prisoner rations

Basically, a prisoner rations vending machine at the brig, cuz making prisoners eat donuts and donk pockets sounds a bit off... plus, prisoners in solitary can be fed.

We should remove food outright, then security can starve prisoners as punishment.

I wouldn't really like this. I like going "Hey man I brought you some water and raisins." to give some bare bones interaction and also maybe poison them.

Even better, make all the prison food toxic by default, so they have to suffer just to survive.

I was under the impression the brig was really there to put people for minor crimes or "discipline", kinda like how I imagine it goes when navy sailors are unruly on ships. It wouldn't make sense for it to be *too* accommodating for extended stays, especially when the station itself has a full catering service. This suggestion seems more suited for a full-on prison than a drunk tank (and if NT runs any penal colonies, they're not on the Aurora).

Is this a real suggestion? If it's just a joke then do not post.

Right, sorry. I'll be serious now.

Vendors are a bad idea because they need an actual ID linked to an account that has not been stripped of funds. Even if Security is not in complete disarray, sometimes the ID's are not even returned for various reasons. If it is in complete disarray, the ID can get lost anywhere on the trip to the HoP or Captain's hand for demotion. That is if security doesn't decide to keep the PDA for evidence of a crime, with the ID still inside. And so on, so on.

In the end, yes, adding vendors might help solve the massive alleged starvation Auroran prisoners suffer, but not really since a fund-carrying ID is required, something that, more often than not, isn't provided to them due to sheer neglect and the fact there is a flawed human being playing that shitcurity officer. If you remove the fund requirement, it will be abused by security just so they don't have to do that dreadful ID swipe.

I suggest you plop down a normal food vendor anyway and as well as more donuts in the communal area. No need to go to exteme over something that will be rarely used anyway.

I'd suggest a slight amendment to this: Put the vending machine in the 'public' section of the warden's office (The left side on the current map, that doesn't have an access restricted airlock). Security lacks a food vending machine as it is, and this can be used for the warden or officers to provide food/drink to prisoners for some additional RP.

Yeah, I'd say giving the vending machine access directly to the prisoners is a bad idea, but what about locating it in one of the brig hallways instead? Warden's office could work, but honestly I guess it'd just depend on how it looks.

I was thinking of a machine in the warden's office, that will need the warden's id card to function and vend like a tray with some food on it. No funds required

Most prisoners aren't given IDs in communal. I've seen a lot of them abuse the newscaster inside their extended cell and make rather unscrupulous messages with them on Bay.

I think it's the responsibility of the warden to create roleplay and bring food him/her/itself to the prisoners.

It's not a bad idea. But benifits would be minimal, because its usage would be minimal, so it would be a waste of coding time for probably backlogged devs.

However, I could be wrong. Maybe the food dispensors being new and shiny might encourage prisoners to ask for food. Could be a good escape method, possibly.

There are already machines that give out things free of charge, like the vendors in engineering, the vendor in the kitchen give out stuff for free, Im not a coder, but it'd probably be easy enough to steal spites and code from the machines to Frankenstein something for the warden.

Something that might take coding, it might be cool to add some kind of nutrient paste/mush to give to prisoners, pretty much just the stuff you get for grinding anything, that I can't remember the name of, in a cup like ramen to give to prisoners. For some reason, I like the idea of feeding prisoners gross, tasteless mush, like a much grosser form of the "nutrient loaves" they give to prisoners today.

I have an idea. It may be hard to implement, but here goes:

Vending machines that, instead of using ID, uses a number generated for a given prisoner.

Mechanics-wise, this means two things: prisoners get fed, and they don't have/need their IDs for unscrupulous deeds (like abusing the newscaster or breaking walls with their ids. Yes I've seen it happen.)

Lore-wise? It makes sense - give the prisoners a number, on which the 'funds' they use are noted down - and once they are freed, they are fined the amount of funds they have used.

Here's a simpler idea, just give Vending Machines the option to use your Account number and PIN code instead of your ID card. Everyone can just check their memory/notes to figure this one out.
