for body or helmet cams. Perhaps requiring it to be on the same Z level to use. so encouraging the crew to setup a command post where ever they're going, or on the shuttle

I think the storyteller should have a button to open storyteller assistant slots to give more ghostroles for storytellers extra pairs of hands, sets of eyes to help the ST with their stuff. In addition the storyteller needs an easier way to see who is what actor in aooc.

Hello, I have not played actor yet, but these are my suggestions. I have played ST.

1. Actors need an antag icon, like revs/mercs/cultists, to make them instantly IDable to one another on an OOC level. This icon would also help the ST ID them, since they seem to have AntagHuD locked in the on position.

2. The Character Editor would be a nice thing for the Storyteller to have, if it is somehow important for a Actor or dead body to look a certain way. I know its possible for other players to modify another, since plastic surgery does this.

3. Build Mode probably needs an overhaul. As it stands, it is incredibly confusing to use, atleast for the first time.

4. I believe this is being worked on already, but create explosion punches holes into space on exoplanets through shuttle floors.

5. Storyteller needs to be activated as a preference, like all other antagonist types. (I'm not sure if plans for this were stated anywhere else, but I did not see it in this thread while I was skimming it.)

6. The Storyteller needs to be able to possess non-occupied bodies, be it for positioning or story purposes.

7. As the Storyteller already can create bombs and summon Nar'sie, I think they can be trusted with the Damage Menu, so they can wound their actors and set dressing corpses at their whim.

8. The Storyteller was granted a loud, blue local OOC to ID themselves as the storyteller. That is excellent. Please give them a global OOC one as well for important round announcements like, "something is fucked up, expect delays."

While I strongly agree with this, I have sadly been told it is impossible from a technical standpoint. However, at the very least I believe there should be automatic instand respawns for the ghosts wanting to get the role in Odyssey rounds (missing out on a contest job is already bad enough), and perhaps some sort of lottery (instead of "whoever is fastest gets it") - give ghosts a minute to sign up then randomly select one eligble ghost.

I have already asked this but also the ability to jump directly to them via pressing an F next to their name in AOOC chat like you can in regular chat would help too - and perhaps adding to AOOC a note, for example: Fyni (playing as Jane Doe) to help co-ordinate better.

Easier (safe) destruction, ability to interact with things easier (like an AI - closing / opening doors for example), easier way to make bodies are all the things I think are required to enable most ST ideas at this point.

The pre-teleport holding area for actors absolutely needs a clothes and headset vendor. You need them EVERY round, just as much as the species changer, so they may as well be added next to it. And please, PLEASE add the ability for storytellers to send and see faxes. I'm allowed to create a 100 tile wide bomb, but I can't privately correspond with command in an IC way?

Actors are currently too reliant on there being a storyteller/staff's help in the absence of one. Uplinks would alleviate this by allowing the actors to still send announcements and spawn new props and equipment, ideally with access to more non-combat stuff than the antag uplinks. The uplinks could either be disabled when a storyteller joins or, ideally, split up the workload; the actors can focus on spawning their clothes/gear while the storyteller focuses on macro tasks like altering the map and spawning mobs. Either way, an uplink in a worst case scenario with no storyteller would be huge.

  • I do think Ody actors (and all off ships in general) should start with chameleon clothing kits which get stuck on whatever they're set on past a certain roundtime. I know the ST has the power to set outfits and roles, but people generally like to customize on top of that.
  • Additionally, this may be a map thing, but actors should geenrally have universal access to away site doors - as of right now, I give them the BST ID and let them scan it.
  • I've said this to Matt directly, but I also think ghostrole ships shouldn't be autonotified as to a "distress signel". I've had them arrive before the Horizon on multiple rounds. The ST however should have some means of communicating with them IC to get them involved.

More suggestions:

  • Cancelling of hostile mob events (Grems, Hivebots) on Ody rounds - this can be highly disruptive and an excuse for holding sec, med and eng back.
  • A "STRAP IN NOW WE'RE DEPARTING IN 10 SECONDS" button on the Intrepid which broadcasts to everyone on the Intrepid, annoucement size.

I only recently became aware of this, but, picking the map? Apparently there isn't a way to do that? I haven't played ST yet so I could be incorrect.
It feels like a no-brainer to allow someone to pick the map they will be playing on. Whether it be the storyteller or the players all together

Only the storyteller should be allowed. Map votes are exclusionary and there's no guarantee anyone will vote for the one you specifically want to play on; it should be beholden to the story and not "well I just think this one looks cool"s imo.

IPCs should get the prompt upon spawning to set their tag to a specific kind of ownership/tagless; merc gets it by default, whereas on Ody you have to switch to some other species and then back again to get the prompt.

One challenge for this would be that, currently, storytellers aren't obligatory for Odyssey. For them to be able to choose the map, I assume we'd have to set up a role preference for it and have them pick the map before the round properly starts? Matt would know better than me how feasible that'd be.

Odysseys being entirely RNG-based is something on my mind, but I'm not sure what system would be best to replace it. I don't know if I'd honestly mind a vote system - I understand how CM does it is they hold those votes at the end of the prior round, using a randomised list of seven or so options, so theoretically every map can have time to shine.

Map being randomly picked is intentional, same thing as storyteller not being able to pick whether the scenario is canon or not.

If maps are votable or whatever, it just means the most popular (and safest and most boring) option will be picked every time.

Variety is good and the main strength of Odyssey (imo). Voting or picking maps means less variety.
