Marlon P. Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 (edited) Ckey/BYOND Username: MarlonPhoenix Position Being Applied For: (Wiki Maintainer, Lore Developer, Deputy Lore developer): Wiki Maintainer Have you read the Lore Team Rules and Regulations wiki page? Yes; I wrote most of them. Past Experiences/Knowledge: I was Unathi maintainer in 2014. I was loremaster from 2015 – 2018. I was Unathi maintainer in 2018. I left due to targeted harassment in 2018. I started the news articles on a lark that later turned serious. I started persistent lore arcs. Examples of Past Work: I’ve written for, rebooted, overhauled, or contributed to all played species. You can see my contributions under the name Jackboot, Senpai Jackboot, and Marlon Phoenix. Additional Comments: I’ve tried contributing as a normal community member and my contributions remain in limbo. Even if I’m rejected I hope this app highlights an area of concern. This is meant to be constructive, not combatative. Unathi articles are not on the wiki. I took on a personal project to summarize all the news articles and index them. I was told this wasn’t wanted so I dropped it all. I don’t care about the other stuff but would like to see the unathi wiki pages reflect the items in here: https://forums.aurorastation.org/topic/16511-2015-2019-news-summary-project/#comment-151399 I also submitted a wiki page summarized the entirety of all unathi news articles and I think I also tried to submit updates to other wiki pages for the unathi to get everything up to date. I even submitted two different variations on the same project with the only difference being the author’s voice. That was pages worth of updates each. This was a long time ago, and I haven’t seen any updates or progress on anything I’ve tried to submit. If im wrong im willing to be embarrassed with this app; i nor another player could find the wikis information on the unathis recently history as defined as the news articles. I’m happy doing clerical work for a little bit. If it’s awkward for me to suggest arcs or something I don’t have to do any of that. Once I’m done updating all the unathi stuff and adding to various guides and fixing a bunch of errors i sre, I’ll resign -- once i run out of stuff to do. I just wanna see some progress. Thanks for reading! Edited June 16, 2022 by Marlon P.
Caelphon Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 The Unathi Team does not require another Deputy. Your application for this position is denied. Burrito can decide whether they wish to accept you as a Wiki Maintainer.
Marlon P. Posted June 13, 2022 Author Posted June 13, 2022 Do i reapply or does this stay up? Thank you!
Caelphon Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 It can stay up, but needs to be edited for the correct position.

Even though the Unathi section of this application is now invalid, I feel the need to clarify the following; if and when you have an issue with how your project has been handled by a respective lore team, it's not the best practice to make an application asking to be made the third deputy. Given that the application format asks you to read the regulations, you should have known this beforehand. Considering you rescinded that project following feedback, I am not sure why you expected to see a follow-up on it from the team. Lastly, basing your application solely on wanting to fix one personal project is not advised either. All in all, due to both your history and your reason for wanting to be wiki maintainer, I do not support this application.

I did, thank you. Edit: fixed! Lol 6 hours ago, Lucaken said: Considering you rescinded that project following feedback, I am not sure why you expected to see a follow-up on it from the team I don't. I said in my application i don't care about the other stuff going onto the wiki since it was dismissed by a loredev in a rude way. I dont want to volunteer to someone being mean, lol. None of the unathi devs were/are mean though. im happy to help upload the lore or other pages that the wiki needs maintained. We still need unathi lore in articles put on the wiiki. I want to do that. There's also some guides I see that I said a billion years ago I'd update... 6 hours ago, Lucaken said: your reason for wanting to be wiki maintainer To work! Lol why not apply? The worst that happens is they say no. Edited June 14, 2022 by Marlon P.
Marlon P. Posted June 13, 2022 Author Posted June 13, 2022 Proof i read it after my tripup earlier: Null is still listed as the depuy loremaster. Didnt someone get hired someone recently?

Desven Posted June 13, 2022 Posted June 13, 2022 Making a wiki maintainer app to edit mostly the lore part of the wiki is not a good optic. Even when modified, wiki editors rarely get to modify the lore part of the wiki. If they do, it's mostly proofreading and ask for permission. Applying to this position for what essentially is a personal lore project feels in bad faith. For this and all my comments on your previous apps I can't support this application.

Im not making lore, it's documenting lore. All the unathi articles gotta go on the wiki. Ive already documented everything of my own violition. Everything is already done, it just needs to be uploaded. Im happy to do anything else a wikidev has to do for awhile. Theres a lot to be done. This is just my primary goal bcuz i know its a LOT and it was my job to upload it in the first place. Its easier to work with the loreteam within an existing team rather than submitting as a player. And i dont like asking other people to do stuff when im able to do it myself. It feels like badgering. Especially since i was supposed to do it before i got ran out. Am i really so vile that after 4 years of no infractions i cant even be a wiki dev? You bring up my history and its a little frustrating that every app has my history brought up. Theres people on staff right now that sent me hate mail and porn and all kinds of vile crap because they didnt like me. I can actually still see it if i go to the DMs. I never bring up their history. Is my history really worse than all that? Geeze man I just wanna contribute to the wiki. Is it going to be like this every time? Edited June 13, 2022 by Marlon P.

Wiki devs are not allowed to touch lore pages without collaborating with the lore devs. So, I am unsure what is the difference between trying to get in the team to do this and doing what you did, what do you expect to happen differently?

Thank you! I know i cant up and upload whatever to a lore page. Using wikidevs channels/etc to coordinate with teams is more efficient than me DMing different people as a regular nobody player. Especially in DMs full of idle chatter. The casualness of it isnt super efficient Is there no difference between a wikidev and a player in terms of wiki maintenance? To repeat my main goal is helping unathi clerical work while I'm fine to touch up all these other nonlore pages i see. Edited June 13, 2022 by Marlon P.
Marlon P. Posted June 16, 2022 Author Posted June 16, 2022 I change my mind, I don't want to wikidev anymore. I don't think this is a friendly enviroment at all.
