ReadThisNamePlz Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 Alrighty! So, here it is. I have been talking about doing this for a few weeks now, but I'm ready to put blade to grinder and get to work on it. I intend on doing two things. I will move the Nuke to somewhere that makes more sense. It is really odd that the Nuke has less protection than the Armory or Telecomms - location wise. I will either replace the Nuke with a vault filled with mediocre and the rare "excellent" piece of gear, and a telecrystal spawn of 2 - 8 extra crystals Why do I want to add a vault? Well, there's two main reasons. Antag QOL. A lot of on ship traitors, off ship raiders, mercenaries, ninjas, etc - do not really have many options for targets. Stealing the Intrepid is frowned upon and is really only good for escape. AI is barely played so being able to steal an AI is difficult - and when one is being played, they're really really hard to steal without much reward. The Armory is not allowed to be stolen from/impacted immediately due to it ruining the round for Security/Can be treated as powergaming. Crew Armory can be robbed but it really leads to the same place. Captain can be robbed but again, leads to the same place. It feels like the ship is lacking in a place to securely store high value items. We have the science storage area but that is not very secure or useful. I am focusing more on another Antag thing with this though. I would love feedback and ideas on where this should go. I'm open to putting it on any of the decks. I would be fond of putting the Nuke somewhere within the bridge, but again - I would love some feedback. -- I promise there will be little to no bugs this time. I learned a lot from the Security Remap.
GeneralCamo Posted March 2, 2023 Posted March 2, 2023 We do have the secure storage in ops. It has a lot of the solid phoron, plus motion sensors for immediate security response. Perhaps instead you should look towards improving that?

I'm thinking a 4x4 room at most to allow for turrets and such. What do you think?
Evandorf Posted March 3, 2023 Posted March 3, 2023 Please put the safe back in the vault. I'd love to crack it again.
ReadThisNamePlz Posted March 10, 2023 Author Posted March 10, 2023 Alright, mockup beginning today. I will post it here soon.
ReadThisNamePlz Posted March 11, 2023 Author Posted March 11, 2023 Here is a rough idea. If people thing it should be more secure than this, I will have to move it to a different place in Operations.
Carver Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 I somewhat preferred how the old vaults (and current scuttling device) were out in the hallway since it means if there was a robbery it was a very public ordeal. Shoving it in Operations feels quite odd given that a majority of the department would be brigged for even daring to think of going in there, so it seems liable to be as forgotten as the phoron stores currently are.
Dreamix Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 I've put my thoughts regarding a vault, in the other thread.

I understand the concerns you have. I'm making it so that if antagonists do rush the vault/hit the vault, it'll alert command with motion alarms, and the screamer - and since it is in operations, it will bring Antagonists over to operations more often than normal.
Carver Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 I'm not sure Operations needs it, it's already a huge target by virtue of the cargo shuttle and I often see group antags holding up there. Placing it somewhere public that isn't already relevant might help shift the general flow of 'antag traffic' round-to-round, perhaps the Research Hallway?
ReadThisNamePlz Posted March 11, 2023 Author Posted March 11, 2023 Just now, Carver said: I'm not sure Operations needs it, it's already a huge target by virtue of the cargo shuttle and I often see group antags holding up there. Currently working on a large remap with science, so I don't think that'd be possible. A lot of others wanted the current secure storage upgraded to be a vault.

Primarily I wanted it to be relevant beyond "oh no they stole some Phoron" because it has limited relevance beyond that, and theft gimmicks involving it would stop short quickly, and don't really get the antag anywhere OOCly since you can't do anything with the highly valuable things you steal, other than maybe make a Phoron bomb (bad idea in the early round). Honestly I wouldn't mind removing it in favor of a vault somewhere else, replacing the secure storage room entirely. Personally it does still feel like a rooms ops should have access to, because where else do they store sensitive, valuable and/or dangerous materials? But locking it in the middle of operations may not be the place for it, maybe closer to a hallway? And make it obvious when it is unbolted similar to ammunition and the server roo

I can move it if the general consensus is to do so.
Dreamix Posted March 11, 2023 Posted March 11, 2023 I think it's fine in ops. The OM should have access to it, to store valuables there, but not the hangar techs. Left is the previous storage, right is the new vault. On the bottom is my proposal. I am really not a fan of the maintenance tunnel being made smaller and tighter. I'd prefer if the vault was moved east a bit, so the tunnel can stay as it was before.
