FearTheBlackout Posted February 10, 2023 Posted February 10, 2023 BYOND Key: SimpleMaroon Character Names: (in order from, currently, most played to least played) Claudia Arcavius, Petra Romanovich, Tomasa Garrido Species you are applying to play: Diona Have you read our lore section's page on this species?: Yep! Why do you wish to play this specific race: Dionaea were one of my more favorited species back on Baystation, but unlike there, the Dionae here have a great deal of lore to them that means they can have a lot of different backgrounds. I think having a chance to play a character semi-similar to the concept I had on Bay, while still staying unique of course, is going to be a lot of fun. Identify what makes role-playing this species different than role-playing a Human: Dionae are, obviously, alien at their core, both in biology and behavior: A grown gestalt is not just one person, but many beings at the same time working together. Because of this, they are forced to have different rights and privileges across the Spur at large, including chipping nymphs and the difference in corporate regulations involving crimes against the species. Character Name: The Looping Song of Deep-Bedded Roots The Looping Song of Deep-Bedded Roots, or Looping Song or just Song for short, is a 175-year old Geras Diona and citizen of the Nralakk Federation. Born from the Conglomerated Choir of Nralakk, they are afforded respect within their field of pharmacology, and work for Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals. They are composed of six Diona nymphs, and stand at 4'8", on par with the Skrell they have lived alongside. They have lighter bark due to growing up primarily on Qerrbalak, and their mindtype is Competence Choir. Having resided in Eriuyushi on Qerrbalak, they aren't a stranger to underwater life. They enjoy the privileges of a Diona on the higher-end of being a High Secondary or Oqi, with a Social Credit Score of 6.53. This is because of their good education after they had a chance to study at the Aliose University of Medical Sciences, and because they were raised by a quya and follow the Orthodox Eternal. Song, overall, believes in the ideals of competence and loyalty, especially to the Federation that so kindly hosts them. They are, like their peers, anti-synthetic, and aspire to be like their idols. They enjoy their work with Zeng-Hu Pharmaceuticals, and thus aspire to strictness, perfection, and discipline in their work. They have more respect for humans who have had involvement with the Nralakk Federation, but they respect all humans and other species well enough to work on the Horizon. What do you like about this character? I'm a large, large fan of characters from or that have involvement with the Federation, as you probably know if you've seen me play Claudia. I think this character concept is a cool way to have a character who's cemented in the Federation while stile having a unique position within it, them being a Diona. How would you rate your role-playing ability? Assessing myself, I'd probably say my roleplaying ability is average to somewhere above average; I think I am usually working with my characters to maintain an interesting narrative, and I keep to the in-character rules and avoid annoying or elitist behavior. Notes: As mentioned to Yonnimer while I was asking questions on the lorecord, I did have a Diona with a similar name on Baystation, but was told this was okay, and of course they are a lot different from the character back then, Aurora having unique lore as it does.
Decepter Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 From what I've seen of Claudia so far, I'd say Maroon is a good egg +1 1
Star Dust Posted February 11, 2023 Posted February 11, 2023 I can not give FearTheBlackout enough +1's for the amazing roleplaying skills I've witnessed of them. They make interesting, complex characters that really do feel alive, have a backstory, have a history, and more. My favorite character of the ones they play is Claudia Arcavius, a character who really has spirit to them. I give this application a +1 and say they would make an amazing addition to the vampire tree race. 1
La Villa Strangiato Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 I like SimpleMaroon because they're really cool and a good roleplayer. They really understand how to make a character and i would definitely support them playing doonr. +1 1
GeneralCamo Posted February 12, 2023 Posted February 12, 2023 I have played with their bay dionaea. While the lore isn't exactly the same here, the play they showed there makes me want to go ahead and give this application a +1. 1
Boggle08 Posted February 14, 2023 Posted February 14, 2023 (edited) Wassup, just some questions: 1. How does Looping Song feel about the Eternal overall, especially with respect to the other sects? 2. How does Looping Song feel about encountering new gestalts who are not culturally federation in general? Edited February 14, 2023 by Boggle08 badd grammur

How does Looping Song feel about the Eternal overall, especially with respect to the other sects? 2. How does Looping Song feel about encountering new gestalts who are not culturally federation in general? 1. Song, while not necessarily a "puritan" of the Orthodox Eternal, finds the other sects, on both ends, to not be in line with the doctrine that the Orthodox Eternal presents: The Iron Eternal, particularly, tends to be supportive of synthetics, something that Song, from their time growing up in the Nralakk Federation, finds abhorrent. They also worry that the Eternity Shard itself may just end in a repeat of the era of Glorsh-Omega, one of the worst things to ever happen to their Skrellian kin. The Blood Eternal, conversely, is something they associate with vile and violent folk from places like the Viscera-Belt, their feelings on which will be more explained below in my second answer, but ultimately, it is something that they shy away from heavily, as they consider it incompatible with the more traditional educational methods that Dionae of the Federation undergo. 2. Looping Song, thanks to their Federation education and indoctrination, believes, even if not verbally, that Federation Dionae are the "betters" of their kind, especially those that come from the Conglomerated Choir of Nralakk like themselves. In this regard, they are not very humble when talking to other, non-Federation Dionae, but still willing to observe their viewpoints to a degree, because of their scientifically-minded development. In regards to their kin in Epsilon Ursae Minoris, they find them mostly agreeable thanks to their ties to the Federation, aside from those that practice the Iron Eternal. Dionae from the Coalition or frontier, such as the Wild Ones, are strange and undeserving of their attention, while they are more happy to work with Dionae from Biesel, save for those from the Viscerabelt due to their chaotic ways and their following of the Blood Eternal.
Yonnimer Posted February 17, 2023 Posted February 17, 2023 Hello! The answers to the questions sound good. After some discussion, we've decided we'll be accepting your application 1
