  1. Reporting Personnel: Isk'sah Zsoehsslehi Job Title of Reporting Personnel: Bridge Crew Game ID: cte-ajtT Personnel Involved: Floriane Poeu, Cook, Offender Isk'sah Zsoehsslehi, Bridge Crew: Victim Ozikar Yathaki, Security Officer: Victim Kezerjem Jaar'zeck, Hangar Technician: Victim Sasha Kaiser, Research Director: Witness Secondary Witnesses: Manuel Barros, Engineer: Witnessed Floriane Poeu refer to Kezerjem Jaar'zeck as a "Cat" Time of Incident: 0400 - 0600 Real Time: (0400 - 0600 2024-04-14 Server Time) Location of Incident: Kitchen/Dining Area Nature of Incident: [x] - Workplace Hazard [ ] - Accident/Injury [ ] - Destruction of Property [] - Neglect of Duty [x] - Harassment [ ] - Assault [ ] - Misconduct [ ] - Other _____ (Place an x in the box that applies. If other, replace line and specify.) Overview of the Incident: The Cook, Floriane Poeu, consistently and repeatedly referred to myself, and Security Officer Ozikar Yathaki as "Lizards". In spite of repeated and spirited attempts to reason with Floriane, explain her error, and resolve this misunderstanding, she refused these explanations, and continued to insist that Unathi and Tajara were "just cats and lizards" and continue to refer to myself and Officer Yathaki with these terms. Kezerjem Jaar'zeck briefly approached the Kitchen, and Cook Poeu quickly denigrated them as a "Cat" Further to this, while this was occurring, Cook Poeu displayed a flagrant disregard for workplace health and safety with regards to food handling, and repeatedly dropped items of food on the floor to then pick them up and use them in cooking, or serve them directly. She was also witnessed drinking directly from an oven pan. When confronted about this unsanitary behaviour by Research Director Kaiser, Officer Yathaki, and myself, she consistently and repeatedly insisted that the floor is clean and safe for food preparation, and that there is nothing wrong with leaving food on the floor. Research Director Kaiser questioned Cook Poeu regarding the provenance of their food handlers permit, and questioned their lack of employment records, to which Cook Poeu refused to answer. After Director Kaiser departed, Cook Poeu went on to say that the only reason that Officer Yathaki and I had any objection was because "where you are from food would be covered in sand and bugs" - further continuing her xenophobic harassment. During the course of this event, I had eaten food prepared by the Cook, Floriane Poeu; Two steaks, a chilli egg bowl, and some gukhe fish. Ten minutes consuming the chilli egg bowl, in inexplicably fell ill and began to vomit - I believe this to be a result of unsafe food practises. Submitted Evidence: Multiple witnesses. Would you like to be personally interviewed?: [x] - Yes [ ] - No Did you report it to a Head of Staff or a superior? If so, who? If not, why?: Yes, Director Kaiser was present during the alleged offenses, but did not take any action at the time. There was no Orion Corporate Representative, or Executive Officer present to report this to directly. Actions taken: Attempted to reason and mediate with the offender, and explain her mistake, but was rebuffed and harassment and unsafe work practises continued.
  2. I was Bridge Crew with HOLMES during an interesting (controversial) Rev Round, where due to the events of the round some crew needed to be promoted to Interim Heads of Staff due to Anti-Dominian Racism being the gimmick of the round. HOLMES was good, I liked him, I believed him as a Command staff. Due to our timezones intersecting I've had him as Command for a handful of rounds over the past week and I've never had a problem with him, and he's been so far dependable and solid. +1
  3. We've been over this before: Mute characters in an Engineering role are a safety hazard to both themselves and others. What's more, if you have a disability which significantly impacts your ability to be productive in that role, guess what: NanoTrasen would not hire you.
  4. The stun setting no longer shoots through windows as of now. Furthermore, the lethal setting can no longer be used on security level Blue.
  5. This is because people in general are hard against giving security lethals on Green alert. If there's no command staff, but there IS a Warden, the warden will still be able to distribute lethal weapons. It's not ideal, but you can't expect everything to work perfectly when the station is understaffed. - I can easily tweak it to also disallow it on blue alert - See above with regards to there not being any command staff, but a Warden. - Valid point, noted. - It doesn't necessarily have to be a blaster, it's just that I have been told that security should NOT have hitscan lethals. I can very easily make this thing a laser gun. Also, thematically, a blaster is a step up from a ballistic -- if blasters are dated, then ballistics are prehistoric. - I can easily control its ability to shoot through windows. It's an easily edit-able flag.
  6. https://github.com/Aurorastation/Aurora.3/pull/9640 UPDATED 2! [Feedback Thread](https://forums.aurorastation.org/topic/14735-security-blaster-feedback/) Implements the NT DP-7, a state of the art blaster pistol capable of firing reduced-power bolts which disrupt the central nervous system, inducing a stunning effect on the victim. It is also capable of firing full-power blaster bolts. This weapon replaces the security taser and .45 pistol as the primary sidearm of Security Officers. This weapon also replaces the energy pistol as the primary sidearm of the Warden, Head of Security, Head of Pesonnel, Captain, Corporate Liaison, ERT Protection Detail, Tau Ceti Consular Officer . The blaster pistol can be customised between three separate models: Sub-Compact, Service and Magnum. Implements a wireless-control firing pin. This firing pin comes standard in the Security model of the blaster pistol, and allows wireless control of the firing pin authentication: By default the firing pin will only allow lethal gunfire on Yellow, Red & Delta security level. The new Firearm Control Console can remotely swap wireless-control pinned firearms between automatic, stun-only, unrestricted, and disabled modes, as well as displaying the registered user and current area of the firearm. The .45 pistol which used to spawn in Security Officer's lockers now appears inside the .45 magazine cupboard in the armoury, if they are so required.
  7. This is a brilliant idea. I don't think that the meme corporate dystopia would prohibit a fire escape ladder from being put between the surface and security lobby.
  8. Yes! The fact that so many people outright cryo at the first sign of Malf should tell you something. People, generally speaking, do not enjoy Malf in its current state. I've already talked about this before and every time I've been knocked back. I'd love for people who do awful antag rounds like total stealth-vamp extended, 2 hour Delta AI, stealth-sting/nothing-but-hallucination-sting-spam Changeling etc to be antag banned, but the reality is that the administration team aren't willing to enforce that for some reason. Yes, and for that there needs to be a developer/coder who wants to work on Malf and rework it. It should be removed *for now* because it's bad in its current state. Hell, maybe it'll get reworked faster *because* it gets removed, because a developer/coder wants it back. Rework-not-remove is apathy.
  9. For as long as we don't antag ban people who play Changeling and then do nothing but stealth and hallucination sting and voicechange the entire round, I will support this.
  10. I approve, and let me tell you why: Bad gimmicks aside, Malf is not implemented well for our HRP environment. Malf has a very limited number of ways that it can end: Dead AI or Delta. There's no in between, and that removes player choice. The hacking messages don't allow any crew interaction, and right now only serve to give people heads up that it's time to cryo. There's no point to it, and there's nothing that the crew can do other than useleasly pretend to be investigating the hack while waiting for the AI to go loud, or trigger Delta. Only a select few crewmembers get to even interact with the AI, and because of the distance between the AI and the crew there's not even any RP to it. It's always so very hamfisted with the AI going "Submit or Delta'. A lot of crew are not only utterly helpless during Malf because they don't have a part in core rushing, but they're bored brainless. You can't RP with the Malf, because they have a near mobopoly on power. They're always remorseless murder AI and will ignore you or flat out refuse everything you say because it can. It just becomes a mechanical deathmatch where people abandon the semblance of RP in order to rush down the core - because if they don't then it's ALWAYS Delta you're all dead XD.
  11. These are great points. I support this as well.
  12. We used to see a lot of people allcaps screaming in pain and begging for a kelotane/bicard pill and instantly stopping to return to validhunting as soon as they got it. Maybe people SHOULD be waiting for the side effects to stop before they rush back into validhunting? That said I like the metabolism changes.
  13. Please also consider that this may reduce accidental "oopsie whoopsie forgot to turn my emergency internals off, guess I'll just D I E" instances.
  14. To add to the problem of resist spamming, there is now the additional problem that with brainmed you're going to put people into cardiac shock with the amount of pain you'll have to deal to them, and how many times you have to stun them to do this. But on the other hand being cuffed while typing sucks, and so does being grabbed and failing to resist. Solution: Just jobban shitters who silently walk up and apply cuffs without preamble. Also maybe fix the grab system before this suggestion.
  15. I don't like cloning being removed, though I can see the need for maybe removing it. It sucks that the shitty actions of a few powergamers is going to result in the wholesale removal of something that benefits everyone. But regardless of what happens, keep cloning in-lore. Everyone else has bought up established characters, but nobody is talking about how cloning is a very large part of the thematics of our server lore and most importantly the spirituality in our lore- how each religion views cloning.
  16. Isn't it the onus on the Mercenaries to create a compelling round/gimmick? If all of security roll Merc, it's nobody's fault but theirs if they go loud and just murder everyone without resistance. They should be able to identify a lack of command staff and security and come up with a gimmick that works for that. But then perhaps I'm being too much of an idealist.
  17. Counterpoint: Antagonists don't get bucklecuffed and sedated in solitary for no raisin. They get moved there following repeated attempts to escape, typically with them also attacking Security in the process. If an antagonist gets moved to solitary under sedation it's purely their own fault, and if Security just do it without provocation it should be ahelped.
  18. Personally, selfishly, in my opinion it really sucks when I get beaten to the FT slot by someone who invariably has Detective and Security Officer in their lineup. ICly you're hired to work at NT in one position, you don't just get seconded around on a shift to shift basis. TBH the preference system should be removed entirely, and people should just ready up Yes/No for their chosen job and only their chosen job.
  19. Can there be a body scanner in the forensics autopsy lab? We can't check for organ damage without one.
  20. While thematically I like this more than what we have at present in a lore perspective (I prefer neural laces tbh), I have my reservations from a gameplay perspective. I'm biased and selfish and I want to see my characters cloned if they die and are found, and with this change I won't be able to RP recovery at all - I'll just be dead until transfer However beyond that very selfish reasoning there's some other issues I'd like to raise: Firstly this is going to effectively remove half of the psychiatrist's job, and remove cloning trauma. I, personally enjoy RPing through this process. Secondly, the time limit. I'm leery of the idea that if nobody finds you within X amount of time you're just dead. Ppbbt. Canon dead forever. I can see this opening up Medical to a lot of stress for not being fast enough in processing/handling the body before it degrades. In fact whereas before Medical that lack staff/experience to clone properly could just do nothing and store the cadaver, they're going to get screamed at for not being quick enough to preserve the corpse and take a scan and so on and so forth, with inevitable IRs and everything that entails. Heads of Staff instantly being cloned on death, invalidating the efforts of a would-be assasin **does** suck, but really I feel as though a better solution to that would be to allow assassins to headgib/decapitate rather than just making everyone wholesale uncloneable on-station.
  21. I noticed during the testmerge that when sprinting my pain doll would turn orange once I ran out of stamina, and then would stay like that while I slowed down to a crawl as-normal. However after that if I stopped moving, about two minutes later my pain would rapidly increase to paincrit and I'd have a thirty second period of slipping in and out of consciousness while receiving the worst pain messages 'You feel like you're about to die' and 'Please just end the pain!' When counting my own pulse it would fluctuate between 60 and 90, but when someone scans me with a health scanner they said that my heart rate was 250 and that I had gone into shock (this was a minute or two after I stopped running) Is this delayed action due to adrenaline? I understand there were some Human processing slowdowns as well, but I got similar results near roundstart. I do also play Unathi, and have a weird sprint
  22. YES! I knew there was a word for it, I just couldn't find it! As for treacherous, no, I just meant that usually those formative years- particularly the teenage ones are normally full of a lot of adolescent highs and lows. Nothing especially tragic or confrontational there!
  23. BYOND Key: Crozarius Character Names: Sah Kuhwinla (Cook), HIECA (Station Engineer), Samantha Davis (Forensic Technician), Izresoz Azkessah (Priest), Ihhozush Srezlehi (Warden), Akhakezs Szasekah (Engine Technician) Species you are applying to play: Skrell What color do you plan on making your first alien character: Turquoise Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yes Please provide well articulated answers to the following questions in a paragraph format. One paragraph minimum per question. Why do you wish to play this specific race: Before quite recently I had held a preconception that Skrell were weird, strange unknowable shifty aliens who meddled in the affairs of other species, but I realised that that'd all been based on complete misinformation once I put in the time and effort of meeting and conversing with a few Skrell - in particular one Lesh Liise (They're a priest, hope I spelled their name properly!) I did a preliminary dive into Skrell lore and I really liked what I saw, and after mulling it over I decided to make a character, because I've found that the best way to understand the lore of a species beyond a simple surface understanding is to make a character of that species and learn through experience, meeting others and having that impetus to actually look deeper into the lore and understanding it to apply it to my character, rather than just reading it. Now, after reading through all of the Skrell wiki pages in preparation for this application, I've been struck by the thought of 'this species is perfect for the kinds of characters I play, why the hell didn't I get a whitelist before!?' I really like the Skrell: Their backstory is very interesting and loaded with a bunch of character creation/conflict potential, the cultural vibe of the Skrell as high achieving intellectuals with a penchant for curiosity and a desire to know more is really appealing to me thematically. I enjoy the portrayal of their governmental system as a sort of iron hand with a velvet glove- guiding the Skrell toward happiness and prosperity through a pleasant facade while practising arguably sinister methods of cultural manipulation and deep rooted control. But before I keep rambling on incoherently any further, to summarise: I think Skrell are very interesting, and their culture and demeanour is conducive to the kinds of characters that I like to play (Which is to say various shades of cowardly nerd.) Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Skrell are amphibious lifeforms, able to survive both above water, and within it. They’re generally a bit slippery and wet because of their natural excretions, they don’t have teeth and survive on a primarily herbivorous diet- although they’re perfectly able to consume animal-based proteins if they can contrive a way to macerate or swallow whole their food. They have headtails with varying levels of prehensility. But apart from being wet and squishy squid-looking people, they’ve a unique culture and outlook based not just on how they’ve developed, but their connection with one another through the Nlom. They’re quite communal, they value intelligence and subtlety far more than strength, and their idea of humour, music and the arts are distinctly alien from a Human perspective- for example the way in which they physically perceive a humorous sensation. Also very importantly from a different-from-human perspective is that they have virtually no social consideration for gender differences between one another and view the act of reproduction in a very clinical light. And lastly, Skrell are highly emotional creatures -however this emotion is very difficult for them to convey to other species due to their features, reliance on the Nlom, and inability of many species to fully appreciate the full Skrell vocal range. Character Name: Kipo Jhuyt Please provide a short backstory for this character (Approximately two paragraphs) Kipo Jhuyt is a young (by Skrell standards, anyway) Female Skrell from the Radiant Era – hatched in April of 2418 on Qerrbalak. Although progress in fertility treatments meant that her hatching wasn’t necessarily a miracle, she was still precious to her Quya who lavished her with all the attention, guidance and nurturing needed to bring her into the world; Kipo never wanted for guidance, or support, was never neglected or left hopeless: At every step through treacherous childhood and teenage years she was comprehensively supported by loved ones, confidants, tutors that kept her on the straight and narrow. Even when it came time for Kipo to leave the cloistered protection of her family’s nurturing arms and begin her pursuit of higher education, she still stayed in close communication with them and found yet more support to guide her in the form of her teachers and peers, which helped her through such relatively troubling times. Kipo was an intensely curious young lady, and like many academically minded Skrell before her had a great enthusiasm for discovery! However, whereas many might put that enthusiasm to use in the formulation of new, wild theories of quantum science or in the cataloguing of exotic xenofauna, Kipo put it to use in the field of literal investigation – Forensic Science and Pathology. It so tickled her fancy that such confounding mysteries could be cracked through the application of esoteric forensic methods, gathering evidence that ranged from blatant splatters of vital fluids right down to the tiniest invisible little speck of skin mucous. She studied a program of Forensic Science with a double major of both terrestrial and aquatic forensics, and her curiosity was even enough to overcome her morbid trepidation and go on to further study a program of Forensic Pathology. So with two programs under her belt- now very much an employable professional in Forensic Science, Kipo still wasn’t done: She had spent the last twenty years feasting on the knowledge of Skrellian forensics, but there was so much more to explore! All of the theory and concepts that she had researched and worked on through her studies had primarily been concerned with forensics as they pertain to Skrell – but there was a whole spur out there of alien races who undoubtedly had their own take on forensics- their own unique mysteries that had nothing to do with Skrell mucous residue and liquid ripple dynamics! So armed with her considerable resume she put out feelers and sought employment out in Human space – and just so happened to be picked up by the ever-famous NanoTrasen Corporation. Should her work visa application be successful, she’d be stationed at a quite well known installation in the Romanovich Cloud by the name of ‘N.S.S Aurora’…. What do you like about this character? Having spent her entire life thus far in close, close proximity with those she holds dear- friends, family, mentors, peers – Kipo is admittedly a little unprepared, and apprehensive about this her first foray out of her comfort zone and away from the support structures that have coddled her for so long. Having been a staunch conformist, a Receiver, and having only limited contact with those of other races beyond that which she knows about them anatomically from her studies in xenobiology, to be thrust into new and exotic surrounds is certainly going to be a foundation for interesting character development, and I think that this idea of an intensely curious, bright and bubbly (For a Skrell) nerd FT is the kind of energy I’ve been looking for in a character. How would you rate your role-playing ability? I think I’ve got a solid foundation in writing, and good roleplaying ability. That’s just my own opinion though, which is obviously biased. I put a heavy emphasis on my fear/pain avoidance RP when I play – Yeah, I’m that guy who makes medical staff RP out the recovery aspect of injuries. Notes: Kipo falls firmly into the hating (read: being completely terrified by) synthetics camp, which is going to be a source of contention ICly on the Aurora – Obviously something she was aware of when she made the decision to take the offer and work there. She's not going to run around hitting IPC’s with fire extinguishers of course, but she won’t trust them. Kipo is largely secular, but she does casually adhere to the Qebla faith, but it’s not very important to her personally. She’s mostly ambivalent on the matter, and could still be persuaded by outside influences. All of this is subject to change. If there’s anything I’ve learned from my many iterations of my Unathi characters, is that the best way to understand the lore is to make mistakes and get corrected by someone, and then fix that mistake. So if I’ve made some completely idiotic slip of the lore, please let me know and I’ll address it!
  24. From my perspective I feel that they're a bit weak, as both the times that they've appeared they all died within 5 minutes of arriving; once to a malf AI's turrets and once to hivebots. Now I'm not certain if this is because of people being unfamiliar with their capabilities or if they're mechanically underpowered. I did see that Geeves did buff them though! RP-wise they all seem to do a good job so far!
  25. I like the change so far. I'm sure that eventually Security will change up their playstyle and tactics to compensate. Hopefully something other than run at antag and end round for valid! Must WIN!
