GreenBoi Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 I know why this feature was removed, but it's caused more aggravation than help. Mercs who use it have no idea how their message came out as or if someone else made an announcement with it, nor do Ninjas or anyone that uses it before they get to the station. Ghosts also don't know what the hell the announcements have said if they were on a different zlevel. If people not on the station zlevel don't have to see it, they'll deduce that from their circumstances, otherwise raiders/mercs will just use the 'its intercepted' excuse, which is pretty plausible given their headsets.
Aphelion Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 We could just make it so that if you can't hear General comms, you can't see it tbh.
Carver Posted January 18, 2020 Posted January 18, 2020 With how rare it is for people to be spaced on this map, I see no issue with a return to global announcements. I'm pretty sure the only significant reason for the removal was just so lobbysitters (whom are present on the centcomm z-level iirc) don't see them.
ben10083 Posted January 21, 2020 Posted January 21, 2020 +1 It causes more annoyance than whatever benefits are derived from it. It is annoying for me to do a announcement on the Odin and have no clue if it sent or not.
Kintsugi Posted March 18, 2020 Posted March 18, 2020 Necroing this because it recently happened to me. I was ERT lead and sent a message at the CC z-level, only to end up thinking it didn't go through at all.
