Some IPCs may act human, but they will never be able to emulate a human perfectly. They are too robotic to fully emulate a human, relying on programmed speech patterns and emotions, an IPC will not act to the loss of someone close the same way a human can, they will not cry, they can mourn, but to an extent, they can miss the person in question and will feel... "bad" about them not being around anymore. Some IPCs do have more emotions however, a G2 frame will act completely different to a shell frame in terms of the emotions it can emulate, and even show.

Character Name: A.M.I (Automated Medical Interface) or "Amy"

Please provide a short backstory for this character

Created in 2455, A.M.I is an IPC using a Bishop frame created for medical services in the upper, richer parts of Harmony City on Luna. Designed for friendly interaction during medical practices and procedures A.M.I is a warm and welcoming IPC who treats everyone with respect no matter who they are and makes sure to try and treat everyone as equal as possible. A.M.I tries to be friendly and approachable to everyone it meets and makes sure that the patients leave with a smile on their faces and a farewell from its self.

During trial-tests and simulations, A.M.I, showed a strong desire to learn something new in the medical field, and tries its best to take what it learnt and put it to actual use, although the test results show that it was slow at picking up on new and advanced procedures, it made sure to at least pay attention fully. It also showed a high interest in being friendly to the patients, although it had a few issues when dealing with the patients. Even if the patient walks in to the medical lobby missing a leg and bleeding all over the floor, A.M.I has the issue of asking neutral questions, such as: "Hello, I am Amy, what can I help you with today?" or "Hello, I am Amy, what seems to be the issue?"

It has been noted a few times before that it has issues being blunt, during trial testing A.M.I would out-right tell the patient, "I'm sorry Mr. Jones, you are currently dying and there is nothing right now I can do about it. Would you like to seek counselling? A Psychiatrist perhaps? I am sure I will be able to arrange something in time before your demise." The medical doctors overseeing the simulation did not think this problem shadowed their benefits.

What do you like about this character?

What I love about this character is how helpful A.M.I will try to be, but with the issue of being blunt and asking neutral questions, could cause un-wanted hostilties against it. Pouring petrol on to the fire so to speak. I love how it is blunt, and holds nothing back and will tell the truth to the patient no matter how serious. I also love their personality and I can imagine right now how they would talk and act and I hopefully will be able to play this character in the near future.

I also like the fact that this character will be my entrance in to the medical department. Not only will I be role-playing as a new race, I will also be learning medical procedures.

How would you rate your role-playing ability?

6/10. I feel I have improved slightly over the month since I've been back, learning from new and old mistakes, and making sure to not do mess up again, and making sure the game stays fun for everyone. *cough* not building four combat RIGs for security and mechs. There are other people out there with a better role-playing ability than I have, and I do my best to learn from them.

Notes:

second time's the charm right? I feel much better with this application than I did with my last one, and making sure to get help from people on discord. Big thanks to Microsoft Word and DeadLantern on discord.

+1

Dark1Star as a player is a great person, and very fun to hang around with. Their character concepts are usually pretty solid, or they are fleshed out within a few rounds of playing them, so I feel that as a player that watched their newest character grow from creation to now that they either have solid ideas to begin with and flesh them out quickly or more likely already have a good grip of the RP that is expected of certain characters and roles. I give this player, and application, my full and undoubting support. Hope to see their medical character, seems like an interesting concept.

To be honest, I still have yet to see any change despite seeing Normandy numerous times. Your second application (after the original whitelist strip) was denied for this reason exactly, and I do not intend to accept another for the same issues that they generated originally to pop up all over again.

With that said, it has been just under a month since you last applied and were denied. Without bringing up RIGs, mecha, or anything you are "mechanically good at," what do you personally believe has changed about your roleplay in this time?

I understand what you said, but with that being said, I believe over the month I've been here I have definitely learned how to roleplay and "Interact" with the people around me, I believe the reason why I lost my IPC whitelist last year was because I didn't roleplay as an IPC good enough, I acted more human than a posibrain inside of a frame. Not just that but the countless times I was told and told again about breaking certain rules, which was also another reason why I lost my IPC whitelist, was because of the rules I broke, I have definitely learned from my mistakes and I don't intend to break the rules either.

I have definitely been trying to learn roleplay off other people too, especilly the ones that have been here a while and know what they are doing. I make sure that my actions seem believable, realistic and I make sure that I fear RP and sometimes pain RP realisticly as well. Ovbiously, it's up to you weather my application gets accepted or not. But I feel like I have improved my roleplay much more that it was when I started playing again here last month. I have taken peoples comments, suggestions and feedback, in to consideration, I believe the characters I have created and started out within this month have become fleshed out, well known and honestly well liked.
