allow those of any faction to be AI.

Hello I would like to suggest to allow any character of any faction to be able to put a preference for the AI occupation. This is simply because currently there is no faction specific AI, and some of us who like to play AI would not like to be limited because of the faction we would fall back on based on our character choice. For example if I play on my mining Hephaestus- aligned is human, there's no occupational option for me to put any preference towards being an AI. I could understand if this was a thing if factional AI was an option, but currently it isn't. In so I'd like to request that characters of any faction be allowed to choose a preference towards being AI. Just a short example and until then I hope I don't have to be stuck playing nanotrasen characters if I want even a chance to be in the AI slot. Thank you for the consideration

Not entirely sure what this adds. Though I'd prefer we not allow the competition to have total control of the station.

Haha, I understand, I meant to say that we should allow characters of any faction to have a preference to NanoTrasen AI. My bad.

i've looked at the code and it looks like AI, cyborgs, and merchants are meant to be exempt from faction checks but evidently they're not

bears more investigation so it's on the list

It's quite intentional that the faction is taken into account for the merchant, as this prevents the player from reusing a station character as merchant.

well like I said in other places I could not make much sense of the spaghetti soup that is job/faction code in the short time I looked, but yes it looks like that exemption was for something else entirely

regardless I don't think it makes much sense to faction-lock slots that don't really interact with factions
