Haruspex

Oh boy....have I got a lot to say. Both good and bad. Where to start...

From Dragonsnap's POV, you were....very awkward. quirky and strange, I believe the first official time I interacted with you was during the cult round you betrayed DS. While you pulled off the antag stuff flawlessly, your method of gaining my trust was way too rushed. Earlier we had barely ever interacted, and suddenly Haruspex referred to DS as 'his synthetic sister'. DS's downfall is that she's too trusting, but any other person (or IPC) might have backed away from the sudden gush of friendship.

I do like how Haruspex is constantly searching for secrets and dreams - it's a unique quality. And the way he talks about colors that don't exist, is very poetic. But again, I'm kinda surprised Haruspex had willingly shared such precious secrets with my character Lori Alvarez, who is very, very, VERY judgmental to IPCs. A synthetic has to go twice the length to befriend Lori as an organic would, and (perhaps more on my doing) Lori wasn't very accepting of Haruspex's odd nature. She was mostly being polite, in fear of retaliation. Secondly, she was genuinely curious about these memories of Haruspex - a fault of my own, Karima's qualities were edging in over Lori. what I should have done was bluntly and politely apologize and leave it at that.

Now, Karima...she would love Haruspex to the ends of the earth. But that's because unlike Lori, she'd understand him. But you never once interacted with Karima! XD Karima's knowledge at best is going to have to come from word of mouth of DS, a second hand source of knowledge.

Conclusion? I can't say. I would think it's best to tone down the 'we are besties on first meeting' factor, because it gives no time to build up a concrete relationship. But don't overdo it, as this kind of 'in your face' character is a quality of Haruspex. But if there is something that Haruspex deeply cherish, he might not want to go around sharing it with every single person on station.

Just....my two cents. Meep.

Phoebe Essel

Please, please, PLEASE don't hate me for saying this...I'm gonna go fortify my post first and brace myself.

Phoebe is...unique. I like how her personality is vastly different where she hates all things human of her race, (and understandably so, because we are an awful imperfect race) but her presentation is so static and stiff. I give points to you for not making Phoebe a power-gamey or overbearing personality (making her hide in the closet when shit hits the fan), and that is what any "normal" person would do. She's reserved and quiet, and that is a refreshing change - although it must be a challenge to initiate RP.

But in all honesty, my character Karima is a little bit scared of Phoebe, and has defaulted to using her knowledge of synthetic psychology to understand her. Phoebe is more robotic than human. It is more of a sense of pity than friendship that Karima lets Phoebe into her lab. She sees a human who hates her own species, despite human's undeniable strengths and culture, shunned by her coworkers, hates everyone around her, and can only smile when Runtime is in her hands.

Phoebe doesn't have any qualities outside of her love for biological research. And despite the fact that Karima and Phoebe have been friends for a long time, Karima barely knows anything about her. If I could make a suggestion, I wanna see phoebe open up a bit. Have her expand beyond, "I hate humans" and why she is the way she is.

Charlie Dove

This is going to be brutal. Fair warning.

I hate her. Brutal honesty, every single one of my character that has interacted with her has ended up disliking her. OOCly, I want to take a fist and punch her in the face. My biggest complaint is her lack of self-discipline and professionalism.

In regards to being a Head of Staff: she's a doctor, not only that, a CMO - part of her job is to make people feel safe and secured. That is not the persona she presents when she's hauling protohumans to the kitchen to be gibbed. She's covered in blood with a derpy smile on her face. If my character got sick, they would not want to be treated by her, or anyone else in her department. She creates a health hazard, and she's a doctor! What is it with her and protohumans? She's not there for research, that's RD's job. One time I open the kitchen door and find her chopping a protohuman to pieces witha bloodied cleaver and a grin on her face....just...WHY? That scene is worthy of a horror movie.

Lori pointed this out. One round she scolded the CMO for her actions (I don't remember what exactly). Charlie replied, "Why can't I have a little bit of fun?" You're on a space station to work, not have fun. Sure, you can have fun while you work, and it's just a game...but be realistic. Would a multi-billion company really hire Charlie and put her on a elite research station?

I don't think so.

She's not responsible at all, and shouldn't be a head of staff - let alone be allowed on the station. She's a looney! She does what she wants and acts like she can get away with it, like a spoiled child. There's a difference between being a narcissist and being downright fussy and demanding.

In regards with Tajara: Charlie tries to force herself into the conversation, and pull a dominance among the group. Tajara are naturally supposed to be timid and complacent. And when Charlie forces her presence among them, there's no other logical decision for the Tajara but to back down and give way to a human head of staff. She doesn't have a clear grasp of tajara culture as she claims. And a human who 'grew up among Tajara' is just...so...gah, it's snowflake. It's not even good snowflake. I hope you changed that out of her backstory.

IF she does have a grasp of Tajara culture as she claims, she's using it ICly to gain control and dominance over them. That isn't caring. Rolling the R and pretending to talk like a Tajara, and expecting every single one of them to love and adore you for being /soooo understanding/ - no, just no. My Tajara characters put up a facade because they would never dare speak up against a head of staff. If Charlie was Tajara, Karima would not hesitate in the slightest bit to claw her face. Charlie Dove's personality is simply repulsive. It's not caring. It's controlling.

Lastly, Meowfia. The idea of a head presenting a game for everyone to enjoy on dead hour is great...except when it pulls out every other chance of arpee on the station. One round my IPC DragonSnap is trying to recover from getting kidnapped, and charlie drags the whole station into a game. I tried to join in, realized just how awful it made DS feel, and left. I was stuck with no one to arpee with. You're creating an ultimatum (probably unintentionally) of 'all the action is happening in one area and that's it. If you're not in, too bad for you."

Delete Charlie and start fresh.

Please read the terms pertaining to posting on the thread. Let's keep it solely to character feedback, not comments on the players.

Handy tip: you only need to be fair but brutally honest, no need to be creative. Also, I'll get to writing some feedback myself.

ok lets see what I can do down the list

Haruspex - I like him as a character oocly, but really haven't had much interaction with him. There was one time I got PDA messaged out of the blue to play dice with him and some others, I really like how they go out and try to get people involved. I really have nothing particularly negative to say, they do a great job at being a faceless robot but again, I don't have TOO much interaction.

Gollee - I honestly have no idea what characters are yours, who plays who doesn't really matter for me

Carton - I think the character is going to a better place, being the nuke op slash security guard can work, but not when its over done. After the first time it loses all the mystery and suspense OOCly. He'd make for a great show/ movie character but this is a game where rounds happen over and over and over and once the cats out of the bag its out, even if we should forget everything between rounds. That said, I really like him as a straight up corrupt cop deal, there was one time when I surrendered as a nuke op and he was escorting me out, uncuffed me and shot me in the head for trying to escape. I totally accepted it and it fit the character to the T.

Vira - I love vira, shes the epitome of hardass heads you love to fuck with while still actually following the orders (as an engineer of course). Most of my interactions with Vira occurred when I was totally gung-ho pro engineering anti sec so that probably clouds my opinion somewhat. If memory serves, could be more forceful than actually necessary.

Xander - It's been said before, but pretty much all the characters feel similar to me. The Godswood, in particular, seemed like a mishmash of 'wouldn't it be super cool to be a billionaire on a space station and do all this stuff'. Not to say I didn't enjoy my interactions with the character, quite the opposite actually. Very well roleplayed and enjoyable to be around. However, its difficult to actually establish a connection with a character that can quite literally buy the station she worked on if she felt like it. The only real issue I have is you don't like to cede authority under any circumstances, even when you really really should.

Pheobe - I used to love to hate the character, now I actually like them. Shes gotten much better the past few months compared to shouting down and screaming at anyone and everything for imagined insults. I like where the character has gone and now shes actually interesting and someone I like to interact with rather than being a token self hating human.

Thats a quick skim of people who put up

If you guys could give some feedback on Vittorio and Lodewikus it would be grand, because frankly I need some feedback to see what people want from me to fix them.

You have a controversial political ideology that in my opinion few people really identify with here. You inject your political ideology in all of your characters and sort of make them these walking political statements. You're sort of shooting yourself in the foot here, because all the people who would avoid you OOC because you're very open about your political ideology will do the same in character because your characters are also involved in your political ideology.

In my opinion, if you make a regular non-fascist character you're probably gonna find roleplaying a lot easier.

tear apart Conservan Xullie

I have only had the faintest of interaction with Xullie. Im still salty about that time you killed me while I was a wraith.

He sort of looks like the generic gruff engineering mecha limb dude. I haven't actually interacted with Xullie enough to make a judgement on what he's actually like, but this is sort of the first impression. That gimmick got old (Much like mine), so people might avoid him based on his looks. Be sure to give him some backstory fluff and deph (Assuming you haven't already.) so he stands out from his gruff mecha-limb peers.

Ah fuck it. I want to know the harsh reality of Fortune Bloise (Franbroise)

When I first came here, judging by Fortune's records and her flavour text she was literally the biggest snowflake.

Then, you fixed all of that and it was k. Really, good job with that.

That's more or less All I can say about Fortune since she has the habit of being a science hermit and pumping out endless robots and mechs. I'd call her good at her job but that'd be more of an OOC compliment to your unwavering dedication to covering the station with cleanbots every round.

Okay, I generally suck at giving feedback on characters, but I'll try.

Haruspex

I generally like the character, he is fun, interesting and a great surgeon, but the gimmick he is based off and makes him interesting is kind of doesn't sit with me. It's really hard to explain, but he far escapes the idea of what an IPC should be. One would say it's character development, but Haruspex is fucking insane. His antics produce RP, but the very fact people join in them is slightly immersion breaking. Just leaves the aftertaste of an inappropriate gimmick after interaction. You're in no way obligated to change it.

Vira De Santos

She has always been a good captain, albiet, should've stuck to HoS, as her general orientation is security. Beyond that, my interactions and observance of the character outside Aurora rounds make her seem strangely juvenile for a 40ish year old woman. She generally fits a profile of someone much younger and does not seem serious enough to hold administrative positions.

Syrus Seto

Feedback wasn't asked for, but I would like to provide it regardless. Ever since I've joined the server, I've liked playing an officer under command of Syrus. Effective, intelligent, syrious (heh) and dependable. Then, as he and Elena started being together, he quickly started to seem like a character whose sole focus was to hunt romantic RP. Maybe it's just me, but it put me off from the entire relationship RP thing.

Vittorio Giurifiglio

Honestly, I don't give a damn how fascist he is, as long as he doesn't actually break any laws. What annoys me is that my few experiences with him have shown him to be undependable. No captain likes heads and doctors that don't do something they said they would.

Would like feedback on Elena Raschnikova, before another shitstorm of complaints against her now.

I always were curious of what people think about my characters. But I rarely asked such a question by regarding my edgy-style playing and not popularity...Well, I want to try.

  • Here is my List:
  • Leonardo Mull(Security officer)
  • Dmytro Koschoviy(Chief engineer, Engineer. First my character on the Aurora)
  • Skyline(AI/IPC/borg.)
  • Alfred Ewing(Captain/HoS/HoP. Rarely seen.)
  • Fernando Williams(Crazy scientist, RD. He has messi hair and beard.)
  • Johnny Metzer(Mostly were played as a medical doctor or at the cargo.)

I've updated my post.

It's not easy to give brutal feedbacks, not because we want to be nice and all, but because we (or at least myself) is/are...struggling...to find something to bash at.

Vittorio Giurifiglio -

I dislike this character a lot. His constant xeno-bashing makes it hard to feel safe or want to get help as a Tajara. I don't understand why something that should be classified as hate speech is a thing. As a human, I've had great RP with them, which is great for including new players, but as a Taj player, I'm a bit salty.

Phoebe Essel

- I don't think I understand this character. I don't think I've ever seen her do any work. She's more than likely in a locker. The only time's she's interacted with me, is I either play Ryu'daken when Ja'rasha is on, and she says they're the cutest couple, or my Diona calls her "Doctor Easel" and she gets angry. More often then not, Essel is talking to Lockie or dickriding a unathi. The miniscle amount of RP I've had with this character is enjoyable, but I don't get this character at all.

Emma Godswood/Niklaus Nox/Lux

I've said it a bunch of times, I think both characters are the same. Both behave as if they're better than everyone, really snobby and prissy. Both have authority issues. They are difficult to work with after they don't get their way. They're both very vain. Other than that, I have never once said I don't like these characters. I do. They're decent characters and they're above average in terms of depth and back story. I enjoy rping with them, but like, if you've RP'd with one, you've rp'd with the other.

I'll do more as more pop up, but I'd still like some feedback on me/my characters (Ryu and Sam mostly)

Lay it on me:

Augur/Artifact ( Medical IPC(s) )

Basil Drabardi ( Counselor, Roboticist )

Any other character you know I play that sticks out in terms of criticism.

This could be fun. I'm assuming most people have opinions on my characters, because I meddle in everything.

I've been neglecting this post sadly. But I'll put Revvy to the chopping block and with the offering of blood, I wish for someone to give me a character I would recognize so I can get a proper good dissection of them.

Vittorio Guralfinalgio

My interactions with this character have been few and not all too positive, so I'm not exactly in much a position to judge them. But based on my initial reaction, I'm not a huge fan of this character - the player (whose name I can't remember) doesn't have very good grammar, and they honestly seem to exist only to provide some representation for ATLAS on the station. That, and they feel like a fairly obvious self-insert, at least in terms of politics. Aside from that, I like how they're so unashamedly racist. I think that, in reality, very few people would be sympathetic to any kind of alien species. Vittorio, despite all the flaws I've pointed out, feels like he could be a real person, albeit only in the future. He's a fascist - we're getting more of those right now. He's a racist - racists aren't going anywhere. He doesn't like aliens - like I said, I think most people would be xenophobes. Other than that, my only other criticism is.. he wears a red armband. Seems like a really offensive reference to Nazi Germany for the hell of it.

Phoebe Essel

Like Vittorio, I haven't interacted much with Phoebe, so I'll try and keep this short because there's not a ton I can say. Phoebe hates... humans? And she's a human? I don't know the reason why, so I won't say much other than this: uh, why? Maybe the character was joking when they said that, who knows? Other than that, Phoebe's a competent doctor. One of the few competent doctors I've seen, actually.

Travis Davis

He wants to fuck all the cats. He openly wants to fuck all the cats on the station. Someone would sue Travis for sexual harassment. Travis would be fired for sexual harassment. Why does this character still work on the Aurora? Nepotism? Large reserves of money? How many lawsuits against him does he have pending? Does Travis even still work on the Aurora? Maybe he was fired and no one's bothered to remove him yet. Funny character that isn't very realistic.

these are all the ones that i think are open to harsh criticism right now

i offer walter brooks, lay it on me.

Sarah Victoria -

What can I say, I am very fond of her, she is a competent member of security, her and my Warden/HoS, Thaddeus, fought off an entire cult together on the Bridge, that was some mean shit.

Tytos's characters: In general, all seem to be altered copies of a similar mindset, to me. My sentiments lie close to Inverted's here- You seem to inject your own beliefs and ideals into most, if not all of the characters that you play. Try to go for some variety.

I'm honestly drawing blanks for everyone else right now, because it's nearly 0500 here and I haven't actually slept.

Sirasairot Uaekis, and Houssam Jawdat are my two mains that I play the most. Feedback would be appreciated. I'm too lazy to troll through the list of names so I'll just snag familiar ones off the most recent page.

Katelynn Mcmullen

She still has an aura of "I'm better than you at everything" mindset. She seems like a Mary Sue, to be honest. During the independence event, she got into a gygax and mercilessly started slaughtering people in the name of self-defense. Openly tracking them down to kill them. She revels in combat and bloodshed, and has the empathy of Heinrich Himmler from how she acts during stressful situations. I think that it would immensely improve her character if she fled in the face of adversity more, or showed any qualms about murder.

Posted

I'll eventually put all the feedback onto the OP, I swear!

Houssam Jawdat

He's the guy that has a tackier version of Messa's Bounty. Winters Booby or something cheap.

I like to think of him as a potential rival for Miko with short term alliances, seeing as they're both scheming little scumbags. But aside from that, I want to see some more layers to Houssam as all I really see is him skulking in the shadows or suddenly becoming president of the station. Perhaps it's more of a case of me needing to converse with the character more, but I barely understand his motivations at times and it would be interesting to see more facets to his personality.
