SgtSammac Posted January 12, 2021 Posted January 12, 2021 (edited) So after another person getting red-misted by elevators I had some thoughts? Elevator Emergency Lockout Controls: Bit of a two fold thought, lockout controls, a control panel at each elevator bank and/or a console in the CE's office (or program on the command consoles?) to allow lockdown of an elevator. To lock the elevator itself to a level, emergency control of the external doors, etc. Emergency Exit Button / Motion Sensor: Add an emergency exit button to the bottom of each elevator shaft so that if someone gets trapped they can trigger the doors to unbolt and let them out? Or a motion sensor that could automatically lock down the elevator from going to the bottom level, or toggle an alert for AI/Cyborgs and/or over the general channel or engineering channel? This could be used for situations ranging from stopping people who fall into shafts somehow from getting redmisted, to locking elevators from accidentally bringing people down into dangerous areas. (I.e. construction level blob venting the elevators, and people being brought down through a vacuum. or bringing people from surface into a vented main coridoor because they ignore engineerings tape yet again. Carver Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 I quite like both of these ideas. Space age technologies and yet people haven't figured out how to design a safe elevator.
Faye <3 Posted January 13, 2021 Posted January 13, 2021 as funny as incidents like these are, we would definitely benefit from a sort of failsafe to the elevator b/c they just gib people and it isn't very fun. i support this wholeheartedly.
canon35 Posted January 15, 2021 Posted January 15, 2021 As funny as it is to see people get grandslammed into paste, this would be kinda nice to bail out the odd few who misstep or lag, and wind up getting tossed down into the death hole.
