I have played on other server few days ago and I have seen on ineresting feature: while you have help intent you cannot hurt people or shoot wiht a gun it does not do it with saying "You don't want to shoot with laser rifle with help intentions" We should have that.

Nope.

This system I've seen for myself is highly disruptive, unintuitive and horridly clunky as hell. It makes shooting much more complex than it needs to be.

People need to learn to be responsible with guns.

A quick tip with guns: the "Page Up" button lets you switch your active hand quickly. Whenever I'm carrying a gun, I always make sure I have my off-hand selected unless I know I'm gonna have to shoot at something in the immediate future - it prevents any misfires from happening, and serves as a reasonable simulation for actual trigger discipline.

Of course you wanna make sure you actually have your gun hand selected when you're shooting at the bad guys, though.

Delta, I am good at robust and I can play with gun as ever I want to. And yes Frances, I use this feature for all my 5 years. I don't think someone want to help by shooting with help intentions, heh.

We could implement a safety on the firearms that prevents you from accidentally firing and playing the click sound when you pull the trigger.

It's really not necessary.

People who are careless with weapons have NDs. Adding safeties would just add another thing to go wrong.

People get tripped up enough by hostage intent without adding another layer of trouble.

Really bad idea. You just need to learn how to handle guns in SS13, if you imply you're robust, help intent is an useful thing sometimes. Nty.

Guuys, this is not matter about careless with GUNS. I am purposing to impelement LOGIC. YOu do not to stab people with help intentions in reality, you do not want to fire at people with Help intentions. You do not want to hit shit out of Nuke op with Help intent, you are not helping - you are killing and this is interfiring with Purpose of Help intent to help to the people.

So you'd rather go for reality simulation than actual enjoyable gameplay of what SS13 is. Not many people know how to handle weapons, some are easily triggered. If you can't handle putting your mouse away from a floor tile, then you're really careless. Many have different playstyles, I use help intent in combat quite a lot. Besides, why would you carry a gun with "HELP INTENT"?

I gotta go with PoZe on this one. I found the ability to harm people on help intent really really frustrating when I started playing SS13. It's the source of the 'ever hilarious' habit of newbies brutally smashing their own face in with toolboxes.

Help intent should act like a safety. When it's on, you shouldn't be able to hurt people or yourself. It's basic UI design.

All this would do is encourage everyone to go around with disarm intent. The point of help intent in combat is to pass through other people who accidentally left their help intent on, or to go through teammates. To nerf it only serves to make a rather poor combat system even more clunky to deal with.

If you absolutely must have safeties, just add them as a right-click feature for guns for those people who can't be bothered to be cautious.

Exactly. Carrying a gun with help intent is normal, unless you are using it. If you want handle this gun to someone you still carry it. We all knows common problem with handling gun from warden table to officer and back, few years ago you couldn't place gun on the table, which makes it fire.

Jesus christ, alright. Not being able to go through my teammates while in the middle of combat would be a royal pain. You're making a game even more clunky than it has to be. You don't even need safety, just git gud.

Jesus, Hackie. I purpose make HELP INTENT to be a lock for any harm actions, I don't purpose to make magical lasers going throught your teammates or recognize who is enemy who is not.

He's talking about how harm intent makes it almost impossible for people to walk past you, if this was in action there would be more people walking around on harm intent in order to 'gain an advantage' over other players.

As far as I know, switching your firing intent from "Fire" to "Aim at" will not fire the weapon on the first click. So, why not just use that if you want a safety feature? I understand where all this is coming from; "you wouldn't hurt someone if you had helpful intentions," but adding something like a safety or having to switch intents just sounds like an even more time-consuming and clunky feature. Sometimes, game mechanics should just be left out of in-character mechanics such as intentions.

honestly I still don't understand weapons and combat. Last time I tried to fight a nuke ops guy I was poking him with a turned off stun baton because I'm a nub. If I had it on I'd have won the fight, but yup. I've only fired a weapon on two occasions. On one I shot an IPC by mistake, who then murdered me while I apologised, and for the other I managed to take out a drone near the bridge. I really didn't even know changing to capture intent was a thing. If anything that should start on capture as default and have to be manually set for players who are more robust and able to use the system without harming everyone while they try to learn.
