Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 This is a simple suggestion to increase the amount of janitor slots to 2 - 3, with the addition of the same number of mop+buckets. Currently the station gets super messy, and a single janitor can either be overwhelmed, or just go SSD, and no one else wants to clean up or be reassigned. Failing that, add some more space cleaner around the place; since CSI can discover blood with their fancy spray bottle, it wouldn't buff antagonists too much to have access to a trashbag+spray.
Garnascus Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I think this is reasonable but at the same time I feel it might be moot. If we assume that most messes that need more than one only occur during a crisis would more than player actually want to? Even if the answer is no I don't see it as a reason not to at least have the option.
SoapyCup Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 It should be raised to 2 janitors just because so many of them go SSD. Although I don't think putting more space cleaner around the place would be a good idea though because then no one would need the janitor.
Demonofthefall Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 why don't janitors get soap? its one of the best tools for cleaning. I've heard some people say it makes them a "slip master" but I think that's a pretty lame excuse. Having soap would help at those times when you have no space cleaner left and we have no chemists to make more.
Xelnagahunter Posted July 19, 2015 Posted July 19, 2015 I agree on increasing the janitor slots. I almost feel the janitor availability for "unskilled" NT employees would be stupid high, as in unlimited. Especially since they are known to be prone to SSD (maybe due to constant chemical exposure). The thought of adding trash bags and space cleaner is a bit more of a buff than you think though. Yes, a detective can find a blood that has been cleaned, but if a crime scene has zero visible blood and no other indicators, such as parts from the chopped up body that got tossed in a trash bag, then why check for cleaned blood? Many people will get smart and creative when hiding and disposing of bodies. As of now, if you aren't the janitor or someone with access to the limited amount of cleaning supplies on station then the mess is something you have to learn to deal with. If you ARE someone with that access, then you have chosen a proper job to perfectly hide bodies and it becomes a unique part of that role. TL;DR don't make syndie janitors feel underwhelmed with their limited access. Let them keep their gameplay boon and allow them to have an army of floor mopping slip masters.
Guest Marlon Phoenix Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 I didn't think about how it would actually negate the janitor's relevance further if you included space cleaner around the place; that was a stopgap if we don't want to make more janitor slots. But if we have a few of them running around, then yes the current amount is fine. We just need mode bods tho
TechnoKat Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 One batshit janitors enough though. If two, all I can imagine is them being antags.
rrrrrr Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 nah 3 janitors is good having 1 janitor in a place as big as the aurora is kinda weird
Demonofthefall Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 Crazy idea, let's have a Chief Janitor ;D Something like QM but for janitors? that would be pretty cool, they could coordinate the janitors. "WE HAVE A SPILL IN THE BAR, GET ON THAT NOW!!"
Frances Posted July 20, 2015 Posted July 20, 2015 As of now, if you aren't the janitor or someone with access to the limited amount of cleaning supplies on station then the mess is something you have to learn to deal with. I /wish/ that were the case. The way things currently stand involve everyone not giving the slightest shit about random hallway blood.
Xelnagahunter Posted July 21, 2015 Posted July 21, 2015 I care. I actually get upset about it. Medbay and xenobio are the places I least give damns about finding blood in.
K0NFL1QT Posted July 27, 2015 Posted July 27, 2015 A janitorial team sounds pretty good, actually. I don't know if anyone would regularly filling up the slots; as you say, janitor is demeaning enough that people don't choose to get reassigned. Also, yes, give them soap. I know, soap equals powergame slips. Just give it to them and bwoink players who abuse soap like a weapon.
