Nanda Posted October 29, 2015 Posted October 29, 2015 Gives more options instead of "blow dem fucker up!" or "GET DAT FUKKEN DISK!!!!" Nanda like.
Killerhurtz Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Yes. I approve. Maybe it'll broaden the scope of objectives. And since the objectives will be so much more vague, MAYBE, just maybe, it'll stop the antagrushes/ganking.
LordFowl Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 A rose by any other name smells just as sweet. I fail to see how a simple rename will fix all the inherent issues with the gamemode.
Gollee Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 The main idea is that it will stop new players from other servers going "GET DAT FUKKEN DISK" immediately, as it has a different name, and they won't immediately connect it to nuke.

Maybe put a timeban on it, then? I mean, the namechange doesn't hurt. But it'd be nice to see all this bundled together in an overhaul of the mode, along with more equipment to suit various playstyles.
Gollee Posted October 30, 2015 Author Posted October 30, 2015 That's a good idea, like a locker room on the merc base, with things other than tacticools in, as well as maybe hardsuit modkits.
Lady_of_Ravens Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 I'm for this. It won't stop anyone who really wants to go for the nuke, but at least it doesn't give the impression that that's what's expected.

But it'd be nice to see all this bundled together in an overhaul of the mode, along with more equipment to suit various playstyles. I've always had a draft suggesting an overhaul of the nuclear game mode sitting somewhere in one of my google docs. I never got around to completely finishing it, or at least fleshing it out to a degree where I was satisfied. It would've technically given the nuke ops a lot of 'power' in the sense that they have a lot of telecrystals. However, as a return on that, a lot of the strictly 'new' stuff or anything that causes damage is generally more expensive than your utility stuff. Stuff like syndiborgs that you can buy and deploy, and those fun bomb collars I wanted put in at some point. I never finished it because it suggested way too much stuff that would've been more appropriate with separate suggestions. Granted, it would've made the game mode much more interesting to analyse and toy with for an RP server, but the effort vs. reward thing was what made me stop midway into writing it all up I guess.
Alberyk Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Idea; you can just detonate the nuke in a place selected randomly in the round start. And when doing so, it will send a station wide announcement of what is going on and where. So, placing the nuke can be more than just hiding it somewhere and leaving, if the new cops wants to nuke the station, it will be a bigger challenge at all.
Guest Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 That'll be a 'no' on the roundstart thing from me. Nuke ops are supplied with a stolen nuke and codes, but no disk. That's their spiel. Goonstation has a thing when the nuke goes live, it announces its timer, location, and that it's gonna go off whenever.

They would still need to grab the disk, never said it would be removed, just adding a certain place where it should be deployed and an announcement for it.
Killerhurtz Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Wait. Nukeops come with a nuke? I thought they had to steal the one in the vault...
Guest Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 It's some lore bullshit for le original epigstation 13. The gist of it is that the nukies stole a bomb off of a convoy. And now they need authentication keys from the captain of the station to set it off.
Conservatron Posted October 30, 2015 Posted October 30, 2015 Wait. Nukeops come with a nuke? I thought they had to steal the one in the vault... stealing the one from the vault is usually easier than dealing with space mechanics to get the nuke to the station but i support the rename on principle that a different name starts to change opinions.

The one in the vault is activated with a SEPARATE, RANDOM CODE. More accurately, it needs to be activated by an administrator and given to someone in-game.
Carver Posted November 1, 2015 Posted November 1, 2015 That's a good idea, like a locker room on the merc base, with things other than tacticools in, as well as maybe hardsuit modkits. Just steal Bay's nuke op base with it's variety of the old softsuits, the current hardsuits, and different weapons and tools for different gimmicks. Bonus points if you ever add their hardsuit code down the line as well so there's a particularly notable difference in choice later.
