BurgerBB Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 The guide on the wiki and the book in game doesn't really explain anything on how to run tcomm scripts, or rather how to get them working. It doesn't say what equipment is needed and what I should be running it on. I've tried runnin tcomms code on a laptop but nothing work. I mean, I didn't expect it to work but the wiki nor the guide doesn't make it clear on how to do it. Quote
SierraKomodo Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 I vaguely recall someone mentioning in OOC the other day that tcomms scripting was removed in Aurora Quote
geeves Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 No, it still exists, but documentation is poor. The main stuff can only really be done in telecomms proper, on its computer. Quote
Screemers Posted December 31, 2019 Posted December 31, 2019 Yeah, I do run some basic scripts on Tcomms from time to time. You have to use the computer in Tcomms control room to upload them. You can load one script per channel, but sometime it broke and don't work for some magic reasons. Quote
BurgerBB Posted December 31, 2019 Author Posted December 31, 2019 I discovered last night that tcomm scripting is actually broken and doesn't accept any NTSL2 code. I implore other people here to try and and prove me wrong. Quote
geeves Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 Now that you mention it, I did notice that every few rounds my scripts just doesn't compile, despite being reused from previous rounds where it worked. Might be something an intrepid (read: skilled unlike me) coder should look into. Quote
BurgerBB Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 I looked at the code and it uses an interpreter not coded inside byond but rather some exec or dll file. The file probably doesn't run sometimes or something, I don't know. Quote
Skull132 Posted January 1, 2020 Posted January 1, 2020 It uses an external service. I need to retool it to be a dynamic lib. It's possible that the service didn't boot properly yesterday when the server VM was restarted for updoots. Will check at some point today or tomorrow. Quote
BurgerBB Posted January 1, 2020 Author Posted January 1, 2020 Even when the service works, it does not work for telecoms. Quote
