TV Tropes: Aurora's Character Sheet

Hello. I decided "hey, why not get people the ability to give characters tropes," and here we are, so without stalling, I'll explain things.

How Does This Work? Much like actual character page, on this thread we will give tropes to characters who play on the station. For the sake of not making the thing fifty spoilers worth, please don't throw in every single character you play as (even if you think it'd be a funny joke). You may ask, how are we going to give a character a trope, and who can? The answer to that is simple. First off, tropes will be taken from TVtropes itself, and like TVtropes, anybody can submit changes or additions to a character's trope. Every addition or change should have some sort of explanation on why the trope is added. Don't add By The Book Cop, on a character who this doesn't apply to, unless there is some subverted trope or the like.

Won't That Be Chaotic? No. The player of the character has the right to remove or change any trope that is added on their character - within reason. This is not the place where you shape your character to your liking. The tropes should reflect how the other players view your character, and what tropes they best reflect them. If a player wanted their character to be a stoic, hard-as-stone doctor, but roleplays them as a cheerful, care-free person, this should be reflect in the tropes in some fashion. That said, the player can remove tropes that seem to be added just to be rude, silly, or whatever.

How Do We Add Tropes? For this, the easiest way for us to make the tropes "work" is by using a simple(ish) method. Once you have the character's trope, simply type (or click at the top) [b ] trope name [/b]. Without the spaces, this would look like this: Broken Bird . Simple, right?

Where Do We Find The Tropes? If you want or if you have a specific trope in mind, you can search through TVtropes for it. If you don't have any tropes in mind, and don't know where to start, I suggest searching through the followings index pages. Basic Character Trope Index , Medical Character Trope Index , Security Character Trope Index .

Important Info: It's strongly suggested that you add some sort of description for any character that you want to put on character sheet, so that there is some basic info for people who may or may not know the character. As well, please include the department that the character is in, so that it can be sorted accordingly. This page will also most likely not show up on the SS13's tvtropes page, unless the majority of players lobby for it to be.

Why Are You Doing This? Because it's fun, you fun-gobbler.

Security:

Jade Rathel

Jade is a twenty-six year old security officer, who lacks in the height department. Since she commonly goes out of her way to insult the fellow crew members onboard, she rarely manages to stay out of trouble with the various departments on the station.

- Donut Mess With A Cop : Jade's main (and almost only) food consumed are donuts. This includes, but is not limited to, ones in boxes, ones on the ground, ones found in the trash, or ones found in maintenance.

- Malicious Misnaming : Jade commonly will call crew-members by things that are close, or far off their actual name, just to mess with the people in question.

- The Napoleon : While it's not directly contributed to jabs at her height, Jade has the 'short, aggressive' part locked down.

- Tsundere : A vicious Type A. While physical attacks aren't as common as tsunderes in other works, she still manages to keep the rather harsh tsuntsun attitude. She supposedly can be nice. Supposedly.

Daniel "Danny" Wahlberg

The Big Guy - Danny is usually this to the rest of the security team.

Farm Boy - Grew up on a cattle ranch on the edge of the Martian habitable zone.

Badass Baritone -

Kinetic Weapons Are Just Better - Prefers the recoil of ballistic weaponry to the feel of recoiless laser technology.

Vira Taryk

Lady Of War.

By-The-Book Cop.

DA CHEEF.: No, really, it's amazing how people draw this parallel with Vira, and I'd say it fits splendidly.

Noble Bigot With A Badge.: At work, typically a professional and avoids letting personal feelings get into their work, but occasionally cannot withhold some mouthy things to be said towards certain people. Hence the 'noble' part.

Outranking Your Job.: This trooper will concede that Vira's overqualified for their occupation, even to be a captain. Their background and skills are mostly focused on military delegation and organization. This troper feels like Vira's still done well by many of the more famous/robust security officers, though she might not entirely be a role model.

The Profiler.: She's been at this job for long enough (and the player has played this game long enough with a wide array of playerbases) to begin their attempts at profiling personalities, suspects or criminals. She's not 100% on point, so the trope is more or less applicable.

- Sir Swears-a-Lot / Gosh Dang It to Heck!

Sabrina Song

A 17 year old intern at NanoTrasen's PR department, Sabrina Song spent about 6 months working as a company reporter before being shifted to the editorial department back on the Odin.

Tropes:

Intrepid Reporter: Played Straighted, then subverted later on in her career after she gained enough success to have people coming to her to get interviewed, and subverted again after her promotion to the editorial department.

Damsel in Distress: Very often kidnapped and held hostage due to her job often placing her in the wrong place at the wrong time. Subverted a few times however when she managed to escape.

PlayAlongPrisoner: Used this to great success in the later half of her career during which she managed to interview a number of antags by playing along as their hostage.

EngineeredPublicConfession: Has been known to blackmail some of the more corrupt people on station with these, and managed to pull one off once.

CaughtOnTape: Carried at least three recorders at any given time, with at least two always on.

PutOnABus: Twice. First when she got promoted to the editorial department, and then when she left for university.

FamilyBusiness: Comes from a family of engineers. Isn't an engineer, nor even wants to be an engineer.

SinsOfOurBrother: Her brother did...something, that put the whole song family into massive debt, and splintered the family as a whole.

RedOniBlueOni: The Red to her sister, Lathiania Song,'s blue.

Might as well be the first one. Expanded and Updated

Inis Truesight

A 25 year old medical intern/general trauma specialist; comes from a wealthy family, and has various medical problems.

-White Magician Girl Inis' religious learnings gear her towards compassion and caring for others, as she follows the God of Healing and Protection within her religion.

-English Rose Inis was brought up well by a wealthy english-ethnic family, but she is more than an entitled brat.

-Sacred Language As in many religions, the Kasturi Pantheon has it's own language, which Inis is fluent in, if you can catch her praying, you can hear it.

-Sacred Scriptures Though Inis doesn't carry the Mythos around with her, she knows a good portion of it off by heart, and will trot out phrases when she needs that important moral high ground.

-Actual Pacifisthttp:// Despite having significant experience with Aikido, to the amount of being a 1st Kyu, Inis will never resort to violence, she may push someone away, or stop them grabbing her, but she won't harm or incapacitate them, she would rather run, or talk.

-Fantasy Pantheon Inis is one of only three ingame followers of the Kasturi Pantheon, and one of the other two are also my character, so expect zany religious wisdom.

-Heaven Seeker She not only follows her religion, but she sort of wants to see the end result, meaning that she won't violate her morals without an incredibly important reason, and one of those morals is her pacifism.

Overall, I enjoy playing this character that I've been constantly developing. Hopefully the rest of you have enjoyed her, despite that she's mostly very difficult to relate to. I actually based her off of one of my Aunts, of whom I've a lot of respect for.

Updated once again.

As a note: Any mention of somebody talking about themselves in the first person, will get replaced to "this troper" or "the player". Doing that so it doesn't look like I'm giving a character special attention, or am claiming the character is my own. It also goes a bit in line with TVtropes itself.

Can we also do tropes for other characters that do not belong to us?

up until a point where it gets unreasonable, that is. character roasting is fun, no?

I'd like some of my characters done, but I'm no good at any of this stuff. On top of being too lazy to look up every trope out there to get on top of it all. Besides, I feel I'd be biased in my own opinions. I'd be honored if someone decided to toss some thoughts my character's way and I'd likely accept them so long as they weren't too far fetched. (In case you don't know: Xel and Vel Carin, Qwerty, Eric Derringer, M.A.I., S.A.I., P.A.I..)

I meant to reply to this, but forgot about it.

I thought I had put it in the first post, but I may not have.

If you want to add tropes to a character that isn't yours, that is fine. That said, if there is something completely outrageous, or is a trope of a player and not a charcter, adding it wouldn't be fine.

That said again though, if you have some tropes that aren't too-far-out-there, then feel free to add tropes to characters that are not yours. It'll help the page grow, too.

I suppose I should actually up my game and do some more explaining and shit with Bonefist, since he didn't seem to be added when I posted him some time ago.

Bonefist

Civilian/Cargo

Asskicking Equals Authority- While Bonefist will follow the NS chain of command with enough accuracy to not get fired, he won't truly follow under you unless you can prove your stronger than him and anyone else.

Bang, Bang, BANG- Bonefist likes loud noises, and is usually attracted to them.

Battle Trophy- Bonefist speaks about taking and owning various trophies from his fallen enemies in his old days; this includes the enemies skull, the enemies head, the enemies gun, the enemies arm, the enemies woman, ect.

Bloody Hilarious- Bonefist seems to enjoy watching meatbags loose their "special sauce", knowing that it is important to them.

The Brute- Bonefist is usually this to most organic crewmembers, and sometimes to other IPC's.

Robot- Bonefist is an IPC

Sybil Rosetta-Sigma

Research

Big Yes - Whenever new, awesome science happens not-catastrophically. Like when she was taught that if the worst comes to happen, she could arm a whole security department by tearing down the station for metal and piping and glass shards.

This Is Unforgivable - Say you're a bad guy. You can sneak around and steal stuff, you won't get a glance. Start threatening the station? You'll get comments and maybe negotiations. Hell - things can stay civil even if you kidnap, maim or kill some people. But lay ONE FINGER on the wrong thing/person, and you've just turned a science machine into a murderous murder machine stuck in a loop. And when that happens, it ends on one of two conditions: your death (or if you're lucky, your capture by Security) or her death.

Wasn't That Fun?, - "Shoot me again with the glass shard and the pneumatic cannon - I want to see how far I can be before it stops pinning me to the wall. For science."

Agent Scully - "Hey Captain? There's a visitor with very advanced technology aboard. Like a telekinetic crown and an electromagnetic plasmodynamic launcher. Yes, captain - he can move things with his minds and shoot fireballs." "Captain? There's some crew distributing bluespace nanomachines. They use blood as fuel to do things like teleporting matter. What should we do about that?" "Security? Genetics has been spreading an illicit body metamorphosis gene mod... and it's improved, subjects can transform their arms into weapons. Be careful."

The Alleged Boss - Sure, Sybil is sometimes RD. But she always work with/for her crew, not above them.

Badass - If non-canon counts towards tropes, Sybil died twice in a round. First time around, her brain was transplanted into the body of another IPC who fried in space because of a malf AI. Second time around, the security borg decapitated her. What happened? The roboticist (see trope above - she doesn't use power over her people, she's more of a friend) extracted her brain again, and PUT HER IN A RIPLEY. Sybil then proceeded to tear into the AI core with the drill...

The Bait - ...to make the AI completely ignore the three welder bombs that were being carried to the back of it's core to blast the SMES to nothingness. Also generally willing to put herself in all kinds of danger just to get the enemy in position. Because she can't die anyway.

The Berserker - See "This Is Unacceptable"

Fantastically Indifferent - Is the situation not either of the above? Then it's this.

May do the rest later.
