Logs Taken From Byond: Happened after I rejoined from a crash.

Basically, Frank's response to his attacking me is what this complaint is for. He comes out of nowhere and mows me down with the antique laser rifle, and then berates me in LOOC, claiming I was in the wrong. While I'm assuming his colleagues had told him they had me under lock, he went and did this.

I'd like to hear the side of the Ops assisting him before anything's done about this (which I really just want to know why he did it).

I don't know if anyone told him - I'mma read and think things over a bit.

Short version - we came on Meowy while he was in maint, held him hostage with lasers while another guy circled in and held him up so the rest could come in. Dredd was off doing his own thing with the nuke and Dat Disk, and it looks like no-one actually said ":h We've got a sec cat prisoner" or took the time to handcuff him. I was going to, but then I accidentally tazed him and was too flustered to remember what I was doing.

This is about my second time playing nukeops in about 5 months, so admittedly I'm pretty bad.

Likely unrelated to the complaint, but I had kinda insisted on doing something rather than blowing up armory and plopping a bomb in captains office, which is more or less what happened. I actually personally only saw 3 crewmembers and spent a grand total of like 15 minutes on the station before the game was over.

I was the one that said I'd try and 'secure' M'rychny, btw, but as literally nobody had cable coils or cuffs, I was at a bit of a loss at what to do, whether to go and help in the firefight that apparently happened or keep him from running away, which is likely what caused all of this.

I didn't hear anything about an operative saying they locked you down.

Instructions were given that all personal were to evacuate to an outpost, and that those remaining behind would most likely suffer a harsh face. Guess who was playing security? You. Guess who was ordered to stay behind by another operative, who If I remember correctly, didn't announce they had you captured. You. Guess who would of expected to be killed after sitting near our bomb zone? You.

I've seen other op teams go for the 'BOMB THE AI AND IMPORTANT AREAS' approach, and were they giving a spanking? Not that I can see. Nuclear is a bitch of an antag round and people rarely respond to it well. The demands for credits were said, but the crew joked about it. I rarely see nuke ops being taken seriously.

I travel by, and see what? An officer remaining in the maintaince area with a gunlocker next to them? After they were told to piss off once the action started happening.

I complied with the Ops all the way. I didn't try a damn thing, because my character feared for his life.

The issue is, you rolled up on somebody and put shots in them without a word. That's gank in itself.

I never caught a sight of other nuke ops trying to subdue you until I opened fire, but if you insist on remaining on a station after it's clearly being attacked and a warning was given to piss off before hand or be killed, you consider that a gank, alright go for it. Because it seemed miscommunication was what lead to you being shot. I'll fess up to my mistake if needed.

See, the problem is that as realistic as it might seem, I don't think you can simply do that from an OOC perspective. Otherwise, you'd have ops that could just say "well we're attacking the station, we're going to kill anyone who's in the hallways" and then have free rein to gank because "combat zone lol".

This wasn't even what happened here. There were vague threats given as best - players can expect to run into trouble, yes, but they shouldn't have to run into somebody who shoots them on sight simply because they were there, without presenting any sort of clear threat.

A firefight broke out the very instant you decided to head back, and we went off after some security guard, leaving Meowy behind because eh he's handcuffed right he's not going anywhere.

Going off what Frances said, Nuke Ops were super disorganized the entire round, while Frank mostly did his own thing, and nobody really communicated well at all. So miscommunication did have something to do with it, but when we first saw Meowy we 'tried' to take him prisoner.

If Frank had no idea that we had even captured or even encountered him in the past then you'd expect him to try and disarm or otherwise disable first, instead of shooting to kill. And in addition, I never saw Frank give any sort of warning on the comms, and chances are if I didn't notice, I wouldn't have expected others to notice either.

I had meant ramboing in the sense that the entire team was running around yakkety sax with no real objective other than end the game as quick as possible. And, well, Frank did pretty much order the entire rest of the team to stay on the ship and guard the bomb while he assaulted the station by himself? He didn't really coordinate past "Bring bomb here" once a few things had blown up.

And IMHO, I'm not an experience nuke op (or even security for that matter) but while randomly stunning isn't as bad as randomly lasering, it's still not as enjoyable for all parties as trying to convince the other party to surrender. I think that an initial effort should honestly be made to have some kind of interaction beyond pointing and shooting, and I applaud Meowy for this, actually kinda reacting realistically rather than running away as soon as they saw us and alerting the whole station to the big mean nasties outside.

Basically this. As much as I am up for being harsh-handed with shooting people who disobey instruction, you cannot expect an order for evacuation to be completed immediately and without fault. To do so is to set your expectations too high.

On the individual case: you more than likely identified that the security officer is of minimal threat, or of no threat at all. Why? Well, because they weren't charging at you, or otherwise trying to subdue you. Opening fire without any interaction can be done if there is an open gunfight (which it wasn't), or if you're given no alternate option (which was not the case). While you weren't required to take them as hostage, you did not have the grounds to just kill them. The alternate to not taking them as hostage would be just simply disarm them and leave them be.

Your personal preference on this matter is ultimately null. What is entailed above is entailed in the rules.

Let's see here.

You ordered the station to get out of your way, by way of moving to the asteroid. Okay, sure. Not often I see nuke ops try and force the entire crew to dislocate. Then, a lone security officer, fresh out of the locker room, gets caught and cornered in maintenance somewhere near where you were setting up the nuke. Said officer is held at gunpoint, lots and lots of gunpoint, told to not move, and is searched for equipment. Not finding what they were looking for, the nuke ops instead stripped him of the rest of his equipment (why did he not have cuffs?), and left him under guard while the team went about its business. Not much communication occurs, but considering the fact that almost the entire nuke op squad was present, it's excusable.

Enter Dredd, the squad's resident airbag and master of vague statements. Moving through maintenance, he spots an officer--an officer devoid of both a belt and a satchel--and quite immediately assumes him to be a threat. Without so much as a shift-click inspection assessment, Dredd proceeds to dump almost the entirety of his carbine's magazine--set to lethal--into this unmoving, unreflexive officer. This effectively culminates into a perfect example of gank, running around with the safety off, poor trigger discipline, impatience, impulsiveness, and holier-than-thou condescension. You then proceeded, after having had a SIGNIFICANT period of time to assess the situation(read:enough time to receive looc complaint, and type two statements in return), to insult and stereotype the player you had so thoughtlessly and instinctively shot down, claiming that this threadbare "hero" was a foolhardy example of everything wrong with security, and how his actions--or rather, your own bigoted prefabricated strawman assumptions--were abhorrent and ridiculous.

Excuse me if I sound a little salty here, but come on. This is exactly why people don't like nuclear emergency. This right here.

Since I was around, and people were actively discussing the issue, I picked up.

As it stands, Frankster is sitting on an antagonist ban, a temporary one.

If any other instances of gank are reported with him as the culprit, it'll be escalated to a permanent antagonist ban and a ban from the server.

If his attitude keeps up and further reports are filed on that, then he'll be banned from the server.
