DekserBecauseILostMyAccoun Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 21 Additional Augments Welcome to my Augmentation shop, you can purchase anything you wish or just leave without buying anything. I'll be here.(Basically I've been collecting these for the past few weeks and decided to compile them into this list, feel free to pull request any or to just have a gander at my pile.) Colours: Orange - For lower quality, Usually Engineering-related augments. White - For ranging quality Civilian augments. Purple - For mediocre Research-related augments. Blue - For higher quality, expensive Civilian augments. Green - For mediocre Medical augments. Red - For ranging quality Security augments. Grey - For highly-illegal Antagonist augments. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- - Integrated mag boots, magnetic rods in your feet. You'll never suffer the affects of gravity failure again! The only drawback being painful steel rods in your feet... (Description says it all, magfeeeeet) probably costs 3 loadout points. - Integrated fountain pen, have you ever wanted to write something but didn't have a pen on you and forgot your PDA has one? This is for you! The IFP is a pen which can be toggled from your hand or finger, similar to the lighter. (Should be pretty easy to implement, would love to see it) probably costs 1 loadout point. - Hepht Integrated Welding Tool, sure, there's the combitool but that doesn't include a welder! This one even allows you to drink welding fuel! When welding fuel is swallowed it is stored and used by this machine. (Like a welder but uses welding fuel you drink in your body to refuel. Obviously doesn't work with the drinkable welding fuel augment) probably costs 3 loadout points. - Retractable ATM, have you ever wanted to show off to the merchant by having the exact cash on you without having to walk to some peasants ATM? This is the handy device for you! A wrist-deploying device which is synced with Idris banking, just insert paper and get money! (I have no idea how this one would work but I love it so much) probably costs 3 loadout points. - Holographic hands, incredibly expensive but totally worth it! With the will of technology and space Jesus you can activate holographic projectors on your hands which display text! (Like the kitchen holographic menu kinda. Also allows you to scan things and project them like the projector, this is a personal favorite and I'd love to see it implemented) probably costs 4 loadout points. - Integrated Arm Blade, A sword but out of your arm! WHOA! (Exclusively antag item, thought it would be pretty rad) Probably 4 Telecrystals. - Integrated Zeng-Hu Body Scanner, Too lazy to drag someone's dying ass to medical only to have them die in the scanning process? This alternative will save you 0.782 seconds! (CMO and Research Director exclusive, like the one the CMO has in their office but inside your fucking hand) Probably costs 5 loadout points. - Integrated T-ray Scanner, Let's be honest, you don't carry one of those useless things around because it only takes up space. Now it's in your eyes, causes the near-sighted effect when toggled on. (Engineering exclusive, not much else to say) Probably costs 3 loadout points. - Retractable Protective Eye Lenses, Can't find your welding mask? We've got you covered with these protective eye lenses! Flashes do deal damage the augment when it is toggled on. (Protects against flash stunning, losing durability while doing so. Also protects against welding sparks without taking damage.) Probably costs 3 loadout points. - Night Vision Lenses, Want to play Tajara but not in the mood to make a whitelist? Here's 50% of their abilities built right into your probably human character! (Security exclusive, gradually causes eye damage if active for too long, about ten minutes, similar to Aut'akh eyes augments. Also prone to severe eye damage if flashed, two flashes cause total blindness.) Probably costs 5 loadout points. - Voice Modification Module, Do you wear a suit? Do you think you're hot shit? Well if you don't have a full, smooth Eridinian accent you're not. HOWEVER, with this new voice augment you can mimic any accent you want AND at a relatively cheap price too! (Defaulted at Text to Speech, doesn't mimic crewmembers voices.) Probably costs 2 loadout points. - Surface Temperature Module, a thin layer of electronics packed all along the major portions of your body just under the skin, functions as skin ventilation, allow you to increase or decrease your body temperature in warm or cold environments without a jacket! (Can increase and decrease exterior body temperature by a maximum of 15 degrees Celsius, gradually uses nutrients to fuel this process) Probably 5 loadout points. - News Caster Integration, Ever wanted to read the news but didn't want to use the newscasters like a peasant? Are you a journalist and not a lowly crewmember? This augment is for you! Capable of doing all newscaster functions with the exception of printing newspapers. (Description says it all) Probably costs 1 loadout point. - Facial Adjustment Augment, Tired of your own disgusting mug? Shift your body to match another! This has LITERALLY NO LIMITATIONS except it does. (Exclusively antag item, changes the voice and body to match another crewmember like a changeling. Doesn't change gender) Probably 3 Telecrystals. - Integrated Speaker, Are your crewmembers ignoring you? Maybe giving a bit of sass? Turn this baby on and scream in their faces to make them utterly shit themselves while also bursting their ear drums. Warning, it bursts yours too. (Exclusive command/QM augment, basically a megaphone but as an augment inside your throat) Probably 3 loadout points. - Integrated cane, so you bought a telescopic cane huh? Well you're still a peasant until you've bought the INTEGRATED CANE! A deployable cane which can be folded and then shot into your arm for safe keeping! (Basically telescopic cane but augment) probably costs 2 loadout points. - Gold Star Dispenser, Did your employee just break their back out, pouring their blood sweat and tears into the job yielding great profit? Give them this gold star dispensed from literally nothing, that'll make them love you. (QM and HoP exclusive) probably costs 1 loadout point. - Integrated Global Positioning System, Scans your local station position and pings it to your brain, allowing you to constantly know where you are! Leaving it on for too long can cause headaches though. (Description says all, headache texts ping you after it stays active for longer than 5 minutes) probably 2 loadout points. - Advanced Hand Sensors, Allows you to dip your finger into a liquid and discern its contents, very accurate! (Description says all) probably 3 loadout points. - Hand Hypospray, Just deploy and attach chemicals to prepare! Works like a regular hypospray with slightly less capacity and longer injection times. (Can only hold 10 units and has an injection time of 5 seconds, fairly useless unless the user has not geared yet) probably 3 loadout points. - Integrated Recipe Database, Allows the user to wirelessly connect to a database of Foods & Drinks, like a cook book but in your mind! (Literally a flavor version of the wiki) Probably 1 loadout point. - Optic Camera Lenses, Allows you to take pictures and view them inside your mind at any time! Drawback is, only you can view them. (Description says it all, ICly could possibly say you'll print the pictures when you get home) Probably 2 loadout points.

OffRoad99 Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Just out of curiosity, are we allowed to contribute to the list by proposing some of our concepts?

OffRoad99 Posted July 30, 2021 Posted July 30, 2021 Atmosphere Scanner: A series of small sensors in the throat samples the surrounding atmosphere and provides the wearer with an accurate readout. (A built-in air analyzer. Fairly cheap,1 loadout point) Idris Incorporated: Social Enhancher: A small implant that emits artificial pheromones upon being triggered, helping sway bystander(s) to your words. People with this augment installed may immediately recognize its use on them. (Plays like the Vampire's Presence ability, just...less powerful?. And if this gets released, it may also help with people metagaming that ability as it's no longer exclusive to the Vampire! Costs 4 loadout point.) Zavodskoi Interestellar: "FreshRest" Implant: An implant that coaxes specific sections of the brain to increase the user's awareness, helping him remain awake and alert for long periods of time. (Similar to the emotional manipulator of Zeng-Hu. Purely a fluff-mechanic. 1 loadout point) Kind of have a few ideas in mind, but I'll elaborate on those in another post.
Carver Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 Post 1 of 2/3 because the forum hates all these quotes. 8 hours ago, DekserBecauseILostMyAccoun said: - Integrated mag boots, magnetic rods in your feet. Probably far too strong! While perhaps a cute thing for antags to buy, at a baseline magboots are incredible utility that everyone and anyone wants their hands on. This is not remotely a lower-quality product, nor should it be in the loadout. 8 hours ago, DekserBecauseILostMyAccoun said: - Integrated fountain pen, have you ever wanted to write something but didn't have a pen on you and forgot your PDA has one? Weird, but why not. Cute utility for more clerical characters. 8 hours ago, DekserBecauseILostMyAccoun said: - Hepht Integrated Welding Tool, sure, there's the combitool but that doesn't include a welder! I was neutral on the thought, though I think drinking fuel for it is a bit gross and implies it's far more integrated in the body than any regular augment. If this were added I'd suggest having you activate the tool and 'tap' a welding tank like a regular tool. Certainly a fitting possibility for a Hephaestus exclusive. 8 hours ago, DekserBecauseILostMyAccoun said: - Retractable ATM, have you ever wanted to show off to the merchant by having the exact cash on you without having to walk to some peasants ATM? Maybe a built-in piggy bank instead would be fine, but the 'flavour' of an ATM augment seems incredibly strange and prone to illegal use. 8 hours ago, DekserBecauseILostMyAccoun said: - Holographic hands, incredibly expensive but totally worth it! This is very cool but I don't know why it costs so much more than a welding tool. Flavourful stuff should be proportionately quite cheap compared to items with mechanical utility.
Carver Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 This forum keeps shooting errors and I refuse to quad or quint post just to respond to all of these fucking augments. The reason there are 21 of these is because most are garbage but you describe them all as being too broken. I DO agree with some of them being needed to be corporation restricted. I describe several as being broken because they're equivalent in many cases to free, built-in tools - and stuff like welding protection, night vision and magboots have very potent use in combat and antaggery. In those cases, I instead advise that it should be something antags buy - and the only suggested case here of an augment where it's too broken for the uplink is the intensely illogical 'facial' adjustment that gives you the best part of changeling morphing. There's a good reason the only remotely similar tool that exists is a chemical that randomly shifts your physical appearance for a very brief period.
whitewolftamer Posted July 31, 2021 Posted July 31, 2021 (edited) https://pastebin.com/dxkS5Yjk to start, i definitely think that the access locks were a good idea for many of them, the CMO scanner for example two thumbs up for that recommendation think any and all of the augs would be subjective to some fandangling with the loadout cost while i think a lot of good points were made here there are a couple of things I'd like to give my own opinion on first off being the hypospray while at face value it does seem like an incredibly valuable tool for antags you have to take into consideration that it can only hold 10u, the only chemicals with an overdose point of less than 10u are saline plus and drugs that literally just kill you, which, yknow, if they had they might aswell just feed them to you, while the first thing that would come to mind as a kill drug would be coagzulug due to its OD point of 10u it would probably metabolize faster than it would do any serious damage (you put 10u in it would only be at the OD threshhold for a couple of seconds before it gets brought down to 9.5u or something) while on the flipside of using it for medtag wouldnt make sense because most medical antag items come with their own delivery device (Hypo, Pills, Syringe, etc.), in general i think it could be a really fun tool for EMTs or other medical personel, while obviously not good if you have your gear it would be a nice little fallback point, i could see it being a ZH exclusive though it definitely has promise as a non-restricted aug TLDR for the Hypo: Think it should be fine, potential ZH exclusive, would rather be non-restricted For the inbuilt welder goggles i think that would be alright seeming you can go to public tool storage and, if theres an emergency toolset, nab welding goggles, though i can definitely see this one being a heph exclusive i like to keep augs unrestricted, i'd like to think that them losing durability if used as flash protection is a good insurance against it being an antag must have, also think maybe it could have a smaller view radius than normal welding headwear (don't remember but i think the normal welding stuff has like 2 tiles before you hit the checkerboard tiles, figures make it so just the tiles next to you are fully visible) TLDR for the weld protection: Can get welding goggles from the public tool storage, figures shouldnt be that bad Agree with you on the mag-boots as far as i can tell, brought up some good points there T-ray think could leave it as 3 points if it was an unrestricted aug, 2 if it was access locked Night-Vision, think it makes sense for them to be security exclusive since night-vision is classified as a "combat" module for hardsuits, definitely agree should be mutually exclusive with the welding goggles, again with the flash protection causeing eye damage or aug damage GPS can definitely see why this would be a lot stronger then it seems at face value, dont see why it would be a heph exclusive, but i think maybe it JUST reads where you are rather than anything else, again, could still be used if you KNEW how to use it but its better than having a full GPS Hepht welding tool, yeah fair points all around Honestly most of the ones on your 2/3 seem reasonable Temperature rig, yeah seems cheaper, especially since from what i've seen aurora temp system is if youve got a spacesuit and internals youre fine, don't really see too much playing with temperature if theres any playing with atmos at all I'd wager that the internal recipe book could exist seeming medical laptops have a chemistry registry, could make it so it holds all of the recipes? might be a little wonky though Personally don't see the voice mod being restricted as its something a lot of higher ups might like to have, though i can definitely see how it would have an emphasis on entertainment oh boy another long block i think (turns out it wasnt that long) so, the facial aug for antag, think having a full clone would be a bit too far, think maybe could have it act as a portable version of the little auto-plastic surgeon that most off-station antags have figures it works like the vial of venenum except you can only use it on yourself and you control what you look like, maybe give it limited uses in order to help balance it TLDR for the whole post: definitely think some things need revision, others seem alright, in the end think we just gotta build off of eachother Edit: should be relatively easy to pick a location for most of the augs, weld gogs go in eyes, gold star dispenser goes in hand, yada yada, and yeah, access lock over job restriction is probably the way to go Edited July 31, 2021 by whitewolftamer

Too much PTSD from that kind of shenanigans being common and quite powerful. It's really the only case where coords can have an impact beyond pathfinding. 11 minutes ago, whitewolftamer said: while i think a lot of good points were made here there are a couple of things I'd like to give my own opinion on first off being the hypospray while at face value it does seem like an incredibly valuable tool for antags you have to take into consideration that it can only hold 10u, the only chemicals with an overdose point of less than 10u are saline plus and drugs that literally just kill you, which, yknow, if they had they might aswell just feed them to you, while the first thing that would come to mind as a kill drug would be coagzulug due to its OD point of 10u it would probably metabolize faster than it would do any serious damage (you put 10u in it would only be at the OD threshhold for a couple of seconds before it gets brought down to 9.5u or something) while on the flipside of using it for medtag wouldnt make sense because most medical antag items come with their own delivery device (Hypo, Pills, Syringe, etc.), in general i think it could be a really fun tool for EMTs or other medical personel, while obviously not good if you have your gear it would be a nice little fallback point, i could see it being a ZH exclusive though it definitely has promise as a non-restricted aug TLDR for the Hypo: Think it should be fine, potential ZH exclusive, would rather be non-restricted Medical antag stuff comes with it's own delivery, but the most valuable thing to an antag is efficient inventory management. The more of your kit you can essentially shove up your ass, the more of other utilities and more commonly armaments you can carry. This is also stuff that can't really be taken away from you if captured without intense surgery, which is especially where stuff like welding goggles comes into play as being a real bother. 13 minutes ago, whitewolftamer said: T-ray think could leave it as 3 points if it was an unrestricted aug, 2 if it was access locked Night-Vision, think it makes sense for them to be security exclusive since night-vision is classified as a "combat" module for hardsuits, definitely agree should be mutually exclusive with the welding goggles, again with the flash protection causeing eye damage or aug damage T-Rays are so unimpactful and near-useless that I suggested 2 purely on the basis of 'well it does something so it can't just be 1'. As for NV, I more just dislike giving out more free NV to Security on the basis of hurting stealth even more than it already is hurt. You can presently hide pretty well from human and synthetic Sec, being able to quietly move out of the way of their flashlight radius, that would change fast with freebie night vision. I like your thoughts on the facial aug, a buyable limited/single-use plastic surgeon that doesn't copy the appearance of someone sounds like it has good disguise potential within very sensible bounds. Pretty fair points all-around.
Lmwevil Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 pog thread with pog suggestions laser pointer finger, for some kind of job. it's an augment that lets you point at stuff, with a laser
BunkyB Posted August 1, 2021 Posted August 1, 2021 I'm trying to post a comment but it crashes every time I attempt, so I just took a screenshot
Carver Posted August 2, 2021 Posted August 2, 2021 The more eye augments suggested, the more I ponder if it'd break balance to have none of them locked but all of them mutually exclusive with permanent blindness if you get ion'd. Anyone and everyone can bring a specific niche utility of their choice if they're willing to accept eating shit from EMPs.

Imho the most powerful (I.E a night vision implant) should blind you for a minute or two if you are ion'ed, whereas something "weaker", like the integrated eye sensors, should just switch the implant off, and you'd have to manually re-activate it. That being said, I am in love with the Microscopic View Enhancer posted by Bunky.
